This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Language font support and change
Hi guys, I was wondering how can I get my The Sims 2 game to support russian, hebrew, and greek language and font. I have The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection Mr Dj Pack but I think that it doesn't support these three languages. I know I used to have a functioning russian version of the game several years ago but I forgot how did I get it to work ( to support cyrillic ) .I have made a custom music station and added a song whose title is in greek and the game just shows blank letters. Is there something like a file I can download somewhere? I think The Sims 2 is great in helping learning languages so sometimes I like to experiment and change the language but I currently can't for these three.

There are ways to change the language of the game (reinstalling is probably the easiest but not the fastest, but it's possible to tinker with some files too - never done it myself, though). No idea if it's possible to change to something entirely different than what's already available . would require a full edit of the language files is my guess.

Like I said, haven't tried this, so try at your own risk, and backup your game first just to be on the safe side - be warned that townies (new ones, anyway) may switch makes to whatever language you choose.

I think it will only support languages that already exist as options, and fonts may not be supported ingame unless they're already supported by the game. No idea if it's possible to fix it, but there's probably some modder who can prove the theory wrong.

If you made a "default replacement" language instead of one of the languages you don't use, maybe? But that would require a whole lot of work.

A lot of non-AZ characters (mostly various Asian languages) have pie menus that show up blank in my game, mainly poseboxes and older content. Not sure if it's due to font use or the characters, but most of the time it still shows up in SimPE, so I'm guessing it's either the fonts or some kind of special characters that aren't supported by the game.

Yes, I changed the language to French and Chinese and it worked, even though the Sims and some townies and NPCs have new names, that's not a problem. It just seems that there needs to be an "external font support" for russian, hebrew and greek alphabet and these languages do not show up properly when you change the language , everything is blank. Although, as I have said I know I used to make Russian version somehow work, maybe it was a different version of the game I don't remember.
