This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2
Default Problem with official ts2 site
When I was first promted to "enter the registration code on the back of your instruction booklet" I did so then it told me someone else had used my code
first of all the game came plastic wrapped and undammaged I showed it to no one else before opening it but still it told me my code had already been used  :Slap:
has anyone else had this problem or am I the only one?

If I had a chainsaw, all my problems would run the hell away.

Oh, that's terrible! Well, I suggest contacting Maxis and letting them know. I hope they can do something about it.

I haven't had this happen to me but what I would do if it did would be to take it back to the store and exchange it for another copy. Hopefully you saved the receipt. I suppose you could try searching through the EA Games tech support forum, they may have an answer for you there as well. Good Luck!

They did say something about the keygens using some of the same s/n's as legit copies, so if you contact ea, they should issue you a new s/n.

This happens because theres Sims2 serial code generator appys floating around. All real codes are stored on there server for every game released. if you keep entering randomly generated codes from the generator eventualy you wll hit a few real ones and get to redgesture it. theres some hackers out there with dozzens of Sims2 acounts.

You know, Bink13y, it's really sad that these types of things are floating around, but I am not surprised that this happened. It hurts the people that buy the game legitimately. It's very sad, but it happens.

I believe there are links to Maxis and EA tech help on the site.

I think you should be able to return it to the store even if you opened it, as the keygen has been used. Would depend on where you bought it from. From my experience if you speak to a manager they should allow you to exchange. Remember the customer is always right

I dont have my keygen either, my boyfriend decided to throw the whole box with everything in it while cleaning the car, thinking the cd was enough (as it was inside the laptop), I didnt register either. Not too worried about the site as I get most of my information here, but if I need to re-install....

Is this the first time you registered at the site? If you have already created a account, registered, and gotten in to it, and then all of a sudden it tells you that you need to register again, so you do, and then it tells you that the key is already been used... that's because it has.... by YOU. This happened to me once; it was a site problem that they resolved, but maybe it's happening again. :?:

I was soooo annoyed and now there are absolutely no links to contact maxis anywhere it's like they don't even exist aarrrrrggghhhhh! If someone finds a way to contact maxis then I think both of us will be very grateful.

I remember something similar happening with my brother's copy of Star Wars Galaxes, we had to return it and get a new one.
About not being able to take it back after it has been taken out of the wrapper, that is bogus, you have to take the wrapper off to test the product, if it doesn't work see the manager, if you happen to know a lawyer who has a beef with a certain retailer then bring them in, you will need backup unless you are strong willed.
They cannot refuse to return it because the wrapper is off! Explain the situation to them.
p.s. it's good to see a fellow brit

As an old Brit I can assure you that you have a legal right to an exchange, this product is "not fit for the purpose of its purchuse" (sorry about spelling, beer goggles its Friday night and I'm unwinding somewhat )

You have the right to exchange this copy for a full working one or a full refund. I know its hard to prove that this game has been 'hacked' as such, but all the manager needs to do is load it and attempt to register it...and bingo!

I really hope you get this sorted out, buy the way tell us the name of the store, it will not do them any favours and it might help in the long run...good luck
