Very quick update, while sharing this error I noticed this made files in my app data folder, clearing those allowed it to boot up

Hello!

Firstly, let me mirror the sentiments above: thank you so much for helping to make this game better. I've long believed that, while the franchise is perfectly playable as it is, the Sims has always been made so much better by the participation of talented community members, and I'm so happy that you've shared your work and your skills with the community. <3

Now for the boring stuff: I'm having an issue with the mod that I can't seem to resolve. Whenever I load in, I get an update error that reads: "Checking for updates failed. Mod the Sims could not be reached." I skimmed the comments here and saw no mention of this mistake, so it's entirely possible (probable even) that it's something I did. Any advice on how to fix this?

Hello. I'm having difficulty getting this to work. I keep getting an error saying mod the sims cant be reached, or the program will stop responding. I'm also noticing it is taking a very long time to load

Yeah same here. I have a feeling that it is because of the website change. the update link may be different. But it looks like the versions are the same as it has been.

Hi there! I used this mod for the first time today and it crashed while I was looking for the mod that was breaking my game. But now I can't find the "unloaded" files! Can you direct me please?

I, too, would like to know, and how it works. Also, are all download links needed, or just the newest one?

I'm still getting this message as well. Is this going to be fixed?

Hi, I'm very sorry that you're having issues with the mod manager. Unfortunately I don't have as much free time as of late to work on it, but I will try and look into this soon.

Thanks for your understanding!

Thanks for all that you do!

Yeah, I can confirm that my implementation of update checking isn't working just now. You can disable this popup by unchecking the check for updates box in the settings menu.

Just tried to download, got everything ready, then as soon as I open it half my documents (including my save folder) are highlighted with an error message and I get the;
"Windows Is Defending Your PC,
Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk."

Almost seems like I have a virus now and still never got it to open.

Hi there. Just want to address this real quick. I can wholeheartedly promise you that my application contains absolutely no malicious components whatsoever. I will happily show my source code to any moderators of MTS if they feel like they need proof of that.

What you are seeing is Microsoft's Smartscreen. It shows because the program is not signed with a Microsoft verified certificate which I would have to pay over £100 to obtain. Given that this is a side project that I work on in my spare time for free, that's not really viable for me unfortunately. You can read more about it here: https://www.theregister.com/2020/06...er_smartscreen/

If you click "More info", you should be able to see a button that says 'Run Anyway'. Clicking that will allow you to bypass the message.

I'm not sure what happened with your documents folder being highlighted, but since it seems like Windows blocked you from running my app at all, I don't think it is the culprit here.

Like everyone else, I also get the error: "Checking for updates failed. Mod The Sims could not be reached." I remember when this check used to work, and this is the app checking for updates to the app itself - not to worry as this hasn't been updated since 2019. I figure this error is due to a change on Mod the Sims' end. I can confirm the app still works, to anyone who's asking. You just have to hit OK on that error and all is will afterward.
