I don't recall ever having problems with wallpaper, windows or doors in TS3 either. The thing that will crash my game is mods that conflict which makes sense; hence I stay away from them sans the ones I already have and know they play nice with each other.

Maxis considers TS3 to be the Spawn of Satan of the franchise, so what does all of this say about TS4?

Recent tweets have surfaced from a reliable source regarding what The Sims 4 Remaster could include. User @lunar_britney shared insight that Seasons from The Sims 4 Seasons Expansion are planned to be a part of the new Base Game experience. Also revealing that Memories / Milestones from The Sims 4 Growing Together are planned to be integrated within the Base Game remaster.

I'm not going to lie, the article made my head want to explode. My eye started to twitch after reading "Sims 4 Remaster" one too many times.

So the rumor is Maxis is going to keep TS4, create a updated TS4 and manage Project Nay-Nay all at the same time? Is this the gist of it? Did I miss anything?

Looking at the grand scheme of things, if the sale of EA goes through and they [EA] doesn't find a pot of cash they can tap into, EA isn't going to be able to afford to keep the lights on, never mind running and maintaining 2 TS4 games, Project Rene plus whatever needs to happen server side for TS3, TS2 and TS1.

I wouldn't take this rumor with a pinch of salt, I'd take it with a dump truck of salt. There is way too much stuff up in the air right now.

Tell me not to use wallpaper in a game about BUILDING A HOUSE is literally abhorrent. It blow my mind that Maxis has come this far. House packed with excessive detail is always an exception, but if Maxis stopped using 15 year old PCs as a bench mark, the game would run better.

And that remaster is just repackaging existing content with bells and whistles. Instead of making a new base game, fix the game this exists.

I remember back in the day that one of the reasons TS4 works so bad and so buggy is because of its "spaghetti programing" - bad programing on top of bad programing tangled together. Well, I'm not surprised they want to remaster. Who wants to take the time to untangle spaghetti?

They basically admitted that TS2 works better than TS4!

My TS2 game never lagged when I had more than six mirrors (or a lot of wallpapers) on the lot.

I might be the minority here, but TS2 only ever lagged on large community lots for me.

As for TS2 being better than TS4, well that kind of goes without saying. It was the last title made with the series creator's (Wright) input after all!

The only problem with TS3 is that it's not 64bit. Being locked to 32bit all the while attempting to simulate an entire whole open-world as well as having the create-a-style tool can be a bit too much for the game engine at times. But in terms of gameplay, TS3 is still miles better than TS4 is and ever will be.

Kind of funny because I remember TS3 having a really rough start, but as time went on EA/Sims Studio did enough patching and content adding that the TS3 we all play now is very different from launch version. It's a much more enjoyable experience nowadays. But it seems no matter what Maxis does for TS4, there's seemingly little hope. The core game is just too broken to fix.

So instead of TS5, we're getting a TS4 do-over? What a mess.

Surely the effort to do all this is greater than just cutting their losses and making an entirely new entry? I mean, fair play to their engineers if they can pull off full open-world TS4. It's certainly no easy technical feat to add that to a game that is explicitly not designed for it. But I just don't think its worth it at this point.

I don't get it either although it has nothing to do with a TS5.

It will be same game, with the same spaghetti code and the same people peddling broken DLC as it was being suggested that the remaster would mean buying all new stuff. The same thing applies for a TS5. Things will be okay for awhile, then we'll get to repeat the process that has happened over the past 11 years.

Once bugs and problems start to pop up, people will be told to shut up and don't talk about it because TS5 is now the best game ever, blah, blah, blah. It is exhausting just thinking about it.

Does this mean that if you got this new version of The Sims 4 that all of the content you previously purchased wouldn't work with it?

It's one thing to make a new The Sims game where you have to buy content you previously had in previous games (which is something I don't like to begin with), but to rerelease the same darn game without all of the content you have purchased would be a new low even for EA.

♫ Keeping this here until EA gives us a proper playable woodwind/brass instrument ♫
For now, though, my decorative Bassoon conversion for TS4. =)
