Very cool! I've wondered if something like this could be made to work in TS2- definitely some spectacular views to be had during dinner if you put it in the middle of a really built-up downtown!

Yes indeed, I had set up a full view of skyscrapers, BUT only in the small visible area in order to avoid pink flashing, that way you can see nightlights while you are in the restaurant.
Had some trouble cleaning it because of the damn SDHB but totally worth it
