Miss World Competition 2011 - Final Scores!

Welcome to the 2011 Miss World competition! Our planet is filled with so many beautiful cultures, and over the next thirty days we will come together to celebrate the beauty that is inherent in each nation in the world.

The models entered in this competition are the best of the best, here to represent everything their country has to offer. However, there can only be one winner This is a Sims 3 contest only. No EP's are required, but may be used.
Custom content, including sliders, hairs, hacks, and pose players are all fair game. This includes pay CC! Sims, however, must be made yourself! No Sim stealing or tweaking.
All entries must be received on the day they are due, no exceptions.
Please keep everything appropriate. Remember, this is a pageant! Keep it PG-13. That means avoid all swears. Pictures can contain partial nudity, e.g. for swimwear and/or lingerie rounds.
Keep photoshopping to a minimum . Cropping and airbrushing is allowed, but avoid color correction or special effects. Greyscale is only allowed when specifically listed.
Each picture should be its own picture- no combining, mosaicing or collageing (yes, I know those aren't real words.)
All contest rules must be followed. A full list can be found here All models should be female, YA, and have realistic skin tones. Body types, skin color, and appearance are all up to you! However, your model should represent the country she is from in ethnicity, stature, and clothing. Only one model from each country, please.

During a round, your models will receive up to five stars for each of their challenges. Depending on the round, your models will have to model for pictures, show off their talents, answer questions thoughtfully, or any number of challenges. The stars will be averaged together for their score. This leads to a possible total of 25 stars in each round, up to 100 overall. By the end of the competition, the contestant with the most stars wins.

Each picture will get their stars based on the following criteria:
Aesthetics
Best Representation of the Country
Creativity
Cultural Accuracy
Use of photographing techniques

Each judge will keep these criteria in mind while choosing how well they will score each contestant.

Scores will be posted on a round-by-round basis for all to see. All scores are final and public.

There will also be two BONUS ROUND opportunities.
Round 1 - Application CLOSED - SCORES

Round 2 - Culture

Bonus Round - Day in the Life - Closed SCORES
Round 3 - Runway - CLOSED
Bonus Round - Portfolio - CLOSED
Rounds 2, 3, B2, and Final Scores

NOTE: Due to the holidays being so close, late entries are acceptable, so long as they are submitted before the deadline for the final round. Late entry scores will be edited into the post with the scores for that round. Please message me before the due date for that round, otherwise your late entry will not be accepted.

missroxor 11th Dec 2011 7:22 PM

OoOoOoOo, this looks pretty cool Sadly I have a lot on this week plus I have a glitch in my game that would make completing the first round impossible but just on the off chance that I somehow dix it and get all my other jobs out the way in time to enter I was wondering a few things:

Photoshopping? Yay, nay?
Mosaicing? Yay, nay?
What's the plan for working around Christmas/new year?

um...think thats it...for now :p

lipglosschaos 11th Dec 2011 8:45 PM

Missroxor: You made some excellent points, so I have updated the rules to fit these circumstances. I will be accepting applications through Round Two, and will also be accepting late entries for rounds due to the holidays. No photoshopping besides the basic airbrushing/cropping. This is about your skills IN GAME, not your skills using photoshop. Hopefully now you will be able to enter the competition.

LadyAwesome 11th Dec 2011 9:10 PM

LadyAwesome 12th Dec 2011 2:37 AM

CircusWolf 12th Dec 2011 3:25 AM

lipglosschaos 12th Dec 2011 4:03 AM

It's all updated! Get more people involved, please!!

LadyAwesome 12th Dec 2011 5:15 AM

Is the creative shot ment to represent your county, or show your personality?

Dreamydre 12th Dec 2011 6:22 AM

When you say heritage do you mean ethnic background? Like Irish, Italian, etc. ?

LadyAwesome 12th Dec 2011 10:52 AM

Yeah I would say so Dre.

Dreamydre 12th Dec 2011 9:28 PM

Name: Abbi Conrad

City and Country of Birth: San Francisco, United States

Age: 26

A Brief Description of your Heritage: African-American and German

A Short Bio: I was born Abbi Marie Conrad on July 11, 1985. I'm a 26 year old fashion photographer and fashion model for Ford Models, and I have been modeling since I was 13 years old, and have also modeled for Maybelline, Vogue, and Cosmopolitan. I've also walked the runway for the Vicoria's Secret Fashion show for two consecutive years (2008 and 2009). I was born in San Francisco but currently reside in New York City with my 7 year old son, Fox.

What do you love about your country? America represents what every person wants: the freedom to do what they want in order to improve their life and the life of their family. The freedom to speak and write without fear of imprisonment or death. The freedom to be.

Question: Why do you believe you were chosen to represent your country in the Miss World competition, and what image of your heritage do you wish to present to the rest of the world? The image of my heritage that I wish to present to the rest of the world is represented in my heritage by being a personification of our melting pot society. I represent my country by showing America in a new and vivid way. Also to dissprove the notion that we are a pigfarm, and do nothing but sit around and eat slop all day. Contrary to popular belief, we are the Home of the Brave not the Home of the Oinks.

Your creative shot can be *anything* you want! Be creative!

It basically just means a little snippet of your ethnic background.

Dreamydre 12th Dec 2011 9:43 PM

Got it! I figure I'll have some spare time over Winter Break, I've been waiting for a Sims 3 Model contest forever! I hope more people decide to join!! ^_^

LadyAwesome 12th Dec 2011 10:07 PM

Yeah, but I dont want to do something that we going to have to do in another round lol

Elexis 12th Dec 2011 10:24 PM

Can I enter with my model if I have used her in previous contests?

EDIT:
Dreamydre, you have used pay CC in your entry, I think you will have to change your pics before this round will end.

EDIT2:
Never mind, mods decided that it's ok to use pay/donation CC in the contests when the host hasn't stated otherwise

LadyAwesome 12th Dec 2011 11:27 PM

I also am using spain :D

ReyaD 12th Dec 2011 11:36 PM

Just throwing this out there, but Spanish looking models don't necessarily need to be from Spain.

Latin American women are more beautiful, anyway. >_>

LadyAwesome 12th Dec 2011 11:54 PM

I had another look and I couldn't see anything, it was just a bit of confusion I think, as the last contest was pay CC free and usually mts does not allow pay cc. But Why would you withdraw because you cant use pay CC dre?

I don't think I have anything other than payed cc

ngluvjj 13th Dec 2011 12:41 AM

I think I have used some payed cc in my previous contest here :/
and some of other contestant do the same too :/

my entry :D

Name: Leelavathi Ahsan
City and Country of Birth : Baleshwar(Balasore), India
Age: 22
A Brief Description of my Heritage : Indian, Spain(my grandfather)
A Short Bio : I was born in a family that stick strictly with Indian tradition, so I as a woman should not work and study more than highschool. They want me to get married immidiately after I finished school. I rebeled against them and run away to USA, I work hard part-timing everywhere since no workplace accept a highschool graduated like me. When I work part-time as a cameo in a movie, A talent scout from Starbridge agency ask me to be their model. I had nowhere to go and no money to spend so I said yes, and now I'm a model. After a while, I realize how I miss my country, the music, the smell, the crowd, everything so I go back there last year as a model. My family finally respect my desicion to become a model. not a housewife.

What do you love about your country? India is not a rich country but people there have such a dignity that surpass england nobleman, they're confident and always go all the way of what they believe. Indian culture, the songs, the clothes, ceremony they're all unique and one and only. Indian creativity is amazing, we see indian everywhere in this world as many type of workers and to me that's amazing.

Question: Why do you believe you were chosen to represent your country in the Miss World competition, and what image of your heritage do you wish to present to the rest of the world? I'm chosen because of my confidence and my attitude. I am a born spokesperson, a public speaker and I'm a model, I am the one for this and they saw it. I will show the world that Indian have dignity, Indian is creative, and I want to prove to the indians in this world that we are not babus.

To clear some things up (sorry I can't answer everything on an individual basis, I'll be responding in batches...)

Absolutely! As long as you made her yourself and she represents a country, this is definitely fine.

Are you sure? I read the Contest Forum Rules and I don't see anything about payed CC not being allowed. I do have to know for sure though, because nearly all of my CC is payed content, and I'll just withdraw from the contest early.
After a reading of the rules, my final decision is that pay CC is acceptable- whether it's from the Sims Store or not. I think the MTS site rule is that uploads of houses/Sims/etc. cannot have pay CC that must be downloaded to use the object. For this contest, I will accept any kind of CC, as I don't think it really gives any one person an advantage over another.

It's fine to leave spots in your post empty, however, please realize your entry cannot be judged until all components are there. This means you will need to get your creative shot uploaded by Sunday, December 18 if you want the scores to be with everyone else's.

I will update the main post to include your entry as well as all those who have committed to joining. Please everyone make a little note in your signature so people join the contest! You'd be surprised at how many people do this sort of thing. Spread the word, we need at least ten contestants to be able to continue!

It's funny because after reading your entry I thought you were from India until I read this You have incredible insight of Indian customs, and Leelavathi is stunning, those eyes!!!

I added the group to my signature, in hopes of getting more people to join.

Really? I was always under the impression that all contests should follow site rules which (I think) say you're not allowed to have pay cc in any pics...maybe I'm wrong (I'm too lazy and tired to go check) but it might be worth checking with Heaven before everybody loads their pics with pay cc.

Edit: Aww, Kayla, sorry to hear that *hugs*

Wow this seems really good! Can I have a save spot? Oh and I'm sorry if I ask, but english is not my mother language, so I would like a little bit more explanation about heritage! =) in the application round: "A Brief Description of your Heritage:" and the "Question: Why do you believe you were chosen to represent your country in the Miss World competition, and what image of your heritage do you wish to present to the rest of the world? 3-10 sentences"
Also, does the creative shot have to represent the country? =) and one last thing xD In case I can get a free spot, my country would be Italy !

vhanster 13th Dec 2011 2:10 PM

Might join, but I'm not sure I can post my entries very soon. Is it okay to reserve countries?

sandymdh 13th Dec 2011 3:41 PM

Name: Cecile Clarke
City & Country of Birth: Paris, France
Age:25
A Brief Description of Your Heritage: My mother is French, my father is English. I was born in France but was raised in England for 10 years until they divorced. I have been living in Paris since I was 12.
A Short Bio: Education has been my main goal since moving back to France. High School at first and then I studied Art History at university. My parents were so proud though I think they would have preferred me to have settled for a 'sensible' career as after graduating I found myself drawn to a Fashion Design course. Since completing that I have been working for a small fashion house in Paris, mainly setting up for shows and some basic design. I hope to work my way up to being a fully-fledged designer. I met Christophe at a show. He is a good friend and also a photographer. He takes pictures of everything. He took some of me, showed them to some contacts and the next thing I know is that I'm being asked to apply. I wasn't sure at first - after all, I'm not a model but I couldn't turn down the chance to represent my country.
What do you love about your country? Wow, where do I start? It is a country rich in culture and tradition where the ancient blends in with the ultra modern. A long and colourful history has developed a nation of people who embrace their heritage and are proud to share it with the rest of the world. The people are - well 'joie de vivre' is a French term for a reason. They live life to the fullest, are very family-orientated and are more concerned with quality rather than quantity. I love 'Cafe Culture' - there's nothing better than relaxing outside a cafe, coffee (or tea- the English part of me reappears sometimes) in hand, watching the world go by. I like to imagine the lives of the people I see - one day I might even write down some of my stories. With Paris being one of the world's fashion capitals it is very stylish and I was taught that creativity is inspired by observing people - in which case I should make an excellent designer! Mustn't forget the food and drink too!
A: I believe I was chosen as I am not a model. Sounds silly, I know but I see this role as being more of an ambassador for my country, particularly in the arts and fashion areas. These two areas, for me, represent the ancient blending with the modern. I hope that people will see that a hard working, educated woman, dedicated to her profession has an inner beauty which I want to shine. Originality is vital in my job so though I may not be a model by profession I don't see it as an impediment. I'm sure I have a lot to learn from my fellow contestants and am keen to take in every moment on this journey. After all, the contest is short lived but the role of Miss World, for the winner, is a whole year of adventure. I think I have shown that it's a journey I would take very seriously and my enthusiasm for my country and for the role itself will present France very favourably.

Yes, that's fine. Let me know what country you'd like, but you should decide quickly! And if you can, try to choose countries that are in areas of the world we haven't seen yet. This won't be much fun if it's just Asia's Next Top Model

I'm going to have to say no to this, since we're looking for very strong cultural areas. Somewhere like Puerto Rico wouldn't have the same kind of idea.

It should be against a plain white/grey background. The body just must be clearly visible. Think of this as a Victoria's Secret Modelling resumé- you want the focus to be you not the backdrop.

Lol Before my country gets stolen xD I'll have Italy! <3

Elexis 13th Dec 2011 9:51 PM

Since we can't use Federal Districts as countries then I choose Russia as whole (lol)
But bear in mind that there's a lot of ethnicity groups in Russia, so I would like to know if I'm allowed to chose one very specific? I mean it's hard to represent the whole country if the rest half of people look very different there.

Applicant: Eleonora Fonte

Name: Eleonora Fonte

City and Country of Birth:
Florence, Italy

Age: 22 years old.

Brief Description of Heritage: I'm 100% Italian, pure pure!

Short Bio: Hello, I'm Eleonora Fonte, but everyone calls me Ele! I'm 22 years old, and according to what others say, I'm a cheerful and friendly person! Sometimes I also get defined as crazy, but I beleive everyone of us has a little bit of crazyness trapped inside,no?
I won miss Teenager Italia back in 2006, and it was such a wonderful experience! I got enticed by my friends and family to participate in Miss Mondo Italia, the competition that chooses an Italian Beauty representative for Miss World, and guess what? I won that too! haha, that's why I'm here afterall!

What do you love about your country? Well I must say, absolutely everything! But two things in particular are food and art! Italian food is really something that other countries envy, it has always been tried to get copied, but no one succeeded in recreating the traditionnal taste of homemade pasta, or the simplicity of our pizza!
And, do I really have to talk about Art? Leonardo da Vinci says it all! And our floating city, Venice! The amazing Tower of Pisa! All this makes of Italy an artistic and solid country, and I really feel I'm lucky to be born here!

Why do you believe you were chosen to represent your country in the Miss World competition, and what image of your heritage do you wish to present to the rest of the world?
Italy is for sure, a country admired worldwide. However, I want to proove that Italy is not only what stands behind the Monalisa. Italy goes way farther than that! My country is not only about food and culture, and fashion, but it's also about Humanity, and Peace. And I think I have what it takes to do it, the world will discover a new Italy through my character, and my heritage really helps in realizing that; since I'm nothing but Italian!

This is a good point, but I stand by the fact that your model has to represent its own country. Otherwise we could have two people from Russia! You could make your model a mix of both ethnic groups, that would help, or just choose the largest ethnic group.

City and Country of Birth: Rio Verde, Federative Republic of Brazil.
Age: 20
A Brief Description of your Heritage: Portuguese, Indian and European decent. Both mt parents were born and raised in Brazil.
A Short Bio: Born and raised in Rio Verde, with my younger brother and my parents. I love to dance, travel and see the unknown. When I am not doing modeling jobs, I help out with my mamãe with pharmaceuticals. Which someday, I hope, I can find cures for all sorts of infections/diseases.
What do you love about your country? What I love the most about Brazil, is the the variability of art, where it derives from the body of dance to the color of the trees. It is exotic, enchanting, mesmerizing, wild but yet civilized. We are also bio-diverse. Which provides us with clean water, fertile soil, among other things.

Question: Why do you believe you were chosen to represent your country in the Miss World competition, and what image of your heritage do you wish to present to the rest of the world? I was chosen to represent my country because I have the drive, passion and attitude to make things happen. Support our beleifs, religion and economic goals. I am here to share our cultural diversity, to prove that you can have curves and still be beautiful. Also to share the color and artistic spirit we all have living in us.
Agradeço-vos

I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to this kinda stuff but this seems like so much fun! I really want to give it a go. Trying to decide between two countries since those are the only two I've spent a length of time in that haven't been taken and I'd like to try to make things easier for myself, lol.

I live in NZ and have never been anywhere else lol except Australia lol

It's easier to choose the country you've never been in, because it's not hard to notice facial features of a human which you don't see very often. Google image search could give you good example pictures of any people (even bushmen or eskimo).
When you choose your usual country, it's much harder, because all faces could look just "normal" to you, and if you can't find anything than stands out - it will be hard to make unique face.
This is what I did with my Indian model, I've never been near India and I didn't saw many Indian people in my whole life, but I tried to look up for some "common" faces and my Sim came out wonderful

That could be because of your browser settings, check if there's anything in Block section. I could see the images perfectly.
Once I wasn't able to see images from modyourpanties because my browser randomly blocked them.

Name: Selena Li Sen Lin ( 黎森林 )
City and Country of Birth: Guang Zhou, China
Age: 22
A Brief Description of your Heritage: 100% Chinese
A Short Bio: Greetings, my name is Sen Lin, but you may refer to me by my English name- Selena. I was born in the city of Guang Zhou, and spent most of my childhood there; however, I moved to Hong Kong to pursue higher education, and I am currently a student in The Hong Kong University of Science & Technology.

What do you love about your country? China is one of the richest countries in the world, and not without reason. The Chinese are known for their intelligence, and their perseverance. They know how to use the talents and resources they are given to achieve their goals, and they do not falter when faced with hardships along the process. Whether it is a pursuit in art, music, academic, or business, the Chinese's ability to maximize their results are truly astounding.

Question: Why do you believe you were chosen to represent your country in the Miss World competition, and what image of your heritage do you wish to present to the rest of the world? I was chosen for my skills and personality. I am born with various talents but, not only that, I have the desire to develop them and make the best use of them. I want to show that we Chinese have ambition, we have integrity, and we can shine bright without having to resort to illegal actions.

That's a great point. I was determined to run with my own country (Australia) but the more I thought about it, the harder it seemed. Not just the making of the sim but also representing my country itself using the sim model and pictures. I'd end up with kangaroos on a beach and that's about it, lol.

I'll go with the pretty Japanese sim I made and I just got back from there so it shouldn't be too hard.

ngluvjj 15th Dec 2011 5:54 AM

I was going to change mine to Japan (remember Lyla?) :p

Name: Emi Matsumoto
City and Country of Birth: Nakano, Japan
Age: 23
A Brief Description of your Heritage: Japanese

A Short Bio: I'm the middle child in my family, having an older sister and a younger brother. I was going to follow my parents into the medical profession but discovered my passion for photography in my early teens. While it took some time to gain the approval of my parents, they gave me their blessing to study the arts. After a small modelling stint to help me raise funds to pay for my education, I discovered that I enjoy being in front of a lens as much as I like being behind it!

What do you love about your country?
The sights and bright lights of Tokyo to the serenity of the mountains and countryside draw me in not only as a budding photographer but as a person wanting to experience everything life has to offer.

Question: Why do you believe you were chosen to represent your country in the Miss World competition, and what image of your heritage do you wish to present to the rest of the world?

I believe I was chosen for this role because I'm a strong, confident woman who has the ability and the want to show the world everything that Japan and our people have to offer. I'd like to share with the world not only the strength and dedication of the Japanese people but also the many aspects of our unique and fascinating culture. I love my country and I hope to express that in this competition.

A Brief Description of your Heritage: Scottish and French

A Short Bio: I was born on January 11,1991. I have modeled for Dollie and other Australian magazines only until now have I been asked to go world wide. Becoming a model was never a big thing for me when I was a little girl. Since I was raised by my father because my mother died in childbirth. At the age of 13 I found out my mother was a model and a pageant winner so that's when I decided to become a model to follow in her foot steps. At the age of 15 I started to started to model in ads with the help of my father who often had to drive for hours to get me to places. Today I work on a farm for money to help with my courier.

What do you love about your country? It's a beautiful country with real laid back friendly people and i can promise you there's no country like Australia. Our nature is outstanding in itself from the blistering outback to the cold mountains in Tasmania it really is a remarkable place to be.

@LadyAwesome - I can see it fine, don't worry. I know what you mean. I spend 90% of my time building and only play to play test a world usually. My usual sim-making skills are getting a townie and making them look more tolerable (less EA) and that's about it. Oh and to those new to the Pose Player, I only downloaded it 3 days ago so I'm right up there in the NOOB stakes in this one! I plan to have fun with this and learn lots from everyone else - even if I come last :-)

I've been working on one that'll hopefully add a little diversity Just getting some feedback to help make her less EA-cartoonish since model making really is not my comfort zone, lol. Also, I really can't see me being finished by the initial deadline but you said you'd accept entries up until 23rd I think so that's what I'm aiming for. I'm not 100% settled on my country but I think I'm going for Saudi Arabia so please can I reserve that? Thanks.

PS Loving the entries so far, I know I won't be able to compete with most of you but it looks like a lot of fun with a good bunch of simmers so bring it on! :D

PS I still have a glitch that might stop me entering but I'm gonna work on fixing it, lol

Name: Alex Vaughn
City and Country of Origin: Berlin, Germny
Age: 23
Heritage: German, a little bit Italian
Bio: My friends and family often describe me with one simple word: weird. Other words that have come to define me are: spontaneous, dramatic, unpredictable, and just plain awesome. I've also been well known for my fertile imagination. I presume this all sprouted by my love of the arts, espicially literature. As a young girl, my family tranferred to the US for both educational and occupational reasons. After college graduation, I moved straight back to Berlin. I've been working as a model since, while writing my book in my spare time.
What do you love about your country?
Everything in German culture just fills me with wonder. Germany is known for being "Das Land der Dichter und Denker," the land of poets and thinkers. Ever since I was little, I had fallen in love in Germany's diverse styles of the arts and their representation of art. I also love the variety of cuisine there, everything from Italian to Japanese. Many important and historical figures have originated from Germany, such as Albert Einstein, Johann Sebastian Bach, and more.

Why do you believe you were chosen to represent your country in the Miss World competition, and what image of your heritage do you wish to present to the rest of the world?
It was a little shocking to me when they announced that I was chosen out of so many other applicants to represent Germany. If I were to guess why, it was most likely because of my love for German culture, and I did have a bit of an advantage from my modeling experience.
Many people look down upon Germany with scorn and contempt because of World War II and Adolf Hitler. Others often forget that the Nazis invaded their own country first. I want to show the world that Germany has a lot more to offer than living under Hitler's horrendous shadow.

Miss Russia

Name: Yesenia Azarova

City and Country of Birth: Irkutsk, Russia

Age: 21

A Brief Description of your Heritage: A mixture of Siberian nations: Russian, Buryat, Siberian Tatar

A Short Bio: Born and raised in the city of Irkutsk, near the famous "Pearl of Siberia" - lake Baikal. Since my early years I was in a local folklore ensemble, I sing Russian folk songs and played three traditional instruments: Domra, Balalaika and Svirel.
After graduating from school I started studies in Irkutsk State University and I'm currently on the way of getting my history degree.

What do you love about your country? The beauty of its nature. There are so many beautiful wild places, untouched by humans and covered with their mystery. Lake Baikal is only one of them, but as we say here - if you haven't seen Baikal, you haven't seen Siberia.

Question: Why do you believe you were chosen to represent your country in the Miss World competition, and what image of your heritage do you wish to present to the rest of the world?
Answer: I believe I was chosen because of my rich heritage, as a mixture of many ethnic groups I can represent my country as the most exemplary person. Since the media has distorted the image of the Russian nation, I wanted to show the world our real face. We are honorable and strong people with thousands years of history behind us, our unique culture may be a mystery to outsiders, but we are proud to be who we are.

Thanks for all the wonderful entries, everyone!!! Please try your very best to get them finished up or submitted today, and if you can't, you shouldn't have them in any later than Friday, December 23rd (one week from now). Remember: Your entries will not be judged until they are finished. Scores should be posted Monday, but if you turn your entries in late, they will be posted ASAP. xx

lipglosschaos 17th Dec 2011 5:58 PM

For those of you who have already submitted your entries, your scores should be up by Monday, December 19th. Those of you who are turning in your applications late, please try not to get behind. I'd really rather not see every single entry being submitted a week late, it messes up the whole time table.

I will be posting the Round 2 information sometime this weekend, so stay tuned!

A quick note about Bonus Rounds: There will be Bonus Rounds in rounds 2 and 3. In order to make them more challenging, NO late entries will be accepted for bonus rounds, whether you have an excuse or not. Because of this, however, bonus rounds will only add a few points to your scores and will not be able to completely tip the scales.

We still need a few more Emergency Judges! And judges, if you will be too busy to score a Round, be sure to PM me the Friday that round is due, otherwise we'll have to scramble at the last minute.

Miss Scotland

Name: Kimber Wallace

City and Country of Birth: Moray, Scotland

Age: 21

A Brief Description of your Heritage: I’m kind of a Heinz 57. I have Germanic, Roman and Briton ancestory.

A Short Bio: I am currently a student at the University of St. Andrews. I am studying foreign languages and history. I intend on joining the RAF after graduation where I plan to put my knowledge of languages to good use as a translator.

What do you love about your country? I love its rich history and language. The people are warm and welcoming. Scotland is where you’ll always find a hearty fish and chips meal and a spot of tea.

Question: Why do believe you were chosen to represent your country in the Miss World competition, and what image of your heritage do you wish to present to the rest of the world? While Scotland is part of the UK there are distinct differences as in our own culture and language. I want the world to know how much Scotland has been a part of shaping the world as we know it today and what it has to offer today. I believe they chose me because I am a good representation of today’s youth in Scotland and it helps that I have red hair ;P.

Hey everyone! You may have noticed the changes I made to the original post and to my post laying out the rules for the application round. I'll be finishing up the banner for Round 2 soon, and once I'm done with that I'll be able to release the information!

I'm also cooking up a little surprise for all the contestants, so keep checking back in!

lipglosschaos 18th Dec 2011 2:50 AM

Round Two - Culture

This entry is due Friday, December, 24th, but late entries will be accepted through the end of the competition.

Your second round will be all about honoring your culture and respecting others. This is your opportunity to take pride in your heritage and choose how you want the nation you represent to be portrayed to the world.

Note: This may require a bit of research on your part.

Please provide:
-A full-body picture of yourself dressed in modern style from your country. This can be against any background but must be in color. Explain how the youth of your country dresses and how important fashion is there.
-A headshot of yourself that represents the makeup and hair that is common in your country. This should be against a plain white background. Explain how the stylish people of your country like to look and how important image is to most people.
-A picture of yourself that depicts culture from any different period of time in your country. Explain how your picture matches the culture of that time period. (Note: Because of limited CC, there is quite a bit of leeway on this one. Just do your best.)
-A picture of yourself that depicts you doing something you like to do that is very common to your country or your general cultural area.
-Answer the following question: What do you love about your country? What do you think is a large problem in your country?

This entry is due Friday, December, 24th. No late entries will be accepted under any circumstances.

This round will be a snapshot of one day in the life of each Miss World 2011 contestant. Participation in this round is optional, and scores will be tacked on to your final total. Each of these challenges will be considered as a whole. You can earn up to 5 bonus stars in each bonus round (this is to avoid skewing the results).

Provide the following:

-A picture that shows your work. Briefly describe what it is that you do and why you love it.
-A picture that shows what you do to let off steam and have fun. Briefly describe how you got interested in this and why you love it.
-A picture that shows what you do in your community to give back. Briefly describe how you got started and why you love it.
-A picture that shows a special talent you have that you work to refine. Briefly describe how you got interested and why it is important to you.
-Answer the following question: What do you love most about the daily life you live? What makes your life happy and special?

missroxor 18th Dec 2011 5:33 AM

Round 1 - Egypt

Name: Anippe “Ani" Sadat

City and Country of Birth: Cairo, Egypt

Age: 23

A Brief Description of your Heritage: 3/4 Egyptian, 1/4 Turkish

A Short Bio: Born and raised on the outskirts of the city I later moved to downtown Cairo to live with relatives while I studied History and English at Cairo University. I graduated this summer with honors and have recently taken a position as a junior curator at the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities. It was a colleague there that first tried to convince me to apply for the Miss Egypt beauty pageant. My initial reaction was not positive but I came to realize that it’s not all about dressing up and looking pretty. I hope to use the attention to advocate causes I feel passionate about and highlight the beauty and culture of Egypt.

What do you love about your country?
With over 5000years of recorded history, Egypt has possibly one of the longest and richest histories on Earth. It’s not only a source of great national pride but has also captured the attention of enthusiasts and scholars the world over for centuries. Of course, with the good comes the bad but combined, it’s what made Egypt what it is today: our history formed our cultural identity. I am proud of our roots but the thing I love most about my nation is our ability to put so much faith in honoring the traditions and customs of our ancestors, without allowing ourselves to become complacent in our ideals. We’re not afraid to look to the future, to challenge ourselves and to make history by daring to shape our own future.

Why do you believe you were chosen to represent your country in the Miss World competition, and what image of your heritage do you wish to present to the rest of the world?
I believe I was chosen to represent my country because while I have a deep appreciation and respect for Egypt’s vast history and traditions I am a progressive thinker and prime example of what it means to be a modern Egyptian woman. While I enjoy many of the freedoms of Western women such as the ability to vote, to educate myself and to earn a living I, like most Egyptian women, am also a faithful and virtuous Muslim who understands the importance of living a clean lifestyle.

In entering this contest I hope to show the world that Egypt is more than what’s written in the history books, that we are a constantly evolving nation with an eye on the future. I also hope to use this opportunity as a platform to highlight women’s rights, to show the world that it’s possible to be a good, religious woman without restricting women’s freedoms and rights.

[Edit] I am pulling out. - contests are ment to be fun. This seems like a lot of research, time and effort. Too many rule changes.

Plus its christmas, there is TOO MUCH stuff to do before then, and I have a 50 hour week ahead of me.

missroxor 18th Dec 2011 6:26 AM

I’m a bit worried about the second round too (so much so I almost considered not submitting an entry for the first). It seems like a lot of work and I think it might scare people off continuing. Especially since it’s over Christmas: more work = less fun.

To illustrate my point I did a quick count and in total the round requires 1body shot, 1 head shot and 6 creative shots (I define creative as requires a set to be designed and maybe props) so 8 images total. 3 of those need descriptions that will require time spent on research and in addition there’s 4 other short descriptions (no research) required and 4 questions to answer. I know the bonus round isn’t required but there are those who’re in it to win it so will always attempt the bonus round.

I hope this doesn’t come across as rude, I’m only hoping to help you out and hopefully prevent any loss of contestants.

Elexis 18th Dec 2011 6:38 AM

I must agree on this with previous posts, it really seems like a lot of work right before one of the most important holidays.
Most contests on here usually ask for 2-3 images per round which seems more manageable. Also, some of the pictures require to show events (charity, common activities in your country) which are almost impossible with such limited possibilities we have in Sims 3. Moreover, some countries have quite big list of CC made for them while others have none at all.

P.S. One of the round 2 questions (What do you love about your country?) is already asked in round 1.

lovelydia101 18th Dec 2011 7:28 AM

Right now i'm jumping for joy I didn't choose a foreign country since I chose my home country it's easier to answer questions about Australia. And I do agree Christmas is coming soon and I have to leave in two days to celebrate it at my mothers so it's alot harder to finish rounds I decided to do rounds at night especially because I suffer from insomnia and often play Sims when I can't sleep I believe you should take out the bonus rounds it's way to much and kinda unfair on the people who are way to busy to do them.

P.S I love your entry missroxor since I was 6 I studied Egyptian history I found it the most interesting I love your model to she's gorgeous.

Round 2 Culture

Explain how the youth of your country dresses and how important fashion is there.

Fashion is very important and were you live has alot of impact. The young females are more into natural colors and making fashion comfortable and stylish. Right now in Australia it's summer and it can get real hot so nice breezy clothing is the best as you can see with my shirt plus mini shorts are always fashionable here also I gave the shorts a bit of a distressed worn out look which is also popular. And not to forget the famous converse which really goes with the outfit. As you can see the nice natural look is very popular here.

Explain how the stylish people of your country like to look and how important image is to most people.

Image is also important and just like clothes the natural look is the most stylish. Girls these days try to go for long hair with either blonde or brown color. Having a lazy hairstyle (not that much work went into it) is also popular plus having straight hair is very fashionable

Explain how your picture matches the culture of that time period.

This picture shows a girl who is a convict and the sadness of the period having that she was young and alone like so many others. As you can see the sun is rising on her face this represents the future is bright for all that suffered during this time.

A picture of yourself that depicts you doing something you like to do that is very common to your country or your general cultural area.

As you can imagine my options are pretty limited so most of the things we do in the outback is outside when you live on a farm (or in my case a cattle station) having a nice ride on a horse is a lovely way to spend a hot summers day (or a swim in your local creek).

What do you think is a large problem in your country?
Racism though Australia is very multicultural the racism can get really bad. We often call people from other countries names that are very rude. The worst thing that ever happened would have to be a couple of years ago on Australia day there were these huge rampages were many young Australians bet or nearly killed people from other countries and the sad part is small rampages often happen on Australia day every year.

Note to everyone:

Before you just go pulling out of the contest, you should know a couple things:

-"Research" mostly entails Googling one or two things, and because of the Holidays you have almost halfway into January to get everything done (except the Bonus Rounds).
-The creative shots don't have to take a ridiculous amount of preparation...
-As for description, I say *briefly* and I mean *briefly* You don't have to write a paragraph, just 1-2, MAYBE 3 sentences.
-Bonus rounds are just that, Bonus Rounds, they don't add that many points so there's not pressure to do them.
-PLEASE voice your concerns before you just drop out randomly! It doesn't really help anyone to just leave.

EDIT: A note specifically about Round Two:

This is probably the most difficult round in the contest, but the round that is over Christmas Week is easy peasy (no pun intended, EasyPeaze) lemon squeezy. You have as much time as you need to get it done, and the Bonus Round really isn't required. I understand that some of you might have finals, grades closing, cleaning (ew), and other things to do, I myself have to pack and be in Columbus, OH on Saturday. This is why you have the whole length of the contest.

I also think some of you are overcomplicating things a bit. These "Creative Shots" do not require you to build a whole set- you could take some of them anywhere, in Sunset Valley, inside a house, etc.

If you'd all like, since scores don't come out for another day or so, I can change the requirements for Round 2 if most of you/us do not think it is doable. I would suggest snapping a Creative Shot with the aforementioned in mind today before you automatically assume it's too difficult. Lemme know how it works out xx

I should hopefully be fine with Round 2 - with the bonus round I presume with 5 pics and 5 points we could just do 2 for 2 points or 3 for 3 etc? Or is it all or nothing? Also do we need to put the round and the bonus pics on the same post as that could be quite lengthy? I guess with each point in the bonus round being 1 picture/answer they don't have to be as 'perfect' as those in the main round anyway. Might not be so bad:-S
Although I agree with Elexis about not repeating that same question.

Lipglosschaos, many people enter contests because they want to win (that's why all of them have a winner), and stating that they can just submit a bunch of not well made pics in a hurry isn't the right way to motivate them.
Then let me ask something, if bonus round won't add many points, isn't the 4 pics a bit too much? The first round had only 3 pics, 2 of which didn't require the background scene. I can assure you, that setting up the right scene is probably the most time consuming process. The quality should be more important than the quantity.
Your post is just screaming with words "either you want to win this contest, or have Christmas". I see that it could end up as a big train wreck.
As the member of this community I highly recommend you to review your requirements and consult with contest mods or more experienced contest hosts.

Did I repeat a question? I didn't mean to... I'll change it today. And yes, you could just do part of the round for that many points, if you wanted to!

Contests are meant to be *fun*, and as there isn't really a prize the goal to me is just to do your best, though everyone has their own agenda.
The bonus rounds are optional, so I don't see why there is so much speculation about them. You can do them if you want, but if I made Bonus Rounds equal to regular rounds, scores would get ridiculously skewed.
I never said it was Christmas vs. the contest. You have until January 13th to get all the rounds in, so there should be time to do so, and though I don't encourage you half-do anything, you don't need to be extravagant. Middle ground is always best.
