Yay, I've been waiting for this for some time now =) I was also hoping beach sand neighborhood terrain would be included so I could make my own little islands, but it wasn't :\ instead yucky concrete and dirt were added >.>

What is the Terrain cheat?
I guess I could go look it up but it is so much easier to ask :P

Yea, way to go lindaetterlee. I was going to do this today for those who wanted it, but you saved me the trouble heh. And yeh, I think it has to do with the lighting and programming of why we get that cream color in the hood view, just as with the roofs, it turns grayish and won't fully turn white.
Nonetheless, great job!

Thank you hrussio. Loved the desert recolor. I am thinking about modding the desert to a more beach friendly terrain.
Terrain cheat is: TerrainType desert/temperate/dirt/concrete

This Toggles between terrain types

Will the terrain paint work on residential lots as well?

Thanks.. I tried the other file and it looked great, but I would rather just replace my dirt terrain that I never use... so thanks so much.

Linda you're a genius! This is what Maxis should have had in EP2 instead of Dirt! What were they thinking?!?! This mod will get alot of play, having replaced a totally useless terrain with one high in demand, and not sacrificing the other 3 terrains to do it.

Thanks. Not that I'm a big fan of snow, but simulated snow is allright.
The dirt terrain is pretty useless, isn't it. What were they thinking?
Any way, good job.

Snow not showing up
Thank you for your effort. I'm confused. The desert snow shows up nicely in my game, but not the dirt snow. When I click on dirt, I get green grass. This is with the snow recolor. I've never tried dirt terrain before so it could be a quirk in my game. Has anyone else had trouble getting dirt to come up in their game?

Hmm.. I noticed that in the lot view I can see grids in the snow in the distance... Here's a picture:
