Default Gathering for a Holiday Feast
Happy Thanksgiving to all the US-based Simmers out there! As I'm working with family to get our Thanksgiving dinner prepared (smaller than usual this year since we're just meeting immediate family) I keep wondering how people do big holiday feasts for their Sims! What kind of preparation do you have? Does the head chef have to keep shooing small children out of the kitchen? Do you have huge family gatherings with all sorts of guests invited from around the neighborhood? Do you have the host family spend hundreds of simoleans on decorating the dining room to be all festive? Does grandpa always fall asleep watching football in his recliner before the meal? Etc., etc.... what do your feasts look like?

I often have huge parties, both with and without the timed scenario. Usually I end up having the best cook in the house make their most skilled dish, and having a buffet table on the side to supplement this (the jelly lasts quite a long time before stinky flies). Occasionally, if it's a birthday party or anniversary, I'll have sims make food before the party starts instead of using the buffet table. You could stash the turkey and pies in the inventory to keep them steamy. How do you make them hungry though? Turkey, cake and pie is very filling!
I love kestrellyn's gift giving mod for holiday parties or birthdays, it's fun because sims get pushed to give a gift throughout a timed party, so you can have your playables eat or socialise and if the gift drops from the queue, the giver will try again later. I love the NPCs and townies in my game, and I have Piqiwi's more walkbys mod, so I usually ask a few of my sim's family or friends over for a party and then invite walkbys in as they pass. More fun!

This year's Thanksgiving at 19 Chorus Court was, if anything, even more chaotic than normal. Mainly due to me being so tired. And there being more Sims there than can get round the little dining table. Here are some pictures. I'll try to add more captions tomorrow.

Gloria, Garry, Andrew and Julian wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all Veronavillian and American Sims and Simmers!

That might not happen too often when my town is just getting started as they would be too busy trying to survive and it might even be just one couple homesteading in the area at forst though they would have a special meal once in a long while to celebrate surviving the first summer or making it through their first winter.

You aren't going to get any less friends. Get a bigger table!

I usually skip Thanksgiving with my Sims, but Xmas is the time I like to do with my Sims first the deco in almost all their home, then I do some of the Community lots that they go to often.
I don't do everyone home or community lots like I use to do because when it's over I have to go around to all of them and remove all the Xmas deco. lol
I do my favorite Sims that I really like with Xmas deco and the community lot they go to often. Happy Holiday to all the simmers.

Guests not sitting around my TL table is the norm, not the exception. I don't have space of a table that is big enough. Pretty sure the sims still enjoyed that party

Since we don't have Thanksgiving in SA, the normal family dinnesr in my game, with Sims serving turkey where the necessary cooking skills were present, had to do.
