The creative rounds, the camaraderie, and the American dream, pure and simple. When one doesn't have to look any further than the name for something that embodies your heart's desire, one tends to want to be a part of it.
If you were able to go to a country for free, what country would it be, and why?
Oregon Country, to walk in the steps of the pioneers before us and hearken back to the 1800s. Adventure, danger, exploring, new lands and opportunities never imagined in those times... that's the American dream - manifest destiny! Okay, seriously though, there isn't any one place I'd want to go over another, and unless a really compelling urge struck me, I'm fine with staying right here in America. People are so quick to leave it for another culture, but we really do have it all here. You want tropical beaches? We have Hawaii. You want uncharted wilderness? We have Alaska. You want a world hub of fashion, economics, and culture? We have New York. You want something entirely its own, with no analogous equivalent or explanation anywhere on the planet? We have Texas. How do you think America as we know and love it came to be in the first place? Diversity, pure and simple. To be a part of that is to be truly whole.
My husband is really jonesing to go to Bahrain, though, and having seen pictures of the place, I'm inclined to go check it out, too. So Bahrain, I guess, but for him, not for me.
