Good to know, thank you. It must have been SimBlender, I just starting using it recently. I never have before, and have never had an issue with the PTs before either. I also set them to read-only just in case. Thanks for the help.

Random question : Do any of you who like to build, take your inspiration from photos or real life ?
I found a cute little three story store ... that I am going to try to recreate. Following is the link and a photo. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/yourmon...ality-show.html |
Absolutely! I have Pinterest to save pictures and house plans I find interesting. My building imagination is not all that great so when I want to build something but need ideas, I look at house plans online and other real life buildings to help get ideas. Sometimes I try to recreate them exactly and other times I just use certain elements and themes.

How does the game manage custom walls/floors when they're duplicate? I always assumed two packages containing the same object override each other as the have the same GUID, but I swear I've seen the same wall covering appearing twice in the catalog (same texture, price, description, just different placement in the catalog).
|
Two things having the same GUID doesn't necessarily mean they override each other, and I don't think walls and floors even have GUIDs at all in the first place.

Walls/floors don't have GUIDs in the same way objects have. They're more like recolors for the wall/floor mesh. Generally, it seems the Clean Installer won't change names or anything like that for files, so when you're installing lots with walls/floors you already have in your game it should (in theory, anyway) keep them as the same files. The Default installer (the one the game ships with) will change names for most files, and also will mess with walls/floors when installing lots (random strings for names), causing the game to not recognize them even if you already have instances of them, so they'll show up double. Not sure if it's because an internal string also gets edited in the process, but I suspect so. |

Oh I see - I've had it in the past when I had an object twice in the download folder but showed once in the catalog anyway.

That's quite interesting, then I guess I might have downloaded a set twice and put it in different folders - to be fair, very rarely I install walls/floors from lots but I do tend to rename some things if they've got special characters in their name. I might try to figure out how to find duplicates and take them out, hopefully the Download Organizer should do the job. Thank you so much simmer22! |

Downloading a set twice shouldn't cause the issue (the game would register those files as the same files). However, if you make a lot and then install the CC from that lot, including the walls/floors, those could count as double - at least if you use the default installer. There is also a chance that the installers will pick up several instances of the same floor/wall, and rename at least one, which could cause them to be seen as double. The default installer usually completely renames walls/floors to random strings and often adds extra ".package" endings to files, and both count for double walls/floors. |

What is this blue fog that appered on the lot? It looks like water but sims just walk throught it. Does it have something to do with a neigbourhood what is able to have beach lots?

I just realized I have never once had Mr Big or The Diva spawn in any of my Downtowns in any neighbourhood. Would antiredundancy or notownieregen be stopping them from appearing?

As I have noted elsewhere, I'm now playing the UC with the Sims2 Starter Pack with RPC and while I'm very much enjoying it, I do have a couple of questions about it if anyone else has that set:
In my original game, I cut out all the EA intro movies-this version has it. I'd like to eliminate it but I don't know how. I've looked in all the game folders but I can't locate the "logo movie" that is in this version. I also have the 'special occasions' cut scene (IE the birth sequence) and I'd like to remove it from the game. Otherwise it's working very, very well and I'm happy with the game. I even figured out that I could add the holiday pack that I had in my previous set up. Any hints would be much appreciated! |

I think it's water ? This can occur if the lot is below sea level or a large body of water level. |

Also, you can use the game tool to temporarily move the lot, then go back and type in the cheat bar: modifyneighborhoodterrain_on , (where the underscore___ is a space) and raise the area where your lot was, then move your lot back. The water should be gone. |

Thank you for the insight simmer22, I should really tidy up my download folder anyway - I guess I will pay extra attention to the extra .package extension as you said

To disable the intro you'll have to remove several files from several folders: https://modthesims.info/t/599380 To remove the special occasions there's a a toggle in Camera Option > Special Event Camera which can be turned off. |
I don't know why someone disagreed with a question I had asked-because you can remove the intro movies and disable the 'special events' sequences from the game.
You can also remove all of the "Locale" settings except for the language you play in. Also, you can compress all of the game files in the installed game if you need to save space. The game will run fine without all of those items. I was just asking about where to find the items I knew we can remove from the game without it being affected because I'd done it before. I knew it was possible-I'd just forgotten where they were. It had been a very long time since I've had to do that. Thanks for the info, too! I had forgotten to check all of the folders! |

Never heard of them before and they've never posted, so I wouldn't worry. |

That's life, people will always fine some reason to disagree with you. Don't worry so much about it, just enjoy your game. (Which is now free of those sequences, I assume the above advice worked?) |

Oh, yes! It has been an treat to see my game back in its old form! All the neighborhoods are there, just perking along and the pixels being pixels. It was a very long month for me to not have it at all because I had to select and buy the computer. It's so nice to finally have a top notch rig that can play the game flawlessly without any problems! Especially since I'd been very wary of getting a computer with Win 11 and if I could even play it! This is actually the first time I've ever played in the houses themselves without cutaway walls! Quite immersive. The biggest problem is the fact that now I have so much space for so many downloads! Temptation abounds! |

What happens if a recolour is removed while it's being used? Will the object revert to another colour?
|
I have a sim that already has an A+ report card, yet they've rolled the "Get A+ Report Card" want. Is this normal behaviour?
