This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default How to Determine Which Device Number my Graphics Card is Associated With
So I've been wanting to play The Sims 2 on my new computer, but any changes made to the graphics of the game via editing things from without the game causes it to show an error of not being able to run it because I don't have DirectX 9, which I understand is an outdated system of a computer. So naturally, I found some guides which answered my questions well, except a link given by PleasantSims which she gave in the circumstance of receiving the exact message I received has instructions that are unclear. Here is the link to that site: http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=6881 For reference, my configuration log in my EA games folder is missing the documentation of the device type, and am thus unable to decipher which of those sgr files I should download. For another reference, I've posted my log folder below, which will hopefully reveal the corresponding device which the sgr filed goes with. Thanks in advance for any help, and I do understand if this is a bit off topic or if I'm asking the wrong people!

It isn't listed in your config log, unless I missed it. There's a line about the graphics rules maker in the spot where it would usually be. Anyway, have you tried running the game in windowed mode? That fixed the directx9c error for a lot of people.

Unfortunately, running it in windowed mode did not work. Thank you for your answer though!

You can try making the GraphicRules file instead. This program does most of the job for you, and also fixes the VideoCards file: https://www.simsnetwork.com/tools/graphics-rules-maker

I second using windowed mode for the DirectX issue, but you need to get the GraphicRules file working first, as that's where the game pulls information from. The VideoCards file is mostly to make the card show up properly in the log file.

And what exactly do you mean by windowed mode not working? Did you still get the DirectX message, did you get a tiny window, didn't you get windowed mode to work at all, or something else? Could help in figuring out what's going on.

Okay, I tried your method, and it worked! Thank you so much. I recommend this software over any other method any day.
