The fact that using both does not cause your game to crash and burn in flames does not mean it's a problem-free conflict, just means it's not a game breaking one. The conflict is still a conflict, and it will alter what you see in your game.

Yeah, that too. I'm not entirely in my right mind today and that came out rather garbled anyways.

While research for the harder simming mod thread, I found Enthusiasm Overhaul and Wash Hands After Clean/Unclog Toilet.

joandsarah77 14th Sep 2017 10:16 AM

Good find, I like the one that forces them to wash hands after cleaning and plunging the toilet. I wonder if it will clash with the other one I use which makes them flush the toilet after puking, I hope not. Not that flushing removes the puke but it was so gross how they would throw up and not flush!

That's what I use. I'm going to pop it in my game later and see if it works.

gummilutt 14th Sep 2017 5:54 PM

Does not conflict with Cyjon's pukeflush mod, and does not conflict with the version of wash hands after toilet that I use. I forget who made it, it's called Always flush toilets wash hands. It's unlikely that Monique's mod will conflict with mods that make Sims wash their hands after other toilet activities, because she only modifies the bhavs specifically for repairing and cleaning and there's no reason for the other creator to include those unless they edited them as well. She does add two new bhavs to the group, but with very high up instance numbers, so would only conflict if the other creator also added new bhavs and happened to choose the same instance numbers.

maxon 14th Sep 2017 6:16 PM

That was 2Jeffs I think. I've had it forever.

I have, since my Day One on Sims, directed Sims to wash their hands - I am so used to it by now that I don't think I need a mod for that

Great news! I'm going to add that other mod. I always HATED that my Sims would plunge & splash themselves with icky water and not wash their hands unless directed -- especially since I didn't have to remind them to wash after using the toilet. (got a mod for that)

Maxon is right. The always flush & wash hands mod is a TwoJeff's mod found on Simbology: http://www.simbology.com/smf/index.php?topic=15.0

I once found something on Google Books about how Sims 2 players were deviant because some of them used cheats to age babies up or kill Sims. It was odd.

EDIT: It was this book. https://books.google.ca/books?id=Qh...=gbs_navlinks_s Since the pages weren't available for viewing, here's some screenshots I had:

FranH 19th Sep 2017 10:50 PM

Great-at age 62, I'm a deviant.
And I thought I was playing a simulation game! Lord amercy, will wonders never cease?

But on the more serious side, I wonder if the same writer has ever taken a good hard look at all the shooters/bang'emups/destroyer of world games there are out there and ever questioned their morality?

Sims 2 (and its' iterations) is nothing like any Battlefield, Grand Theft Auto and the like, all of which are far more deviant and violent than our pixelated game...

But on the other hand, that paper about status as evidenced on MTS and its' threads is fascinating..I didn't know we were subjects for a discussion on social boundaries! (slinks off to improve her status. Being a Resident Polar Bear isn't enough, she thinks...)

I know why SimSample put it up, though-

From what pages I was able to skim, the author is a bit of a luddite - everything related to technology makes you deviant, apparently.

maxon 19th Sep 2017 10:57 PM

Luddite? Deviant? huff.

kamoodle5 19th Sep 2017 11:24 PM

Sometimes after a Sim has dealt with the toilet in some way, and if I have the mirror specifically for brushing teeth and washing face, I'll have them do either of those to improve their hygiene. Washing face seems to make more sense in this scenario, as with some toilets the water can splash anywhere and everywhere. That's especially true in public restrooms, and I can sympathize why Sims will sometimes despise using those.

Phantomknight 20th Sep 2017 12:54 AM

Very interesting snippet, ihate! I can't take the author too seriously though, if all the "research" on cheats can be put into only two categories, "deviant" and "idle." Not to mention, the author suggests that TS2 is "in the vein" of Second Life, even though it's a sequel to game that predates Second Life. The passage reminds me of what another simmer was saying on a different thread, when it describes the game as "all one big life with one big 'cumulative' score." I honestly don't know how anyone could play the game and think that--I guess it's just a completely different mindset, but for me, growing up and playing the TS2, I remember all the stigma the games got (and still get) from "real gamers" because they didn't consider it a game. It had no score, no end, no goals; it's a sandbox.

And yet, it's funny how no one asks authors why they torture their characters and why stories and movies aren't all sunshine and rainbows. No one asks kids torturing their siblings' barbie dolls with their action figures why they play that way, or why kids playing with dolls and their dollhouses--the real precursor to the Sims--are acting out what's essentially a complicated soap opera. And, for that matter, no one questions why storytellers don't include all the gritty details. Why do some players want to make the game "easier" and skip toddlerhood and the baby stages? It's just not relevant to their stories. They're skipping the door, so to speak, as they say in screenwriting. It's storytelling. And building stuff. Why can't outsiders realize that?

Did you manage to work out who 'Giggles' and 'QHouse' are? Not sure why they didn't change my name!

I thought by Qhouse they may have meant QBUILDERZ, but giggles I have no idea. If they were so low on the rung maybe they slipped right off. They do make the forums sound rather like an ego trip though.

Me too. I love how the sims community is very open and quick to help and this site is one of the best for that. (Though, to be fair, from the amount of faqs and game guides out there, other games are like that too. Especially the rpgs I've played.)

I do have a find, too--file it under 'How did I miss this?': Garden of Shadows Christmas in July 2017 Gift Sharing Thread. I can't believe I forgot to check back! Loads of goodies, especially for maxis match players.

Is that good or bad? Maybe they thought I should be 'outed'!

How odd that someone should pick that thread to write a paper about- whatever would they make of the Sims 4 forums I wonder?

SIMelissa 21st Sep 2017 12:35 AM

I could not get through the entire paper. Academic writing is at the very bottom of my "Things I like to read list." If I was a professor and had to read that drivel day in and day out, I'd probably take a fork to my eyes.

Interesting thing about the author. He is (or was) studying educational psychology. Perhaps one day soon, he'll be in a classroom or an office teaching or counseling the children of tomorrow. Now, isn't that a scary thought!?

gummilutt 22nd Sep 2017 2:13 AM

Awesome! Thanks PenelopeT. I don't want to make rent cheaper, but I've long wanted to make rent not reduce weekly, and that should help pinpoint the code I should look at

Lamare 22nd Sep 2017 9:41 AM

@gummilutt, actual rent you owe each week depends on relationship with landlord and also may change due to reputation. Otherwise it does not change, as far as I can tell. And I know a bit about rent, cause it's a part of my big project I've been working on for months now.
(Damn, I should really get moving with this, before everyone outruns me )

Well, in my game it does change. And it's definitely not due to relationship with landlord or any other rent-decreasing thing. Each week the rent is lower than it was originally. I do have apthack so that may have something to do with it, I suppose.

Bulbizarre 22nd Sep 2017 5:49 PM

Could it be object deprecation?

Lamare 22nd Sep 2017 6:22 PM

ihatemandatoryregister, to reflect object deprecation the rent price would need to be recalculated, and it doesn't normally happen (you can force it though, and that's what I do with my rent-changing mod).
But if gummilutt says the rent changes, there's some reason to it, I guess.

gummilutt 22nd Sep 2017 6:31 PM

It is possible that I get discounts I'm not aware of, but it seems unlikely that it'd happen in every single household. I write down rents so I know how much money my Sims need to bring in, and without fail next week both bills and rent have dropped considerably. But hey, if you are working on it then no need for me to, right now. I'll just wait for you to finish whatever it is you are working on and see if it might work for my needs too

Rosebine 23rd Sep 2017 6:13 PM

Any chances you guys could figure out how to make it monthly instead of weekly? I never paid rent every week in all the years I've been living in apartment...
(This so not belong in this thread, I'm aware, but since 2 modders interested in rent are having a discussion...)

Bulbizarre 23rd Sep 2017 8:00 PM

Thing is, how long is a Sim month? 4 weeks? 30 days?

FranH 23rd Sep 2017 9:14 PM

Rent is due every Monday in game. Make it every 4 Monday. I really don't see how hard this is to calculate. The only hard part for me, is figuring out how to make the mod.

The problem is that the length of a "month" varies depending on how each player chooses to define the passage of time in their game. In your game, you apparently define a month as four weeks (28 days). An entire year in an unmodded vanilla game is only 20 days. A month, a week and a season are pretty much the same thing, so paying the rent every Monday is paying it "once a month." Some players define one in-game day as corresponding to a whole RL year, which I guess means they're paying their rent once every 7 years?

I guess the thing to do would be to make a mod that allows each player to define how often they want the rent to be paid in their specific game.

gummilutt 24th Sep 2017 4:12 AM

I'm afraid I have no interest in making that Rosebine. My Sims move frequently, paying for so long at once would mean paying for time they won't live there, and that's just mean. My sims have it hard enough money-wise. I often let them move during weekends, to get the most out of the rent they did pay.

It wouldn't be hard to make though. Either use a token to keep track, or use an on-lot object. I haven't figured out tokens yet, but I could give you advice on the on-lot approach.

Lamare 24th Sep 2017 11:48 AM

Same as gummilutt on non-weekly rent. Sorry...

To stay on topic, I recently found Sims 2 Sliders sort-of-database. I think it's a cool idea to have all sliders grouped in one place.

Rosebine 24th Sep 2017 7:48 PM

Oh wow..I wish i knew how this works. lol
Do you just download the one you like, put it in your Downloads folder and..then select it from 'Hood deco??
Do you need some other mod/hack for these to work?

FranH 24th Sep 2017 8:12 PM

I think that they can be used without the Skyfix or Lowedeus' mod, but they'd probably look better with it. They are hood deco, and in the build section.

In order to keep everything straight in the downloads folder, make a new folder (name it appropriately) and put everything to do with skies in it. That way you'll be able to figure out what you have/need to use.

maxon 24th Sep 2017 8:20 PM

You usually put them in the corner of the map Rose - not sure if those do that but that's how many of the others work.

grammapat 24th Sep 2017 8:24 PM

I got them, and another recommended mod that puts a red "pointer" on every object box - it will show on ALL of them --really helpful! In the case of the sky & horizon mods, you put them on a CORNER with the pointer facing OUTWARD

RoxEllen1965 24th Sep 2017 10:46 PM

I found a ye olde mansion that is neither too big, nor too small, not boring to look at and is easy to play:
http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=458709

So far I am using the room near the kitchen as servants quarter for the all in one NPC from christianlove. Still needs some tweaking before it runs smoothly, but at least the house is roomy but not gigantic.

I downloaded her other similar houses from simfans.uk, but haven't played them yet.

maxon 29th Sep 2017 7:39 PM

That's certainly been nicely built and looks good.

I confess, I have no mansions in my game. I really just don't like playing lots like that. The biggest houses I have are both my own builds and one of them is pure hood deco - sitting in Little Carping's posh area.

One of the most interesting large manor type lots I've seen had secret passages which I thought was a nice touch.

I can't stand huge mansions either. They are a pain in the butt to play and you can never find your sims. But this one just works. For a while I played Plasticbox houses, but they are just too small, however, I vastly prefer small houses with good floorplans.

@ihate Thank you!

FranH 2nd Oct 2017 6:14 PM

The big problem for me is that the largest mansions will without a doubt, crash my game harder than a rock. I'll download the one referenced above, and try it out..but I'm not holding out hope that it will be playable.

Edit: I did load it up..and it crashed my game hard to desktop. So much for playing large mansions..

@SIMelissa - I'm sure you know this but many times we don't allow links to Chris's site because it's an adult site. However, I'm leaving your link and post up there because it leads to a thread with a fix for SimPE (which hopefully will help UC users (smorbie) and you can't see it unless you're logged into the site. There's very little adult material on the page. However, I just wanted to put this post up as a reminder to everyone to take care when linking to sites like BAS - normally it's not allowed because of the site content and I (and others) will delete posts.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't know that it was not allowed -- especially since I found his site through a thread here on MTS. But now that you mention it, that discussion was about all the family friendly mods he makes. I'll be more careful in the future.

I found the link again, and pmmed it omglo. I saved it on my computer and if anyone wants it, they can just ask me and I'll send it to them. I haven't tried it yet. I'm so close to just giving up at this point, really. But, I'll give it ago.

It also contains fixes for the two expansion packs Chris made. I won't mention them here. But, yes, the site itself has a lot of adult content, and the pages which talk about the simpe fix are in the adult section. So, I won't post the link here. But, I'm happy to send it to anyone who asks.

I didn't receive a PM, Smorbie. But it's okay because I used the link in SiMelissa's post to get file. Thanks.

ConsoC 6th Oct 2017 4:42 PM

I got a hold of the file, will give it a try later and report back.

ConsoC 6th Oct 2017 6:16 PM

Apologies for doublepost.
I installed the file, made sure the paths were in place and it seems to work, at least as far as I tested aka, finding objects with the Object Workshop, and editing a sim's career and other attributes inside a neighborhood, so I'd say it's a success.

smorbie1 7th Oct 2017 1:21 AM

Ahh, there's the rub. No matter what I do I can't get the paths to stay in place.

If paths are the problem I found (no longer can link to you because I don't remember where) all the paths you may need. I saved them as a txt file (I can't upload the txt file per se so I had to zip it in a .7z) so you can check one by one.

I found a blog full of CAS sliders. Probably it was posted before but it's nice to see them all in one spot.

On the odd chance that someone other than me hadn't ever seen this before...Vampire Sunblock: http://modthesims.info/d/162163
Adds a magical "sunblock" effect to perfume when applied to vampires, which of course makes perfume actually worth buying (I have literally never bought a single bottle before), makes the perfume turn-on not 100% a "nope" (in fact, it could help the vampire's love interest be specifically attracted to them!), and now I actually want to go play a vampire...

Edit: Urgh, no. I must resist. I promised myself that I'm not going beyond 6GB for each folder anymore.

Beautiful decorative peacocks by Mila.

(But the forum is in Russian and I think that you have to register to download....)

gwynne 18th Oct 2017 5:13 PM

(The article I linked that was deleted was about the origin of the "Legacy Challenge" ... in TS2. They just used TS4 screenshots.)

FranH 18th Oct 2017 7:52 PM

Those peacocks are available for download without registration. Gotta jump through a couple of hoops but I nabbed them. A bit big, though-11.7 mb!

Just push the 'download' button and you'll be taken to the separate page where they're available. If you have NoScript, you have to disable it for the download to begin.

Unzipped they're 24 mgb-but using the Compressorizer brought them down to 14...

Edit: I put them in my game..and nearly half of them were 'white-out' as if missing the mesh to the item. However, 4 of them did show up. Don't know if something happened to the mesh or item, but if you see the 'white peacock' in your objects in game, go through them carefully. They're not all bad. The ones that are displayable are lovely..

Ah, that's good! Perhaps it's other stuff on there that I couldn't download, then? I downloaded the peacocks a few days ago, but when I tried to download some other stuff today I had to post a comment somewhere before the download buttons became visible. But I guess that some stuff is visible without registering/commenting.

Big files but they are lovely! I will only use a few of them, I think, and only if I ever get round to making my "Kew Gardens" inspired lots......

Found this curling iron by rebecah at Affinity Sims. It has an outlet, and can be turned on which makes steam come off it, and you can use it to change your Sims hairstyle. Hubba hubba

So, turns out there really was a super awesome default of the community phone out there that I missed. And of course I found it when I was searching for something completely different! Anyway, community phone as hitching post is over at disemporium's dreamwidth. Picture attached because Photo bucket is lame and hit this journal pretty hard. Luckily links still work and there's pictures in the files.

Oh gummi, that reminds me of a few more functional personal care items I have found.
- A functional blow dryer that will increase the hygiene need for all ages and give a love potion effect to older sims.
- Some functional deodorants that can be used when hygiene is very low to prevent stink fumes and tanking a sim's mood until they can get to a bath or shower.

I don't know if these have been mentioned, but since it's almost Halloween, here are some fantasy/supernatural-themed sets that I overuse in my game and might be useful to you:

Toddler nursery sets for your Plantsims and others: http://www.digitalperversion.net/ga...6642#msg586642: Includes toddler skilling toys!

TS3 Fairy houses as Dollhouses + TSM Castle Dollhouse: http://decatsims2.blogspot.mx/2013/...houses-tsm.html

Dollhouse toy and toybox toy replacements:
http://decatsims2.blogspot.com/2015...replacment.html
http://decatsims2.blogspot.com/2013...oybox-toys.html

Some Harry Potter themed items:

http://decatsims2.blogspot.com/2016...d-witch_29.html
http://decatsims2.blogspot.com/2017...agic-theme.html

Other items:
Functional TS3 and TSM Spellbooks http://decatsims2.blogspot.com/2013...spellbooks.html
TS3 Broom and wand default replacements http://decatsims2.blogspot.com/2013...placements.html
TS3 Supernatural Conversions http://decatsims2.blogspot.com/2012...onversions.html
Dragon toy! http://decatsims2.blogspot.com/2012...dragon-toy.html

We also talked about children's toys recently, so here are some not-so-supernaturally themed ones:
https://hat-plays-sims.dreamwidth.o...l?thread=844597
http://decatsims2.blogspot.com/2013...ble-extras.html

Basically, I have way too many of Decat's stuff.

Sorry I got carried away!

lauratje86 26th Oct 2017 4:10 PM

Cindy Sim's cave build set. I haven't tried it out in game yet, but it definitely has potential (and there is more cave stuff by other creators available here and here), which may work well with Cindy Sim's set.

I rarely (and I mean like it's never happened) recommend a lot download-but if you like multi-purpose community lots, and swimmable lakes thrown in, you've got to get this lot: https://melthefattie.tumblr.com/pos...ome-people-have

It's just plain breathtaking if you place it on a suitable mountain top, with those horizons, and skies thrown in with clouds-it's just simply beyond beautiful:

The best part? It works wonderfully!

Edit: instead of doing a double post (bad forum behavior), I'll drop this link here-the kid's Lemonade stand has been made into an apple cider stand by Mortia at PBK: Apple Cider Stand. It really does depend on other sets from PBK, so make sure you get those, as well.

Delonariel made default replacements for the Maxis bar bottles, glasses and drinks from TS3 Late Night bar drinks. You can choose from two bottles, two styles of glasses (with choice of swizzle stick) and several different pairs of drink colors to replace the Maxis red/blue. The pictures were on Photobucket, so I upload them here for those who don't have the right browser add-ons. Be sure to pick only ONE of each bottle, glass, and pair of drink colors.

Delonariel warns that the meshes don't quite fit in the sims' hands and mouths the same way that the Maxis tumblers do, so the drinking animations may look a bit odd (glasses clipping into the sims' faces and floating in their hands). I still think they look much better than the default TS2 stuff.

http://delonariel.livejournal.com/4732.html

EDIT to add: Delonariel did eventually make transparent tumbler glasses. Choice of plain tumblers or with plumb-bob swizzle stick. (Yes I know all this stuff is five years old, but I'm slow and it's cool! ) These fit properly in the sims' hands, but the drink recolors in the previous link won't work with them (The replacement "drinks" come out the wrong color and don't fit properly in the glasses).
