Why I'm Not Uploading Lots of Stuff :)

Date Posted: 14th Jan 2014 at 11:47 PM

Here's the adorable reason I'm not uploading lots of stuff right now. I do have a backlog of stuff I made before little baby arrived, so that will get uploaded. I might actually get to shade a shirt this evening if hungry baby sleeps long enough, we'll see. Those man hands in the pic are hubby's. Baby likes it when hubby tickles his face.

graphic tanks - work in progress

Date Posted: 4th Jan 2014 at 12:47 AM

Our sweet baby sleeps long enough that I can take a bit of time here and there to make a bit of CC. Not in any kind of timely manner, it's very slow, but I'm happy to get any sim time at all. Once I figure out the ring sling, can snuggle baby and sim, maybe.

This simple tank mesh is the base for my alpha sleeve mesh (with different arms). I adjusted the UV map to minimize texture distortion. Once I get this mesh uploaded, plan to upload the "simple basics" tees and 3/4 sleeve shirt textures I made a while back.

These need shading.

The Mesh is Good Enough

Date Posted: 24th Dec 2013 at 4:06 AM

Finally uploaded these...

I think I'm calling the alpha sleeves good enough. I've done what I can to reduce mesh self-intersection. There are still a few minor visual artefacts near the underarm. With opaque sleeves, you can remove them by painting the underarm skin. With sheer sleeves, painting the skin doesn't look good, so you get the minor artefacts. You can see the mesh adjustments I've made below. Time to actually upload this mesh and all the recolors I've made for it weeks ago!

Welcome Little Baby

Date Posted: 8th Dec 2013 at 8:31 PM

Hubby and I had our baby several days ago. He is wonderful and we love him bunches. I would like to upload the alpha shirts I made, but it may take me a few days. We currently live in three hour chunks.

Alpha Sleeve Testing

Date Posted: 14th Nov 2013 at 7:25 AM

This is why testing in game is needed, not just in Body Shop.
These sleeves will be part of an alpha tunic too, not just this shirt.
I want to get them right. It's a pleasant challenge so far.
Clipping is actually reduced from what it was initially.

edit: The hands were an easy fix, I had simply put in the wrong bone assignments, 50% thumb rather than 75%.
The underarms are trickier. Already did quite of bit of reshaping the sleeves and modifying the bone weights,
trimming the underarms a tiny bit, and that reduced some clipping, but added clipping elsewhere!
My current solution is to throw more polys at the problem in the sleeve underarm portion, and thus
make the bone weight change more gradual from the undarm to the upper arm in the sleeve. This will
also put some more space between the underarm and arm / sleeve. I was able to look *inside* the torso
in MilkShape to see just where and how much the sleeve was intersecting the underarm, big help!
