I think only Sims 3 allows you to Shift+click on objects while in buy mode.

I thought about how this would work. If there were an interaction to break all breakable objects on the lot, like there is for the lights, I might be able to figure it out, but I don't think there is. Does anyone know where the info is saved that an item is broken, hopefully in the lot file? Maybe I could set it there?

Can terrain paints showing in hood view be disabled?

One more supplementary question about runaway papergirl Eve Marsden in Baldrair Bluffs. I'm sure she doesn't want to go through her whole life being known as the papergirl who ran away from school. So, to help her to move on, I was wondering about just sending her straight to university. I opened up Land Grant University, and looked at the list of teens eligible to go. Eve's name wasn't on the list. I thought that might be just because she ran away, but I can't see Darcie Stowe (the newly generated girl who seems to have take over Eve's paper round) there either. So it looks as if only playable and townie teens appear on the list, but not NPCs. So my question is, to let an NPC teen go to university, do you have to make them playable (or a townie) first?

I'm still wondering if she'll lose the "ran away" icon when she ages up to YA (or indeed Adult).

That's weird, Andrew. I've sent plenty of NPCs to university through the "send teens to college" button, so something's wrong there. Even if running away took Eve off it, her replacement should appear. You may have a larger problem.

SO...2 teens go to college, get engaged, one graduates and moves to hood. The couple miss each other, keep rolling wants to do stuff I don't allow teens and adults to do..So the adult invites his teen fiance over...I REMEMBER doing this before; he should be able to ask her to move in, and she would drop out of college and age up. BUT NOW there is no option to move in. Why?! And what would happen if I moved her in with a mod...I think she would still show as young adult in college..?

Stand up, speak out. Just not to me..

Is she a teen, or a young adult? Young adults are adults. They're exactly the same, they just have slightly different voices. I don't think you can just move in playable YAs back to the neighborhood, because then they would either graduate for free or they wouldn't graduate and you would lose all your progress.

I must have known this at some time and forgotten, or not, but what exactly am I supposed to do about the 21 and 25 broken face templates? I know that argon made a mod to fix them http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/s...pic,9028.0.html and I understand in what way they are broken, but I don't understand the fix. What do I do if I want to fix these myself rather than download hoods where they were already fixed?

Default The continuing story of Eve Marsden, the runaway papergirl from Baldrair Bluffs
Another surprise: I found Eve still delivering papers normally in other parts of the Bluffs. I decided to play another family, in part to see who brought the morning paper. It was Eve. The family I chose to play are John and Justin Brand who live quite near the river with an adopted daughter (still a child) called Alyssa. Justin Brand went out to work before dawn, but John had the day off. So, when the papergirl came, he went out to greet her, and found it was still Eve, and she was her usual friendly self. As soon as he spoke to her, John (Popularity) wanted to be friends with her, so they squatted down on the sidewalk (footpath) and hung out together till after 11 o'clock. Since she has run away from school, Eve was in no hurry to leave. By half past eleven they were friends. John said goodbye to her and went into the house to have a shower. After that he invited her round and started to cook a meal for three, as his husband Justin was arriving home from work. It transpired that Justin and Eve already knew each other and they were soon chatting together. When the meal (grilled cheese sandwiches) was ready, the three of them ate together, and afterwards Eve played kickybag with Justin until she was friends with him too. Now, with her friends with both John and Justin, I moved her in with the Simlogical teleporter and they adopted her. Although now legally their child, she kept her own name Marsden as it's the name everyone knows her as. I understand that, by using the teleporter to move her in, she might still be able to deliver newspapers (though presumably not to John and Justin's house. There is no sign of any "ran away" icon. She 'phoned up her old classmate River Jenkins to tell him what's happened. Miss Erin Leitch is also available as somebody she can call, and they're almost friends. She's considering whether to 'phone her old teacher to tell her that she's safe. At the moment Eve is looking pensively out of the window into the front yard, where her new sister Alyssa (whom she doesn't know yet) is playing with the McLeish children.

Back at the school Miss Leitch reluctantly expelled her for non-attendance. Had she stayed on the school roll (should that be "role"?) she would have slowly lost grades through not doing the class work. Eve has already dropped from C+ to C. At the moment, Eve can 'phone Miss Leitch, but Miss Leitch can't 'phone her. Otherwise things seem more or less back to normal. I just hope Eve doesn't decide to run away again!

Since she is now a playable, Eve is now on the list of teens who can go to Land Grant University -- I've checked. She won't go just yet though. One way or another we'll try to get her grades up a little first. I don't think she'll be going back to Miss Leitch's school though!

You install the fixes in the mod folder and any new sims made with those templates will have unbroken faces. Existing sims with broken faces (including children of the broken) will not be affected.

Fixing an existing sim would involve duplicating their face using the unbroken templates, using sim surgery or the plastic surgery machine to change the face, and then making the changes genetic. This can be difficult with children of broken or broken sims whose base templates have been altered. I've done it but am hazy on the details now - I basically kept at it until I got it right.

Thank you. For this part, do you mean create a new sim (child, for example) with the unbroken one and then use sim surgery to copy that one to the broken one and copy the facial structure resource? Is there any way besides having better facial recognition skills than I do to tell which face the sim is supposed to have?

That's good, turns out she was okay after all! Perhaps the school life wasn't for her. Would she like Uni do you think? They don't necessarily have to study, they could go there just to have fun!

I don't think Eve will be going to Uni to have fun. She has no playful points at all! In fact her personality might best be described as "interesting". Aquarius and Family, she has 2 Neat points, 8 Outgoing points, 7 Active points, 0 Playful points, and 8 Nice points. Her LTW is to have 6 grandchildren. Sorry, Eve; I don't think I'll live long enough to see you achieve that! Her current wants are to be best friends with John Brand (her adoptive dad), to fall in love, to go to Uni, and to gain a skill point. She already has an impressive collection of skill points, especially charisma, logic and creativity. Cooking is where she's weakest, but it's probably the easiest place to gain that skill point. I reckon it's a vital life skill for a Family Sim.

Anybody like to give her career / life advice?

[EDIT] I wonder if there's anything in her personality which might give a clue as to why she ran away. Maybe there was too much frivolity in the school?

Yes. You'll want Alt Sim Surgery so you don't have to have the clone in the same neighborhood, taking up space.

My facial recognition skills are also crap, but when I recreated Amanda Ruben of Drama Acres for a BACC, I cloned her and her mother, a CAS sim, in body shop (the clone retained the broken template; I tested this several times and couldn't fix it without noticeably changing her facial structure and confusing myself trying to get the original face back), and added a fixed clone of her father, Joshua Ruben, to the sim bin of the game setup I was using for the BACC, I then brought all three clones into CAS. With the adult clone of Amanda standing to one side, I rolled the pacifier on Joshua and his wife until i got a teen face that looked roughly like I expected Amanda to look as a teen. (Fortunately for me, the only major feature that changed drastically from teen to adult was her ears - she had a lot of features from her mother.) I accepted that teen and aged her to adult, then compared her to the clone. I don't remember if I had to tweak anything, but when the only way for me to tell them apart was to select one and read the name I'd given them, I was satisfied, deleted everyone but the Final Amanda, and proceeded to select clothes, add her husband, etc. I vaguely remember at some point taking close-up screenshots of the faces and tabbing out of the game to compare these screenshots side by side, so as not to bewilder myself flipping back and forth.

One thing to remember when you're making comparisons - unless you're making something to share, you're the only one who has to accept the fixed copy as accurate, so it only has to be accurate enough to satisfy your own facial recognition skills. Don't stress yourself out trying to achieve a perfection your eyes can't see properly anyway. If you look at a CAS or bodyshop sim at all ages and recognize them all as the intended sim, that's good enough and all you should require of yourself.

Defnitely! If I can't tell the difference, it's good enough! I'm amazed what other people notice, though. Thanks for the instructions. Much clearer now.

OK, writer's block... What kinds of small shops/venues would you expect in the public concourse of a stadium? So far all I've got is a small bar/food stand and a team merch store, and I'm completely drawing a blank on other ideas!

With that combination of Neat and Outgoing points, she might consider changing her aspiration to Popularity at the end of her sophomore year - the game will automatically ask if she wants to change her aspiration at this point, so it's very easy to do. If she does change aspiration, her LTW will also reroll and may give you a better clue as to what she should study and do with her life. I think she might make a good athlete (but she'll probably roll Military because she's sloppy and I swear the game has a sense of humour that way).

The sports centre in my home town had some chess rooms, if I remember correctly, maybe something like those? Some rooms with indoor activities for lazy sims who were dragged out to the stadium by their active friends, so they can maybe read, or watch a movie. Also, a kids' play area to throw the tykes into.

Also, maybe an invasive lil shop or stand that has nothing to do with the stadium. Lots of people go there, so a lil discount clothes/gift stand could take advantage of them, or some recruiters for a pyramid scheme or cult.

She's quite outgoing though so should like most of the social aspect of Uni. It may be best to put her in a dorm instead of a seperate house so that there are sims to socialise with when she likes.

I want to replace my vacation destinations with remodeled versions. Is it safe if I add the new Three Lakes to my existing hood and then delete the Maxis one? I don't have any graves or own lots in the existing vacation hoods.

Frequently sports venues will have a historical area where patrons can browse past histories of star players, team successes, great moments, etc. So maybe some aisles of sports pictures, jerseys, pennants and other related memorabilia would fit.

Hood Deco: I got a "Hood cliff replacement" by Voelle, three choices to replace Maxis cliffs. But he? also had matching "hood terrain paint". But there is no terrain paint for the HOOD...is there?
