Default House of the Lords ver 2.00
You know it already for sure, Sims3 is a incredible wonderful game with still so many things to do. You may have some feeling it's far too easy sometimes. It s nice to have time and not be stressed like in the real life but when you discovered: -how quickly you can preserve your sim from the death -how useless it could be to go through generations in that case -how going again and again on holidays let you be a superheros in no time -how to never be concerned by money problems... Perhaps you checked then some other challenges to bring back some substance. Challenges are good for new discoveries, but may become quickly boring with all the restrictions which you don't feel them as so essential to your game. And competition is not always the best to have a good fun of it. This is why and how i wrote this challenge. Think of it like a skeleton, which prevents you to get bored each time you launch a long term story. Ideas:
  • Leave only half of your household live for ever, other half should still face the death.
  • Make these deities very unique and different between them
  • Organize the way to get to their privilege, and how to cope with failures too.
  • Create new spaces inside your house for different status.
I leave the most fancy part to you: Live your own story in it! If you want "extraordinary", it's easy to play this challenge including other ones, like prisoners, secluded students, genetics, apocalyptic and so on... Welcome to the House of the Lords! [pre] PS: I chose to give you a full sized and detailed rule so as to leave the less possible obscure point. Better as to have to read a 400 pages thread as i saw in some challenges. Since many weeks, i tested and i still test this set of rules; i will update it each time it could be improved. If i get only a very few playing it, i would have achieve my small dream. Please don't forget to share it with me! [/pre] Rule-set ver 2.00
The Lords of the Sims are four sims deities living together, their knowledge and their personality cover all the sims knowledge in a very unique way for each.
CONDITION OF PLAY: You’ll need World Adventure, Ambition and Late Night at least. Using more of them may lengthen the completion of the challenge with new skills and LTR, although they may bring you more choice and stuff to help. (i play myself with all EPs) For keeping your fun high, avoid using: Potions, elixirs (We are not in here for a short one sims-week challenge...) and supernatural states of life. (too much easiness would ruin the challenge but well if you can't play a humanoid...) Genie wish of fortune (too much early cash, use the inheritance LTR instead) Transmutation and transfigurification ( Do you really want to get some millions from your first generation? If you use them, keep your ultra-nectars and compendium deep buried in your basement for the end of the challenge...It s really no sense here to start like this) Some custom objects from EA store: tab-cast (obviously will fully break the challenge), children furniture ( How can you leave your future deities on their own like this??), street market, greenhouse for the most altering ones Brain machine enhancement (skilling up too easy) and drinks (Well less obvious of a help but...) from the University EP. [pre] Even if i warn you and you still want to use some of these, try a regular challenge first to feel the beat then set yourself higher requirements: When using the tab-cast CC to skill up in no time, or any mean to get very quick and easy money, you need to fix something like at least twice or three time more difficult goals. I played it myself first time in a too easy way, so i replayed and tested it again and again, excluding all these easy ways, even accepting the unexpected in my story, (like: what?? I eat 30 watermelons and i still get a boy?...) and got so much more fun like this. I really encourage you on that line. You can have all kind of customs contents from the beginning installed but be waiting the completion of the challenge to let your Lords use them, that will be one great reward. (Hope it will not make your game more buggy too) [/pre] Some optional HARDCORE rules are added for the most crazy players between us or simply already well experienced (more requirements or higher ones, more activities)! [pre] To enjoy playing the full HARDCORE rule set with less stress, you may consider these settings from the beginning (option panel): baby:3, toddler:6, child:10, teen:17, young adult:26, adult:25, elder:14 [/pre] If you are not afraid to engage yourself in a full hardcore Lord, read even more carefully this rule to not miss some planning ahead... GOAL START HOUSEHOLD ALTERING AGE RULE TRAVELING STORY PROGRESSION CEREMONY CHOSEN CHOSEN' SUITE PROVOST LORD SUITE LORDS GRAVEYARD FAILURES GAME-PLAY/OTHERS STARTING POOR (HC) HALLs OF FAME GOAL you'll try to raise four unique sims deities (Lords) inside your household.
They should not share any
  • skill (not even a single point)
  • career
  • Life Time Wish (LTW)
  • Life Time Reward. (LTR)
The Lords should have at least 20 best friends outside. The Lords should have supermaxed all the skills available (not including: hidden skills and collection) without sharing any. "Supermaxing a skill" means you reached 10 and all challenges related to it have been completed. The Lords should have together collected all the Life Time Rewards (LTR) without sharing any.
Exception: these 5 LTRs are always allowed to be shared: Steel bladder, Dirt defiant, Carefree, Hardly hungry, Meditative trance sleep.
START Launch a new game and decide yourself who will be the founder. He/She may bring a few other sims with him too. Game Options:
  • Length:
    1. easy: baby:3, toddler:6, child:10, teen:17, young adult:26, adult:25, elder:14

  • Aging: On
  • Story Progression: On
  • Freewill: High
  • Season Length & Weather: Player's Choice .
(I put myself: summer/28 days other seasons/7 days) Forgetting to get new generations in the founder bloodline is the only way to fail the challenge! An optional HARDCORE start as a "no money in my pocket and alone" is given at the end of rule. HOUSEHOLD Your household is made of:
  1. bee: normal mortal sims (not Chosen, not Provost and not Lord.)
  2. Chosen: elected between the toddler bees; in bloodline with the founder. May alter his age 1 time if successful.
  3. Provost: elected between the successful Chosen. May alter again his age 1 time if successful
  4. Lords: successful provost May alter his age as he wants.
Only Lords, Provosts, and Chosen candidate to be Lord later, have to follow the goal requirements. ALTERING AGE RULE Lords may alter their aging process as they want. Lords only can eat ambrosia. Beside The exception, these are forbidden for not-a-Lord sims:

  2. young again potion
  3. young again LTR
  4. drinking from Leon's Fountain of Youth (Hidden Springs)
  5. genie wish for long life
  6. death flower in their inventory.
The exception: Chosen and Provost who succeed at the end of the adult stage can put one death flower in their inventory (not renewable when used) and at the time they want, will have one chance (only one) to use one in this list.. All these are always forbidden for not-a-Lord sim:

  2. ambrosia
  3. eating Life Fruit or food/nectar/drinks with Life Fruit inside,

    • First time: 2 members of your household have accomplished their Life Time Wish (LTW) and are still alive.
    • 2d time: same but 3 members.
    • 3d time: same but 4
    • after: same but 4
  2. To be able to travel again after each of your vacation (university too), you must invite a foreign visitor, get him to overstay one night at least and reach the best friend status level between one of your household members and the visitor. To invite the same visitor again is allowed. In case of your relationships are not enough high for all of your sims to invite one foreign visitor, then requirement becomes to wait one week before being able to travel again.
There are no restriction for how many members and who will travel together. All these restrictions end when a Lord owns 1 holiday home in the country where you want to travel, house worth more as 300 000, furnitures included. Furnitures (including cars) will have to stay in the lot. You can sell them only if at the same time you buy something more expensive to put on the lot. HARDCORE rules (optional)
  1. You can't invite the same visitor again.
  2. Only young adults and adults can travel, or go to the university.

  2. Every time a household sim die and one time each year (or every eight weeks if you dont have season) on sunday a mourning ceremony is hold in the graveyard.
Drinking and eating are not requested for these ceremonies. CEREMONY a ceremony is held each time a very unique event happen in the family. The sim concerned by the event should throw himself the party, or, if not possible, the older of the bloodline. If possible, best friends, then good friends and friends of this sim should be first invited. You may fill the list with other friends of the household but not inviting any simple aquaintance. All the members of the household need to join the festivity and be together in a room once first then: During the ceremony each member of the household (pets, babies and toddlers not included) has to do (at least): 2 between these 3:

CHOSENS Bees have freedom but bees are born to die. Electing a bee to become Chosen, then he may escape death later... under some condition of success. For a bee to become a Chosen, he need to be a toddler, to be in the bloodline of the founder and at any time, you need to keep at least one bee in your household. Aceremony is held each time you elect a Chosen. (see: ceremony) Before reaching teen stage, the chosen has to move into the Chosens' Suite and spend most of his time there until being an elder. Check the Goal section and the Lord section for the specific requirements to follow during Chosen life stages for Chosen who want to become a provost and a Lord! At the end of the adult stage chosen is no more chosen and have to leave the Suite. To be successful, 1 day before being elder, the chosen should have:
  1. supermax 2 skills "Supermaxing a skill" means you reached 10 and all challenges related to it have been completed.
  2. reached the top level of one rabbithole job [pre] art appraiser-business-criminal/evil-criminal/thief-culinary-film/actor-film/director-journalism-law enforcement/forensics-law enforcement/spy-medical-military-music/rock-music/symphonic-political-prof. sport-science-sport agent -teacher-video game developer [/pre]
  3. reached the top level of one not rabbithole profession [pre] all self-employment jobs and acrobat-magician-singer-architect-firefighter-ghost hunter-day care-private investigator [/pre]Note: part time jobs doesn't qualify (bookstore/grocery/cemetery/spa).
  4. have one best friend outside the household. If you don't have one, you still have a chance to succeed during your elder age: retire from any job and stay retired living in the chosen Suite until you get a circle of 3 best friends outside your household.
Successful chosen earns the right to alter his age once (see altering age rule) Successful chosen who cautiously followed lords and goal requirements may become provost too, next step on the way to Lord (see Provost rule) HARDCORE rule (optional)
  1. each time you want to elect a chosen, check this rule: you cant have more as 2 chosens in the stage [toddler-child] at the same time and you cant have more chosens as not chosen living in your household. (If the rule is broken because one sim die later, it doesn't matter until the time you want to elect a new chosen.)
  2. Residents in the chosen' Suite can't share any skills between them! That s the only restriction for a chosen who doesn't want later to become a Lord. (For example they can share LTRs, they can share skills with elder ex-chosen, provosts or bees...)
  3. A ceremony is held each time a chosen is successful.
CHOSENS' SUITE There is only one chosens' suite where all the chosen share their life together. The Chosens’ Suite includes at least -one room (enclosed space with 4 walls and door/arch) for each type of room in [buy mode/by type of room] (first tab up) (transportation not included) -one of the 10 most expensive objects of each logo of each type of room -a fireplace. The 25 nicely decorated moodlet (or the 40 one) has to be activated everywhere in the Suite (ladders, rooms, outdoors...) without any interruption. Note: you cannot mix the 25 with the 40 because in that case you will have interruption Entry to the Chosen Suite is forbidden to anybody besides the romantic interests of the Chosen (locking doors) Chosen only can clean, repair and upgrade objects used in the Suite (Don't use buy/build mode to put them outside) Chosen may spend time outside their Suite but still will prefer to live as much as possible in it. 1. supermax 2 more skills (so 4 supermaxed skills altogether)
  2. reached the top level of one of these jobs: [pre]acrobat-magician-singer-architect-firefighter-ghost hunter-day care-private investigator[/pre]
If so, he earns the right to
  • alter again, for the second time in his life, his age once (see altering age rule)
  • (or) be candidate to become a Lord.
Unsuccessful Provost must retire from any job, stay retired and leave their Lord Suite. They wont never be able again to be a chosen, provost or Lord. Successful Provost stay in their Lord Suite as long as they have a chance to become Lord. When they lose this chance by using their altering age reward or by failing a requirement (see: Lords) they must leave the Lord Suite. They may keep their job. They will never be able again to be a chosen, provost or Lord. LORD SUITE The 4 amazing and luxurious Lord Suite are the living quarters of the Lords and the provosts with still a chance to become Lord. These Suite are part of the family house on your active lot. Each Suite resident may decide who can access or not his own living space. GRAVEYARD The household will build a private graveyard to store the remains of the defunct of the family on a separated owned lot. The graveyard will be organized according to the status of the dead in the family. Title and defunct name will be included in the epigraph. FAILURES: [pre] Unlike many other challenges you may enjoy a failure like a specific event in your game, and allow one of your sim to give up his privileges to another one. I hope that could inspire something more in your stories too [/pre]
  • If your Lords fail their restriction by sharing a skill, career, LTW or LTR, you don't fail the challenge but the two Lords incriminated lose their titles and their rights. As soon as you notice the failure they become bees at the age they are.
  • As soon as you discover that a Provost fails in his requirement (like, for example, a book written too late or not of the right quality, or the impossibilty to reach the top of his career...), he should leave immediately the Lord suite and lose his title and advantages.
  • As soon as you discover that a Chosen fails in his requirement (like, for example a skill too long to supermax and no other supermaxedskill to replace it), he should leave immediately the chosen suite and lose his title and advantages.
  • If somebody not allowed enters the Chosen's suite, all the residents of the Suite lose their title and privilege.
  • If any bee, Chosen or Provost altered once his aging process or avoided his death (aside from the rewards, see the exception of the altering age rule), he still stay in dismay in the household until his death:
    • He stop working, and stop producing anything (sculpture, painting, pic, invention, nectar, drinks...) and any income. If he cant avoid some income like written books royalties, you may use the cheat console to substract them from the family funds
    • He should not cook, repair, upgrade, do gardening or nectar, dance, jam or play music for others on your lot.
    • He cant invite sims.
    • He cant procreate.
    • He should not get Life Time Rewards.
    • Only allowed social interaction involving him on your lot are mean interaction.
Be careful to not push him out of the household.
HARDCORE rules (optional) Lords or Chosen failing should first stay in dismay for 48hrs (as described up.) and cant buy any more LTR until their death. Everyday one of the household members have to do a mean interaction against each dismayed sim. Dismayed should stay in bad mood and collect as few as possible LTR points. GAMEPLAY/OTHERS you can move your household as long as it doesn’t affect aging. You may own more lands than those required for becoming a Lord. you should not reload any savegame for coming back to a better evolution of your household, only for game glitches. you may use any CC, mods, edit town,... as long as it stay in a gameplay interest but not to get a better ranking in the Hall of Fame. STARTING POOR (Optional HARDCORE rule) note: nice rule to meet other sims quickly and go explore outside of your own lot. The founder is created in the CAS, traits are randomly chosen. You can reroll the dice twice, no more, when creating him/her in the CAS. His life time wish is pre-generated by the CAS, you cant pick up another one by opening the "other choices" menu. The founder starts with zero cash and owns whatever empty lot in whatever world you like! Sell the camera from his inventory then use the cheat panel to put the cash at zero: Press Command-Shift-C to open the cheat panel (screen will turn gray) Type testingcheatsenabled true, then Return/Enter Type familyfunds [Nameofhousehold] [0], then Return/Enter Type testingcheatsenabled false, then Return/Enter HALLs OF FAME There are really so many ways to play this challenge. These will lower the quality of the challenge by breaking the balance (but obviously can sweet it in case you want to play much more relax)
  1. edit town to add more buildings as the one required by the extensions, or to modify the position of preexisting building
  2. unlimited use of the moodlet manager or the motive mobile
  3. household member be a Vampire/Genie/Werewolf/Fairy/Simbot/mummy/plantsims
  4. transmutation ,transfigurification
  5. genie LTR with the fortune wish
  6. wish enhancing serum and midas touch
  7. custom contents from EA (like wishing well, greenhouse, toddler park, children swing or tab-cast...)
  8. 3d party custom content or mods (nrass, awesome mods...)
  9. more extended lifetime in the option panel
On the opposite side you may try harder and follow some or all of the optional hardcore rules. Full hardcore may lessen the "creating a story" side of your game. But nevertheless it will be so interesting to see how you play it (and eventually finish it)and how long in sims-days it took to do it. Interesting to know how you were annoyed (or hopefully not) by bugs and glitches too, especially if you consider the wish to build a kind of palace with luxuries Suites and the necessity to go through some generations and sims-weeks of play. At least, better use the starting poor optional rule (same start for everybody is necessary for comparison) When you finish the challenge, note the sim-time it took to do it (hovering the clock ingame). Aside from the time taken, don't forget to mention your specific way (please be fair by checking the list up) and which hardcore rules you reach to follow if any. Links to your stories will be very appreciated and any feedback for how you did enjoy (or not) to play it! Any variation like including other rules from other challenges or putting your own colors will be really interesting and crucial to read from you. Any improvement (as long as you really played it) too. Depending of the future interest of players to this challenge: Open, Legacy and Hardcore Halls of Fame may be opened later but let me doubt on this :lovestruc Happy siming!

Default Story
Here is the link to my story playing the challenge

Taner HoL

It s mid-way in the challenge gonna get my first provost.
I play full household because i want to see how long it takes... But it s nothing related to the rules you can play a 3 people household for example, no problem.

Hope you enjoy it!

I love this challenge. This needs a lot of planning and it seems to be a fairly long challenge, especially to raise all the money required to build the chosens' suit, and then the suites of the Lords. I'll start it right now creating my founder, using the starting poor option (do not know if I will use the others hardcore rules).
I think it'll take a while to get the first Chosen, I would need the suite almost complete for that.
I think I will marry my founder immediately and recruit other townies to start making money faster (thank god for wild flowers and dumspter diving )

Like in other kind of dynasty challenges, if you go to play it at full speed it may become sometimes exhausting!
And will require lot of planning. I play it like you too but it s absolutely not required, you can start with less sims and see how many you like to play at the same time.
I went to be short of space one time... Classical failure! But you only lose time, not the challenge at least

The goal is to have 4 Lords only, not 8 like in many other dynasty challenges. That s may avoid you to have over populated households.

I m really happy for your interest, please tell me later how your game is going!

Hardcore rules were seriously created you dont have to play them but you can add some during your game if you find them becoming attractive (like some more requirements for becoming Lord)

Thanks

Another thing is:
money with big household will not be so much a problem ( you talked about the Suites, another big expense are the properties they need to buy)
in my last game i have a thick mattress of simeoleons

Main thing is to have ready and well trained sims to start as soon as possible to produce the high quality stuff required for becoming a Lord later
