We all badly need Patches and Packs that cheer us up and as St Valentine's Day is next month maybe we could go along the Generations path with more romance and consequences, Births, better babies, weddings, and funerals, venues like churches (or whatever suits you to choice), and feasts, Depends whether they make it a Game or Expansion pack on how generous they are. better still a free update they probably owe everybody who has paid out on the game so far.

It could be followed (or preceded) by a Patch for funerals and cemeteries for all players. More work for Grimmie, but some might want that to help with mourning they are doing at the moment. The game is not complete without cemetaries.

Not all cheerful but it might help me get through the Lockdown the UK is in now, even over Valentine's.

PS: Even better if they added Hotels and a Bridal Suite!

In that specific instance, Grant said it wasn't because actually adding them would push the rating or anything. He said it was that it wouldn't appeal to younger players who wouldn't have any interest in casinos. Which, despite the fact... wait for it... THIS GAME IS RATED T. I REPEAT TTTTTTTTTTT. Why do they try so hard to appeal to *specifically* younger players despite the fact that they aren't even the minimum age range the game is designed for? They did it with TS3, and at the time it was considered a more tame game compared to TS2.

Grant is so idiotic sometimes it honestly blows my mind.

Sims 4 is rated 12 on the PEGI scale, and copying what they say about it is.... Looks like a casino wouldn't be out of the question in those circumstances. Maybe he was trying to hide that casinos might come in a much later pack or not until he had left?

'PEGI 12
Video games that show violence of a slightly more graphic nature towards fantasy characters or non-realistic violence towards human-like characters would fall in this age category. Sexual innuendo or sexual posturing can be present, while any bad language in this category must be mild. Gambling as it is normally carried out in real life in casinos or gambling halls can also be present (e.g. card games that in real life would be played for money)."

I'm sure he pushed the idea around in his head that since kids wouldn't be old enough to go to one, they'd have no idea what it was. And it would've made perfect sense to him. I knew what a casino was at 12, and what people did at one.

I still think about the Cats and Dogs livesteam sometimes where someone asked something as innocent as seeing the woohoo spot at the lighthouse and he was all "Weeee can't show thaaaat, come on guysss", like it was full-on graphic WW style sex being shown. JM and Romeo even called him out on it, reminding him it was a rated T game. He looked so annoyed lol.

Don't forget Grant is the guy who said dog houses weren't included in Cats&Dogs because they're abusive.
No there is nothing abusive about providing your dog with a dry shaded place to go while they're outside.
While it could mabye be argueed that keeping a dog outside 24/7 in all types of weather is abuse, No one could argue that leaving one outside of any length of time without access to shelter is.
Plus even before the game was released it was pools and toodlers can't happen right now because the engine doesn't support them. If that where true they would not have been added with FREE updates because the engine would have needed to be overhauled at least somewhat first. And no way the greedy overlords are letting that much effort happen without some momentary return.
So yeah anytime someone from the TS4 team says "x cant be added for some technical/sociallogical reason" I immedantly translate that to " because it's way too much work and we really don't care enough about the quality of our product to invest that much".
Just wish they would admit that they dont have the freedom, resources, and skills that the TS2&3 teams had instead of hidding behind these flimsy excuses.

I think the team do have the skills but don't have the freedom or resources. Many of them worked on the previous iterations and some probably even longer than Gurus Grant, Graham or Ninja, not producers but specialists in their fields.

This looks like something new in their jobs advertised last week. Still advertising for Sims 4.......

Outsourcing Character Review Artist – Maxis

'The Sims 4 has a very unique player base with 60% of our audience being women between the ages of 18-24. We are looking for someone with deep insights on how to create the best experience for our players.

As an Outsourcing Character Review Artist, you will maintain the visual style of any assigned project and coordinate and supervise the efforts of vendors to achieve that look. You will work with the outsourcing lead, Art Director, and other art leads to help guide the outsourced content creation on several characters and clothing assets. You will contribute to the success of our outsourcing efforts, and will need to work in a dynamic environment, while maintaining a productive relationship with external partners to provide high quality art with consistency and efficiency ........................'

I doubt if he's actually idiotic any more than Trump is - you don't get to high up in any organisation unless you're smart. I think it's more that he's disrespectfully waving off our concerns with the first nonsense that comes into his head rather than explain the actual reasons, or even honestly tell us "I am not meant to tell you what was discussed in our meetings" which will possibly be the real reason.

Smart people don't work for EA.  Smart people also don't borrow from their 401K to buy a house or anything else for that matter.  People get slammed with a 10% penalty and big government takes half of what was 'borrowed' automatically.

The only reason I bring this up is because when Grant's personal Twitter wasn't private, he spent a lot of time bitching about how EA had to do better with their stock because the asshat named Grant drained his account for house he clearly couldn't afford otherwise.  The people that hang out on Twatter are so brilliant, all of them should be called Sunny.

The joys of stupid people! Handing over their money and then some just so they can be impulsive and compare themselves to their neighbors.

Good on him for realizing he only blocks everybody from his personal account except his inner circle of PC SJW corporate humanoids, and saving the effort.

If he bought a house in the area, it's pretty clear he's going to ride The Sims all the way to the ground. We can only hope it's sooner rather than later.

Since people are so willing to pay fat stupid taxes, I say bring on all the stupid taxes.  Borrowing from retirement plans, credit card debt, student loans, car loans...the sky is the limit. Somebody has to pay for all the SJW crap.

There is a 'theory' that TS4 is already in trouble.  EA hasn't hired any so-called professionals to advertise for TS4 until recently and even then, that was bad.  The ad had a disclaimer that was being shown was actual gameplay, but schools for TS4 are rabbitholes.  Nobody should be surprised by this false information, but I do wonder how much people are paid to peddle such bullshit with their name on it.

Theory:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neZ...sNeckOfTheWoods

Ad: ( this is not linked directly to the ad itself. It is linked to a person talking about the ad. EA doesn't get clicks on my time...) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1L...nnel=SimmerErin

One of these days I need to look into whether complaints can be filed with the federal trade commission regarding false advertising.  This wouldn't take long, however, it keeps slipping out my radar.

EDIT: I did finally look up whether complaints can be filed with the FTC. It can be done, but there are lots of hoops that need to be jumped through and most cases are referred to state level.  In other words, if a person lives in a EA friendly state, it isn't likely the complaint would be taken seriously unless EA did something really bad.

Why does EA want to buy Codemasters when Codemasters haven't produced much recently?

Simmers: How about a Racing car expansion for Sims 4!

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2...thdraws_its_bid

"Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA had this to say in a company announcement: “We believe there is a deeply compelling opportunity in bringing together Codemasters and Electronic Arts to create amazing and innovative new racing games for fans. Our industry is growing, the racing category is growing, and together we will be positioned to lead in a new era of racing entertainment,” he continued “We have admired Codemasters’ creative talent and high-quality games for many years. With the full leverage of EA’s technology, platform expertise, and global reach, this combination will allow us to grow our existing franchises and deliver more industry-defining racing experiences to a global fan base.”

I can't decide if you really don't understand how EA works or if these posts are just to see who will take the bait.  The bolded part of the quote explains what Android Wilson is up to. He wants to do what EA always does.

Buy this studio, purchase / own the rights to all IPs, then suck as much cash out of all IPs or games as they can.  EA doesn't just go around offering money to studios.  If there was no money to be had, EA wouldn't bother.  I digress. The part the humanoid didn't mention of course is once any (all) of the IPs or games have been sufficiently destroyed, they will become more proverbial headstones in EA's game graveyard. They've done this very thing 14 times thus so far; this acquisition would make 15.

As a side note, I wanted to see why Take-Two decided to decline their offer.  There wasn't much of a reason other than EA came in with a higher bid.  Take-Two, the last time I checked, has zero debt on their books. I'm speculating, but if I had to guess, they probably decided that getting into a bidding war wasn't worth it.  While I was looking, I found the following quote. The first sentence is about keeping Codemasters alive and thriving, the rest explains itself.

Quote:
Through the darkness of future past

Of course, if EA does acquire the studio, the risk of that not happening increases significantly. EA famously purchased another excellent company, Criterion Games, and took it off its own franchise and put it on the Need For Speed games. Eventually, EA ended up gutting the studio and splitting it between its original name and Ghost Games, before eventually removing both from the playing field and giving the franchise to another developer.

Obviously, any statement that the same awful fate will befall Codemasters would be purely speculation, but the concern still remains. Here’s to hoping that we keep getting great Dirt games for years to come.

https://www.pcinvasion.com/take-two-codemasters/

EA destroyed Need for Speed.  There is no reason to think that history won't repeat itself.  EA is the Grim Reaper of gaming studios and the games they produced before selling to the company voted twice for golden poo awards.

Sims 4 update: 1-21-21:

PC: 1.70.84.1020 / Mac: 1.70.84.1220

Console: Version 1.37

Something paranormal this way comes…

There are a number of new terrifying and spooky creatures waiting to make your acquaintance. Not all of them will try to scare you, and some are just downright cute. Still your sims lives are about to become a little otherworldly. It’s time to enjoy letting things get a little paranormal.

Boo! Were you Scared? Probably not…

But what you might be interested in hearing is that there is a new emotion that you may see your sims in starting with this patch. There are two levels to this emotion, Scared and Terrified. When you find that your sim is too scared to do things they will be able to try and calm themselves through a few methods… ones that I would obviously know nothing about… *shifty eyes*

There are a few different ways that your sims can try to rid themselves of their fear, things like hiding under the covers or screaming incoherently can put them on the track to being fine once again. A number of buffs from previous packs will now be updated and classified as scared or terrified. It should give a whole new dimension to your sims, it’s like they’re 4d! *hushed whispers* Ohh… that’s not what 4d is? Nevermind.

As a bonus, Simmers with a Razer Chroma enabled setup (Single Zone Chroma RGB Lighting is not supported) can get more immersed in The Sims by extending the experience to your desktop. The Razer Chroma lighting will reflect the moods of your selected Sims*, colors that match the theme of the secret world you are visiting and more. You can disable the dynamic lighting in Game Options > Other if this is something you don’t fancy as well.

*Please note that you will need to be running Windows with Razer Synapse installed and running to make use of the dynamic lighting.

Now onto the fixes:

Sims 4

● Fixed an issue related to game freezing or hanging related to Platforms usage that made the game unrecoverable.

● For our Xbox One Simmers, we have fixed an issue in which the audio was distorted after several hours of gameplay.

● Empty plates left on the counter will no longer have the “Load Dishwasher” option greyed out. Honestly, this was the universe telling you that you probably shouldn’t use the dishwasher for one plate, but you’re welcome.

● This editor and the Localization team fixed a few typos, capitalization issues, tweaked and enhanced (ENHANCE!) some translations across all packs as it is customary in all updates.

Get Famous

● Sims can now be opted out of Fame in the Options Menu once again. Don’t care about the bling or the hi-life, ‘cause Simoleons ain’t mean thing if ya ain’t Simming right.

Snowy Escape

● Fixed an issue in which Snowy Escape-locked CAS items were showing up when randomizing clothing in Create a Sim. And thus concludes the Window Shopping experience =(

Journey to Batuu

● We fixed an issue that made the game crash if you were idle for a while in Batuu. I know I am all for doing all the activities all the time, but taking a breather (or well, staring… I mean admiring Kylo for a while) and having the game crash? I can only take so much at one time, you know?

Tiny Living

● Child Sims will no longer levitate or perform the “Warn about Bed Safety” interaction on Murphy Beds. Turns out the Child Sims had joined a levitating class, so things are looking up!

● The Media Marathoner will now properly display Power Consumption Ratings. When you waste electricity in the game, you’re wasting electricity in real life!

● Simmers who own Seasons will now see the “Egg Hunt” interaction on the Media Marathoner and the Media Marathoner All-on-the-Wall.

Nifty Knitting

● Cat owners rejoice! Now balls of Yarn made by pet Cats are able to be kept as owned. Whew! Toys for life! Until the next item of interest appears...

● Fixed an issue in which Sims that didn’t have the Kleptomaniac Trait were able to have the “Attempt to Swipe” interaction available on balls of Yarn and Yarn Baskets. Kleptomaniac Sims rejoice on having their interaction for themselves…

● Fixed an issue that made the notification for acquiring the Aspiration Lord/Lady of the Knits was not being displayed.

● Sims’ feet will no longer sink into the ground if they decide to abruptly end (cancel the interaction) their Rocking on the Rocking Chair. I… Never mind, carry on.

● After Sims Teach to Knit, other interactions such as Knit will be able to be performed. This means that after teaching to knit, you can actually knit. That seems like it should happen!

● This editor and the Localization team fixed a few typos, capitalization issues, tweaked and enhanced (ENHANCE!) some translations across all packs as it is customary in all updates. < There is no enhancement here. Your best translation to ever answering the phone in game is "OKAY."

Get Famous

● Sims can now be opted out of Fame in the Options Menu once again. Don’t care about the bling or the hi-life, ‘cause Simoleons ain’t mean thing if ya ain’t Simming right. < That's right, and money shouldn't mean a thing if you aren't giving us an actual stable game with options. Oh wait, EA doesn't work this way.

Snowy Escape

● Fixed an issue in which Snowy Escape-locked CAS items were showing up when randomizing clothing in Create a Sim. And thus concludes the Window Shopping experience =( < Thus concludes the Sims 4 experience, more like.

Journey to Batuu

Tiny Living

● Child Sims will no longer levitate or perform the “Warn about Bed Safety” interaction on Murphy Beds. Turns out the Child Sims had joined a levitating class, so things are looking up! < That's a shame, creepy levitating children are something I've always wanted in life.

● The Media Marathoner will now properly display Power Consumption Ratings. When you waste electricity in the game, you’re wasting electricity in real life! < The moment I turn on the Sims 4 I'm wasting electricity. And fun. And time. Why am I playing again?

● Simmers who own Seasons will now see the “Egg Hunt” interaction on the Media Marathoner and the Media Marathoner All-on-the-Wall. < Oh good. This was up there with the must fix immediately bugs.

Nifty Knitting

● Cat owners rejoice! Now balls of Yarn made by pet Cats are able to be kept as owned. Whew! Toys for life! Until the next item of interest appears... < Which isn't uncommon given this game's myriad of bugs.

● Fixed an issue in which Sims that didn’t have the Kleptomaniac Trait were able to have the “Attempt to Swipe” interaction available on balls of Yarn and Yarn Baskets. Kleptomaniac Sims rejoice on having their interaction for themselves…< Can everyone steal the Sims 5 for themselves? Can this be a thing? Clearly you're too incompetent, EA.

● Fixed an issue that made the notification for acquiring the Aspiration Lord/Lady of the Knits was not being displayed. < Again, another critical bug fix in light of everything else.

● Sims’ feet will no longer sink into the ground if they decide to abruptly end (cancel the interaction) their Rocking on the Rocking Chair. I… Never mind, carry on. < They're just trying to leave this BLOODY AWFUL life simulator. Can't blame 'em.

● After Sims Teach to Knit, other interactions such as Knit will be able to be performed. This means that after teaching to knit, you can actually knit. That seems like it should happen! < Not in this game, no. I'd give up any hobbies too that I used to like playing this... Ah, that's already happening.

Still haven't fixed Sims not eating at the dinner table; still no queue dropping fix; no fix for Sims being at home but still have "At Work" status on their icon; still no fix for children not going to school; jump bug still not fixed. Okay, I need to stop now before this becomes really long. Doesn't seem like they've fixed anything that's important (to me at least).

Mods. people buy the game because they can get mods that fix problems, or change things that EA did that you don't like.
For example, https://littlemssam.tumblr.com/
I wish I knew how to mod. I can see the link between TDESC and XML files, not sure how to match up the two without a big database.

Eh, I guess. Modding out problems works for PC players, console players can't use them though. They're at the mercy of EA to stay on top of things. Yikes!
