Solace In Sound's Writing Mod

by SolaceInSound Posted 9th Jul 2009 at 10:29 PM - Updated 25th Jul 2009 at 3:16 PM by SolaceInSound : forgot to mention that it also changes books required for specialist from 5 to 3. Also added a more refined version of the mod which includes royalties for life and doesn't switch specialist from 5to3

Suh-weeeet! Is it Awesomemod compatible?

Even when we're apart I can feel you next to me. There's a hidden love connecting us like voices on a string.

Great mod Thanks a bunch!

Is there a chance you'd might break the mod up into pieces so that we can mix'n'match?

If I do not congratulate you on your birthday or any other special occasion, then I may not know you?

I'm good at what I do but I suck at actually doing it :P

Mmm
You know what?
One of my sims was a writer, he was making 80k a week on royalties.
And then he died, and the money stopped coming.
Is there a way to make the royalties pay out their duration, even after death?

Because that's a mod I could really sink my teeth into!

Great mod. Thanks.
I don't like when mods make things too easy, but the EAxis original game bonuses always seem unnoticeable.
Thanks, again.

I'm using joshiejack's "writing more fun" mod which doesn't affect writing speed or anything else modified by your mod. Do you know if they're incompatible?

No, because mine is the exact same thing as this one with two exceptions:

Only the writing is boosted to make novel writing faster without a royalty gain boost. And one additional feature to enable at least most genres to be unlocked without skill requirements to write.

That's it.

Is this compatible with the 'Writing is fun' mod?

I've been trying this in-game, and I love it. It really makes the writing career much better for me, personally, to play with my sims. Thanks so much for sharing this!

Just a note, it seems this is compatible with writing is fun. I'm using both and no errors. I think the writing is faster, I'm not really 100% sure.

Oh, one BIG THING. You changed the amount of books needed for Specialist from 5 to 3, without adding that in the description. This is actually kind of annoying, especially if you want to specialize in Masterpieces. And it means you can't ever specialize in Satire or Fantasy or Vaudville.

Yipes!
Sorry about that.. when i was making the mod i actually lost my list of stuff i changed and must have left that out by mistake.

Thanks for the catch, ill change the text now

In addition to changing the text, i have uploaded a newer version of the mod which gives royalties 10,000 times so that you get royalties for life (as one should.) It also DOES NOT change the number of books required to become a specialist from 5 to 3.

Yes, both of these are, in fact, working. None of the values you mentioned above, however, have been changed I think (I made the mod quite a while ago so you'll have to excuse me if any of those values were changed though I don't think they have been.)

I don't think it does work with 1.8.? I can practice my writing but I can't actually write any book! :-( I've used this mod for a long time with the game but it doesn't seem to be working any more.

P.S. I skipped right from 1.4.6 to the newest 1.8.x

very noob question here:
my mods, this one included, are all in the original Sims 3\Mods\Packages directory, even tho i have WA. I do get the 10,000 royalties and other CC do work, but at times i dont think the speedwriting bonuses work at all, it takes like 30-35 hours straight to write a master piece. is this normal or would moving my mods to the WA folder be better?
