Testers Wanted -- No Friends for Fame Career
Hey, fellow simmers! I've made a mod that eliminates the need for celebrity friends in the Fame career that came with Superstar. The thing is, though, that I have all of the expansion packs, and I have them on disk. I don't know how the mod works with the Complete Collection.
Before I announce this mod to the general public (all six of us who are still playing :-D), would you help me out and test this in your game?
@GingerxNinjax asked for this mod, but I was already in the middle of making it for my own use. :-) It works fine for me; please let me know if it works okay for you.
You can get the mod at
http://corylea.com/No_Friends_Neede...The_Sims_1.html.
My mods are always free, and my site doesn't ask for anything -- no registration or any of that crap. Your browser might tell you that my site is "not secure," but since you aren't giving me anything -- my site doesn't ask for information or money or anything at all -- it doesn't NEED to be secure; it's just a plain old download.
Installation
1. Go to your Maxis\GameData folder. Find the
fame.iff file and move it to a safe place that's NOT anywhere in your Maxis folder or a subfolder thereof. I have a folder with all my game back-up stuff, and I make a subfolder in that folder called Sims 1 Original Fame Goes in GameData, then put the original
fame.iff file in there. The name of the subfolder ensures that I remember what this is and why I have it. :-)
2. Unzip the folder you downloaded. Put the
fame.iff file I've given you into your Maxis\GameData folder. Notice that this does NOT go into a sub-folder, the way many other mods do; it goes directly into your GameData folder, so make sure you take it out of the folder it came in.
Any time you want celebrity friends to be required for the Fame career again, just delete the
fame.iff file I've given you and replace it with the
fame.iff file that you backed up.
If you don't want to have to do all the skilling required for the Fame career just to test a mod, Hedda at Some Sim Things has a supersculpture at
http://www.somesimthings.com/Obj/05Obj.htm that, among other things, allows you to max out any skill instantly.
Thank you!!
I make mods for my own use, but I go to all the trouble of uploading them in an attempt to make my fellow simmers happy. If you like the mod, please say so! I don't get mail at corylea.com, but you can leave a comment in this thread; I'll be checking it frequently.
I've made some mods for The Sims 1 -- yes, The Sims ONE :-) -- which you can find at
