Pond tool/water disappearing bug
Hello, my game has started to display a weird pond tool bug. The shortest I can explain it is that I had a river around my Sims' house built, and many hours later, suddenly that water was gone. I noticed the water was gone while I was busy building a swimming pool (with the swimming pool tool) in the backyard of the house. I did not use the pond tool around that time (!) but I did use some elevation/world building tools (sorry I don't know what it's called in English, but the one that makes the ground look more flat). I am not 100% sure if the bug occured while I was building the swimming pool, or way before and I simply did not notice (I was working inside the house for a long time before this).
Here is a screenshot of the before and after:

I tried recreating the river, and when I hit certain spots, the already existing water just disappears. I made a video showing the problem:

I have put many items on this lot, mainly many plants and decoration items. I was wondering if this could be causing it? The game seems like it can handle it. My computer is also pretty strong I think, these are the specs:

I wanted to go through the Sims 3 game problem page, but I got a little overwhelmed and I am very scared I will somehow undo the work I did on this savefile. This is the page I found:
https://modthesims.info/wiki.php?ti..._3_Game_Problem
I most certainly want to try the things on that page, but I have a few questions about them:
1) Deleting all your cache files - will this edit anything on my savefile in any way? I am worried I will have to re-do some of the building I did, essentially. If someone could confirm that deleting cache files will not undo my work I will try that.
2) Removing custom content temporarily - if I open the game when custom content is in use, but not in the game, won't it.. break the game? What will happen with all the objects I used that don't exist anymore? I assume it will show a placeholder object or give some sort of error. If I then put the custom content back after re-testing the water bug, will everything be completely like before? Or will I have to repair each individual thing?
Basically I am a little paranoid my many hours I poured into this Sims lot will be ruined or have to be re-done somehow. So if someone could hold my hand and take a look at this with me, I would appreciate it greatly.
P.S. English is not my first language so I'm sorry if something sounds weird.
