Adding to the Wiki

Date Posted: 24th Aug 2014 at 8:52 PM

I've been contributing to the Sims Wiki.

It's probably a waste of time working on the Game Play pages (for Sims 3) - I think the site has been abandoned.
I know questions I posted in June regarding images have never been addressed.

Given how obscenely EA has restricted the build/buy options in Sims 4, I'm guessing it's mostly us builders who will be sticking
with Sims 3. And we tend to spend our time in the build and buy modes, rather than actually playing the game in live mode.

But still, it seems like the Sims 3 Game Play information ought to be recorded. Posterity an' all that...

Update 4sep2014: Well, it doesn't look like there will be any sort of exodus to Sims 4. It's a fail. Metacritic has it rated 3.7 by users. Some of their professional reviews are positive, but the "professionals" are paid to spin products from corporations like EA in a positive light, elsewise they lose their sponsors. I take much more stock in the everyday users who are saying, "fuck you, EA."

So I think this means that adding to the Sims 3 Wiki pages shouldn't be a waste of time, after all...

Negative Space!

Date Posted: 30th Jun 2014 at 2:58 PM

I finally figured out how to put arches outside of a doorway. They're nothing more than the underside of an arched bridge!

When I was finagling the cfe to build the arched bridge in my Ancient Well lot, it just hit me! Of course, it took me a few more days
to figure out that I needed to add a flat floor above it. (yes, I have no IQ to speak of.)

Now I can make one of those ugly mcMansions with the two-story arched entries! One should always have at least one readied mcmansion in her portfolio.

A few seconds ago, I saw that my Garden Terrace has been given a star!
I was on my profile page, and had actually left it before my brain told me, "wait. wait. there was a gold star on that page!"

"Huh?" I said to my brain."

"Kwik, hit the back-button!" my brain said.

"oh. my. god. oh. my. god. oh. my. god!"

I spent maybe 30 seconds saying, "oh my god oh my god oh my god..."

If anyone is reading this, thank you soooo much. I was really proud of that lot.
I am so grateful that it was given a nod by the PTB. :lovestruc

eta the day after: a new button came this morning - a button - a new button

God, there's so much to do on this site. There are posts
discussing everything from the creation of worlds to boob wiggle.
And every time I look around the download pages, I'm amazed at the talent there.
I'm glad I made a home here at MTS. :lovestruc

From my scorecard, a very clever insult, I think:

2 out of 10 flying pigs downloaded your Fordham's Flop House.

Idle Thunks

1. I wonder if the MTS staff has ever considered fashioning an achievement button for the author of any thread that gets moved to DMcWTF...

2. It might be fun to start a contest challenge to see who can write the most outrageous thread title - something that would alarm the moderator, but then when s/he opens the thread, it turns out to be benign...

Dinky Dwellings

Date Posted: 30th May 2014 at 1:42 AM

It's time to make itty bitty houses again. I've got one finished, but I'm going to be uploading something else first.
It's small for what it is, so I'll probably put it in my Dinky Dwellings category. Approximately 600 square feet of living space
on a 10 x 15 lot, and coming in under §30K, it might qualify as dinky. And it's going up without any CC or EPs.

The thing is, I love it. I rarely play the game anymore, but when I start back up, I will definitely be using this new lot.
I like it that much. All I gotta do now is sim-test it, and get some screenshots.

I was going to keep it under §16,500, but it wasn't working. The cheaper furniture just sooo abso-LOOOT-ly
did not go with the exterior (not that the more expensive base game choices helped much).
But 28 thousand isn't too bad when life is golden...

Anudder Button!

Date Posted: 23rd May 2014 at 3:42 PM

omg. I love buttons, ribbons, pins, you name it. I shoulda been a waitress at Applebee's or one of those other restaurants that are supposed to be hip and exciting. Have you seen some of those buttons?? I remember one guy who had at least 30 buttons on a vest he was wearing. Do they still do that? I mean it's been probably 20 years...oh.

Nevermind that.

Sometime, overnight tonight, I'm gonna find a new button in my Achievements file! 10K Downloads!

THANK YOU for downloading and thanking me for my uploads.
