Mod The Sims; https://modthesims.info ================================================================================ : Hosting a New Contest : 12th Sep 2016 at 7:33 PM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=7440 ================================================================================ Hey all, I'm hosting a new contest, come join us! We'll be building our own shells and then renovating them into new buildings! Concept Land is at a premium in the city and many older buildings are being removed for newer ones, but many older ones have history that is worth protecting. Every two weeks Sim City’s Conservation Committee is reviewing preservation applications for a different type of building in the city and the City will choose to either preserve or demolish your building. While these buildings are deemed important, it is still required that they generate income and do not fall into disrepair. These buildings will have their original architecture respected and renovated for new use. Task Contestants will be tasked with building a lot from an older time period and style. Those approved by the City as worthwhile to save will be tasked with then converting and renovating it to a newer commercial space. The new commercial space will not be revealed until the shells are completed. http://thumbs2.modthesims2.com/img/1/0/5/2/6/7/5/MTS_Phaenoh-1637700-UrbanConversionContestBanner.jpg Click the picture to head over to the contest thread! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : And, I'm back to Orange : 1st Dec 2014 at 6:55 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=7116 ================================================================================ I had a good run being part of MTS Staff, but it's time for me to retire. I've gotten very busy with starting my own business, and I just can't give the time MTS deserves of its staff right now. I do not plan on retiring from Sims or creating, so don't worry about that! I hope to run into you all more on the Downloads pages! ;) ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : OMG I'm Purple! : 15th Sep 2012 at 7:04 PM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=6342 ================================================================================ Sometimes I guess it really does pay to be patient. :) I've been staff here at MTS for a little over 4 years and today I got promoted. I even skipped a level. I'm super excited to be purple, and a Super Mod now. This means I now have privs in all areas of the site, not just Bodyshop and Downloads. In the next few days I'm likely going to be organizing TS2 Objects and Modding forums, unless I get a real job handed down to me. Its always been my goal to help creators, and I feel if information is easy to find, its easy to create things. TS3 create areas are still in flux because we are still getting new EPs, but TS2 is set in stone now. Its about time to give it a good cleaning and organizing! So happy to be my favorite color! Makes me feel ok that I don't dye my hair purple anymore (just graduated college, looking for a real job, remember?) :giggler: :giggler: :giggler: :giggler: :giggler: :giggler: :giggler: :giggler: Purple! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : IDSA Boston and Summer Career-Hunting : 15th Aug 2012 at 6:36 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=6294 ================================================================================ I graduated college in June! Since then I moved sorta back in with my parents and I've been preparing for the next scary part of my life - finding a real job! Today I've flown off to Boston to stay with my cousin for a week while I attend the IDSA Conference here; I plan on smoozing with enough 'headmasters' to hopefully get a job opportunity by the end of my time here. I've already even had a bit of good luck. Only hours before boarding the plane I received a phone call about a job opportunity back in my college town of Cincinnati. My boyfriend would be very pleased if I move back again. ;) I don't know any details about it yet, but as it would have it, the person I was talking with will also be attending this conference, so we will meet up in person on Thursday. Cross your fingers for me that I find a great job as an Industrial Designer preferably at a Design Consultancy. There are a bunch of great places here in Boston I'd love to work at as well, so I'm really just hoping for general good things at this point. I'll go where the wind takes me. ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Transit Stroller Design Project : 29th Apr 2012 at 4:19 PM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=6092 ================================================================================ http://s3.amazonaws.com/crowdspark-staging/files/533/large/LittlePrintedHandout.jpg?1339795053 As part of my senior capstone project at school, I'm designing a baby stroller that works well on public transit. I've entered it in a design competition here. Please vote for me! You can vote once a week till August, and whoever has the most votes by May 30th and Aug 1st will receive $1000 and $2000 respectively to help move their design forward. Please vote for me and bookmark the page, come back each week! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Going to Europe! LEGO likes ME! : 19th Jan 2012 at 4:46 PM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=5897 ================================================================================ OMG, have I got some good news! They finally announced it! I am a finalist in the SCA Design Challenge Lego Packaging contest. In December I entered a Lego Packaging contest and my design was chosen as one of the top five! They are bringing all the Lego finalists to Denmark for a workshop on Feb 22 and then presenting to the ENG Packaging Design Conference in Belgium on March 27 (my b-day!). Read about it here: http://www.scapackaging-design-challenge.com/participate/lego-challenge/lego-finalists/ In between these events I plan on visiting Denmark, Germany, France, and Belgium by rail. If you live anywhere in my travel zone and are willing to lend me a couch for a couple of days, I'd really appreciate it. If you can't put me up but have time for lunch I'd still love to swing by. I'm almost as excited about the prospect of actually meeting some of you as I am about visiting the sights. I've got about 20 days on my own so the vague plan right now is to do five days in each country, seeing the museums and tourist attractions. If you know of great places for me to visit, let me know! Or if you have tips about traveling overseas and to these countries. I'm so clueless about everything right now and I've only got a month to get it all together! Yikes~! EEEE! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Snap! She's Back! : 11th Jun 2011 at 6:22 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=5535 ================================================================================ Spring quarter just ended for my college and I'm off for the summer for now. I'm supposed to be started a new co-op job assignment on Monday, but with the economy the way it is, and the fact that it's summer quarter and that's when every other school ever has let loose their students to find employment, I'm currently out on my tush for now. It's ok, while I wanted to get a job, I'm determined to make the most of this summer. And, they still have until July 4th to get me placed yet, so there is still hope for that. In the meantime, I've been busily trying to get caught up on my sims stuff. I have a ton of half finished projects that I'm just trying to wrap up and get out to you, which is why suddenly I've got three uploads within a week of each other. They've all been on backlog, even I can't work that fast! In addition to that, I need to get an upload for June Fitness and mid July is my creator anniversary, and you know I always do something nice for that. For June Fitness, I'm thinking some new weight machines or something like Energy bars. For my creator anniversary I'm either going to finish out my Mid-Century set or I'll upload my newer St. Bestine's Cathedral if I haven't decided to upload that later this week. Yay! I am now 24. It's getting to that age where its hard to tell people I play the sims, but I'm not gonna stop. Earlier this week I went home and had a small family party with just my dad (sibs and mom were out of town). I got to pick my favorite cake, one of those frozen Pepperidge Farm Coconut cakes. Dad gave me a sweet 1TB external hard drive, Mom gave me a puzzle with art from one of my favorite artists, and my sisters joined together to get me Sims Medieval. I tried playing it already, but I think lappy needs more RAM before it can run it well. Oh well, it was on my purchase list anyways. The game is very different from TS2 (still think 3 can suck it) so I don't know how much I'll actually enjoy it when I can run it well. I haven't given up on my Medieval Veronaville, I think that's still more fun for me, but I'll build it better from what I learn in this new game. Anyways, Happy Birthday to me! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : What's up with Phae lately? : 30th Jan 2011 at 10:55 PM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=5316 ================================================================================ So, yeah, my uploads have this downward trend line, my first year I had 100 uploads, second year had 18, third year had 9, and I've only gotten 1 up the past six months since. What happened?!? Well, a couple things. The first year I was here I was only part time at college, I had WAY more freetime to make stuff, and back then I was still learning and making really simple things. Once I figured out how to default replace stuff it didn't take long for me to replace almost all the outfits that were seriously driving me crazy. My second year I started working on all the cool larger project I had been dreaming about when I was first learning. Larger projects take time. Between all the meshing and texturing (relatively simple process) there is all the coding to do, that takes forever. In addition, I've gotten back to full time at school. That has me so busy I rarely have time to do any sims work in the fall or spring. The summer and winter months I'm away on co-op. Can't do sims stuff at work, but it does leave my evenings open and that's where I've been squeaking stuff in. Whether or not I have time to work on my projects or not, I am active on MTS pretty much everyday. I still have moderation duties and I answer questions on my boards. I'm not gone, just darn busy. As I'm back on winter quarter doing a co-op, I've had time to pick my projects back up. I'm almost done with a really great little hacked object, a phone book. Echo has been helping me with it by the boatloads. Nothing cool I've ever done hasn't been at least partly (generally a whole lot) thanks to her. I've got some more projects in the works right now, but I'm not going to get ahead of myself just yet. I can promise the phone book will make it out before April (when I go back to school) but anything else right now is still up in the air pending how uncooperative things will be. Current projects include window pane recolors and smaller driveways/garages. Here's hoping they turn out as well. The stackable chairs might be making a come-back and there might be something to do with all the strays in the neighborhood, that one I need to think more on. Anyways, I miss you all! Not having uploads very often means I rarely hear from all of you and I miss it. Drop me a line! And, if anyone has a joint project idea in mind, I'd be interested. ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : 3 Year Anniversary Project : 16th Jul 2010 at 3:34 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=4989 ================================================================================ So my third creator anniversary is coming up this monday, the 19th. As is my usual style, I'm making a celebration upload for it. It's been on my to-do list forever to make more swings. Somehow that ended up into a full blown playground set. And yet, no additional swings.... Playground Set Anyways, if you are interested in my trials and tribulations with this project, I have a very lovely lengthy thread over in Object Repair Workshop about it. I've also been working on columns, a merry-go-round, and a drinking fountain. Still in the plan are animated flags and toddler bouncy rides. If I can get it worked out over the weekend, I also might be able to include some toddler swings, no promises though. ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : List of projects I want to -eventually maybe- get around to.. : 17th Apr 2010 at 7:12 PM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=4773 ================================================================================ Ok, so its been almost a year since my last journal entry, that's probably too long. In my defense I haven't been able to do much with Sims for a while. I've been busy with school and co-op (internship). I've just started another quarter at school. I've got a very light credit load this quarter so maybe I'll find time to do more projects for you all. Lately though I've just been playing. Alexander Goth is about to get married, he has the entire town in a buzz about it. I've had this list sticky noted to my desktop for the better part of two years now and I'm tired of staring at it. I'm finding all these great half finished projects in addition to my current half finished projects. I figured I'd post a picture of the progress on them and let you decide which ones I try darn hard to actually finish. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa210/Phaenoh/Sims/Projects.jpg Animated Windmills - I need this project finished for my Redneck Mansion project, but I don't have to have it as extensively finished as I had planned. These windmills are animated (the blades turn depending on the amount of wind in game) Other than that, they are decorative. I believe I did get them to be basegame. Redneck Mansion - This lot is to be an exact replica of the really cool online picture by the same name. (Try googling it) I have one major issue left with it, but I think I might have a work around for it now. That and getting a proper windmill to sit atop the left most trailer's roof. Requires Pets Only. Random Finished Houses/Lots - Throughout all my games I have many different lots that are randomly built and furnished. Some I had intended to upload, others I just liked and then thought it might be nice to share. I've got quite a few of them (at least five off the top of my head) but I can't promise they've been created in minimal EP environments though. West Weasels Neighborhood - I have been wanting to create a full hood for some time now. My ex and I were out driving trying to find a road when he exclaimed "how the f*ck can you even see those street signs, it could be f*cking West Weasels for all I know." Right then and there I knew I had to make a hood called West Weasels. The idea behind it is that this is the town were all the Fairytale creatures come home from work to hang out and relax. Particularly the 'bad' ones. They aren't bad creatures, its just their day job. Most of the buildings are storybook cottages, slight victorian architecture, or otherwise small rural home town feel. I've only got a couple of lots left two do, but they are the big ones. Two of the houses pictured are still unfurnished. I dread taking the pictures and uploading the darn thing. Decorative Birdhouses - nothing much special here, they are just cute as all get out. Canoodle mentioned a want for decorative birdhouse and I got right on it. Unfortunately most of the meshes of these are done in such a terrible why I couldn't apply a patterned texture to them at all. They have to be remeshed. Floor Overlays - #create, mostly Leesester, requested to have floor overlays similar to Pixelhate's wall overlays. Then we could have dirty floors, leaves, ants marching, footprints, drains, gutters, and all manner of things. I got together with Pix and he did some fantastic textures for my simple mesh. I need to make up a couple more meshes and then redo most of my textures (we changed the mesh and mine sucked to begin with, Pix's are amazing.) So, those are the most current dropped by the wayside projects. Let me know what interests you the most and maybe a change of pace will get me to finish something. ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : It's My Birthday! : 27th Mar 2009 at 5:10 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=3685 ================================================================================ http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa210/Phaenoh/Sims/BirthdayBanner.jpg?t=1238299207 Today is my birthday! Thank you to everyone who has already wished me a happy birthday, and thank you CarmeeKitty, Leesester, QBuilderz, DJ_Music, and Deluxe Designs for the nice cards and presents. Send me a card, and I'll add it to my collection ;) I don't have much planned for my birthday. This is the friday of Spring Break so you'd think I'd be having an awesome time, but I went back home and all my old high school friends are away at college and don't have the same spring break schedule I do, so I'm pretty much alone. My dad and I are planning to go see a movie and later I'll prolly go hit up the local bars and see what happens. :Pint: The best part of my birthday? I'm getting a TABLET!!!! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : What's up with Phae Lately : 27th Feb 2009 at 5:45 PM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=3557 ================================================================================ It's probably time for me to stick a new journal entry up here, since the last one is from almost 4 months ago... I've been busy with school work. I'm in school for product design and we've been doing a lot with Alias. Its a really powerful 3D modeling program and I've just learned how to transform the models from wire frames into meshes. Can anyone guess what that means? It means I can take all the sweet stuff I've been doing for school and possibly bring it into the sims. I might actually be able to churn out my own meshes! I'm really excited about old furniture design we are learning about. In particular the Bauhaus movement and also 50's furniture. Mies van der Rohe, Charles and Ray Eames, Eero Saarinen, among others. I'd love to be able to models some of their work and bring it to my simmies! Well, got to get to class! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Making Medieval Veronaville: Post 5 : 12th Nov 2008 at 12:29 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=3120 ================================================================================ http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa210/Phaenoh/Sims/MedievalFantasyBanner.jpg Update: It's been a while but I've done some more work in my Medieval Hood. I've added Nightlife to my game setup so I could use Hexameter's awesome vehicles. I also included Apartment Life because a)witches are SO medieval material and b)apartments make things pretty easy living arrangements for serf and gypsys. I created a terrain that is 'downstream' from Veronaville, my Fae Forest. I plan to move Tatiana and Oberonthere after Puck is old enough to marry his sweetheart. They will leave him their estate and go back to the forest. Tatiana and Oberon will remain engaged but never marry. From what I remember of the play they were lovers that enjoyed toying with each other, so I think it will work out nicely having them live on separate lots. Tatiana will gather herself faery servants and Oberon will take up with the satyrs. I haven't decided what to do with Bottom yet, maybe she will stay in the house, maybe move in with Tatiana. The rest of the Forest will be inhabited with other creatures. I'm going to introduce satyrs, plantsims, elves, witches, and trolls. On the other side of the river will be a small town with a gypsy camp and a Midwife (good witch!). High up above the town I'll be raising a few vampires to add to the Fear of the Forest. I'm having fun with this sub-hood. My three MacBeth witches are named Hecate, Graymalkin, and Paddock. I realize those aren't the real names, but Shakespeare didn't give his three witches names. These are the closest things to it. I believe they were their pets names. Their lovely green skintone is of my doing. They are wearing many of Sherahbim's gorgeous dresses. My troll, Gruff, is living under a bridge. I've used Mootilda's LotAdjuster program to let him have both sides of his bridge. I'm not entirely happy with how I have his lot set up, so I might be doing more work with that, but he is definitely a part of my hood now. Well this last week my boyfriend took me down to Miami for a cruise to the Bahamas! No we didn't get killed by Gustov or Hanna or Ike or Josephine. We ran into a little weather DRIVING down there (btw, we live in OHIO, yeah. Never doing that again, long@$$ drive.) The weather was nice, but the waves were bad. We got trounced pretty badly by the ones in Nassau, that was a few days ago and I'm still finding sand in places I didn't know I had. I got sunburnt pretty badly too, but all in all it was a good vacation. I enjoyed getting all dressed up for dinner each night and going to the shows on the ship. One night there was a Motown singer and he had people come to the stage to sing with him and my boyfriend went down and got to sing the chorus from 'My Girl'. He sang it well and pointed right at me out in the audience that everyone turned and looked. It made me feel really special. After that we were kinda famous and everyone told him that they saw him singing and he did such a good job. I love my boyfriend! Prior to that I was still working on renovating my parents house but the week that they moved out they took the internet with them so I was stranded from the web, it was tough, but I managed. I have one more week before I go back to school. I'm pretty sure I'll be rather busy with packing, finishing what I can on the house, and setting up my *NEW* laptop! Things are a bit hectic for me right now, but I promise I'll be back to creating and updating regularly once I get back in the swing of school (late Sept). That's it for now, I have to get some sleep. Tomorrow I'm going to my cousin's wedding! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : 1 Year of Phae Creations!!!! : 18th Jul 2008 at 8:26 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=2801 ================================================================================ Today is exactly one year after my very first upload! I guess that means its my creator birthday? Anyways, I'm celebrating it with my 100th upload (also an achievement to be celebrated)! If when I started out someone told me that I would learn everything I have, be able to do all that I can do now, be Featured AND hired on as Staff within a year I probably would have choked to death laughing at the possibility. Yet here I am standing tall and proud of my achievements. I hope that I've been an inspiration to others to learn how to create things for themselves and hopefully get up the confidence to create and post for the benefit of others. Yay for Phae! Yay for MTS2! and Yay for CREATIVITY and INGENUITY! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : New Job! : 2nd Jun 2008 at 4:12 PM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=2663 ================================================================================ Holy snikies! They made me a Mod! I'm Green! I has a hat now! EEEEE!!!!!!!!! On another front, my school projects are kicking my butt, and I'll be moving home shortly, so life went quickly from being boring to being way too busy. We'll see how well I juggle it all. I love the chaos! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Making Medieval Veronaville: Post 4 : 15th May 2008 at 12:43 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=2619 ================================================================================ http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa210/Phaenoh/Sims/MedievalPeasantsBanner.jpg Update: I've added Peasants! I originally was only going to add 3 serf families and a carpenter, but one of my serf families turned out to be perfect as tailors. The first family pictured is the Haysons, mom Hadriana and son Anton. Dad tragically died in a plague of flies as did all of the other relatives in all the families, no 'mystery sim' business for me! Next is the Barley's, grandad Jessup, mom Kadith, dad Eamon, son Caemon, daughter Kaea. The middle family is the Wheatly's, grandad Cliff, dad John, and son Paul. The next family was the one that shouted seamstress to me, so the Webbers are sisters, Evelyn and her daughter Selina, and Audrey and her teen daughter Ava and son Teagan. The last picture is hottie Matteo Woods, my carpenter. To create these sims I first did some random number generating to determine how many were in the family, their genders, their ages, their aspirations, and their zodiac sign. Then following those numbers I hit the random sim button in CAS until I had a half-decent looking sim. For the children I hit the Pacifier. I want genetically correct sims dag-nabbit! Also, PLEASE don't ask me where I got stuff, almost everything I pick up I got from MTS2. Do a bit of searching here and I'm sure you will find it too. Now, for the interesting part about these families. I have only 3 women of childbearing age, and 2 of them are ROMANCE! Kadith is Romance and her husband is Family, and the other lady is Audrey. Grandad Cliffe Wheatly is also Romance and so is Kadith's teenage son Caemon. And of course Romeo is also Romance. I've never had so many of this aspiration to deal with! I haven't even opened up the brothel yet! GAH! I hope Eamon dies of the plague soon so Kadith can be the town Lady. Everyone who walks past her seems to think she is hott. The Montys have bought and started up the Farm. So far we have planted a lot of tomatoes. Thanks to a still-in-testing mod Patrizio was able to stay all day at the Farm and when I was done playing him there, I returned home, played the rest of the family and he came home at the time he left the farm. Community Time is kinda sweet. Back to the technical stuff. I've downloaded Risky Woohoo and Hide Try for Baby to simulate the lack of birth control. : thinks about all those Romance sims, shudders : And I have been given permission from the original creator of the country roads mod to upload my version so when I get the terrain paint that matches done you can expect that from me. I have not had too much luck getting the UI edit to work correctly, I have gotten it to work if your AnyGame happens to not be in US English, but thats not really what I was going for. I don't have much more for you because I went camping (medieval style!) over the weekend so I wasn't simming. Yes, I'm a geek and I'm in the SCA, but if you think its fun to play medieval sims, its way more fun to play medieval yourself! <- Forward to Medieval Post 5 Back to Medieval Post 3 -> ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Making Medieval Veronaville: Post 3 : 9th May 2008 at 3:20 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=2606 ================================================================================ http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa210/Phaenoh/Sims/MedievalFamilyBanner.jpg Update: I finished making over the families and the picture above is what they look like now. It took me a long time but I finally finished townifying all the custom clothes I downloaded (a LOT). I decided to only townify clothes that are fit for peasants or low-class merchants. I plan on having my higher class citizens go to the town tailor to have their clothes made. I've also divyied up all the money for each of the families so they all have their own manors and have around 5,000 left over to furnish their manners. I'm planning on having a carpenter be one of my first CAS sims to move in. They will be the only ones allowed to buy from the catalog. I also plan on seeing if I can make a mod that will force furniture to break once it reaches it's depreciation level. That is the one main reason furniture stores fail, our sims are perfectly content to use the same furniture for generations, nothing ever gets too old, outdated, or broken. I have also finished making up a farm for the Monty's to run. The 'Old Farm Ruins' I think it is called starts out as a residential lot, but I'm going to change it into a community lot and have the Monty's own it and run it as a farm. I plan on rolling for random sims to be my first 3 serf families. Depending on what I roll will determine if I move them all into one lot or not, but I think I need them to be separate so when they move in there will be enough money to pay to the Montys (for the land) to buy that farm. I also want to move in a midwife soon, but I don't think I will need that till someone gets sick or has a baby. Speaking of that, I need to look into a deadlier diseases mod (fixed version by piopiou on page 3), health care and preventative medicine were almost unheard of back then. I also want to mod the time for each age, I don't want my elders living to be a billion years old, life expectancy wasn't that high either. Though I'll let the midwife and any Man of Science be as old as dirt because they obviously have discovered the secret to life, or at least good hygiene. I want to go slowly starting out so I don't mess things up, but I don't know how quickly I should add families in to keep the town growing. I also have no idea when I want to start adding in more 'creatures' but I think perhaps when Oberon and Titania move back to the forest would be a good time to have some of their subjects join them. Its kinda scary (I'm one of those who likes to have EVERYTHING planned out) but I think I'm just going to have to jump in and play it by ear! <- Forward to Medieval Post 4 Back to Medieval Post 2 -> ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Making Medieval Veronaville: Post 2 : 5th May 2008 at 7:15 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=2598 ================================================================================ http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa210/Phaenoh/Sims/MedievalLandBanner.jpg Update on Medieval Veronaville: The image you see above is a sweet UI edit that I made, but it doesn't totally work properly yet. The image shows up fine in the neighborhood chooser, but I wanted it to show on the load screen so I know I am loading the right game! The other day I downloaded a country roads terrain mod, and while it was pretty, I didn't love it. I edited the images a bit and now I'm TOTALLY in love with the roads in my hood. As for the hood itself, I've completed enough preliminary work outside the game (genetics, finding hacks, clean hoods) to start work inside. So far I have gone through and 'cleaned up' all the houses in the neighborhood, I delete out furniture and replace ugly carpets. I've also given the Summerdreams their new Enayla fantasy skins and new elf/nymph outfits. I've also just finished making over both the Capp and Monty Manners and their residents. I've chosen a dark green as the Capp Color and dark red for the Montys. Next on my to do list is divide up their extreme wealth to their extrended families and get them settled in and changed clothes. And not a moment to soon either, I nominate Albany Capp's household for WORST DRESSED SIM FAMILY EVER. I plan on moving the two Capp households into the two empty large manners on the Capp side of the river and the two Monty families into the two empty large manners on the Monty side of the river. If they had enough money to do that from the beginning it might have been a little more obvious that that's where they belong! I plan on creating 'serfs' and 'merchants' or 'artisans' for my town as well. They will be beholden to the family on who's land they live (side of the river). I haven't really worked out all the details on that yet, but I'm working on it. I decided to include Pets in my AnyGame even though I originally planned against it. I remembered all the great farm animal 'pets' that I've downloaded and just couldn't keep them out of it. I plan on having farmers grow crops and raise animals (sheep, lambs, pigs, and goats) I've seen more pets made to look like animals, but these are the best in my opinion and the most appropriate for my game. Most farmers will come to work on their lords land (thank you OFB!) and garden (thanks to a hack over at Paladin's Place.) Thanks to two other hacked objects from the there the farmers will also be able to pack their produce (and fish!) into cute little sell-able crates. A few farmers will 'own' their own farm, but they will still have to pay taxes to their lord. The next class will be the merchants and artisans. These people will not be farmers but instead potters, tailors, barbers, painters, carpenters, and crafters. They will also include townspeople with 'jobs' such as the Midwife, the Tinker, bakers, innkeepers, 'town ladies', drunkards, and such. Many of these characters will only be providing flavor to the town but I'll try to see it that everyone has at least some purpose, like the Midwife will show up for births but also provide medicine for people who are sick. I'm thinking about getting a hack for deadly diseases, Maxis illnesses are a joke and this hood is supposed to be in the same time frame as The Plague. Some of the town buildings I'd like to see pop up in my new hood include a bakery, market, carpenter/blacksmith, tavern/brothel, orphanage (plague victims' kids have to go somewhere!), inn, convent/school, and a graveyard. The next class is the extended families of the Capps and Montys, basically the families that start out in the sim bin. They are part of the family so they should get special treatment, but only one person can be the lord (or lady!) at a time so, they can live free of rent in their own house and employ their own servants. (Servants is another job for the middle class, I need housekeepers, cooks, and gardeners) I haven't completely figured out the economy of the hood yet, as far as who pays what to who for what, and it's still kinda shady on what the Family is supposed to do all day. Oh, that reminds me, NOBODY is getting a Maxis job, and I've made a mod to make sure no one wants to be the 'Top of Whatever' career as their LTW. I really like trying to fulfill those, and I didn't have the heart to tell my sims that no, they could never be a Superhero. I'm thinking that the upper class could be teachers of the arts; music and dance teachers, scholars, and maybe painters. Like I said, don't really know yet. The Summerdream's are my inspiration for supernaturals. I think I'll be adding in a few more elves, nymphs, and satyrs to my hood. They will live off the land and not pay rent to the lord. I don't really know what they will do either, enjoy their FreeTime and skill up Gold Gardening badges prolly. I don't want to add in too many of these, because I still prefer the slightly more realistic side of things. The Summerdreams have enough money to finance en devours such as building a woodland retreat and they will also possibly build a park for the town. As for the future of Veronaville, its looking like Romeo and Juliette will indeed get together, and as she is the heiress and he is the second son, they will be inheriting the Capp Manor. Mercutio will be the next Monty lord but I haven't decided who his companion will be, there are a few Capp girls, but I'm kind of intrigued with the idea of giving him Tybalt. As soon as Puck is an adult, Tatiana, Oberon, and Bottom will be moving back to the forest so he can offer the Manor to Hermia. Now that Tatiana and Oberon have their fantasy skins and nymph outfits, they don't feel quite right in that house anyways. Puck's skin doesn't have leaves or designs on it, but he is not a natural color. Hermia enjoys it. Kent Capp and Bianca Monty will eventually get together but not before Romeo moves in with Lady Capulet. Not sure if she will still be young enough to have kids but she should have time for at least one or two I think. I'm going to try to keep the town decently time synced. I'm not going to be obsessive about it though, that doesn't sound fun to me. Antonio is going to stay at home to raise the twins, I'm hoping that works, depends on how the Monty funds get divided. Though, I'm pretty sure those kids will need a Governess, I'll think about that. The large Capp family is going to be emulating I believe Nostra Damus's family. He had like 16 kids and to get away from the noise built himself an observatory on the roof. I check in SimPE and Albany's thing is Science, so its pretty darn sweet. I'll be replacing his pimp coat with another equally embarrassing, but period, cloak, fit for any Man of Science. Not sure what Regan and Whats-his-face have in store for them, I really hate playing the work-a-holic no-time-for-kids type sims. And since I'm taking away their jobs, what will they do instead? Well, thats it for now! <- Forward to Medieval Post 3 Back to Medieval Post 1 -> ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Making Medieval Veronaville: Post 1 : 2nd May 2008 at 11:44 PM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=2588 ================================================================================ Ok, so the reason I haven't been frantically uploading things like I usually tend to is because I've finally cleared enough crap off my little lappy to set up my medieval neighborhood!! I'd been planning this out for a while but its hard to even work much less dream about a new hood when I have less than 1% free hard drive space (I know thats REALLY bad). I deleted stuff and moved other stuff to my external and magically had enough space to throw my hands out and even twirl! You get to follow along with this project, you can even make your own based on how mine is set up (but I won't be uploaded much of anything for it, I am HEAVILY editing other peoples files for this project and reuploading is generally a no-no.) For starters I set up an AnyGame using Numenor's great tool. The reason for this is so I can have a separate downloads folder for all the medieval stuff and keep my regular game from crawling to a complete stop. I decided to include the Holiday Packs, OFB, SSN, and FT in my game. OFB so I can run an integrated hood (plasticbox made it sound so fun), SSNs so my peasants can freeze in the snow, I mean grow stuff, and FT so everyone has more things to do because TV ain't an option. Holiday packs are in there because some of the clothes are nice and they gave me some nice candles too. The next step was to get myself a clean hood to start in. I had already decided that I wanted to turn Veronaville into a medieval hood like months ago, so I finally get to get that started. I started out with a clean template (Veronaville on bottom of page 10) and pretty much have been following this thread loosely. I had my friend CarmeeKitty make up a Medieval Names list and she plans on uploading it here eventually. This will ensure that I won't be seeing Goopy GilsCarbo or Benji Long running around my hood. Next its time to get all the custom content ready for the game. I have decided to use a mix of skins, HP's Idolarty of Flesh skintones and a genetisized version of most of Enayla's fantasy skins. I've made myself 3 more skins of HP's to fill in the spaces between them so I have a nice blended range. These skins and the fantasy skins will all be rearranged on the genetic scale so that the pale normal skins are next to the pale fantasy skins. That way when Hermia Capp and Puck Summerdream get together, their kids will still have light skin. (The Summerdreams are all going to get their tacky face makeup removed and will receive Enayla's skins instead.) As for eyes, I'll be using HP's Precious Jewels set because I think they are pretty. They are not cartoony but not realistic so they win. Also, there are a lot of them and that was another deciding factor, I don't want my townies to have only 5 different shades of eyes. This thread has been helpful for decustomizing things. The next step is finding clothing! I've finished gathering the clothing I like, and almost all of it came from right here. (MTS2 is the best!) There is too much to directly link to, but these are the main creators work I am using. Its all very well done and beautiful, so check them out! AlexasRosa, Aligeth, Earendil, EnblithTheFair, Helaene, iamliz13, sherahbim, SussisSoGoodSims, tabala, tiggerypum, and zoej. Many of these creators were collaborators in the Midsimmer Night's Dream and Dark Project sets. I highly recommend those sets as well. There are a few more random pieces of clothing that I'm using but you can find them here by searching for Medieval. As much as I originally hated Maxis Clothing Hiders (because I prefer to replace ugly Maxis textures), they are really coming in handy for this hood. I plan on editing mine a bit to exclude any Maxis outfits that I deem 'medieval enough'. Making all these clothes townie friendly is going to be a very long project. I've tried using the Wardrobe Wrangler but to no success. It's useful for changing the categories that the clothes appear in but it's 'Townify' feature doesn't seem to work for me. Though, maybe I was using an old version... I'll give it another shot. Editing 700+ clothing files individually with SimPE is not really my idea of a great weekend project. I've also been slowly starting to pick up mods and objects that will help out this neighborhood, but since it doesn't actually exist yet (have to have the genetics and clothes ready for townies) I haven't put much focus on that yet. I'll be using a terrain mod to get dirt roads (there are a couple here, haven't decided which one I like best yet) and some other things. So yeah, that's where I am and what I'm doing! -Phae <- Forward to Medieval Post 2 ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Phae's 21st Birthday!!! : 27th Mar 2008 at 3:41 PM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=2505 ================================================================================ Today is my birthday! Sw00t! I'm legal now... Going to see a movie with my mom and then to Harry's 'Chocolate' Shop (read alcohol). Tomorrow I'm going to a night club with my two best already 21 friends, and then when I get back to college (I'm on spring break, remember?) I'll be hitting the bars with one of my friends who has their birthday a few days apart from me. Life is good. (Don't worry about alcohol poisoning or anything like that for me, I still can't stand the taste of any alcohol, I'm just psyched I can get into the places, mostly night clubs, now!!) ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : FEATURED!!!!! : 7th Feb 2008 at 1:32 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=2352 ================================================================================ OMG! I got featured! The final post of my Katrina cottages got featured! (I'm guessing it was meant as a the entire set was worth one feature, thats why the other 4 didn't get trophy icons, but they are still 'Top Picked'). Whatever. I"M FEATURED. Snap, I finally get that little trophy icon next to my name that I've wanted so much!!! I can barely breathe. This has so made my night. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Contest Entry (what else do I blog about?) : 19th Dec 2007 at 4:13 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=2214 ================================================================================ So yeah, contest entry. Sweet action Tire Swing. This is the first time you get spoilers, meh. Echo and Tig have been LOADs of help, Echo made the original package, and helped me with some of the beginning stuff, and Tig helped with the animation, thats right, 'Tiggerypum-Animation'. It took us far too long to realize that yes, it won't move if its not assigned to bones... I was hoping to be able to create brand spanking new custom animations for it, cuz right now they just kinda melt into and out of the tire when they want to get in or out, but from a rather lengthy explanation by Wes_h, its not looking so good, but I'm still gonna try! I'm hungry,...brb sandwhich. ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Contest Apathy, or probably Jaw Pain : 11th Dec 2007 at 4:13 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=2183 ================================================================================ Sw00t, cool. I got another little magic plumbob guy. Now I has 2 gold shinies under my name. I was just thinking today that I wasn't going to enter any more contests. I don't have time for my other projects anymore. Maybe I'll keep entering them, dunno. Maybe I'll just scale back so I can collect all the stickers. I like the stickers. I have 2 gold ones and 1 silver one. ... My teeth still hurt. ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Wisdom teeth .... o pain : 7th Dec 2007 at 12:20 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=2170 ================================================================================ I had all four wisdom teeth removed yesterday morning. So much pain. The pain meds are luckily doing an alright job of keeping it manageable, but I wouldn't recommend the procedure to anyone who wants a Happy Holidays... Its not all terrible news though, since I'm stuck here in bed (jaw is swollen so much its messing up my equilibrium in my ears, I can't stand without getting dizzy) I've got nothing to do except sleep and sim. I'm working on creating some custom terrain paint from Maxis floors right now, I always hated having angular well-defined paths, so terrain paint is the way to go. Please make it stop hurting. ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Winter break! : 2nd Dec 2007 at 8:40 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=2154 ================================================================================ Ahh, time to relax. I'm off till Jan 7. Though, who am I kidding about relaxing? I'll prolly be non-stop sim creating till then. Ok, not really, I'm scheduled to have my wisdom teeth out on Dec. 5, and I do need to spend some time making Christmas presents, and Mom is having me take a course on indexing so I can help her with her jobs. And I have drawing homework. But aside from all that, I'll be here simming stuff. Maybe I'll actually play for a little while too! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Fairytale Contest : 16th Nov 2007 at 7:09 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=2102 ================================================================================ I got started early with my idea, and then school knocked me back quite a bit. I'm starting to think I might not have enough time to finish my project. I need to make 52 outfits, I've got three done. About half of them require at least some mesh work. Then I've still got alot of other work and problem solving yet. On the school front, the quarter is starting to come to a close, meaning all the teachers are trying to get in as many more projects as possible. For Monday I need to have 5 shaded geometric shapes, and 3 photos and at least 3 sketches of clay geometric shapes, which I have to redo, most of the class made them wrong, teacher was vague. Then there is also the Final Project to worry about. No idea what else is getting assigned between now and then. In my other class I have to get my saturation project mounted, do the optical project, redo the contrast project, and continue on the leaf project. Luckily the leaf project is also the Final project. Oh, and document everything in my journal. Ok, 2am? Time to go to bed! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Sw00t! I Got Some TOP PICKS! : 3rd Nov 2007 at 8:46 PM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=2054 ================================================================================ So I had been getting a little bummed at none of my work being featured, but the rate at which I turn things out, I wasn't surprised. Two of my things got Top Picked. I have little stars now! That makes me feel better, my winning contest entry for The Ancients and my neighborhood Sand Simolean Point got starred. Go check them out if you haven't seen them yet (or just want to see them with fancy little stars)! I was kinda disappointed that my Baby Doll Hair didn't make the cut, but whatever, water under the bridge. Off to go work on this month's contest entry! (and no, I won't tell you what it is)! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Finished my Shirley Temple, Hair Tutorial, and Report on Store : 18th Oct 2007 at 4:45 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=2004 ================================================================================ I barely squeaked in under the wire, but I finished my contest entry mostly on time. I made Shirley Temple. Go check her out! While making her hair I was getting increasingly fed up at the lack of any full-blown hair tutorials, so I decided to write my own. Go check that out too. I still have my Sims for Real Life Store, and so far its a total flop, I've sold one thing. I've made a profit of a $1.50. Things aren't looking so bright right now, and I still haven't found another job near campus. Rent will be due soon and I'm 4 months behind on my energy bill. Could you do me a favor and take another look at the things I've made? Maybe one of them could end up at your house. Cafepress offers you 30 money-back guarantee so its not really a risk. If I'm one of your fave creators, check it out for me? I will never make my in game creations pay, but there isn't anything wrong with a little fan art right? Anyways, before I sound too desperate, go look. ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Real Life Sim Items! : 8th Sep 2007 at 6:38 PM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=1852 ================================================================================ I'm sure someone might have noticed that I haven't had an upload in a couple of days. This is because I've been working on my latest project. Making sims items REAL. Thats right, stuff from the game to your living room. So far I have buttons, magnets, hats, a calendar, baby clothes, a bib, bags, and some T-Shirts (will be adding more t-shirts as I go), posters, pictures, and notebooks. This stuff does cost money, but most of the purchase price goes to Cafepress for materials. If you are interested in any of this, or just want to help me pay the bills, click here to check it out. Thanks! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : EEEK!!!! Ok, I submitted my contest entry back on the 13th, its still in approval que. The mods say they are a bit behind. Thats alright with me, I was panicking that they didn't get mine or something. On to other things. 10 to be exact. I'm running them all at the same time because I get stuck on some part of one, I'll go back to another. I'm pretty sure I'm making progress on all of them. I really like it when I go to look something up for one and I find something really useful for another. Like the tutorials. I live off those things. I'm proud of myself that I can apply the information in ways other than how the tutorials are specifically spelling out. ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Slave Objects, I think I'm going to cry. : 13th Aug 2007 at 5:48 PM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=1753 ================================================================================ I remeshed my columns for my contest entry. Now I want them to link together. I've been trying and trying and trying to get them to connect. But I am just thwarted at each turn! I have a single story column as my repository. I have a 2 story that I need to link to it. Currently, I've recolored its original master to achieve the desired effect because it is still linked to that one. NO MATTER WHAT I DO. I also have various other 'broken' column pieces that were cloned from another completely free column. Remeshed those and I want to link them to the original 1 story version. Those don't work AT ALL. I don't know WHERE they are getting their texture from currently, happily though, it looks fine. When I try to connect them to repository object one of two things happens. Either the game loads and they appear flashing blue in the neighborhood (haven't chanced going farther than that) or they crash my game entirely. I don't know what to do anymore. ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : milkshape....very spiteful program indeed : 9th Aug 2007 at 4:13 PM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=1731 ================================================================================ Ok, so I've figured out the basics of editing an existing mesh, and I ran with it. Good, cool, peachy keen. Then I run into this problem. I can't FOR THE LIFE OF ME make the face look halfway decent, or even human for that matter. Everything else is working out beautifully, but it won't mean crap if I can't get the face to look right because thats always the most looked at and important part of anything. Case in point, no one would download a sim with a gorgous body but an ugly face. Just ain't happening. I'm thinking there are similar quality standards for statues with faces too. ARG! ok, thanks for rant, back to task -Later (saturday, 1:45am) Ok, I've figured out the program, and I stole meshes from other maxis objects to make the face. Now it looks KICK A$$. I was really confused with the UVmap, but I eventually stuck with it and figured it all out. It looks decent enough now, atleast for my first ever mesh. However, bad news, SimPE states the face count at 'way too many' that can't be good. I loaded up my game and (though not in play mode) looked around at it and such, it didn't seem to slow my game down, and I sim on a laptop. Granted, its a good laptop bought for doing design work (hey thats like meshing and viewing in game!) but its still a laptop and my video card isn't as fastasmic as I'd like it to be. Anyway, this means I'm almost done with my contest entry! You'll see it soon, I promise! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : OMG LEARNING HOW TO MESH EDIT!! and a rant about radio talk shows : 6th Aug 2007 at 3:05 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=1717 ================================================================================ Ok, so I was getting annoyed with how a key part of my contest entry was looking, so I downloaded that trial version of Milkshape and started deleting things I didn't like. I was only half following the tutorial, cuz I was pretty sure it wouldn't work right anyways, but when I loaded it into the game, I was like HOLY CRAP IT WORKED!!! cuz well, it worked. Then I started looking at other bits I could tweak here and there, and now I've been at this all day and its starting to look alot like my source picture!!!! I'm getting really excited about it. However, I'm not really liking the Milkshape program, I'm going to look into getting a copy of 3D Studio, I used it in highschool, but its been a while. But anyways, back to topic, IT WORKS!!! Ok, small victory, but you have to start somewhere, right? Ttyl, I'm going to go back to work on it now. And as a side note, whoever came up with the idea of radio talk shows on regular channels needs to be shot. I want my music back. GAH, this is worse. Now they are playing music in the background that kinda relates to their problems BUT THEY ARE TALKING ON TOP OF IT!!!!! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Current Project : 3rd Aug 2007 at 4:08 AM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=1708 ================================================================================ I'm working on a contest entry. I'm not going to give away any surprises, but I will tell you that its a Community Lot. The construction is, for the most part, finished, now I'm working on the custom floor and wall coverings, and depending on how cooperative it wants to be, a complicated object recolor. I also am still working on my other larger (and alot slower projects). I've been receiving A TON of help from Numenor and Inge Jones on one in particular. With any luck, I might have a working template version by sometime next week. Hurray! ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : Poll for what I should work on next : 27th Jul 2007 at 11:05 PM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=1681 ================================================================================ -poll closed ================================================================================ ================================================================================ : 10th One! : 24th Jul 2007 at 11:22 PM : https://modthesims.info/journal.php?do=showentry&e=1664 ================================================================================ Hurray, Disney Babies made number ten, allowing me to start this journal! Here I plan on discussing projects I am currently working on and where you can submit requests or suggestions. (I'm not the worlds best modder, but I will tell you straight up if I think I can do it.) Here's a little info about me. I'm 20, and in college. My major is industrial design, that means when I grow up I get to design the next iPod, or the next sweet furniture set. Currently my dream jobs include working for Apple, designing furniture, or designing playsets for Barbie. I'm decently computer savy, and HIGHLY creative. My college is one of the best schools for my major in the United States, and its hard to get into. During my first year there I became extremely proficient with Photoshop and a couple 3D modeling programs. Sadly, currently, I don't have any 3D programs on my laptops, otherwise you'd have seen new meshes by me already. Personally, I find too many strange things with Sims, and I will endeavor to make mods to fix these strange sim behaviors. That is where I want to end up, but I have to work up to that, since I have never done any of that sort of stuff before. Right now, we are in the secondary stages of clothing recolors. This is where SimPE starts to come into play. BTW, I've never used SimPE before, and it really confuses me, so we truly are starting at the beginning. If anyone reading this admires my work or has a question as to how I did something, write a response, I love getting feedback, and I love helping others with their mods. -Phaenoh ================================================================================ : ---End File---
