HugeLunatic, I have found a pricing issue with the open Chic Stairs - it may affect the others in the set too; I haven't checked them all.
When placed in a new house, the lot value increases at midnight, instead of depreciating. The Shinto stairs (where I commented already) are much worse in increased value, so it was only when investigating the price hike with those that I discovered that the Chic stairs have a similar issue.
As well as increasing the lot value, when demolished after midnight, the Chic stairs gave my household a $4000 profit, whereas the EA stairs cost the same to place as to demolish, even after midnight.
Happy to give any further information you need. I love your stairs, so I hope the pricing issues can be fixed easily.

Edit - I have just tried your open Steadfast stairs, downloaded from Sims2Artists - they do not seem to share the pricing issues. Yay!
