"I did all" means "I did use CFF Explorer (or other similar tool) to set the LAA bit on the proper exe"? (I suppose that for the actual upgrade of CPU that would be a bit too fast ) ?

The game's logs represents what the game is seeing, in modern (relatively) environment it's not very reliable - application simply can understand only what was supposed to and what is defined in its configuration files. There is some nonsense in this log (starting with the CPU clock enumeration), if the GPU is not recognised the loader should default to the 32MB "unknown GPU memory size" solution. Not setting this as 4GB. Does, by accident, your graphics rules config set enforce VRAM size? Try to check what is in these files, you need to edit them anyway to get this NVidia recognised properly.

These 2GB is what the game is seeing as its environment (and no matter how much the actual RAM you have got, it won't see anything above 3.7 GB). That suggest the LAA is not set *or* you have put limitations on the initial RAM quota for the app (or both). It does not means that the game won't ever get the RAM it needs (if it will need, you'd need really throw a STUFF into the downloads to go above 1.5 GB of real RAM consumption), however it means that the system will treat the application very conservaitively (and you will get performance hit).

If you are wondering what will happen when your neighborhood is showing signs of corruption I'll give you some tips to tell how based on old researching

1: Neighborhood will not load or will crash on startup (edit) "Sometimes"(read follow-up post before performing action) ( if this happens then you are better off loading a backup copy of that neighborhood or. a different neighborhood, when that happens, it's dead.

2: (fixable) Adult sim has child asperations like grow up for example. this is fixable by using the "ReNuYuSenso Orb" found under "Asperation Rewards" panel "DEFINITION" Allows the aspiration of a Sim to be changed, also changing their Lifetime Want, and affecting attraction with other Sims.

3: (fixable/preventable) Sims have a squiggly thought bubble above head. (cause) Deleted or removed sim or sim or pet grave stones, "more on that here" >>>>>>> https://modthesims.info/t/536912
Or
4: bad memory (fixable) with BO-NO Trash Memories
http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=2396

NO SIM LOADED

http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/thread-1665.html

NO SELF MET MEMORIES

http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=7042

OR JUST Hoodchecker
https://modthesims.info/d/456523/ho...ry-11-2013.html
Or Hoodcheacker

5: Stuck want slots (I don't know the fix or the cause) (edit) "more on this" >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> https://modthesims.info/t/449487

6: I'll let others add to this list if necessary.

7: Gossip leads to trash memories I read somewhere but BO should take care of that if and when you or they gossip.

PREVENTION: DON'T DELELTE SIMS OR GRAVE STONES OR CHARACTER FILES PERMINIANTLY ON BOTH PETS OR SIMS OR USE THE "IN GAME DELETE BUTTION"

Well, I just had a first instance of the 'SuperHug bug" and I stopped it cold in it's tracks with Chris Hatches' tester. Stopped it and the lot is fine again. I should have cleaned that lot up before I re-used it. Next time I will.

I always wondered what is the SuperHugBug and what is it caused by? as far as I think I know about it, it is a lot bug that can come from downloading lots? can someone please tell me more information about the SuperHugBug? sounds scary from what I read about it previously. People laugh but I know that the SuperHugBug is serious though.

here is more on this including what I believe is a download link ?>>>> https://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=642533

The SHB is caused by not cleaning out references to sims in a previously occupied lot properly. It can lead to all the sims repeatedly hugging one another and it is infurirating because it stops all normal game play. However, unchecked, sims can carry it from lot to lot and that's where it gets really bad.

I used that exact same download (because I didn't have it installed) to cure the problem and it worked in the background to clean it up. You can't ordinarily see it in the logs you run during a game, and you have to be able to read SimPE for the exact instances, which most people do not, including me.

As Chris Hatch himself has stated "Therefore I made an override to identify it with a text notification then remove it in game SuperDuperHugTest.zip (750 Bytes) which will run while the game is paused so it can run in buy/build mode." about the "SHDB Test"

I've installed the mod in my downloads folder, thanks for the heads up @FranH

I hope this can prevent this from happening to my game

This is wrong. There are other reasons why a hood may crash or hang which do not portend neighborhood corruption. One is simply bad CC. Another is an invalidated groups.cache file. Both are fixable and do not require loading a backup copy of the hood.

Squiggly lines in a Sim's thought bubble do not necessarily mean corruption either. That is caused by the game not being able to display the proper thought bubble picture as Jo stated in the link you provided.

Since you recognize that you are not an expert, in your place I would refrain from trying to provide this sort of information which could cause more harm than good in other people's games. Information like this is best left to the people who are experts.

that was in the past, and about 1-2 months ago, I just came back into the community after being gone 7 years about 1-2 months ago, I do not believe anything posted "here" recently is harmful information, please move on. I am not an expert would you refrain from bringing forward something that happened on a different thread?

I never want or meant to give out bad advice but you must understand I never meant to do anyone harm or foul, if something in this thread is leading to someone to do a bad thing to their game please point it out so I can correct it. Please refrain from bringng up a different thread issue on a completely new thread unless I am repeating the same mistake again.

You can disagree that is ok, but you are bringing up something that is nothing to do with this thread at all
(edit)
We are both right, it can be caused by both bad CC, needing to clear catche files Or a corrupt neighborhood. (for example) I used to delete sims until I got into the MTS community 9 years or so ago and never used hoodchecker before that? My neighborhoods would eventually crash and I didn't have CC back then or BO or anything to prevent corruption

According to what I read in the link the squiggly lines also mean sim can't reach path or something, but I was talking about when a sim is talking to another sim and the squiggly line bubble shows up as said it could also mean a deleted or missing sim photo, or missing character file or simply just a fixable corrupt file fixable with hoodchecker, I can't explain anymore

As for corruption avoidance and prevention, I just do the essentials really; have the  nounlinkondelete and nocorruptdeath mods installed, and avoid the VBTs. The most important part, as I believe someone mentioned already, is to not worry about it too much, or it could suck the enjoyment out of the game. If you back up regularly, you should be fine.

Just know, it's okay to be cautious, but don't blow it out of proportion; The Sims 2 has its problems, but it's not a glass house, one stone isn't going to smash it to pieces.

@CrystalFlame360 probally said this better than anyone could have done

(edit)
All my download and neighborhoods are backup up on a flash. Key word here is enjoy your neighborhood while it lasts and keep scanning it with "Hoodchecker" and make sure your also have a 2nd backup for progress in the middle of the life of your hood also

and also back them up from the beginning that way? you'll always have a fresh start when your neighborhood dies eventuall in years or so from now hopefully.
and besides with all the other neighborhoods this game still has endless hours of enjoyment to beheld, just enjoy the game now. I created this discussion so we would have all the issues and solutions linked in one place. Hope this helps

One thing to note with corruption and squiggly lines is most times the lines go the other way. So in the picture shown on the other thread, the squiggles were due to routing issues, whereas corruption squiggles are most times horizontal.

This is also a good idea to patch your game upon installing with the discs here are the Patches for the sims 2 in the link below
https://simsvip.com/sims-games/patches/

From what I read on here the "The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection" digital download, does not need any of these following patches. But if you install The Sims 2 or any expansion with the CD/DVD discs they are a must have.

@Aspersim

There's no need to repeat what is already written in the respective (and updated, unlike some of your infos).topics on the forum. It's also not very productive, you effectivelly are creating a noise (additional topics and posts) which may be confusing for someone looking for the actual help.

I understand the enthusiasm but really - this is an old software and there are people still active, with more knowledge and experience than 10 like you and me combined ready and eager to provide assistance. If you will find something new (whatever it may be), not discussed yet, that would be awesome. Otherwise you are risking rubbing on the wrong side some forum peers with kind of temper

My personal way of handling corruption: if the technical measures fail and I end up with too much corruption, I put it down to a "cyberstorm" in SimHampton - for my Sims, corruption is an extreme weather event like a tornado or flash flooding. As such, SimHampton has mitigating measures to reduce the harmful effects of corruption.. ...er, cyberstorms. This is also my go-to excuse/in-game reasoning for any other technical reason I cannot play Sims.

If my Sims are lucky, a member of the League of Mystics will warn everyone of what is coming, giving them all a chance to shelter in one of the vast underground bunkers that is protected against the cyberstorm. (This is what happens if I am able to solve the problem without having to reinstall or otherwise mess about with the game too much). Sims are sometimes deemed to have got so much notice that they panic-bought bubble blowers and toasting sets (because the SimHampton disaster response is so well-oiled that food security and other essentials are certain, so if one is confident of one's safety, fun is the only major thing the shelter might not be able to provide).

Otherwise, Sims run to the nearest shelter when the storm arrives. The shelter takes care of Sims' main needs, but also freezes time (so illnesses do not progress - SimHampton's main hospital even in regular times is right there in the main shelter for this reason). Borders close at this point (because the last thing anyone needs is for some tourists to wander in and endanger themselves). There are three shelters in SimHampton - one under the Royal Palace, one under the school and one under SimHampton University. Shelters include enough accommodation for at least twice the current population, plus certain extra facilities like education facilities and a big communal space (simply because time is frozen does not mean nothing happens). Some of the best parties in town thus happen while all chaos is loose outside.

Rich Sims occasionally build their own shelter. Some evil Sims are rumoured to have a shelter which they use as a base for further evil, although no court has been convinced of the evidence gathered so far. Silly Sims occasionally decide to stay out in the cyberstorm, for various reasons. This is the in-game Sim equivalent of a Very Bad Thing - possible effects of being out in a cyberstorm include:

  • Age Sims up involuntarily
Remove all aspiration points and change aspiration
    Change Sims' entire personality
Burn out of the ability to perform magic
Change supernatural status in general (werewolf/vampire states most likely to change, though any status can be removed and any except witchcraft and alienism added)
Transfigure Sims can turn into cats or dogs, and cats and dogs can turn into Sims (there are no recorded instances of cats turning into dogs or vice versa)
Cause Sims to forget all family, friendship, love and hate relationships (and when this happens, it is usually mutual)
    Remove or add individual autonomy
Open breaches in cyberspace, letting in Gatecreatures and other monsters (note: SimHampton is an unofficial anarchy during cyberstorms for any Sim not in a shelter)
Destroy property of all types (I guess that's the Big Fireball Visible From Space)
    Reshape the land
    Affect fertility of the land
Cause cybersickness, which can be fatal if untreated
Kill Sims and pets by the following possible means: dessication (aging beyond elder), despair (aspiration sinking so far into the red that it wraps round and causes an explosion), allergic shock (Sim turning into a supernatural state or animal type to which they are allergic; this form of death is not possible outside a cyberstorm), mindwipe (during scrambling of mental states), satellite squish (from satellites being knocked out of orbit), splitting into electrons, electrocution, freezing, burning, hailstorm battering.
Remove all direct evidence of the Sim's demise, so it is difficult or impossible to know which means actually killed the Sim (the previous bullet point is constructed from secondary evidence and extrapolation from non-fatal bad occurrences).

When the cyberstorm is over, a member of the League of Mystics or the local meterological office informs the Sims. Shelters exchange information with each other to determine the whereabouts of each Sim. There is a day of general mourning for who and what was lost, then everyone carries on with their lives. Compensation is paid to those who lost their home, and big cyberstorms get their own holidays of rememberance.
