Introduction

Are your sims charismatic? Are they filled with ambitions to become famous movie stars? If so, bring them to our Warren Bros Film Studio talent seeking event!
You will be able to choose from a big variety of movie genres and titles to try your Sim's acting abilities in, dress them up and prepare to pose for the camera. Our best acting experts will look for originality and creativity, so make sure your Sims learn their role before they go in the spotlight

Round Explanations

There will be 3 rounds, each round will be explained in detail below. You will be presented with one different movie genre and 7 fictitious movie titles each round. You can choose one of the available titles and present YOUR Sim as the probationary actor for the role in that movie title. All of the titles are free for your own interpretation, so you can use your imagination to create a character you like, show your Sim's talent to transform into the role!
The round challenge will consist of 2 parts: presenting your Sim as an everyday actor and presenting him in the role (with the appropriate apparel/makeup). The requirements will be explained once the round is open. You can enter with any Sim made by you, it's not restricted by age, gender or humanoid species (yes, even the toddlers can be movie stars too!). Use your imagination, get creative! That’s what this is all about!


Rules

General:

1. Forum Rules Apply.
2. Sims 3 only.
3. There will be no eliminations.
4. One entry is allowed per person. Round 1 counts as your application round.
5. All CC (pay included) is allowed.
6. You need to present a different Sim for each round.
7. All Sims should be made by you, no Sims stealing or re-tweaking.
8. No entry editing after it's linked to the main post. Entries edited after that won't be judged!
9. Open for all skill levels, even beginners.


Picture:

1. All images must include your Sim in it (any age, sex, nationality or species, included supernatural).
2. Photoshopping - You may do any of the following with your image editor: add borders; text; a logo; crop; resize. You may not do anything else. If you’re unsure, please ask.
4. No image editing/changing after your entry is added to the main post.
5. Pictures should follow upload guidelines: minimum of 800x600 up to a maximum of 1280x1024. Entries with smaller pictures than the minimum size or with no pictures at all won't be accepted!
6. You can use an external image hosting site or just upload your image straight to the post.
7. Please keep all images PG-13.


Prizes

The winner of the first place will receive a request for a set (up to 6) of custom poses of their choice OR a pair of shoes for Sims of their choice. The set or shoes will be made by me and become available for download on MTS
Also - a cute blue ribbon under your username!

Timeline

This contest will last for 3 rounds. It starts on November 16 and ends on December 14 one second to midnight GMT.
Round one will last 14 days to get the application entries and round 2 and 3 will last for a week each.
If we will get the maximum number of contestants earlier, the round 1 will be closed and no more entries will be accepted. No place holders.
One winner will be determined at the end of the 3rd round by a panel of 3 judges.
There will be no individual extensions.

All entries due by November 30 and one second to midnight GMT. Timer.

Judging Parameters

1. SIM’S APPEARANCE 35 points overall:

• Originality 25 points: Does the face sculpt look unique and interesting beyond the regular look of TS3 Sims? Do all of the features (not just one or two) contribute to a unique overall look? Would this Sim stand out from the crowd?
• Role Appropriate 10 points: Does the Sim seem appropriate for the role? Does the character they play represent the mood/theme of the movie? Does the appearance match the character description?

2. IMAGES 25 points overall:

• Pose 10 points: Does the chosen pose fit the theme/emotion of the image? Is your Sim using a neutral face expression for his casual/everyday mugshot?
• Staging 10 points: Are your Sims at an appropriate distance and angle that shows them clearly? Where props were used, are they fitting to the Sim's character and back-story?
• Lighting 5 points: Is the lighting at an appropriate level so that we can see the Sim clearly or does the Sim look too bleached/too dark?

3. WRITE-UP AND PRESENTATION 20 points: Does your written element paint a picture of who this Sim/character is? Is it presented in a way that flows well and is easy to read?

4. CUSTOM CONTENT USED 10 points: Does the used CC fit the theme? Did you used reasonable amount of it in your pictures or your Sim gets lost under it? Note: for the role appropriate look of your Sim you can use any amount of CC, but for the everyday look try to keep it at minimum - no more than 5-7 pieces of CC.

5. RULE ADHERENCE 10 points: Are all rules mentioned in the rules section of the contest overview adhered to?


Each judge will score each entry out of 100. With three judges this means the maximum points you can earn per round is 300.

Round One: Fantasy/Sci-Fi Round 1 scores are HERE!

Warren Bros Film Studio is seeking a new star for their latest fantasy/sci-fi movies! Are your Sims capable of playing wizards, aliens, Jedis or other fantastic heroes or villains? Let's try them out!

Round Objective

Your objective is to present them your Sim's portfolio for the role in one of the given movie titles, so make sure your Sim is capable of playing in this kind of movie.
Choose a Sim that you want to join in and do the following:

1. Close-up frontal picture of your Sim's face while in casual/everyday look. Nothing fancy, just a regular mugshot in a neutral background with a neutral face expression. Remember - no smiles! The use off CC should be kept at minimum for this picture (5-7 CC pieces max).

2. Close-up frontal picture of your Sim's face while in costume/makeup of the character he'll be playing. Neutral background and face expression as with the first screenshot. While the character's appearance is up to you, make sure it fits the movie! CC usage is not limited for this picture.

3. Full body shot of your Sim in the costume/makeup of the character. This is your "promo" shot, you can use creative poses, props and effects. Setting a scene for the background is nice, but not required, you can just use plain background if you like. CC usage is not limited for this picture.

4. Answer the following questions:

- Name and age of the actor.
- Short bio of the actor - 3-5 sentences.
- Short description of the character your Sim is playing - 5-10 sentences. Also, don't forget to mention what movie title you will be using!

Note: Grammar and spelling won't be judged, but try to do your best to make the post easier to read.

You don't need any EP to make an interesting character, good CC or even a proper CAST'ing can help you transform your Sim into a creature from another world. Remember - imagination is your best friend!

Timeline

This round will last for 14 days, longer than other rounds due to the Thanksgiving holiday period in US. It starts at November 16 and ends November 30 one second to midnight GMT.

Round Two: Horror/Thriller Round 2 scores are HERE!

Note: I highly recommend that you wait for the scores before starting on your entry. This may help you to improve and possibly get higher scores!

The first round was easy - all about magic and robots, but this round requires more intensive execution, because it's all about the action! This time Warren Bros Film Studio experts are looking for a different kind of talent - horror/thriller actors to play in their most blood curdling blockbusters! Not everyone is suitable to play in this kind of movies, so choose your Sim wisely.
Are your Sims ready to be transformed into a monsters, brave soldiers, killers or can they play an innocent horror movie victim convincingly? Either way - bring in your costumes and prepare for the camera!

Round Objective

Note: You need to use a different Sim than you used in the first round!

As with the previous round, your objective is to present them your Sim's portfolio for the role in one of the given movie titles, so make sure your Sim is capable of playing in this kind of movie. This round you will need to take all your pictures directly in-game, not in CAS screen!
Choose a Sim that you want to join in and do the following:

1. Close-up frontal picture of your Sim's face while in casual/everyday look. Nothing fancy, just a regular mugshot in a neutral background with a neutral face expression, just like you did for the first round. The use off CC should also be kept at minimum (5-7 CC pieces max). You can merge a few angles in a collage, but make sure your image is big enough! The minimum size is 800x600 pixels. No CAS pictures.

Round Three: Comedy/Romance

The final round is here! It may seem that this is the easiest movie genre to show your Sim's into, but don't be fooled, as the best comedians say - true emotions are hard to reproduce on stage, so this can be the hardest round of all. This time your Sims will be applying for the most emotional movie category - comedy and romance. You have the biggest choice for your interpretations, it can be either an emotional and heartbreaking drama, a fun and happy love story, an intriguing soap opera, a funny adventure story or anything else you can come up with! 7 movie titles are presented for you to interpret, so do your best for the final round!
Lovely faces and honest smiles - this what describes the best actors for this genre.
Can your Sims play love, sadness, happiness, shyness, jealousy or innocence? They can? Alright, bring them in! :D

How do you sign up?

Question: Is Store content considered "CC"?

So it's fair on others, you're not allowed to reserve a spot so you just have to submit your entry for Round 1 to sign up.

Make sure you read the rules though, the host said "No entry editing after it's linked to the main post" so you'll need to post all parts of your application/round 1 together at the same time.

ETA: Eternila, typically store content is classed the same as stuff pack content as far as MTS is concerned but in this case it shouldn't matter since Elexis said all cc, inc pay is allowed I'm sure she'll correct me if I've got it wrong :D

I have a quick question, sorry if it was answered but I just didn't read carefully enough, anyway, are we allowed to tweak our sims a little in CAS fo the other photos that show how they will appear in the movie? Not major changes, just little ones that make them look a little different yet still recognisable.
Also I'm just clarifying, so we make a new sim for each round?

You are allowed to change everything, except moving the facial sliders. This means you can change makeup,hair,facial hair, skintone, eyes, clothing and accessories, but you can't tweak the Sim's facial features.
Yes, each round - different Sim. Using same Sim could result in repetitive contest rounds, plus making new Sims adds a little more challenge to the contest in general

She is 25 and full of energy. Her wish is to become the world's greatest actor. She loves all things sci-fi and will be playing the part of an elf princess (Arana), who will go to extreme measures to save her kingdom, in the movie called Fantasy World.

In a world filled with goblins, witches, fairies, elves and more. There is an evil source slowly killing all the good and replacing them with evil. It's up to Arana, the elf princess, to find out who is behind all of this evil magic spreading. She will have to go to the extreme, fight ferocious monster and solve all the riddles there is. Arana will do the unthinkable just to save her kingdom.

Hero Returns:
It was 2326, twenty-two years since the first way and the Planet was under attack once again by extraterrestrials, they all knew it would happen again one day. They gathered thousands of volunteers and sent them into space to the front lines in hopes to keep the invaders at bay while they tried to collect their elites and veterans. The story centers around Jessica "Zoom" Walbert who had been a hero to the people during the war of 2304 who had disappeared three years after the first war had ended, but with the return of the beings trying to destroy their planet she decided it was time to come out of hiding. The first scene starts with her walking out of the military facility suited up and ready to head to the ships for the final debriefing before being shot into space.

Emilie Finn had started out as a child actress in commercials and very small parts in TV shows, but her dream was to become a star on the big screen. At age 28 with encouragement from her friends and family she managed to land the lead role as Jessica "Zoom" Walbert in a new Sci-fi movie called Hero Returns. Her ambition to be her best to entertain the moviegoers, made her a hard worker while her energetic, friendly and charismatic personality made her likable by most of the entire film set minus a few.

Jessica was born to Chinese parents in the lower parts of Bridgeport however in a tragic accident her mother and father were unfortunantly killed. She was later moved to a small orphanage in Moonlight falls where she grew up and discovered her magical powers. These powers allowed her to manipulate herself into an acting career.

The Returned Hero
The returned Hero is the second movie in the Chronicles of Alucior Trilogy. In this movie Warrior Alucior returns and together he and Queen Atara combine their powers to expel the attacking goblin race out of the kingdom.

Elven Queen Atara
In the movie Jessica plays a 156 year old elven Queen named Atara. Atara specialises in magic and archery and rules a large kindgom of Elven folk. At the beginning of the movie, Atara and the knights in her kindom are fighting off a brutal goblin race who is trying to aquire the magical crystals of Jalee which provide the kingdom with their magical powers and healing skills. She is a very ambitious and kind woman however during battle she isnt scared to protect her kingdom and the crystals, when all hope is almost lost the Warrior Alucior returns to the kingdom and the goblin race is overthrown.

Thalia Carson. Aged 21.

A small town girl, Thalia feels completely out of her element when anywhere but where she loves to be. On set is one of those places she loves. It was an accident that led Thalia to her acting career, a joke with her friends who dared her to try out for a movie. While she only got a small part in it, the experience made her want to try again, thus leading to the lead role in Space Wars.

Princess Adhara from the constellation Canis Major, is the intended bride for Emperor Deneb as part of a treaty to stop an ongoing war. When her ship is attacked by a third party, all communication is lost. Knowing that no one would make it in time to save them, Adhara has to figure out her own way out of this.

Okay, this will be my first contest, so I'm a little nervous ^^; Hopefully I did everything right!

Meet Waverly Donner, an up-and-coming, young actress. She is 23 years old, but don't let her confidence and style fool you. She hasn't been acting for very long, and this is her first major role!



Waverly plays Sharla, a blind, elven priestess, who was abandoned on the step of a temple shortly after her third birthday. She quickly became entangled in a mysterious prophecy regarding the return of a legendary hero. It becomes apparent that Sharla is the hero of old, reincarnated, as her skills with the bow develop, despite her blindness. And soon, the final piece of the prophecy falls into place as a dark evil swoops over the land, seeking to reclaim the kingdom it once ruled. But can Sharla destroy this force once and for all... or will she be fooled by a seemingly friendly face?

Minimogut, for the first two pictures we need to clearly see your Sim's face - the rules say that we need "Close-up frontal picture of your Sim's face", this means you need to take them directly from the front.
It's ok to have a creative angle for the last picture, but the first two require front view of the face. You can add a profile view in a collage as an additional angle, but the front view is required, so please change that

Once there she waited tables and cleaned houses for six years before a casting director discovered her and cast this smart, witty, black haired bombshell in the lead role of his film, Space Wars, as the evil villain Queen Xolo of the planet Allegor.

It's the year 2084 and earth and the planet Allegor are locked in a terrifying battle. In 2079 residents of Allegor were disguised and sent to earth to study mankind and their habits, with the ultimate goal being to test their secret formula, Simsay, on unsuspecting humans. The formula was designed to turn the humans into Allegor's dolls and build up an army of humans. But their plan was discovered and they were locked up in test facilities. Angry over the way her people have been tortured by the earthlings Queen Xolo is determined to exterminate the humans and control earth once and for all. But will she succeed?

When Henry Ales built the 20ft. tall robot known as Vortex his purpose was to be a keeper of the peace, helping those in danger and being a friend to all. Little did Henry realise that Vortex would malfunction and destroy everything in his path. Living in the ruins of what was once a thriving community his goal was to create another force of robots to counter his original, he would have to scavenge, beg, borrow and steal to get the parts he needed without knowing if he would even succeed.

Now years later, a young man who can stand the kingdom's suffering no longer goes in search of the only person he knows who can unite the kingdom against Kael; his best friend Alaric. The Magical Adventure
 

The bizarre plot featured a bubble-blowing traffic warden that never fitted-in with all the other traffic wardens, because as it turns out she was the princess of a magical kingdom known as Scatholm, a kingdom which consisted of nothing more than a single forest and a Primark.

Scatholm would be threatened by the evil Doctor Backlick, who threatened to break the Lovechuck Dam to flood the forests and drown all the magical chipmunks! It’s up to the newly returned Princess Popoff and her talking rat-faced animal sidekicks to take back the forest! Rella was perfect for the part of the doey-eyed and grotesque looking Princess Popoff, who was meant to be, like, really beautiful on the inside or something like that.

In the end, shoestring-budget special effects and acting that a corpse could surpass meant the film received a seething negative reception, although in later years it would be universally regarded as a classic.

(Please keep in mind that pictures that show Rella's make-up and her on-set and everything were deliberately made to look as cheap and nasty as possible, because I thought it would be interesting to have a film that had no budget. Although I’m somewhat regretting it now because everything looks so rubbish. )

His skill with magic has protected the crew so far, but in order to gain the treasure before the navy he will have to choose between wealth and ale, and his love interest inside the Royal Navy’s most secure prison – her father’s keep! Donna left the set of "Snow white and the seven positions" as quickly as she could. As luck would have it, on the street outside she was approached by a talent scout again, but fortunately this turned out to be a legitimate. Space Wars was Donna's first film (at least the first that wasn't shot on some creeps' mobile phone) and the 21 year old actress looks set to go far. She enjoys Pina Colada parties for one, animal husbandry and playing golf on the floors of drained swimming pools.

I probably shouldn't have picked a costume that was so ordinary because there's not much to choose between the everyday shot and the movie shot. But the movie was the first thing I thought of and something more exotic just wouldn't have fit. So, here is Zara Ellington. She was born in-game in Sunset Valley and at 18 moved to Starlit Shores with her twin sister to pursue an acting career. At the young age of 19, Zara landed her biggest role yet - the lead role of Shadowstar in the brand new, upcoming movie, Hero Returns.

Hero Returns is set in a huge city full of hunger, crime and death. It is about a young girl who, at 18, discovers she has superpowers. As she goes about mastering these superpowers, she learns that the current mess of the city is infact a government secrect plan. A plan to wipe them out. She now knows how she can use her powers.
But, after all of the media and the leaders manipulating and brainwashing the public into thinking she is the cause of the problem, can she come back and take them down single handedly? Will she help to gain the public trust? Or will vengence take over causing her to wipe out the city, and the government, in one blow?

25 year old Chris Taylor is an actor, born in Newcastle, England. Chris got into acting when his talent was spotted at school plays, when Chris was 16 he went to Hollywood to become an actor. Chris has since starred in 12 major films.

In his next acting role, Chris will be playing 30 year old John Harper in the upcoming film 'space wars', set in 2030 John gets conscripted into the World army to fight against an alien invasion of the Earth. John is stationed at the fictional town called 'Appaloosa Plains'. John and his freinds soon end up fighting in the middle of a guerilla war after conventianal means fail. This is Aphrodite Oaklings. Growing up, she would always follow her mother around to photo-shoots - by the time she turned a young adult, she already knew what she wanted to be. A star. She wanted to bask in the limelight - at times, she acted nothing less than a diva. Fortunately, however, she had the power to back up her claims - after all, she was a young and charismatic natural born performer. She is 25 years old.




When her manager came to her with the script for Fantasy World, she knew this was the role for her. She could remember watching the first version of this movie as a young girl. She had fallen in love with one of the supporting characters, a fairy named Meadow. Meadow was a character full of spunk and extremely eccentric. Halfway through the movie, she interacts with the main characters and becomes allies with them against the Evils. At the end of the movie, she sacrifices herself for her allies.

Cailin Maher, age twenty, is of Irish descent and was born into a very close-knit family. Cailin grew up in rural Ireland and knew how to plant, grow, and sow vegetables before she was eight. When she entered secondary school, Cailin took an interest to the school’s stage in the auditorium. Instantly, she became immersed in the hobby of acting and auditioned for several school shows. Soon, she was making her way to small town stardom with all her lead roles. When it was her last year at secondary school, before college, Cailin was greeted with a plethora of talent agents at her very last performance. Smitten with her acting skill and her physical design, the talent agents booked her to be in various movies once she graduated.

Fantasy World

Cailin Maher plays Breanna O’Hare, a young girl who mistakes an ancient book of hymns for her book report book. Once home, Breanna opens the book and is instantly transported to a fantasy world where survival is of the fittest. Flaenia Prentus was just your average tavern wench. She served mead and told stories to the local miners who came to quench their thirsts. Until, one day, a wandering bard came to her tavern and listened to her tales. He sat, in awe, of the yarns she spun with the tavern hanging on her every word. He knew that he must appropriate her gift for his own for no other way would he win the favor of the king. A festival was drawing near and all bards were welcome to weave their tales and have a bestowal of gold coins gifted to them. Antus Avidius had no chance to win on his own. At dawn's kiss, he stole Flaenia from her quarters and set off for Senarel, capital city of his kingdom. This is Flaenia's story; a tale of deception, thievery, and love. This is A Bard's Tale.

I was just wondering that since we're allowed a collage for the regular mugshot if we're allowed to use one as an expressive facial in the collage? Such as one neutral frontal and one a bit more expressive?
