its ok now - i used the sims 2 package installer instead of the Clean Installer and and it worked its now showing up in the lot and houses bin

Yes, though I'd recommend 7-zip since it can unpackage any file type. Just download it to your Documents and use your program then send the lot to the downloads folder in sims 2. (My Docs>EA Games>Sims 2>Downloads) You might have to create a downloads folder if you haven't downloaded content before. Since it is a lot you'll have to go to the folder and double click on it to install it to the game but then it will work perfectly.

BTW, architect of the future, I think you've got to be a real architect because these are freakin' awesome!
