Finding out that the top choice college that I have a 99.999% probability of attending offers a modern Jewish literature class. All of my favorite authors are Jews and all of my favorite novels encompass postmodern Judaism. I'm so freaking excited to take this class and finally get to talk about the books I love without encountering quizzical stares from people who've never heard of them.

It's more yesterday, but it was still good news. I have another job interview set for Thursday, which is wonderful! The company had requested to speak to me, but couldn't get through to do so because I was out of town. I was starting to think they had given up on me as a candidate, but they called to set a date last night. :-)

I went on this family history site for Socials homework and I typed in my birth name and the country I was looking for - Germany - and up came a person by the name of Karl, who lived in the same small town I was looking for, who had a deceased wife and no other family and was looking for a girl about my age. We took a look at his picture and we think we might have just found my biological father.

Yesterday, I had a really hectic day with so much going on, both good and bad things, but it was a tiny moment that made my day. We were in the theater, working backstage, and I was really stressed out and on the verge of tears. I went downstairs to get something, and when I returned, I heard singing from above. I looked up, and this guy I hardly ever talk to turned around, waved at me and gave me a huge smile. It was such a pleasant surprise, he's a local celebrity and has the reputation to be a bit stuck-up, but he was actually the first person to be nice to me that afternoon.
Today, getting some sleep after three weeks of mindless running made my day. I woke up at 1:30 PM. |
I sent in a C.V and cover letter for a specialised spa treatment place that's just opened close to me, about an hour ago now - and I recieved an phone call asking me to come in for an interview tomorrow. Yay! :-D

My brother overheard this on a city bus today, it's the dispatcher on the two-way radio to the driver of another bus (so my brother is only hearing the dispatcher's side of the conversation).

This quiz. It really highlights just how ridiculous media reports of "pit bull" attacks are. Out of the 27 breeds presented I can identify probably 20-25 of them, and it still took me two tries to get the right answer. If some yahoo from a newspaper thinks they can do better than that, I'll be happy to let them report "pit bull" attacks. These days "pit bulls" are just a media scare-word and scapegoat for "large, short-haired dog that bit someone" (or not, I've seen news stories about people who almost got bitten by "pit bulls". Seriously?
 People get "almost bitten" by all kinds of breeds!), I am certain that "pit bull" viciousness is vastly over-reported in the media. |

Actually, forget that. Something just made my day WAY more. I've got a miserable cough, so I've been unable to accompany the children's choir like I normally do, and I've had to cancel my piano lessons for today. No, none of that "made my day"! What did make my day was that when I canceled one of my lessons, the girl's mom emailed me back saying that her other daughter said, "Oh man, I don't want to go [to choir] without Emily - she keeps all our singing together!" :3 |
I heard someone use the phrase 'V PLates' today. One of my friends was telling us how she hasn't told her new boyfriend that she "still has her plates", so Kitty asked what plates she was talking about and she replies in a low voice, "My V plates" and then had to explain what she was talking about. That is such a strange euphimism!

I took a box of old magazines to the library magazine exchange and cleared out my bedroom closet so my new clothes (including the boots I've been drooling over for the past month) will fit. The feeling of space totally makes my day!
