Welcome- Start HERE- Mentoring4Builders

This is a group of experienced builders willing to provide help with Sims (2, 3, or 4) lot creation. If you are new to building, or if you are trying a new technique, we have seasoned builders willing and able to help. Whether you want ideas, instructions or suggestions, or a guide to the upload process at MTS, you have come to the right place. If you would like to join, please click on the group name- Mentoring for Builders- and then click the JOIN button. You are most welcome here.

Here is our team. Together we have over 285 lots available for download on MTS.

attuned builds in TS3. She is the organizer of the group and takes a pretty screenshot. She has a niche in building "base game".
Crowkeeper builds in TS3. Her creations are magical, mystical fantasies, that transport you to another realm.
cutsocks builds in TS3. He has mad roofing skills, and is a genius in CFE. He builds mainly historic/ re-creations.
Ferguson Avenue builds in TS3. He is a wizard with roofing and CFE. He adores vintage architecture.
joandsarah77 builds in TS2. She is a master of MOO (move objects on) and design. She builds mainly community lots.
Johnny_Bravo builds in TS3. He is a CFE superstar. His creations run the gamut from cutting edge modern to historical.
Norn builds in TS3. She has a varied and exquisite portfolio, mostly on Blackys Sims Zoo.
SimmyRN builds in TS3. She tries to be a "problems solver". Her building style is varied but tends toward realistic, urban modern.
Volvenom builds in TS3 and TS4. She is a virtuoso at CFE, and has an utterly fantastic eye for landscaping and interior design.

Process
1. Post a comment on this thread, with an introduction.
2. Start your own thread. Tell us what you would like help with, what game you play, what style you would like to build, and anything else that can help us help you. Post screenshots if you have them. We would especially like to see WIPs, past successes and past fails.
3. Please put the game you play as the first word in the thread title: TS2/ TS3/ or TS4.

attuned 27th Dec 2016 7:15 AM

Welcome
I am attuned and I am the organizer of the group. I am a less experienced builder than the rest of the group, but I think I take a pretty good screenshot. I can help with decorating and landscaping. I can also help guide you through the upload process, especially taking screenshots. Please leave a comment here and then start your own thread for your project. Thanks!

Johnny_Bravo 1st Jan 2017 4:20 AM

I'll follow up then.
I'm Johnny_bravo and got invited to help out with a few other talented builders. (We still learn from each other!)
Building in the sims can be a pain in the ass, especially when using CFE, I can help you out with almost any CFE problem and give you hints tips about it. I'm basicly available for anything else, too.

Norn 2nd Jan 2017 10:39 AM

*waves* My name is Norn, lovely to meet you all! I'm building in TS3 only, probably not with such a mad skill (yet) as the other members of this group but with lots of enthusiasm. A secret hobby of mine are apartment buildings. I'm playing around with different styles and love exploring new ones. My biggest love is caw, so even if not the main focus of this group I will be happy to help you with anything related to world building.

joandsarah77 3rd Jan 2017 5:39 AM

I joined before but I joined again and it took me back to the other thread? *Is a little confused*

G'day, I am Jo from Australia. I build in Sims 2 only, mainly cc free lots that fill a niche rather than houses, although I do sometimes build houses. You can see my builds on my page here:http://www.modthesims.info/member.php?u=1433933 I enjoy landscaping and decorating and most of my builds are straight forward without much CFE, although I can use it if I have to, but I am certainly no master of it. I like combining and decorating with Maxis objects and move objects which you can see in many of my buildings on this site. I would say helping with room sizes, floor plans and decorating inside or out are my strengths but I can also give some help with CFE and roofing.

Jaguwar 4th Jan 2017 6:20 AM

Hey guys, I'm Jag, currently diving back into the Sims after a near-two year hiatus. For a variety of reasons I no longer have TS3, and although I'd scoffed at TS4, I couldn't resist the Origin's Holiday sale (going on until the 12th, in case you didn't know.
Anyway, I'm jumping into TS4 and having mixed feelings about it. I'll try not to bitch and moan too much about it here, except to complain about the awful camera. Yes, I'm aware of the TS3 mode. Nope, still not as good as CMoMoney's mod could make it, and that's the problem. Yep, found Buckley's mod (thank you Buckley!) who also knows this is a "best you can do" situation.
Boo.
/end gripe

Anyway, it IS nice to be here again while I can be. I look forward to seeing how this goes...

Volvenom 4th Jan 2017 11:56 AM

Hallo I'm Volve, Volvenom or Tulla Rask from Norway.

I don't know how to describe my skills, they are quite various, but still I try to do it my way. I have been building and decorating houses in Sims since Sims2 first came out. In Sims 2 and 3 I used CFE as well. These days I only build in 3 and 4 though. I left 2 when 3 first came out and never regretted that.

Today I probably consider myself skilled in CAW as well. I often start using cfe in Sims 3 when I have been building a bit in 4. After all the technical skills required in Sims4 isn't quite up to scratch. I just need the challenge from time to time.

My style is Minimalist, even if I build a Tudor Mansion. My preferred style though is usually Scandinavian Minimalisme/Funkis often with a Fusion twist. I just like to challenge myself and do some different things from time to time.

Then lovely attuned said I was skilled in landscaping? ... ok, perhaps I am. It's good skills to have in CAW at least.

I'm on mts when I'm on my stationary, but also sometimes on my phone. I'm looking forward to helping out.

Crowkeeper 4th Jan 2017 12:42 PM

Hi there
I am Crowkeeper a dedicated sims 3 builder and I would be more then happy to help you with building your dreamhouse. I love building in various styles such as Steampunk, Mermaidian, Elven or anything that is at least a little bit magical

If you have similiar tastes but you are not sure how to turn your concepts into reality dont hesitate to contact me

AGuyCalledPi 4th Jan 2017 12:45 PM

Hi, I'm Pi.

I'm a TS3 guy and I like to build a thing or two. Unfortunately it always ends up sucking, and it shouldn't, so that's why I'm here.

You know building can suck on so many levels. Make a thread and show us some pictures

KittyCatInDaWoods 4th Jan 2017 11:02 PM

Hi, I am Cat!

To be honest, I've never really paid much attention to the houses I put my sims in. In Sims 2 I used ready made houses, and usually made a horrible looking 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc floors for them, stuffed full of everything I could find and played, or simply made 5 story rectangular I did the same with Sims 3 for a very long time.. and then I grow up in mind, I guess.
I've tried to build something, but really not enough to know what am I even doing.
Now, I have a big project, which will probably take me a lot of time to learn, but one I would really like to accomplish. I want to make a castle, but like not too medieval. More on the modern side, but not too much, if that makes sense. :D
The thing is, I don't know where to start. No, that's not true, I did start - I took 64x64 lot, I made steps in the terrain leading up to where the entrance will be and... that's it. :/ I have no idea what I want it to look like, I just know that I like towers - those have to be there.
That's why I am here.

attuned 5th Jan 2017 7:20 AM

Welcome to all the new members of Mentoring for Builders.

Since this is a new venture, we are still working on the process. Please start your own personal thread, after posting in this, our main thread. Tell us what you would like help with, what game you play, what style you would like to build, and anything else that can help us help you. Post screenshots if you have them, as a picture is worth a thousand words. We would especially like to see WIPs, past successes and past oops. Thanks!

Johnny_Bravo 5th Jan 2017 1:30 PM

Welcome ya'll

I agree with attuned about posting WIPs, successes and fails so we can work together and improve your favorite style, or find a new one.

I'm also curious what will happen in the near future. If it stays a small group with people joining every now and then and or if this will grow into something big

BabiHunni 5th Jan 2017 5:13 PM

I really have a great idea for city living (ts4)...I really want to make the world empty to build it into Chicago...but idk where to start. If I knew where to start I know I can get it done, but I also want to knock out those buildings that are sitting by the art gallery ingame. I've been trying sooooo hard to figure this out and I can't figure it out....can anyone please help me? I truly want to make it something for people to build their city the way they want it without having only 5 lots to build and the rest are locked my penthouses/apartments...Please help lol

Get ts3 instead. I don't think you can do a thing in ts4 or in San Myshuno. As far as I know the "world" in ts4 is just 2D screens. There isn't any world builder available either. I see some has made some screens for download, but you probably need to ask modders or meshers to find out what can be done. I don't think there is much building involved.

attuned 6th Jan 2017 5:19 AM

@BabiHunni Please start your own thread and we will see what we can do. As Volvenom states, TS4 is much more limited in what can be done. The world can't be expanded, but perhaps there are some other tricks that, with a little imagination, can get you closer to what you want.

CircusWolf 6th Jan 2017 5:37 PM

hey!

I'm CircusWolf. I've been building for a long while, just never get my lazy arse to upload anything. I'm good with TS3, Doing better with TS4, and I'm making a resolution to actually getting off my butt and getting stuff uploaded. I even have an empty world or three to play in!.

bellakenobi 7th Jan 2017 4:36 PM

Hi, I'm Bella

I recently came back to TS3 (there's a long story about my HDD dying and stuff). I have few lots available for download here at MTS, but I know I *need* to improve my building skills (especially about CFE and the outdoors).

At the moment I don't have any project, as soon as I have one I'll post it here ^^

attuned 8th Jan 2017 5:49 AM

Welcome all! With 30 members, we are off to a great start!

meginmd 8th Jan 2017 6:08 PM

*timidly waves* H, I'm Megan. I'm here because, quite frankly, I SUCK at building. Everything I Build ends up being too big or boxy or otherwise frustrating. I'm here to get help. I play 100% the Sims 2

SimmyRN 8th Jan 2017 10:34 PM

Hi, I'm SimmyRN. I've been playing Sims since the first incarnation. SimCity (the original and latest versions), SimTower, etc. before that. I work in TS3, mostly with building and in CAW. (Have TS4 but don't really do much with it.) My style is "realistic", I guess, tending toward modern. I like to work from reference materials and floor plans. I especially like tiny builds, city type buildings and city/suburban worlds. Or, "themed" worlds. I have the perfectionist trait so try to have all of my builds as error, routing problems, lag free as possible. I also enjoy "fixing" lot / world problems that I encounter. I have some background in photography and writing so enjoy those aspects of the game, too. If I can help with anything, please let me know.

GothicGorilla 9th Jan 2017 5:01 PM

Heyo! I'm Sarah, I do post every now and then, but I tend to lurk more.

At the moment I have all 4 games (even though 1 isn't working at this time), I'm trying to figure out how to make nice buildings. So far I've been satisfied with the houses I've made, but I'm hoping to finally be able to post some lots I feel good about.

Looking forward to this group! I miss the open/friendly/helpful atmosphere I had in an irl writers group. Having someone else look over something and actually know what it is is soooo helpful!

clw8 10th Jan 2017 12:37 AM

Hi, I'm Cecillia.
I joined because I have enjoyed the building aspect of Sims ever since I started playing TS1 in about 2004. I am trying to get back into the game and uploading things here again. I build in TS4 now so potentially will post something soon related to that; otherwise will try to help out with others on that game.

I have ts3...anyways, I seen where someone was able to empty newcrest completely and the promenade or something close, i just don't know what they did and I tried to reach out to them, but no answer, I'll start a new thread tho

attuned 11th Jan 2017 4:47 AM

We have two members with projects currently in testing on the Creator Feedback Forums (CFF).

If you play TS2 and want to help whoward69 test a new mod, head over to Create>Creator Feedback Forum> Sims 2: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=588078 -UPLOADED- He has another one: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=588284

If you play TS3 and would like to help SimmyRN test a new world, over to Create>Creator Feedback Forum> Sims 3: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=588036

scoopy_loopy 11th Jan 2017 11:08 PM

Hi, I'm scoopy_loopy / Yosh, I build in TS3. (I bought TS4, but, I just missed the freedoms of TS3 building). I'm from Australia and I've been simming since I was introduced to SimCity 2000, SimTower and The Sims all at once as a kid. I like to build things that are old, cluttered, and make my computer slow down when I try to load them up! Anything with a hint of decaying decadence gets an A++ from me.

I'd like to join this group so that I might get some tips for my future projects, as well as occasionally chime in with suggestions for others. As I already enjoy checking in on "creator feedback" on the daily, this is par for the course / crack for me.

Silent Wolf 101 12th Jan 2017 3:45 AM

Hey there! I'm SilentWolf (not so much a fan of my real name, so it'll be a secret). Many people call me Silent or Wolfy.

I am used to sims 3, owning all the sims 3 content except for Fast Lane Stuff and Sweet Treats, but I just got sims 4 for Christmas and might eventually explore that realm. I'm not afraid of mods or cc at all. I think I'm a decent builder in sims 3... At least, until I see what other people are capable of creating. I like the gothic or victorian style of house, with some things that I think my sims need/deserve after what I put them through in my simlit stories... XD I really hope to get some suggestions and/or tips to help improve my own building style so I'm not relying on the community for houses for my sims to live in.

Volvenom 12th Jan 2017 2:28 PM

Heihei

Scoopy your creations I know from before, like the Highclere Castle job. That must have taken lots of planning. I just want to decorate lavishly in CC from all over the place.

Silent Wolf: I'm looking forward to seeing your creations

keef1973 13th Jan 2017 1:34 PM

Hi, i'm keef1973, I have built houses for Sims 2 and Sims 3 here on MTS. I mostly build beach houses. I often use CFE when building. I would like to join this group to further my education.

RockStarDrunk 16th Jan 2017 11:15 PM

*spends 15 minutes agonizing over an introduction*

My social awkwardness continues to surprise me.

Hi, I'm RockStar (currently sober). I own Sims 2 and 3, occasionally dabbling in 4 when I feel adventurous. Primarily I'm a builder; I can spend hours on end just taking a sledgehammer to Maxis lots. Destroying stuff can be really relaxing, you know? I currently own about 7 Lowe's floor plan books with a dozen accounts on different floor plan websites. I love realistic homes and am a sucker for row houses. (Did you see that beautiful creation in the Genderflipped Hood that has Viper Canyon as its base? Omigaaaawd.) I'm currently teaching myself how to use tablet floor plan/CAD apps so I can make remodeling Maxis homes for my uberhood a little faster/easier as I have been using graphing paper. I need to save the trees! D:

I joined the group because my biggest weaknesses are interior design and landscaping. I'm addicted to using neutral colors like beige walls and dark wood floors, that short white brick fence around the daisies and shrubs. I binge watch HGTV, have several Pinterest boards for inspiration, yet none of that makes it into a build.

Here's hoping that changes this year!

Volvenom 17th Jan 2017 12:57 AM

Welcome keef and rockstar. I'm looking forward to seeing more from you

suziblue 20th Jan 2017 4:31 AM

Hi, I'm suziblue, but you may call me Suzi or Suz. I have played Sims games since The Sims (1). However, I just can't get into The Sims 4, but I may try it again in the future, so Sims 3 is currently my game of choice. I love to build, but feel my skills can be improved, especially CFE, stairs with landings, and other "tricks". I love to create in dystopian, post-apocalyptic, urban decay, abandoned spaces, etc. type styles. I also really enjoy creating on very small lots.

toadflax 20th Jan 2017 7:39 AM

Hello, I am Toadflax, and have been playing since S1, then S2, heavily modded w cc, and made my own neighborhoods using SC4, but I was usually dissatisfied with my own lots and found myself always downloading someone else's. Finally bought S3, and multiple EPs, but just could never get into it - the limitations of my computer led to ENDLESS intolerable fussing, so went back to S2 until S4 came out. Until I an afford a new computer I am using S4 (tons of cc), and at come point I will optimize a laptop to only run 2. I really struggle with the most basic things, so I will start a thread and share my struggles with you! My style is all over the place, mostly determined by whatever is blowing my dress up at the moment.

joandsarah77 20th Jan 2017 7:55 AM

Welcome suziblue and toadflax, I would love a few more TS2 buildings to look at but can certainly help a bit with 4.

lordtyger9 21st Jan 2017 5:32 AM

Hi I am called lordtyger9, name is taken from Philip Jose Farmer's novel Lord Tyger, if anyone is curious. {note the writer's middle name has an acute accent mark on the "e", but it doesn't come through when I try to type it, argh}

I decided to join this group as I would like to know a bit more about building. I started with Sim City and Sims 1, at this point I only play Sims 2, I do have Sims 3 but I no longer play it as I got tired of the buggy nature of the game and frequent problems when trying to save. I have no plans on buying Sims 4 after my experience with Sims 3.

I play on my Mac with The Sims 2: Super Collection, so I don't have any of the stuff in FT, AL or M&G and I can't run Any Game Starter or other PC stuff.

I build Community Lots, Houses, and Beach Houses. I also like to remodel some of the existing houses in the game. I don't know what CFE means so I don't know if I use it or not.

I am not sure if I am going to want to upload any of my projects, though I suppose I might if there is someone that thinks one of my projects is particularly good or something. I just build for my own enjoyment and I have number of CC items that I usually include.

I don't know what style I build in exactly, most likely some sort of modern.
I want to learn a bit and share some ideas and I hope to accomplish that.

attuned 23rd Jan 2017 6:41 AM

Welcome all!

Don't forget two of our members need help testing. See post #26, upthread.

Johnny_Bravo 23rd Jan 2017 3:59 PM

@lordtyger9
CFE is the short form for ConstrainFloorElevation. A cheat for builders.
Here is a tutorial displaying 2 possabilities..
Tutorial for thicker roofs (Can also be applied as faux high ceilings)
Tutorial for -horizontally- curved walls (Same method can be used to create slanted walls)

and more

CaliBrat 23rd Jan 2017 7:55 PM

Hiya, I'm Cali a middle-aged child who's never gonna grow up. :D

I am solely a T2er, well maybe with a T1 thrown in once a blue moon. I like buildin more playability, however it still has to look ... err balanced? I have to like the overall look of it as I'm buildin or I'll never finish as I'll stop and go in a different direction. I have the umm attention span of a flea. I might spend days/ weeks interested in playin the game then attention gets switched to buildin, recolorin, or even to watchin TV, readin, or playin a game on my phone/ tab.

So, anyway for now it's buildin time. I had a question for which I was gonna ask in stupid questions and seein as it had to do with buildin I thought this might of been a the better place to ask.

Velouriah 24th Jan 2017 7:46 AM

I would like to note that it would be extremely helpful if people would mention the Sims version of their build in the topic...

attuned 26th Jan 2017 8:05 AM

Thanks Velouriah and Johhny Bravo. I have added this to the first post.

attuned 8th Feb 2017 7:49 AM

I want to celebrate the MTS downloads from members of Mentoring4Builders- Congratulations!
(If I missed your upload, please post on the thread or PM me.)

yavannatw 11th Feb 2017 10:57 PM

Hi there, I joined a while back but didn't introduce myself. I live in Australia and play only Sims 2. I'm a bit lazy when it comes to building as its so time-consuming but have created some reasonable builds. For my medieval hood I've created a castle, barracks and monastery. The subhood of Braavos has elves who don't yet have anywhere to live. I love Rivendell on this site but it's too big and I think it requires BV which I don't have. As soon as I start attempting a build I'll post something.

attuned 13th Feb 2017 5:08 AM

Hi krudyard and welcome!

themysteriouscorn 13th Feb 2017 7:00 AM

Oh no! I just realized I haven't introduced myself! ahhh I'm a bit of a ditz. Anyway, I'm themysteriouscorn, but you may call me Sydney I sort of have my own style that doesn't really have a name but I try to build in a whole bunch of styles, and sometimes I just need help I'm a total newbie with uploading, and I haven't been dedicated to building for long (my old houses consist of color exploded boxes with roofs ) My current projects are a gothic mansion and a country cottage. Ive been really fascinated with bridges lately so both of those builds have one. I love to see everyone else's creations though I don't make suggestions often. It's really neat to see what everyone can build Oh, and I play TS3 because of the precise color customization that I love so much

joandsarah77 27th Feb 2017 6:47 AM

Can everyone say when posting for help, saying in the title what game it is for. TS2, TS3 or TS4.

Butterbot 20th Mar 2017 12:39 AM

Hi, habitual lurker here. I'm currently customizing Sunset Valley and building a house for a new savegame. There are a couple of issues on which I'd appreciate your input--will be posting them next.

attuned 30th Apr 2017 6:36 AM

Welcome to our new members, Butterbot, orose, Rguerra and OnayaW!!!

Goldenbtrfly 28th Jun 2017 12:28 AM

Hi-hi! I'm nervous and excited to have a place to get some help and hopefully inspiration on my future (and current) builds. That said - I am a beginner builder whom just started seriously building in joandsarah77's current contest. I currently only am building for TS2, even though I have the other games, as it is the one I play most. I prefer to build CC free with all expansions, using cheats (which I am just now getting used to) except CFE. I just can't seem to wrap my head around CFE. I think my strength is in color coordination?

Edit:
Please feel free to call me Golden, GB, Gold, Goldie... I don't mind. Also, I'm not sure about starting my own thread, so can someone clarify? Do I just title it with my name? There are a couple things I'd like help on.

Johnny_Bravo 28th Jun 2017 3:17 PM

@Goldenbtrfly First off, welcome to the group
If you want to post your own thread just name it something like 'TS2- roofing problems' for example, so we know which game it is and what you need help with. We can see who posted what anyway

attuned 29th Jun 2017 5:01 AM

Hi Goldenbtrfly and welcome.

We are pretty informal here, so as Johnny said, feel free to name your thread anything you wish, but please make the first "word" TS2. That way it is easier for people to identify which game you build in.

Congrats on your first three downloads for MTS! I have been following and greatly enjoying the Community Spirit Contest.

Ah, wow! Thank you, that really made me smile. It's such a nice feeling to be able to give something back after being a content leech for years, haha. I'm just happy someone likes them enough to take them! I appreciate the welcome. I will be sure to post a proper thread to get help from the league of masters here as soon as I suss out the inspirational problems with my last lot on that contest. Thanks again.

(I typed this once and the site ate it! *shakes fist*)

GreenPhoenix 24th Jul 2017 8:07 PM

Hello everyone

I'm GreenPhoenix, and I'm a TS3 world/lots/sims builder and story-writer (in German tho). attuned is currently testing my latest world, and has been kind enough to point out this group to me. MTS is still pretty new for me. Although I have been a member for some years, I have never taken a look around in smth else than the download section.
Now my buiIding skills have evolved to a point, where I feel comfortable enough to share my work, so others can have fun with it too.
I'm happy to get feedback, and give some back if i can.

Johnny_Bravo 24th Jul 2017 10:31 PM

Can't wait to get all nit-picky on your homes. Nah Jk, Wilkommen GreenPhoenix

attuned 25th Jul 2017 6:25 AM

Welcome GreenPhoenix
You may want to start a thread here with the link to your world thread in Creator feedback. You could move it here, but you can only have it in one place, and it is all settled and tucked in over at CFF.

If you are have questions or want feedback about a specific lot, or if you have world building questions, feel free to add that to the thread you start here.

Howdie all
I don't know how I haven't found this group before... I LOVE to build [for TS2]. That's how I "play" the game - I build. LOL!
You can find my uploaded lots here.

In RL right now we are moving into our new house in just a few days - actually, after Hurricane Irma is done and gone. (We're in central Florida.) We were set to 'close' on Monday... we may have to wait for re-inspections after the storm *sigh* Anywho... after we move I'm planning on being more active in the TS2 community again. So, joining here is my first step - give me a few weeks to get settled, and I'll be back!

attuned 10th Sep 2017 11:37 PM

Hi @CatherineTCJD
Welcome to Mentoring4Builders! I am a big fan of your creations. Be safe in the storm.

attuned 8th Dec 2017 5:10 AM

Welcome!!
@Elynda
@Pebblerocker
@Arenalia

Elynda 8th Dec 2017 10:12 PM

What? Where? Who? Oh yes, it's me, and I'm here! I'm Elynda (retired ballet dancer, failed author, part-time fairy queen etc, etc). And when I'm not telling increasingly complexed and incomprehensible sims stories I do build stuff. If it's for storytelling I'll use whatever cc I can find that will help set the scene and make it interesting. But I have one or two projects in hand which I'd like eventually to upload to MTS and those will be strictly base game. To that purpose I am using my trusty old PC, which only has the base game installed - that way I can be sure it really is base game.

Norn 9th Dec 2017 10:14 AM

Sounds lovely, Elynda, and welcome to the group! Looking forward to seeing some more of your projects

CatherineTCJD 9th Dec 2017 5:10 PM

Welcome Elynda
Basegame is super-tricky to build in (I think) - is there really still a market for BG only builds?
Good luck to ya

Elynda 9th Dec 2017 9:46 PM

Hmm, maybe you're right. It was just that I thought I'd make life easy for myself for my first upload. But trying work on one of my houses today I began to think that perhaps I'd limited my options too much. Maybe re-think is in order here.

CatherineTCJD 10th Dec 2017 1:34 AM

When you upload items here, you only have to "declare" (give credit and a link) to custom created items.
If an item came with a game pack or the UC - so long as you have all the right EP/SP/UC boxes ticked - the upload wizard swooshes right by it
Don't make things harder for yourself than is necessary! LOL!

attuned 10th Dec 2017 5:18 AM

Elynda if you are speaking of TS2, I completely agree with CatherineTCJD, no reason to restrict yourself to base game. If you are referring to TS3, base game builds are still very popular, thanks, I think, to the wonders of CASt. I have 10 lots uploaded at MTS, 8 are base game. I don't think building base game only is easier, however. If anything, I think it is more of a challenge. Downloaders for TS3 prefer builds that don't use SPs and use a minimal amount of cc. The best thing about base game builds are that anyone can download them. Good luck and we are here when you need us.

Johnny_Bravo 14th Dec 2017 12:26 AM

There still is a lot of demand for BG houses indeed, kinda amazing after almost a decade.

aisquared 19th Jan 2018 6:50 PM

*taps mic* Um, hello. I'm aisquared, or ai for short. I build mostly for TS3 and upload some here occasionally. I'm looking forward to learning with you guys, and hopefully I could lend a helping hand in this group someday (so sorry I just decided joining now. I think I'm a latecomer..)

attuned 20th Jan 2018 7:24 AM

Hi ai and welcome!

orose 23rd Jan 2018 7:16 PM

Hey there, I'm orose, which is a shortened form of the sn I've had for the last... geez, 14 years or so? I answer to that and Ren, along with about fifteen thousand other nicknames so I'm not too fussy about what I get called I love TS3, and while I detour into TS4 sometimes (after completely ignoring its existence for about 3 years, lol) it's still my favorite. I'm looking forward to getting better at building because I still find myself designing oddly squarish homes 90% of the time, lol, though I do love designing the interiors afterwards, haha.

tysika 23rd Jan 2018 11:06 PM

Hi guys I'm Sika. My username is such a faceroll but whatever. Basically, I am beginner when it comes to building. I never really did build much, most of my houses are from gameplay that started out as a square and grew as more funding was acquired. I exclusively play TS3 now, so I'm interested in bettering my building in TS3. I'd like to get better in furniture placement, and roofing mostly... because I suck at those. I line stuff up against walls and there's always this big wide space in the center I don't know what to do with.

Norn 23rd Jan 2018 11:10 PM

Welcome aisquared, orose and tysika! Happy to have you here and looking forward to see your builds! I'm very excited to see more TS3 builders here

tunafishfish 24th Jan 2018 10:01 PM

I'm Tunafishfish, you can call me Tuna. I hale from the US, near DC and play TS3 exclusively, but used to play sim city as a kid. I'm currently playing a Nothing is Free challenge which requires me to build a town from scratch. I'm using a mixture of rabbit holes from the community objects bin, shell buildings/rabbit hole rugs, houses downloaded from here, and houses I'm building. I shoot for realism, which requires a certain amount of boxiness...

attuned 26th Jan 2018 6:18 AM

Hi Tuna- welcome and feel free to jump right in!

Crashley1784 5th Apr 2018 6:26 PM

Hi there! I'm excited to have found this group (don't know why it took me so long!)! I build in TS3 exclusively and tend toward current upscale suburban style. I'm also working on building a world, so all of my lot builds right now are for that. I really want to get better / more imaginative at building community lots!

Johnny_Bravo 6th Apr 2018 1:57 AM

Welcome @Crashley1784
If you are looking for feedback and/or help, just make a thread here I'm looking forward to your builds and world!

attuned 6th Apr 2018 4:50 AM

Hi Crashley- I believe I have responded to some of your questions in the Create forums. We have several experienced world creators in the group, so you are in the right place.
When you start a thread, be sure to start the title with TS3 or Sims 3. Thanks and welcome!

darkflwrs 30th May 2018 7:55 PM

Hey guys! My name is Kristi aka darkflwrs. I've been playing the Sims 3 for near a decade. I love building and after discovering CAW that's almost exclusively what I do. I love building from blue prints or Zillow and the like. I'm currently working on a world based on New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Been working on it for 6 years and am getting close to being able to upload. I will post it on here to see if you guys can help out as I'm struggling with a few build issues and screenshots. Thanks for the invite to this group @attuned .

attuned 31st May 2018 5:49 AM

Hi darkflwrs- welcome! Please feel free to start a thread on any project you are working on.
We are currently working on a group project, a small pet- friendly world created by SimmyRN, called Petlandia.
Here is the link: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=606803

We can use a few more lots for Petlandia, if you would like a distraction from New Orleans.

Johnny_Bravo 31st May 2018 3:06 PM

@darkflwrs welcome welcome, I've seen your NOLA project and it's coming along nicely

Tricks and tips?
What's the idea behind that one, because we have tutorials, and tips and tricks are usually posted when giving advice :p

fascisthater 4th Dec 2018 11:31 PM

Hello I am fascisthater. I received an invite from attuned. I build lots in sims 3 only as most of my creations will be used in the world I'm trying to create. My previous attempts at CAW often failed from old computer crashing during attempts. The lots I make for upload here at MTS will be base game or expansions only as I have a ton of custom content and would not want to mess up anybodys game or violate any terms of service.

SimmyRN 5th Dec 2018 3:42 AM

Welcome, fascisthater! I always appreciate builders who don't use CC. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Hi @fascisthater welcome! Feel free to start a thread (put TS3 in the title) for any WIPs you would like to share or get feedback on. Congratulations on your first two uploads to MTS!
Also, we are looking for builders to help with the following project: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=620173

@Johnny_Bravo well some of us could use a trick or two, and we don't even know it. We are hoping to build on this thread, and maybe find a way to keep it from being buried: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=588405

tease from Crowkeeper:
Decorating tip using ITF shelf and showtime props. You can "remove" lights by turning their color to black.

Kylaaab 12th Mar 2019 9:13 AM

Hey, I'm Kylaaab and I build for TS3. I try to build in multiple styles, but I always find myself favoring modern. I am strictly anti-CC with my builds, and I'm rarely willing to negotiate that. I'm mainly here to find out what I can improve on.

SimmyRN 13th Mar 2019 4:41 AM

Welcome Kylaaab! Feel feel to post a project and we’ll try to help.

Also, here's another tip. If you don't want to download CC but you want a rangehood in your game..

color two wallclocks from supernatural to metal (they're found in the electrontics section), alt them all the way up that wall, and add an ITF shelf with the same metal color at the bottom of the clocks. moveobjects on those two clocks facing eachother and put the shelf underneath and voila!

You've got a non custom content rangehood. The stove underneath can still be used too. It's fully accessible.

Victor_tor 27th Mar 2019 12:11 PM

Hi all. I just entered at this group in search for help and feedback.
I am not experienced builder at Sims 4. I've started building process since Sims 2 and uploaded my creations on russian site. I moved to SIms 3 building and tried some meshing. Currently I am trying to build at Sims 4 and I can say it's not much easier then build in Sims 3. Most creations on Sims 2 and Sims 3 now deleted by russian site stuff, but you can see some ones at my creator's page here at MTS and in my blogger with link in subscription.

Crowkeeper 27th Mar 2019 12:48 PM

What a great idea for modern interiors @Kylaaab. Thank you very much for sharing I hope you will contribute some more once the "tips and tricks" thread opens.

And welcome to the group @Victor_tor - I have been watching your progress on the "Farm starter houses" and really like the result. Your "The Ruins" lot is awesome I am very happy you decided to join the group and hope to see new creations soon.

I think this thread should be pinned, stickered or whatever it's called around here, if possible.

@ScaryRob Thank you for your suggestion. The social group forum is shared by all of the social groups, so unless a thread pertains to all social groups, I don't think it can be stickied here.

Also, can you please remove the BUMP gif? Thanks.

Can you do me a favor and not "@ mention" me when I'm obviously subscribed to the thread and will see your reply? All you're doing is making me go to my User Control Panel and remove the stupid notice, which is a PITA.
Also, why should I remove the gif? I'm not aware of it breaking any rules and I don't think you're a moderator.

Tashiketh 2nd Oct 2019 8:04 AM

@ScaryRob people actually can't tell if you are or are not subscribed to the thread, and not everybody uses the control panel to view thread subscriptions (again, something it's impossible to find out). So going off on somebody for mentioning you is, well, kind of being an asshat. As is posting a meme / bump gif which adds nothing whatsoever to the thread, doesn't get any points across and is generally just obnoxious.

Thank you for the invitation

fascisthater 5th Oct 2019 4:51 PM

@Justpetro- You seem to have a lot of nice downloads for Sims 2. I look forward to seeing further creations.

Victor_tor 6th Oct 2019 10:10 AM

Hello, Justpetro. Nice to see you here. I looked through your builds. They are having nice outside.

attuned 7th Oct 2019 4:51 AM

Welcome @Justpetro -Lovely to see you here! I am a big fan

dragonflew03 31st Dec 2019 11:38 AM

Hey Everyone!

TS3 & CAW

Working on a World (2 YRS and counting) which has changed more times than I care to count. Joining the thread to learn more about what other builders and creators are doing and maybe pick up some useful guides to help my CAW world develop. New member to MTS, so no uploads as yet to share but stay tuned (still gotta figure out the perfect screenshot...)

Norn 31st Dec 2019 11:42 AM

Hi and welcome, @dragonflew03! If you need help with CAW there is a link in my signature to a guide I wrote. Everchanging worlds? I guess there is no other way to do it!

Johnny_Bravo 31st Dec 2019 1:31 PM

Double welcome, @dragonflew03
There's nothing bad about an everchanging world. Give it time and dedication, and you'll find the progress you want
