So, there's this problem I have, where if I move a household into the sim bin, then into a new lot, sometimes, their aspiration levels (plat, gold...) reset. Is there a way to fix this, or will I just have to deal with it?

I'm sure google has an answer to this and I just typed in my search wrong,

but it's totally okay to move a lot around the neighborhood using the hand tool, even if a sim lives there, right?
I know putting them into the bin is a VBT but I just want to move them down a bit on the street so I can fit a community lot there.

Yes, moving the lot is fine, as long as you don't put it in the bin.

Some quick questions about university:

1) Am I right in thinking that you can't have owned businesses on a university campus? If so, are there any mods to get round the limitation?

2) I think I've heard that you can't get married while at university. This seems a big limitation. Even my parents got married as students! It also seems odd, as, with very little bother, I've got married teens in my game. Andrew and Julian are now a (gay) married couple, and intend to go to to uni together as such. I hope they don't run into any difficulties. Surely somebody must have written a mod to let YAs marry?

3) In Land Grant University, there are three dorms (Dorm 1, Dorm 3 and the Compound Dorm) currently running, and almost all of Peni's dormies have a room in one of them. I now intend to move two teens into Dorm 2, which has 9 bedrooms. This means that the game will have to add some new dormies. Can I just check that these will be freshly generated ones, and that the game won't try to get SSU dormies out of the SSU template in Program Files?

I feel like I've had a lot of questions lately but alas, I have another. Why am I so bad at Googling (that's not the question)

I like playing in window'd mode. When I launch the game, the top of the window (the part where it says The Sims 2 Mansion & Garden and has the X and all that) is hidden and I can just see a bit of my desktop around the bottom. But whenever I take a break to watch Hulu with my mom & we use my laptop, when I go back to play the window is visible and the bottom of the game is cut off so I can hardly click on stuff and two of the needs are cut off. I can't drag the window up, that doesn't work.

Is there a way to make it go back to hidden without having to turn it off & back on? I've restarted it this time, but it's annoying that it does this so if there's a way to without restarting I wanna know that.

I am only aware of inteen doing this, which I stopped using years ago because it conflicts with so much other stuff. I don't mind my YAs not being able to marry so I've never looked for or heard of another mod that focuses on just this feature.

1) Yes. University lots simply don't show up as options, even when attempting to buy property from a University residential lot, in the same way that they don't appear as options to visit when someone not in University goes to a community lot. I don't know of any mods to get around it. Presumably the issue is that non-YAs don't get to visit University lots without an active YA escort, so someone who owned a university lot while on campus would have no way to manage it once graduated. I don't know of any mod for either of these things, and presume that there'd be much less demand for College in the Neighborhood mods, if such a mod were available. There is, however, nothing to stop a University student from owning and operating an off-campus business.

3)Yes, they will be newly generated; or you can make the number you expect to need in CAS and turn them into townies before moving the new student in. I have thought of a lot of good names I should've used, since making LGU: Ivy League, Alma Mater, Yale Locke, Oxford Shoe...just in case you need inspiration.

I have never understood windowed mode? I just play in full screen.
When I need to get out of the game for a minute or two (like to google a cheat code, or turn on my Fraps so I can take pictures, or check if everything I wanted to package in the lot packaged properly *sigh*) I just hit the 'window icon' button. (I'm on a shiny new lappy now.) Or, on my old desktop I hit Alt+Tab.
The game moves to the task-bar at the bottom of my screen.
When I'm ready to go back in game, I just click on it and it opens. (There is about a 20 second sims-blue colored screen before the game resumes... while it figures out what it was doing I guess? LOL!)

I'm not the disagreer, but full screen mode isn't even an option on some modern setups.

Better stick to my setup then - I am a full screen player too, just using the windows button.

That's great, but I did say "some" for a reason. My laptop, which is also modern, throws a Directx9 error in full screen mode. And my point in saying that wasn't to disagree with you, but to note that for some situations, it's windowed mode or no game at all.

Ok, so my Vacation hoods never got the vacation locals because I got the clean versions. I do have notownieregen to stop my game from throwing townies at me left right and center but I actually do need the vacation locals to make the places more alive and learn the special gestures etc. I don't make my own Sims so I'd rather the game make them for me. If I take out notownieregen before I send a sim on vacation, will it spawn just them or will it spawn a bunch of random townies that I'm not ready for as well? Thankfully I do have tourists so the lots aren't empty and my Sims can meet others but it'd be nice to see the locals doing their dances and gestures. Thanks!

I have examined your file every way I know how, comparing it to a vanilla clone, and I cannot figure out what the substantive change is. Could you give me another hint, please? What's the difference in the cres and slots?

Yeah, except that I track everything in my spreadsheet and I tend to twitter at the same time (to harass all my friends who don't care about what's going on in my sims game) so if I was to play in full screen I'd be minimizing the game A LOT, I eventually just decided windowed mode was the best way for me. If I only did it once or twice per play it'd not matter but the amount of times I do it would just get plain annoying if I were in full screen.

Hmm, maybe if there's no solution I'll have to just actually turn the game off when my mom wants to watch Love Island I'm sure it has something to do with either casting it to the tv or watching Hulu in full screen - that then the sims window gets messed up. Dunno.

EDIT: Well it's probably not the best solution but it's a solution: but changing it to a smaller resolution and then back to the 1920x1080 hides the border again. I tried the borderless full screen thing I saw from dreadpirate but that still involves having to click the start/windows key to make the taskbar appear. I like being able to just slide onto it.

My laptop came with a 4K screen, went absolutely batbonkers insane when I tried to open TS2 for the first time, and I got a DirectX message for the first time ever (before I poked and prodded GraphicRules, mind). After a lot of poking and prodding I gave up fullscreen (honestly I wasn't intending on keeping it anyway - I've played windowed since my second computer, possibly the first one, because the screenshot program I use hates fullscreen mode), and set my game and screen resolution to roughly the same and set the game to windowed. That fixed the flashy-screen and the screen icons going big and all kinds of weirdness (usually caused by the screen resolution not matching between the screen and fullscreen program/game).

I recently tried opening TS4 (after a one year break) and for whatever reason it had switched to fullscreen, so the screen went all kinds of mad again (never bothered with GraphicRules there...). Fortunately that one has a "windowed fullscreen" option, so I didn't have to do much else than that to tick that option (and weirdly enough, that seems to have calmed down the jet engine issue a bit, because now my laptop doesn't heat up as much as it used to, as long as I shut down the Origin window when it pops up in the background, that is).

Huh... mine's a 4K too - never had any problems? :shrug:

A college question. Playing a college with its own Frat house, I started another one. But the members of the 1st house can't be asked to pledge the second house. Ok, so make them NOT members... but other than having them move out, is there a way to "give up" the Greek house charter; that is, make it stop being a greek house?

Yeah, it's an option on the phone, I believe. The Greek house also gets dissolved if you move every out.

Couldn't find option on phone or computer...but will look more.

The charter is tied to the lot. Destroy the lot, destroy the Greek. Alternatively, just move the member you want out. I've done this once and didn't bother to check whether they still counted as pledged, but that's what experimentation is for.

Thanks Peni; and that's why they were still "not plegable" after I moved the bunch of morons out of the Frat house...and into the vacant sorority house..maybe IT still counted as a Greek house because there were 2 grave stones of girls that lived there. Yes, experimenting; 2 guys had option to "move to Greek house" when they lived at a regular dorm..maybe they had spent lots of time in the frat house, and HAD pledged. But if agreed to "move to Greek house", nothing happened. Guys in NEW frat house could invite them over, and moved in with a mod. And then got message that frat house had gained points, like it DID see the new members as regular frat brothers.

Is there a setting that can turn off the video capture forever and ever, or change the keystroke for it that I keep hitting accidentally?

If you select move to greek house it just puts them in the bin so then you can move them to greek house.

Why does it matter if a package file is in Downloads or SavedSims?
I was led to believe it doesn't matter but it does. If it doesn't show up in the game and I move it to either Downloads or SavedSims, it can show up.
