Default Regency-Victorian ROS by Vllygrl
I have been asked many times for my historical version of a Random Occurrence Scenario, so I finally decided to post it as a companion to my By George! Play Style Guide/Challenge.

Regency — Victorian Times ROS
RANDOM OCCURRENCE SCENARIOS
for use with
The By George! Challenge, The Victorian Population Challenge,
and other similar era challenges
~As Adapted by Vllygrl~

For those who play The By George! Regency Play Style/Challenge, or The Victorian Population Challenge by Sebrina01, or other historical challenges, I have created an adapted version of the ROS originally created by Staysee, and Jade Eliott. Changes I made to various sections of the original document were made to reflect the social mores and culture of late Regency through Victorian times, and include most notably my new addition of Section #4 Social Standing, which was of course, of paramount importance in Regency - Victorian times and is pivotal to challenge game play. Some of these scenarios mention various hacks and mods, most of which are listed below. Many people do not like to use hacks or mods, however they are not necessarily required; a little manipulating of actual gameplay or judicious use of Boolprop can often accomplish your goal. Caution: deleting sims who have been played in game, or EA-made families or occupied lots from the Sim Bin can cause your game to implode!!! With all due respect and full and grateful credit to Staysee and Jade Eliott (of The Isle of Thyme fame - her blog is now closed), here you go:

This is a fun tool to spice up your game play. Below are ten categories full of unexpected scenarios that you can play out with your Sim! Read on to find out how to use the ROS.

Using Dice:
Parentheses (d) represent the sides of the dice: 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 20 and 100. For dice use http://www.wizards.com/dnd/dice/dice.htm
(You can use the Dice Roller online or download it to your computer. If you wish, you can adapt by using a pair of normal dice instead, or find a 12-20 sided die.) There is also one important line on the Dice Roller, the "custom" or enter whatever number you wish - the last line.

To roll a dice with a custom number, use the last line in the list on the dice roller. In the first box, enter the number you wish to roll. Ignore the second box, it designates how many # of dice you wish to roll. Then hit "Roll". Example:

There are 10 categories below, so click "Roll" on the (d10) line. I got a 1. That is the first section, Financial. There are 16 items in the Financial section. So enter 16 in the first box on the bottom line of the Dice Roller. Click "Roll". I got 8. So my ROS would be: "String of Burglaries". I would then follow the directions to play out that scenario.

Another example: I clicked "Roll" on the (d10) line. I got 9 - the Miscellaneous section. There are 13 entries in the Miscellaneous section. So I enter 13 in the first box on the bottom line of the Dice Roller and get 7. That ROS is "Inner Peace", so I would act that out with the Sim of my choice on the lot I am currently playing.

How to add/subtract funds: Use the familyfunds cheat, there are directions in the Note section below. If the payout listed is (d100) x 10, then you roll (d100) and get say, 89. Then multiply that number by 10 = 890. So you would use the familyfunds cheat to add 890 Simoleons to your Sim's family funds.

You can choose any relevant Sim in the household on which to apply the ROS.

If you roll something that requires an expansion pack you do not have, just roll again. Sometimes the best game play and storytelling comes out of the unexpected…Playing out these scenarios is fun, but the real fun comes in thinking of a story to explain WHY your Sim is suddenly taking that path. So make sure to make up a good story to flesh out your game play!

Have the teen fight with parents a few times then move them out to another lot, or use SimPE or The Sims Blender to adjust BOTH LT and Daily rel. to less than -20. 4. Gretna Green Wedding - Pick Sim with highest LT rel., invite them over and marry them on the spot. Pick a Sim on the lot who is not married already or reroll if no single Sims in the household. Use SimPE, The Sims Blender, or ACR to carry out this scenario.
5. Broken Betrothal - (Or, "It's not you, it's me. I just don't want a commitment.") Engaged Sim gets unceremoniously dumped. Make sure the OTHER Sim -- the fiancé of your Sim -- does the dumping. Use Squinge's Easier Breakup mod or make them fight until the option is there.
6. Abandonment - (Or, "Frankly, it really is you. I’m outta here.") Same scenario as above, but for married couples -- your Sim does the dirty deed of dumping his/her spouse. Use Squinge's Easier Breakup mod or make them fight until the option is there.

3) Sim is apprehended by the police and sent to jail for life.

Create Sims in CAS to be murdered if you do not wish to use your other playables or NPCs. You may roll to see which way each Sim is murdered using the Death section, below.
You may also roll to choose which way your Sim is put to death if #6 is rolled. If you are particularly sadistic, use WinterMuteai1’s Electric Chair to carry out the death sentence. Either put Sim in Sim Bin or create a jail using Simlogical's jail system and move Sim there for duration.

7. DISASTER
# OCCURRENCE ROLL/PRIZE/PENALTY NOTES
1. Fire! Place (d12) intense fires on lot. Use Carrigon's Intense Fire Hack and Sir Ignitus Blowtorch's Buyable Fire. Whoosh! Big flames!
2. Flood! Place at least 10 sinks in locked room and break them. Do not allow them to be fixed for 24 hours. All rugs and furniture that touches the floor must be replaced. Sell sinks back after flooding is done. Use Boolprop (shift-click on the object) to break it.
3. Tornado/Tsunami! House is demolished. Sim must call taxi and move out with all household members immediately. Then in neighborhood view you must use the "bulldozer" tool from the lots and houses bin to demolish the lot. Then either put an EMPTY lot down in the same place and move Sims into rebuild or move Sims into another house if they can afford it. May save (d6) items in inventory. Add to funds: (d100) x 100 as an insurance settlement for rebuilding.
4. Burglar - One time only. Use Simsky's Burglar Scheduler Painting.

9. War! Move at least 12 of your adult male Sims of various households, to the Sim bin for (d12) days, to bravely fight the invaders. Continue your normal rotations; sadly, your families will have to do without your breadwinner’s wages until peace is declared!
10. Kidnapped! Child/teen/adult relative taken to another lot and killed (Choose a method from the death list below.). Your Sim must pay to resurrect. Further the story by picking the kidnappers from your playable Sims and killing the kidnapped Sim on their lot. If you choose to have another playable be the kidnapper, then once Sim has paid for resurrection, roll (d4) to pick an outcome:
1) Vigilante Justice: Your Sim invites Kidnapper(s) over and tries to poison them.
2) Kidnapper(s) caught and sent to jail for (d6) days.
3) Kidnappers escape by moving to another town (move to another subhood).
4) Your Sim blackmails the Kidnapper to not report him/her to the police and is paid (d100) x 1000 for (d6) days. If the Kidnapper does not have all the funds, then s/he is thrown in jail for the maximum sentence of 6 days. I choose to have the Sim be killed (only momentarily) so that the Sim's family would react with grief. In the interest of role play, this seemed to be the best route. If you can't stand that, then just move the kidnapped Sim to another lot.

14. The Fight of the Century — Prize Fight! This scenario involves two different lots. Pick one Sim from each lot that have about the same amount of body skill. Have each Sim work out as much as they can for the next 24 hours. (They may tend to needs and go to work.) Then invite one Sim to the other Sim's house and have them fight (5) fights. They must keep fighting until the fights are complete regardless of their needs, so make sure they are fresh before starting. The one who wins the most fights is awarded a (d100) x 100 cash prize. If Bladder or Energy fail during the fight, it is an automatic loss. Then loser goes home in abject shame, the wimp. Use Pescado's "The Fight Club" mod to make the fight more realistic and last a bit longer. If you do not wish to have two of your playables really furious at each other because of the fighting, you may make two new Sims in CAS for the purpose of this scenario. The winner can use his/her prize money to get a head start on life. EXTRA CREDIT if you actually build a ring for them to fight in and invite as many Sims as your computer can handle to watch.
