Why are there geologist type positions in a Geography career track? (IE Volcanoes, Farm Soil, etc.)

Geologists and geographists (geographers ?) are from the "same" world, it's about Geo, Gaïa, the Earth. Yes it's a big subject with a great terrain but... I like this career. Thank you General Fondue.
