kind of sad/funny how broiled people are getting and how many nerves are being hit let's take some chill pills and repress the memories all over again.

I can't wait to download this into my game, however, my question is this: what happens if the Supporter has insufficient family funds? Is the amount applied to back dated child support?

version 3.0 & 3.a both (i believe 3.0 has it) changed the way it was paid out so that if the family has insufficient funds, it "builds up" and the repo man will come after it doesn't get paid for a while. i haven't had the problem yet, but if you read the first post it will talk about this.

um...this mod is for all versions of the game as far as i know. have you actually tried it to see if it works without OFB? i mean, i personally cannot test it unless i uninstall OFB first.

is there anyone who has installed this mod that does not have OFB?

Eh... I don't think it's really meant to 'teach' anything... but just so you know, you could have the child move in with the father instead. So it isn't always the 'male' whose life is ruined and it doesn't have to seem like the women are purposefully ruining men's lives by intentionally getting knocked up.

I agree, Thus the reason for saying "Many" and not ALL
The base amount should be closer to 25 a day mail runs every 7 days, a new bill... and that's still more than the amount of bills for a familly that's been there a while. (116 a week) and that's relativelly nice items.

In my upbringing the men of the family were always the breadwinners and the women stayed home and took care of the children and the home. until last month i did that myself for the last decade. so that is why my families always end up with the mom taking the children and not having a job. lots of my sim families are this way. dad works, mom does not.

I am a father, I have an ingronial Hernia that has reruptured, and in a dangerous possission preventing me from being able to work any kind of physical possissions, However I do raise my daughter and her 2 brothers, and have been doing this for the past 5-6 years while thier mother works, Who in fact would litterally go stirr crazy if she didn't work. So to passify her I have turned down a couple of desk jobs and stayed home. And I have learned that taking care of children is a full time job per child. It takes a while, but you can get used to it. I know, I did :P

Monique, thank you for the info for changing the pay rate. The amount of child support should NOT be the only income for the familly, and should hardly cover the cost of the bills for 2 children, as in real life, unless the payer is making good money.
I do have a couple of fluzies in my towns that would continue to get pregnant then live off the income... and make thier teens take care of the new children... I also have dedicated familly members, Those with the familly asperation should always remain faithful when being played.

With the abillity to modify the amount to a more reasonable amount, child support in my game will become that mutch more interesting, As long as the child is NOT starving all will be good...

New Questions have arised...
If you loose your child to the social worker, Do you still have to pay child support?
If your child is adobted after being taken, will you still have to pay child support?

(If so I must protest cause once this occours, the child will not grow up till after they get adobted, and there is no gurantee how long till this will happen cause there is NO forced ages of NPCs) If I am not mistaken tho, I think version 3 is for this... (The abillity to disable childsupport)

Let the light shine through.

Cool... They got the pets added...
Now all they have to do is add the Farms in Sims 2.

thank you for this mod, I have been using your computer for banking as a means of paying support to the mothers of my roaming male sims, lol. It works great in my game and I am enjoying the way things are going in my town. Poor Herb Oldie has to go to work now.

that would probably be why. who knows. when my mother got injured at work when i was 16 years old, i got a check every month until i was 18 and why, who knows, i guess because of the trama i went through cause that same week our home burned to the ground as well and my grandmother died. I guess you could say that is a lot of trama for a 16 & 14 year old.

i haven't found anything wrong with this mod yet. it appears to be working fine for me so far.

by the time i'm old enough to be eligable & to receive ssi it won't be there anymore. all the money that we younger folks are paying into ssi won't be there for us when it's our time. and i'll tell you, they get tons of money from me and my husband and others i know that work. it's really all a bunch of bulls**t in my opinion.

When downloads are back online I will definately get this. Too bad there isn't a mod for real life. My husband would love to have had one for his ex wife who owes him over $24000 in back support. Talk about a dead beat.

Hi all, I need to ask a question to all in this forum. I love this mod and have tried it in all my households with single parents, even pollination tech is paying child support. lol The problem is in Brandi Broke's house, her three sons by Skip (deceased) only received one payment and that was all. I havent seen another payment box come up. The children have child support on and I downloaded the 03.A version. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this? Other than that I am happy with the mod. I was trying to get Brandi some money from other sources than her son Dustin. No one in town is winning from the lottery, but Dina and she is getting support from Mortimer.

My problem was when the teens went off to college, suddenly both mom and dad each paid the kid 200 bucks. Well, now that I think about it, don't most college kids call home for more money? So, I guess it works ok!

I came here to report an error message that I got concerning this mod. I guess I have the original release because I don't have any version numbers on it. I see OFB required, but the posts seem to have the consenus that it's still compatible with just Uni and nightlife.

All 3 of these error logs occured at the same time. The YAF is pregnant and decided to marry the Adult father, whom she was collecting child support from. The marriage occured on a Uni residential lot via the pie menu, not the wedding arch. Inteenimator installed to allow University families. The error messages popped up the instant the wedding was completed, during the move the guy into the family sequence.

I'm trying to figure out if I should be using one of the other posted versions.

Heh. Mouse, my sperm donor was snagged when I was 15. He contested paternity, until the day of the blood test. I recall seeing him walk onto the crowded Detroit Family Services floor, looking at me, looking at my mom and saying "Well, that was a waste of money." (BTW, I look like a shorter version of my father with hips and boobs.)
For a moment, I didn't know if it was him, but as soon as I understood exactly what he meant, my inner dialogue let loose with "Booyah! Mothaf*cka!" and outside, I think I gave him a smirk for good measure, because he'd had many opportunities to see my sister and I, but never showed.
He was actually jailed for 60 days and had his wages garnished for a total of 16 and 15 years back support for my sister and I, respectively (mom was preggers for me at the time of their divorce, and sis was a toddler). So Mouse, though it seems remote, today, chances are good that one day the ODJFS will make him squirm.
And even if they never do catch him, he will have still missed out on a huge and wonderful part of his life, You.
Even though I didn't recognize him by sight, until I was 15, I kept the door open and sent him school pictures, a ticket to my graduation commencement, invited him to my wedding and even informed him of the birth of his only grandchild. For some reason, I feel better about it, knowing that the door is open.
Monique, wonderful touch of realism. Kudos! Five stars, from this simmer.

Question:
Does it work if the child was parented by an underage sim?

Same here... my sperm donor always though of my half sister's as his own and wanted to keep in touch with them... but not me supposedly because I was born 2 months early, even if it is obvious that I'm related. I look nothing like my mother and my sisters...

I don't get why so many Simmers hate Marsha Bruenig. She actually grows up to be quite pretty if you allow her to.

I have been having some strangeness concerning pregnancies and university families which stopped when I removed this mod.

Specifically, see post #93 for error log when sims marry. Also, something weird is going on with the pregnancy controller. From time to time I get a message about something undefined in pregnancy...I know I should have made a note of it, but did not.

I have at least 3 items that report on the state of a sim's pregnancy, and until now it didn't matter which one I used, they would be in sync. The tools are insim, DMA teleport controller, and something else, I forget. But when a pregnant sim moves from one lot to another, even from university neighborhood to the regular neighborhood or vice versa, the pregnancy is out of sync. One controller will report 50 hours pregnant while another will report 1158 hours pregnant. I thought the controller reporting 50 hours must be the correct one, but then she gave birth at 50 hours instead of at 75.

Another sim was pregnant with one child, yet one of the controllers was still reporting that she was pregnant with twins which she had already given birth to. The pregnancies that are affected with this strangeness are all pregnancies that started out with an unwed mother, so this mod had kicked in and started with child support.

In one case where the mother later married the father, he kept getting reports of supporting his original child plus the other children that they gave birth to after the marriage. Seems strange that he would pay child support on the children that are in the same home as him. (Or is it set up that way, since the money would be taken out of and then put back into the same household?)

This is a great mod, but I think some tweaking is needed. Perhaps the problem comes in with University families which requires Inteen to work, since Uni families were never a part of the original game.

I pulled the mod and all the pregnant sims seem to have straightened themselves out. The pregnancy reporting items are back in sync and reporting the correct pregnancies.

Running: Sims2, Uni, NL, OFB, Pets, Seasons, BV, FT & AL. Patched.

i believe that this is because it was fixed in version 2 this was fixed and the dead no longer have to pay child support. As a matter of fact here's what was said:

Because RealHogsFan said "paying after they die is like receiving a check from SSI until you are an adult for the death of your parents".

UPDATED: v2.0
- Fixed Dead sim issue which was reported by Ancient Sim.
- Inserted "Sim A has met Sim B?" suggested by Syberspunk. Supporter will no longer give support to a dependent that s/he has never met.

I was wondering if we could get the sim police involved with this mod on two levels.

A. if the back support reaches over $5,000, then have a notice come in stating for the delinquent payer pay support or risk arrest and possible recovery of complaint amount through wage attachment (all family funds available) or reposession of goods totalling amount owed. Then wait a week, if not paid, send the officer out to collect the amount - if no money ... then the payor switches outfits to the criminals and is escorted out (give option to fight too, they will never win of course, but it will be an additional $1000 sim penalty for resisting arrest!) . After they leave, have the repo man come. Then return the criminal home. He can stay in the criminal clothes.

B. - THIS WOULD REQUIRE A WHOLE NEW MOD!!! Have anyone who has ever had the police come get a relationship and influence penalty or award for it. For example, most teens think getting arrested enhances sociable dealings ... so when a teen sneaks out and is caught, have their reputation go up as a result. Same for adults who are in the criminal career - if they encounter someone who was arrested or dealt with by police, they may see something wicked in them that they like. Difference would be everyone else. Drop 75 relationship points for friends and family who would NOT approve. Also make it a chance to get a job, not an instant approval. In OFB, somehow highlight ex-cons so that potential business owners know who they are hiring. Call this the EX-CON mod, if I had the ability to program - I would do it. Point being is this would work well with A) above, as deadbeat moms and dads are not looked well upon by society. Which is a good thing, of course.
