Default How do you create animations in Blender?
I know how to do poses but I want to start creating animations but I'm having a hard time finding tutorials that go with Blender.

The tool for making anything for Sims 3 animation using Blender was made by A and can be found at Simlogical here:

http://www.den.simlogical.com/denfo...php?topic=862.0

I wrote some tutorials for using this tool and posted them at Simlogical here:

http://www.den.simlogical.com/denfo....php?board=48.0

Blender Cookie has a nice intro to animation here:

http://cgcookie.com/blender/2010/08...o-to-animation/

principles discussed in this tutorial will work with the s3 rigs.

Thank you! I loved those tutorials especially when I was just learning how to create poses - really helpful. (:

I just have one last question, though. For the rigs, do I just open the rigs as I would normally open them when I'm to do a pose or is there a different way?

You open the rig the same way. A pose is just a single frame animation. A sequence animation is made using the same basic steps the difference being that you have more than one frame when you're done.

I would suggest downloading A's ClipTool for making Sim3 poses and animations using Blender. The tool has been moved to a new home here:

http://s3py.wordpress.com/

I wrote a beginner's pose tutorial for that which will allow you to become comfortable with the basics of how things work. That is located here:

http://s3py.wordpress.com/tutorials...teposetutorial/

Once you have a single frame animation down (ie. a pose) you can read more on making longer animations at Blender Cookie here:

http://cgcookie.com/blender/2010/08...o-to-animation/

That same site has more advanced animation tutorials also if the intro isn't sufficient.

I am trying to create an animation again - er attempting. I can't delete a keyframe because blender won't let me! I've tried using the ALT + i and L key as well as the x key but it's not working! I also can't seem to figure out how to move a keyframe all of which I found out in the comments of the video!

I think you need to be in pose mode to manipulate the keyframes. It's easy to switch into object mode without knowing it, if you're a beginner like me.

ETA: You also have to have all bones selected when you try to set a keyframe. It only puts the selected bones in the keyframe.

Puh. Okay. I thought you just had to be in 3d mod or whatever the other one is called... Eh. I'll try it out.

Okay so I went back into Blender and I'm not able to delete the keyframe or move it. :l I went back to the video link but I'm still confused. "adjust individual keyframes from the DopeSheet editor."

Felquish, do you have all bones selected when you try to set the keyframe? They all have to be selected, because only the selected bones are put in the keyframe.

Hi, I was having heaps of trouble deleting keyframes in Blender too, but this is how you do it (very easy method):

To delete a keyframe
1. Highlight the keyframe on the timeline (and make sure all joints are selected with the 'a' button)
2. Just below the timeline (next to the record button) choose 'LocRot' from the options.

3. Then, press that little button that looks like a key with a red diagonal line across. This will delete the keyframe

Hope this helps I'm still a newbie at blender but I'm trying to learn what I can.
