Default Converted object's texture looks very blurry from normal camera distance
Hi,

I tried to 4t2 convert SimMattically "Katy Perry CD Collection" to have a CD object for my in-game popstars.
Unfortunately the textures of my conversion appear very very blurry when it's in the normal camera distance. It gets clearer and clearer only when I get closer and closer to it.
(I don't know how to add an image to this post, couldn't figure out what to do with the "Insert Image" thing.)
But here are links to the screenshots of what I mean:

I converted it and built the texture in SimPE.

Would someone happen to know why this happens and how I can make the distant textures as sharp and clear as closer ones?

Thank you!

Did you use the Nvidia DDS tool with either a DDS file or PNG file, and use DXT3 or 5? Make sure to choose "none" for sharpen.

Also make sure you don't do "update all sizes" because this can cause blurry textures at some distances when used with the DXT/DDS texturing. It's meant for the "import" function. The DDS/DXT function updates all sizes automatically.

The game does use the lower resolution textures at a distance and gradually moves to the higher resolution ones, for the sake of not completely overpowering the game - if you're seeing the item at a distance where an 128x128 texture is plenty for the detail level the screen can pick up, there's no point for the computer to render a full 1024x1024 map. The item still shouldn't look too blurry, though.

Thanks for your response!
Yes, your recommendations are how I do recoloring/texturing as well!
I fixed this issue by changing the object I cloned when I wanted to convert the item.
Instead of the little golden frog object, I cloned The Measure of a Sim Wooden Model and somehow texture worked much better this time.
Strange! I don't know why. But at least now my objects have clearer texture

^ The wooden sim sculpture is my personal favorite item to use for small/medium objects. It usually works better for shelves, too.
