Default Custom sounds
So I have an animation and I want to add a sound effect to this animation. Sims 3 sounds seem to be snr and audtun. Couldn't find any software to open these. How should I go about making my own sound effect play in sims 3? Is that even possible?

I was able to do it for the subway train in Boroughsburg but that was ages ago, I think @Wotjek and @Nitromon had a process outlined:

with this tool you can extract and add Sounds and Songs from/to the game. It will sure help you.

@OhRudi How can audacity convert to these formats? MPEG 1.0 MONO / JOINT_STEREO, 44100 / 32000 sample rates I can't find any good discussion on how to do that.

The tutorial said to convert. I think I figured it out. Atleast the sound is playing.

@pudding face, when you add music, be sure to remove the cover image of the mp3-track, cause the game can't handle these properly
you can remove the cover image with mp3-tag reliably, an open source software
