Default (SOLVED) Neighborhood crashes after loading
Hello!

I went over all the problems already talked about and I tried to do some research on my own, but I couldn't find specifically what I need, so I'd be very happy if anyone knew what's going on with my game.

I've been playing with this neighborhood for over a year, and I've progressed it a lot. It has around 200 sims and a lot of lots, so this is a BIG neighborhood, but it had never caused any issues at all. Every time I loaded my neighborhood, everything would happen normally and as it should. I've always been extremely careful about corruption and I use hood checker regularly.

I recently reinstalled the game in the same computer I had it before, and I put my neighborhoods back in. All of them loaded and worked just fine, except for this one. After loading, all the lots just appear flat on the ground and the game crashes immediately. I've tried for it to load several times, but it's always the same thing.

My suspicion is that this happens because this is a big neighborhood with a lot of images to load, and my computer can't handle it. Maybe because I've just reinstalled the game that everything has to be loaded "at once", and my graphics card might not be powerful enough, but I don't know for sure. Again, before I reinstalled, it always loaded fine, but now it crashes right after loading. Do you think my neighborhood is just dead and gone forever?

I'd appreciate any advice or theories you can share with me. Thank you!

Did you install the 4G patch? It might help take the load off your game.

Uh-oh. Although, you should check the exception log to see how much memory it says you have just to be certain it’s properly in there.

By the way, did you clear out the neighborhood manager file?

Thank you! I tried it again after following your advice and it still crashed. Fortunately I have a university attached so I tried to access it instead of the main map and it worked, so I know the neighborhood still works to some degree I just need to figure out how to get to the main hood

Hello! Thank you so much for your help :lovestruc
I ended up reinstalling my 4GB Patch and Graphic Rules Maker, and next time I tried to load it, it worked! I guess something got screwed up during my last Windows Update, even though I'm still resisting updating to Windows 11.

Thank you!

Very similar to something I had and what a few others have had. Do you by chance have an AMD graphics card and lots of CC? My only solution was to upgrade to a NVIDIA card. https://modthesims.info/showthread....542#post5378542 https://modthesims.info/showthread....101#post5379101 and https://modthesims.info/showthread....381#post5393381

Also check that your antivirus is set to not read sims 2 files -I had that one time too and it did some very bad things to sims 2 character files.

The reason I would never use AMD again is this:https://www.pcworld.com/article/407...ards-worse.html
and they had an update at the time that broke directX9 games (sims 2 is such a game)

I do have an AMD and lots of CC I guess I'll update to a different one when I can. Right now my game is working fine again. I tried entering through my university subhood, and then go to the main hood. That way it would load little by little, though I would've been there for ages. I reinstalled my 4gb patch and my graphic rules maker, and my game works again. The only thing that is different now is that less sims show up at community lots, when I used to be able to have 6 or 7 visitors I believe, and I know this number is also affected by my graphics card. Thank you for your advice! I hope I don't have any other problems soon.

And yeah, playing TS2 has been quite a ride when it comes to making it work I've had different issues over the years, but I have faith there's always a solution. Thank you again!

You're so welcome! I'm glad you got it working!

(Also I don't recommend Windows 11 from all I've heard, lol)
