Goldenbtrfly 14th Apr 2016 8:00 AM

Within the last 24 hours:

"Please hurry up and just die already."
"Go check him out while he still has a stench cloud!!!"

Sunbee 15th Apr 2016 6:47 AM

"Juliet, you idiot!"

And no, it had nothing to do with Romeo. Consort took the teens and kids to Twikkii. They're camping on the beach. Miranda and Tybalt had beaten Juliet to waking up and grabbing the toilet bushes. She really needed to go! So she walked down to the beach, with build sandcastle in her queue, and there was no way, with that little tiny sliver of not-quite-peed-her-pants-yet left that she ever would've made it back to the bush in time.

Kligma 15th Apr 2016 9:45 PM

"No! Don't talk about her! She's dead!!" A deleted sim, a non-sim if you will, appeared in someone's speech bubble.

Essa 16th Apr 2016 11:18 AM

"Seriously?!" when I saw Elladora and Bruce autonomously dance-kissing.
Both were asked to teach their twins to walk by me!

HonokaAizawa 16th Apr 2016 1:07 PM

"Of course you're coming back pregnant!"

A few hours after Beatrice grew into a teenager she was abducted by aliens.

Katya Stevens 28th Apr 2016 11:55 AM

"Whose biological kid are you again?"

(My mind is convinced that Leia Lyndhurst is Meadow Marshalls' bio daughter. No, Leia is Daniella Vanderpol's bio daughter. Elena Lawrence is Meadow's bio daughter. Thankfully I keep notes and alter the relationships once a kid is adopted so even if I forget, the game doesn't.)

AndrewGloria 28th Apr 2016 7:59 PM

"No Andrew! I'm not going to gamble with Death for your soul! And the reason is that I love you too much. As does your mum! As does Julian! And what about all your friends? We all want you alive. That's why I do all I can to protect you from death; never mind trying to save you when it's already too late. I don't ever want to see the Grim Reaper anywhere near you. If you want to learn about near-death experiences, get a book out of the bookcase and read about them.

"You're not stupid Andrew. You've got the potential to do a lot for Veronaville. So please don't risk getting yourself killed with silly ideas about being saved from Death. We love you far too much for that. Now go and think up some sensible Wants that I can actually give you."

simsample 29th Apr 2016 12:01 AM

"So you don't wanna fall out of love with Phil. Hmm..." --Checks relationship status. Phil is missing.--
"Omg. I lost my sim... Is this possible? Where the hell did I put Phil? I had to kick him out. The jerk wouldn't commit."
--Searches apartments for Phil--
--Can't find anything--
--Goes to straighten up graves in Cemetery--
"OH! Phil I was looking for you everywhere!"

Ather 29th Apr 2016 8:51 AM

"Aww, Gulsen, you really are a lesbian!!!"

"...Gulsen stop rolling wants to ask your heavily-pregnant step-mom out on a date. That's weird. Gulsen stop."

"Gulsen no. You are not going to suck your step-mom's face. Gulsen stopppppp!"

"Oh thank goodness for pretty lesbian dormies. Gulsen go suck her face, maybe that'll get you off your step-mom."

"Leif, Nyx, why are you two making out in the corner? That's adorable."

"Toby! Stop picking on your daughter's girlfriend! You have all of the nice points! Be nice!"

"NADAV. Stop trying to make out with your half-sister's mother!!! That's just as weird as Gulsen! Bad!"

Catwoman44 29th Apr 2016 12:47 PM

"God damn it, Catherine! Stop acting like a diva!"
"Where the hell did Catherine go?!"
"Why is Catherine stuck in the shower?!"
"Catherine, be nice to your sister!"
"What the hell are you doing, Catherine?!"
"Oh great, Catherine's invisible. What have I done wrong this time?!"
"Don't you die on me, Catherine!"

"Keira! You have to go to work!"
"I know you're a vampire, but you have to go outside, Keira!"
"Keira, you're so damn lazy!"
"Now Keira's invisible too! Crap!"
"No, don't go away, Keira!"
"Keira is so rude!"
"Where is Keira?!"

Oh yeah...I always have a lot of fun with these two... :D

Except he's not really imaginary, because I know where he lives, and I only have to open up Veronaville to see him.)

Yes, the start of my post is definitely open to misinterpretation. I was merely complaining about Andrew's want "To be saved from Death". For all his reading and 10 logic points and effortless A+ school grades, he does come up with the most ridiculous and hard to satisfy wants. (The only sure way to make him happy is to send him on a date with Julian. Julian does know what to do to satisfy him! )

If Andrew was really in immediate danger of dying, I think I'd do anything in my power to try to save him -- up to and including jumping into a burning hot tub to pull him out. He is after all my best friend.

Bigsimsfan12 1st May 2016 6:22 PM

"Ah! Abiah quick go greet that Sim! You and his daughter would be perfect together!!"
Playing the Goldie's farm and their grandson should be becoming a teen soonish, and then William Williamson walks past. He has three daughters, including twins the same age as Abiah. The Williamson/Moonbeams live off the land and one would be a perfect wife to Abiah. I'm thinking he marries Harmony, because I already have someone lined up for Peewee, and their older sister Moonbeam. Although I might change my mind.

Justpetro 1st May 2016 7:01 PM

Andrew - typical Knowledge Sim again, that's all

natboopsie 2nd May 2016 6:02 AM

What? You DO? You want to marry her? Oh my GOODNESS, of course you can!
Yes, right, finish making out. Whatever, but you are proposing to her right after. The poor woman has waited for you long enough. And goodness knows, she's not getting any younger. (Sorry, Alexandra. But I think you know it too.)
OMG, you want to MARRY her! I thought I'd never see the day. You guys! I'm so happy for you. Awww.

(Tybalt Capp, newly graduated from college, finally rolled up a want to marry much older Alexandra Teatherton, who had been his love since his freshman year.)

Tons of sanity and personality checks added to wants, including:
1. No longer will want to play/etc. with people who aren't here. (Talk OK)
2. Knowledge sims no longer obsessed with attempted suicide unless low ASP.
3. Supernatural creatures no longer want to cure others of type.
4. Flirting with ugly and inappropriate people discouraged.
5. Cannot fear being caught cheating unless actually cheating.
6. Extremely implausible events with no history not feared.
Ex: Death of non-elder in neighborhood with no history of unnatural death.
Becoming enemies with best friends with no history of best friend loss.
7. No obsession with unaccessible pets.
8. Skating no longer valid want unless rink actually present.
9. Only kids and silly non-neat people want to balloon/snowball fight.
10. Very mean sims no longer actually WANT to give gifts.
11. Snow activities require presence of actual snow!

I agree with Charity---that is a useful mod and does most of what it says; the fix for that knowledge-sim Cheat Death want definitely does seem to work right out of the box.

In case anyone's using it for other wants too (you know, the kind that cause players to say other funny things), Cyjon has a Want Changes suite that complements wfsanity. Cyjon's must load after wfsanity. I've tried most of Cyjon's packages in that suite and they work as advertised; I also appreciate that he broke them up into components, so you can just use the ones you need.

I do not find Pescado's mod works sufficiently for pet-interaction wants, so I have also added TJ's No Pet Obsession, which works well when it loads after wfsanity too. And today I'm going to test an apparently obscure mod by Monique from Insimenator that aims to stop most sims from getting wants for werewolves they know to be cured, because I also do not find that Pescado's mod works consistently on those---with it in, even some of my werewolves want other werewolves to be cured.
(Edited to add: werewolf-cure want-spam mod by Monique works great! Load it after wfsanity---find a link to the download here .)

Back on topic: "Is anyone going to graduate from this dorm?"

(I edited each of the dorms at Quadington University to create three hobby-based ones. Tinkering, Film/Lit, and Music; Sports, Fitness, and Games [Science usually gets lumped in there too because it's the biggest]; and Arts, Nature, and Cuisine. I suppose because of the personality types that are drawn to each set of hobbies, each dorm has a certain feel to it. So far, ANC dwellers are notably uninterested in academics; not one sim living there has made it past sophomore year before being expelled. Romeo Monty, Ripp Grunt, and Emily Lee all just met that fate, nor were they ANC's first group to do so.)

In fact, Alexandra soon decided to replace her engagement want with a stubborn marriage want for Tybalt instead, which I eventually locked. Tybalt often rolled wants to talk to her, and anytime they were on the same lot [they did have a number of friends in common] they were inseparable.

They're inseperable in my game too. It's quite sad because I really loved Tybalt with Lilith Pleasant. They have a lovely son together, and Ajay Loner with Alex, have 2 beautiful daughters together. They both seemed quite happy until they met each other at a party; and now they don't stop flirting and cheating on their significant others. It breaks my heart that I'll either have to keep them apart or destroy their families.

natboopsie 2nd May 2016 3:13 PM

I'm sorry to hear that, bigsimsfan12.

For what it's worth, before my Alexandra met Tybalt, she'd also dated Ajay. And on her last date with Tybalt before he graduated, she rolled up a want to marry Ajay, which I interpreted as her starting to feel desperate and lonely, since Ajay currently is engaged to Cleo Shikibu, with a child they're raising together. This date with Tybalt after he graduated was, I told myself and her, the last time she was going to see him if he still didn't want to commit, because she clearly did want to settle down.

So it's interesting to hear your take. I mean, I was thinking for some time that she and Tybalt each would match with someone more age-appropriate. And I guess now I know it's better that she just waited for him, if it would have ended up with hurting two other people, as you've experienced. Best of luck to your sims.

"What are you two doing to my poor couch?!?!"

Peni Griffin 7th May 2016 6:26 AM

"What is it with the fires!?!"

I just finished Trent Hart's sixth semester at University and there has been an average of one fire per semester on his lot every semester. (To be fair, last semester had four in one day...) plus multiple fires on other lots. It's about half and half lightning strikes and kitchen fires. And he's got pretty good cooking skill, too.

So after today's fire, which was started by his brother Geoff just for variety, I had him pounce on the firefighter and tip her $100. Whatever she's paid, it's not enough!

BoilingOil 7th May 2016 7:55 AM

If it's the same firefighter every time, have you considered that she might be the reason for all the fires? He might be into her

Pyrokinetics, some of these Sims.

Essa 9th May 2016 7:16 PM

Loading Lee-Roy Morneau-Diop household
1. Both Ariana and Lee-Roy had a baby want. "No! No way! You're already have 6!"
2. "How come you're already tired when it's only 10 in the morning?" when Laetitia went to bed. Of course, jumping on your bed since you got out of bed can't help.
3. "Wow that toilet is dirty! No one wants to clean it?"

Bigsimsfan12 12th May 2016 3:23 PM

"I will kill you, I am not that emotionally invested in you anymore!!" -Nervous was being unreasonable annoying today and it's too warm and his household is too full for me to want to deal with him. I use to love Nervous but after saving him from the Beakers and slowly domesticating him, he now just kinda bores me, I need something fun to do with him.

natboopsie 12th May 2016 3:34 PM

Nervous is very smart (one of my few sims who's ever noticed that the Inventory Transfer Vase can be used autonomously, and thus has tried). Plus his maxed-out activity level means he's always looking for something to do, so I can see how he might cause problems.

In my megahood, he's the schoolmaster for the Simlogical school system---he fits Inge's suggested criteria for teachers of being Grouchy and Serious, plus his School Interest level is very high. He's really good at that.

(Funny, isn't it, how rescuing sims from lives of drama eventually can make them boring for us?)

Essa 12th May 2016 4:05 PM

Is that vase really autonomous? I only use it when a sim is about to kick the bucket.

Loading Rocky Troii household
- I got a popup telling that somesim (I think it's Rocky) bought a pet. "Of course they're keeping it"
- They got a red cat named Newton. "I think there are enough pets named Newton in that hood. You'll be named Einstein instead."
- Leilani was about to give birth and she had red hunger and hygiene bars. "Of course it's better for you to brush your teeth instead of feed yourself!"
- "Of course you can destroy a Cleanbot! You must have some adamantium claws!" when I saw Einstein doing its destructive stuff.

natboopsie 12th May 2016 4:17 PM

LOL, perhaps your Einstein has learned to practice some new theory, to go with the one about relativity.

The vase is usable autonomously. My fault for derailing the thread, so...

Rosebine 12th May 2016 5:55 PM

I never saw it happening in my game..I am always the one directing sims on the inventory vase. maybe there is 2 versions of it?

natboopsie 12th May 2016 6:15 PM

There are two versions, yes. I have always used the original (the one he uploaded first) because he seemed to be saying that the second was only necessary if the first one didn't work for you.

But again, it has only been very rare in my game that a sim will try to use it autonomously, and I only remember seeing it on community lots.

Rosebine 12th May 2016 6:52 PM

Oh ok. So it is not like the second version would be autonumous, and I would have the no-autonomous one. And maybe it is set to be auto. only on community lots?..Dunno. I use it at home, where I have owner of a shop and their spouse. Transfere from one to the owner.

natboopsie 14th May 2016 3:16 PM

Sorry, Rosebine. I had entirely lost track of this thread!

Right, as far as I know, both versions have all the same functions. The later version was just intended to make it compatible for those who had fewer EPs than the modder did.

But I would doubt that the vase is only set to be auto on community lots, since if the creator was going to bother to do that, I would guess they would have taken autonomy out completely. So I still think that its being autonomous at all is the creator's mistake, which they never noticed because it really takes some extensive play with the vase on various lots to see it. Or maybe they did know and didn't bother to fix it, because of course you can always stop a sim from completing the autonomous transfer attempt by hitting "No" on the confirm dialog box.

I think the reason I only recall seeing it on community lots is that I allow much more free-ranging there, including for longer periods than they might get when on their home lots. So it is just a matter of their having more time and opportunity, in my game, to try messing around with it when on a community lot.

SIMposiast 15th May 2016 11:31 PM

Said to Coronado and Ormond Beech: "I hereby designate both of you The Creepy Brothers!"

(These two like each other a little too much for my comfort. The younger one is almost a copy of the older one. Same orientation, same LTW, same *2nd* LTW. Only their aspirations differ, but sheesh. They would rather kiss, hug, and tickle each other for hours rather than spend time with their respective boyfriends.)

Peni Griffin 20th May 2016 3:48 AM

"No, Rhett. That will not happen." When he rolled a want to flirt with his widowed stepmom...

Essa 20th May 2016 11:20 AM

"I'm not sure it was a great idea you to open a store?" to Pablo Fernand.
He's a lazy elder sim and it's a real pain to see him walk in the store doing sales while his teenage sons are running (one is a cashier and the other is a restocker).

"I don't think so" to Samanthéa Ferland who had the want to have a baby. You're almost 58 and I think 3 boys are enough!

BoilingOil 20th May 2016 3:49 PM

"Forget it, son. At least NOT with your wife; she's not breeding material!"

I said this to Gregory Krantz who rolled another wish for a baby. His wife Nissa, a romance sim who was formerly married to Don Lothario, has so far spawned two boys - one with Don, one with Gregory - both with exactly the same horrible aversion to potty training. After having them both removed out of the household, I've decided that she is not fit to help populate the hood.

So if Gregory is to have any more kids, he will have to choose:
  • produce them out of wedlock. My default ACR setting on procreation, however, will make that difficult: no unmarried TFB.
  • break up with Nissa, and find another to procreate with. Their three-bolt relationship would make that a difficult proposition, though.

eduseo 20th May 2016 6:39 PM

"Wait, why do you even think your younger brother and your best friend will die in the first place, Joel?" He rolled fears of his younger brother and best friend dying.
"Stop flirting with your aunt-in-law Ryan, you have a girlfriend!" and a few moments later... "ACR NO!" after they promptly started to make out.
"WHY ARE THERE SO MANY OF YOU?" My first time taking care of pixel quads has made me never want pixel quads again.

And my most common one: "There's nothing blocking your way dang it! Do what I told you to!"

I also prefer my sims to run while the store is open, @Essa. I think some characteristics (Fortune sims, high Money Interest, or the $100K LTW, as just a few examples) would probably trump their laziness while the store is open. So I use Monique's Fairly Paid Regulator sign in those cases.

Yes, the FPR of course has the main function of always making sure all employees are fairly paid (and thus will never quit---the object checks regularly to see if their pay amount is sufficient for their number and level of badges and skillpoints and raises their pay whenever needed). But you never have to turn that function on if you don't want it to handle employee pay (though personally I find it does a good job there as well). That function is off by default.

Mostly, though, I don't use the sign for its main function. I use it for one of its side functions, which is to adjust the "Walk Style" of any owning household member or employee on the lot. Any who are currently on the lot can be made to either Run or set back to Walk. It does not matter whether they normally can Run or not.

I believe Pescado's Business Runs You also has forcing sims to run as one of its functions, but I do not want most of the functions of BRY. I find having this one option given to me by the FPR being on the business lot makes me sufficiently happy, and to me, there is the bonus of one less Pescado mod in my game.
(ETA: As Essa noted below, I was wrong there: BRY does not force sims to run.)

Note if you do use it: wait until the sim is standing still before you try changing them to Walk or to Run. The change will never take if they are already in motion at the time. But they can even be performing a sales interaction on the customer or writing on their clipboard to restock, and that is sufficient opportunity for the sign to change their walk style---you will see it the next time they move.

ETA an on-topic comment: "Yes, yes, he's your air. But in reality, you still need to come up for some. He'll like you better when you've not wet yourself and have recently showered. You know, maybe just by a little."
(Said while watching Jules O'Mackey and Justin Cleveland, now at college and in love with 3 bolts. Perhaps because of Jules' Playful personality, she is a little too focused on Justin, to the point of autonomously doing little else when he is on the lot. Starting to think that the difference between 3-bolters I love and 3-bolters I find grating is really the difference between Playful and Serious sims' willingness to handle their other motives despite the presence of their love. ETA: But...as I just struck through to show, Jules is Serious. Hm, I'm going to keep watching different 3-bolter couples now to see whether there really is a pattern. Would be interesting if there is---it might be more complex, like a 2-personality-trait interaction within a sim.)

Nice! Thanks for pointing that one out. I already have a mod that handles fairly paid - much better, because it will also scale wages down if too high - it doesn't deal with the other features of Monique's object. Since it's cloned from an open/closed sign, I *do* hope, though, that it will also open/close businesses. That would be a bonus. But if not, I'll be sure to figure something out to add that

Oh, boy! Monique's sign does *not* open and close businesses, nope. I would love it if it did. I end up using Simlogical's one in case I need the timer functionality...but in most cases, I do not (only when I want to also use her Employee Scheduler tokens, to allow individual calling in of employees---but there again, most of my current businesses do not have employees, just the household).

So if I may say so, I'd love it if it could open/close the business...most especially if it didn't require a Maxis open/close sign to be on the lot too, like Inge's does. Because that's a lotta signs to have to put on a business lot (the Maxis open/close, Inge's open/close, and the Fairly Paid Regulator), and a modded FPR could fix all that.

Not, of course, that I am asking you to make a mod and share it with us.

ETA: Didn't say it earlier: you're welcome!

BoilingOil 21st May 2016 6:35 AM

@natboopsie: Ah, so there is at least a one-customer market, a person who would *prefer* it if I didn't keep such an altered version for myself, but in stead shared it with the community at large, huh???

If you decided to refrain from asking because it is in fact an other person's mod, *don't*! In the case of someone such as Monique, who left the TS2 modding scene even before I started playing, I feel no need to restrict myself. I simply update and re-release the mods by such individuals, credit the original author, and assume that if they really have a problem with that, they'll find a way to let me know. Like I did with my Reward Catalogue, which is an update to Monique's Family Aspiration Notebook.

I actually never put together that she had been gone so long, so thanks---that's interesting.

No, I was just not asking because I know you have not offered new mods for public download for a while, and I didn't want to pressure you to do one if that is not your preference. Because that is the most important thing; it's not as fun to create when people expect it (or demand it!) of you, I think.

By the way, I do love your RC for having made it possible to use aspiration points as a secondary currency in the game. The way I use it, it even somewhat simulates family prestige, because in my less fortunate households, teens head to college with only 10,000 aspiration points to their name, having had to donate the rest to keep up their family's food supplies (I use dickhurt's No Free Food , so all refrigerators are empty when newly bought; I'll add the disclaimer that dickhurt is a controversial modder, so the usual due diligence is certainly required when choosing that mod for oneself). Wealthier households typically can afford to buy more produce (the main source of that is a single commercial farming operation in my hood, and prices are set as Expensive when the farmer sells it), so their teens can keep their aspiration points...and use them to help improve matters at their dorm or Greek House instead---for example by being able to afford Energizers and Thinking Caps, as well as the RC-based boost to Gold mood so that they can use them safely.

So again, thanks. You've already taken one great Monique idea and made it even more useful, at least to me.

Note if you do use it: wait until the sim is standing still before you trying changing them to Walk or to Run. The change will never take if they are already in motion at the time. But they can even be performing a sales interaction on the customer or writing on their clipboard to restock, and that is sufficient opportunity for the sign to change their walk style---you will see it the next time they move.

Well, Business Runs You (BRY) is my must-have mod to run businesses and I also use relevantwages. As I said before, only active sims were allowed to run businesses in my hood since they can run and multitask once they got all gold badges (cashing, sales and restocking). I also said that sometimes the running can be tiresome.
Lazy sims only walk and do one task at a time. I can bear it when the business is small (1x1 or 1x2), it's more difficult when the shop is on a 2x2 lot. I think it could also be a layout issue on my side. Did I say I'm a terrible builder?

BRY never had and never will make lazy sims run. Lazy sims are lazy so they sometimes have to hire sims to work with them.
I don't always go with characterics. Pablo is a Family sim married to the hood handywoman (also Family). He stayed home to raise their 3 boys. They had money and I'm tired of my sims having money (I'm doing taxes, I'm thinking about switching to CJ's bigger bills instead of AH's bigger bills+tuition and adding CJH's inheritance mods).
It's currently Summer and school is closed. I use this calendar. This prompt "Today is Nation's Day! Today is a great day for getting outdoors having a grill-out and watching fireworks" makes me want to open Extra-Muros where sims could buy outdoor stuff.
Since Pablo has Nature as OTH and is a young elder, I thought it would be great to have him own a store. Well he can only walk since it's part of his personality but he also wants to gain business related badges so it's fine for me. I think he wants his business to be successful.

FPR sounds interesting regarding the wages part so I may give it a try instead of using relevantwages. I think employees in my game are at least fairly paid though because I have never had a sim quit.

No, I was just not asking because I know you have not offered new mods for public download for a while, and I didn't want to pressure you to do one if that is not your preference. Because that is the most important thing; it's not as fun to create when people expect it (or demand it!) of you, I think.

Thanks for the praise and the explanation.
In fact, with respect to requests, I see this slightly differently. If people were to *demand* anything, I would tell them to eat what they excrete. But a request is always welcome. I will not honour all requests, but that is just a matter of a number of questions I ask myself: Does it seem interesting to do? Do I think I *can* do it? and finally: Do I have the time and desire to try? But people can always ask... If I take it on, you can be sure I'll have fun doing it!

I believe, by the way, that No Free Food is reasonable safe. I have a similar mod in my game named "Buy Empty Fridges", from a modder I trust a little more.

Matter of personal taste. I actually prefer it without, and have no problems running businesses.

I have no problems running businesses either and I'm playing with OFB since its release. I tried BRY and love it. That's it.
Like you said, fortunately, we're not all the same.

RoxEllen1965 21st May 2016 10:15 PM

I love BRY too. It makes my non-selectable employees take care of their needs in a reasonably intelligent fashion instead of the usual Maxis way (I have to pee right now! I guess I'll go play pinball! ) I also like that BRY allows me to set what the boss does when I visit the business lot with another family. In a family-run business with no outside employees, the boss is the only one who appears at the business when other playables visit and I ususally want him/her to operate the cash register, not wander all over the lot trying to sell stuff to townies.

I don't mind mods that make sims run - they take forever to get anywhere at a normal walking pace (I wish there was something that would make playful sims skip). I do have the Fairly Paid Regulator, but don't use it much anymore. I prefer to use Change Wages under the Management menu since I like the relationship change that goes with it (an employee getting a pay increase should like the boss better and an employee getting docked should dislike the boss for it). It's easy enough to remember to change wages when I get the notice that an employee has gained a badge level.

BoilingOil 22nd May 2016 2:27 PM

@RoxEllen1965: Hahahaha... Employees... *If* I use employees - which, I must point out, almost never happens - I put in some Please Yourself Plants (made by Inge Jones, and found at Simlogical) - one to each employee -, set to keep their hunger, comfort, bladder and hygiene up in the green. I don't care about the other motives, and let those decay normally.

Usually though, my businesses are built to be run by just the owner or one of their household members. And occasionally, two household members are required. Cash registers are the worst, so I usually only have automated ones that need no personel.

And I think that a payment regulator (I use one from Paladin's Place) makes my life a bit easier. If I want a relationship to develop - which I usually do indeed - I'll just have my business owner strike up a chat with the employees in question, whenever there is time for it. Running or not running, if it doesn't work, any employee can be replaced.

I have been pleased with FPR's function there, it's true. Does BRY not have such an equivalent? I always wondered whether it does that. Now I am curious also about the item BO mentioned that Paladin made, the one which he is describing keeps wages adjusted properly as well.

(ETA: That calendar you use sounds interesting too. I have a global mod that makes winter longer than the other seasons, though, so I assume it wouldn't work well for me---all four seasons together now take 22 days. But the concept is pretty neat!)

Well then, @BoilingOil, I would like to make a request to have Monique's Fairly Paid Regulator sign modded into a version that can also open and close the shop. Because I just remembered something else very helpful that it already does! I'll say more specifically in my reply to RoxEllen in this same post...but meanwhile, is it all right for me to make that request here, or do I need to register at one of your official sites to do so?

And thank you for the info on No Free Food. It seems like it ought to be a straightforward mod (I know that doesn't mean it *is*, just that I was hopeful it didn't bother to do more, since more would have been particularly unnecessary). Plus, dickhurt was thoughtful enough to allow baby bottles to always be taken from the fridge (bottles are always allowed, which means they can push the food count into negative numbers). Although not as realistic thus as it could be, it is a concession I think is reasonable for fun gameplay...plus you always make it up eventually, since you still have to stock the fridge to the point where you have a positive food count before any other food can be prepared.

Oh my gosh, @RoxEllen! You have reminded of yet another very useful feature that is exactly why I continue to use the FPR---it allows you to *instantly* assign sims on a business lot to be cashier, to restock, or to tidy up, using the Assign Job menu. Apparently just like BRY does...except that you do *not* have to be playing the lot as the owning household at the time!

This has been just lovely, because of course, owners mess around when you visit if you haven't set them to Be Cashier, including (for example) if the last thing they happened to do before you took them off the business lot was to restock. But with an FPR on the lot, when you visit the business with another family, you just click that FPR and assign the actual owner to Be Cashier; a visitor still gets the full menu and, believe it or not, can assign the owning family members. I was thrilled when I first noticed this. It means my owned retail businesses are always only a click away from being functional whenever visited. (But note that you can't assign a sim to do sales using the sign, just to those other three tasks.)

Have never tried assigning a sim who isn't part of the owning family to Be Cashier while visiting; no idea what might happen then, heh.

I was thinking too that if you do prefer for your business-owning sims (and their employees) to run, you can still just use Change Wages on the regular Maxis menu, as you mention. But then have the FPR on the lot, just to change their walk style as you wish. Like I said, the wage-change functions of the FPR are off by default already, so just having it there wouldn't cause it to start doing any of that.

ETA: My on-topic share: "Oh, crud. Now I have to wait until you're a toddler to rename you, don't I, since you can't "use" the batbox for that or anything else until you're at least that old?"
(Antonio Monty and his social-group townie wife, Regine, just had male twins. I named them Lucca and Marcello, although it occurred to me only a moment after I clicked to confirm this that I had just yesterday been thinking I wanted to use the name Stefan, or in this case Stefano, for a new baby boy. So once Marcello becomes a toddler, they shall become Lucca and Stefano. I like to stay with the apparent ethnic heritage of Maxis families!)

Essa 23rd May 2016 8:51 PM

@natboopsie
I'd say that you can rename Marcello with the the Simmanipulator, it's easier than doing it with Simblender.
I can't say more about BRY and its wages feature as I don't use it. I know you can set it to ZQC (zero quit chance) which allows one to underpaid an employee. There are other settings but I don't get how to use them.

OT: "you really dislike children" to Andrée Granville-Carver. One of her traits is "dislike children". She married and mother of two. She recently had a baby boy. She spent the whole day without taking care of the poor thing. Fortunately her brother-in-low, Daniel, was passing by so he did. Claudia who is a child can entertain herself.

While I would have *liked* for the request to be made in the Garage at LeeFish.nl, I do not *require* that. I'm just happy that you did not request it in a PM.

And yes, ofcourse, I noticed that this object does not allow opening/closing the business, and I think that this is an omission of epic proportions. A cloned open/close sign should at least be able to open/close businesses as well. Even if only to prevent people from *being forced* to have multiple signs where one should be enough.

Good that you mention that. Allowing visiting sims from other households to have that many control options just feels wrong to me! Any mod that I stamp my name on, should not cheat that much, so I'm almost tempted to see if I can cut all that out...

On the other hand, I do agree that the owner should at least do something useful when you visit their business. Because I've been to Ramirez' furniture shop a few times, where Checo simply chose to play chess with some visitor, in stead of checking out the ever growing line of customers. VERY disturbing! But maybe the object could be made to automatically choose the best job for the owner.
  • if there are no cash registers at all, because the business doesn't sell anything, the owner could tidy up
  • if there are auto cash registers (either Inge's or mine), the owner could restock
  • and otherwise, he could operate a cash register
But then again, I must admit that I'm not even sure that I can do all that. I'm just thinking out loud, here.

"You're a weird family sim, Fiona." My family sim Fiona rolls fears of having a baby almost every other day after having her quads, but her LTW is to have 6 children marry off. Since she's so persistent in not wanting any more kids, she'll probably only have the quads (unless there is an unexpected surprise... then it's her own fault!)
"Why do they just keep coming and coming..." Three kids brought home three different friends from school and two adults brought two different friends from work all in one go. This happened in a household of seven sims by the way.
"If you cancel out my action one more time I swear I will burn you alive." I get impatient with these sims a little too frequently.

LMAO I had a similiar scene a few years ago when a couple lost their kids, and were re adopted by another family. So when the girl grew up the "ex" dad saw her and gave her that "you're HOT" look. They had three bolts. It was horrible, I was in shock. Like, REALLY in shock, my jaw left my mouth for a solid minute. x'D Since then when kids are re adopted I use the Simblender to asign their biological parents as aunt and uncle, so they are not their parents, but still are recognized as family or related by the game. It was really awkward.

Thank you, Essa! That is quite a helpful reminder about my having other options. It's true, I'd only been renaming sims with the batbox's Debug Mode. I have Simblender too, so I'll check that next---and if I still need more, I'll try Sim Manipulator then.

Right, I think the FPR's ability to force owners to work the cash register during another family's visit, even if I forgot to set that up before the last time I left the business lot with the owner, is a crucial part of its function. In fact, I'd say keeping that feature, plus keeping the object's ability to make owning/employee sims run, are its two most important things to me---I'd rather have the FPR always be able to do those things than have it be able to open/close the business. Because to me, those two things are what make it a totally satisfactory alternative to having to put BRY in my game.

OT: "Yes, polka dots! You are the perfect fellow for that shirt." (Said to Crille Mifsud, a social-group townie who is newly Nervous Specter's live-in fiance, after having him try on some of my newest default-replacement shirts for men. Crille pairs his white polka dots on navy with a bright green bandanna over his blond hair, plus distressed jeans. And Nervous would never be caught dead in any of that...OK, maybe the jeans.)

Her: "What the F***? Why is there a penguin?"
*I look over and it's summer on the lot, and no snowmen, but she has had the sims fishing for quite awhile*
Me: "It's because you are fishing, and have a lot of fish in your sims backpacks"
Her: "But WHY is it here?"
Me: "I don't know, it wants to eat the fish?"
Her: "But that's messed up, if I go to (insert RL lake name) and go fishing, a f***ing penguin isn't going to show up!"
*I shrug*
Her: "Well what am I supposed to do with it?"
Me: "Pet it"

Her: "OMFG if this penguin steals my fish I am going to kill it!" (she had displayed some fish up on a wall of an outside shed on the lot and the penguin was trying to fly to reach them)

Me: "I'd rather listen to a crying baby than your dog barking"
Her: *doubtful tone* "Really?"
Me: "Yes, the other day the single sim mom was tired and I let her sleep and her baby was just crying the whole time and I could stand it."
Her: "That's not something you should be okay with bragging about."

"Please don't be quadruplets. Please don't be quadruplets."

*pause*

*message saying there's two!!! new babies in the family*

*incoherent screaming*

"God damn it, it's triplets."

@MikeJMW55: and that is why mods like Pescado's "nobabyharrassment" and TwoJeffs' "No Baby Toddler Swarming" exist: to make sims leave the kids alone occasionally... In many cases only just long enough to make more babies, though...

Yup, you always need to be aware of what you get. Pescado, TJ, Squinge and Inge each had their own takes on how it should work. And each appeals to a different audience. I wasn't very taken with Pes' version, or with Inge's. Currently, I use none except my own model.

"Nooooo, that's not your bed..." (I made sure all the kids had beds with better ratings than Rhett's, but where do they want to sleep? Dad's room. Always.)

Which is what Smart-Beds is for. I tell each of my sims where they are supposed to sleep, and they will not sleep anywhere else. If they're tired, they even autonomously find their own bed. And yes, that's another TwoJeffs mod.

"Could you please start worrying about your needs and not the dishes? You're about to fall out cold on the floor! GO TO BED!"
"WOULD YOU PLEASE STOP FREAKING CLEANING?! I HIRED A MAID FOR A REASON!!"

"No, do your homework. No, I said do your homework. I do not care what the environment is inside. Go outside and do your homework."
...
"Stop resisting me. Do your homework."
...
"SCHOOL STARTS IN FOUR HOURS AND YOU'RE ONLY 25% DONE! DO YOUR HOMEWORK!"
...
"FINALLY! Thank you!"
...
"...Screw it. Why do I even bother?"

Peni Griffin 6th Jun 2016 3:17 AM

Take care of the motives first and you'll get through the homework. After the dance of the night they learn to study I never have a problem with homework anymore.

But if I assigned beds I wouldn't know which kids were defending their mom's turf by co-opting it when Rhett has a lady over, which one feels most bereft when an elder sibling goes to college - what other people find annoying I call characterization. But if I catch them I'm duty-bound to redirect them.

"Nobody's in your way, dear...don't you drop that from your queue; you're going to school!"

That mod is a godsend for large families. I use to have to give each sim their own room so they can lock the door, but they'd always end up in the parents unlocked bedroom. I don't know how I would've coped with The Dreamer's 11 children if not for that mod. I don't know why claiming beds was never a thing in Sims 2.

BoilingOil 7th Jun 2016 5:20 AM

You're preaching to the choir here, @Bigsimsfan12

I easily build a bedroom for four children, give each their own bed in that room, and never need to worry again until they leave the house and another one needs a bed. And in the meantime, I have the parents' bedroom open for any couple to do their horizontal dances :P
But as soon as the kids are off to bed, the parents can be together in their own room, their own bed, the way it is supposed to be.

Quick question here...The only mod I have that has *bed* in its name is this one : Smart Beds - Comm Sleep Plugin.package
Is this the smart bed you guys are talking about, or just a plugin that allows sims to sleep on community lot?
Because i never have that much trouble with making sim understand/know which bed is theirs...at times, i admit, son will go for parent's bed, either because son so so tired, and parent's bed is closer, either because this bed is more comfy, though i doubt it, I made their beds and they are as comfy, but other than this, never. I send them once...they go back everytime.
Now, if this mod I showed you IS acting like reservable beds or whatnot..it would explains why i see no trouble, otherwise...what are YOu doing to your sims so they piss you off that much... ?? lol
Okay..I found it, and i don't think it actually works as the base mod, so it would be just the plugin allowing sleeping on community lot. other wise, i would have a new pie menu options on the sim menu to set/clear bed ownership. I don't have this.

@Rosebine: If you follow the link that I supplied a few posts back, you'll see all Smart Beds items mentioned, and yours is one of them. But yours is indeed only to facilitate sleeping on comm lots.
But if you have a mod named "reservable beds" (sounds like Inge made that), then ofcourse I understand why you don't need Smart Beds. Both mods would do roughly the same thing, I think. So if *we* pissed our sims off, then what have *you* been doing to yours?

(Me Ninja'd BO, all by self)
Edit, because He did too..

Well, Mister Sir, *MY* sims obviously loves me more than yours loves you, because I do not have reservable bed mod. ah!
Seriously, I just had to ask, because i read this so often..things like OMG! good thing I have smart beds! and such..and I am just like..but why? I don't feel the need for this at all. It is just as i said..send a sim to a bed, and he or she just go back to it when tired. Made me wonder, if I myself had a mod for this, but no. I do not.

Well, it just so turns out that it doesn't always work that way for everyone playing. Depends on play style, on mods that you have or don't have (some of Pescado's mods do much more than he says they do, and one of them might have a hidden feature that make your sims remember their beds better). On whether or not you do some of the VBTs that can cause BFBVFSs. It may also depend on the characters of the sims you're playing, on whether or not you cheat... Really, on lots of things. The total sum of it is, though, that no two games play exactly the same, even if they have the same EPs and SPs. Some need Smart Beds, and some don't. Simple enough for me.

And my sims love me well enough, thank you. They know that Animaeus/TihrAn/Aerbor - or whatever else they call Him - is good to them. But some of them have trouble remembering where their beds are. Because Aerbor is not such a fan of Pescado's mods, and therefor doesn't have all of them He doesn't use the SleepClock, or Bathroom Uses You, or Business Runs You. He's not a tyrant to his sims. Hahahahahaha!

Justpetro 7th Jun 2016 10:39 AM

I have to say that I also never used (or intend to use) Smart beds. The way Sims sleep in different beds does not bother me.
It seems to me that Sims may go for another bed if a) the bed is more comfy then his/her own one and b) if the bed is closer when said Sim is exhausted.
Kids do like to try out the double bed in the parents' room - which seems kind of normal to me.
And if there are more beds than necessary, why not try out all of them?

Essa 7th Jun 2016 3:11 PM

The bed ownership feature was working great in TS1. I missed it when I came to TS2 back in November 2004 so Smart Beds makes it to my game since I've heard of its existence.
BO, thanks for the links for the other Smart Beds plugs-in. I didn't know about them. I may try the sleep on comm lot one instead of the one I recently add.
... and I'm not a tyrant to my sims, mind you! ;-)

I'm a bit of a hand-off player but I like my sims to "do some things right" (like sleeping in their own bed) without me to direct them.

On topic: why do my single sims always have the hots for my married ones?

Noah Marcotte (playful Knowledge who didn't make it to uni from my standards) finally roll the want to have a date. I sent him to comm lot and scope the room.
"No, not Leilani, she's married and mother of two!".
"No, not this brunette. I'd like you to have some redhair offsprings" - like if simmies always follow my wishes.
"Yes. Grâce Lamontagne, she's blond and not too old. She'll be perfect." - Grâce is a former dormie who is now a townie. She dated Noah's cousin Niel and hoped to marry him. Well, it didn't work out.

Like I said Essa..I don't need to direct them. They just go back to the first one I gave them
As BO said, no 2 games are the same. And it is not because a mod exsist..that there was obviously a worldwide need for it. The modder who did it, thought there was, along with many other players, that's a fact. But what annoys me, might not annoy you, and what i tolerate or find normal, might be very diffrent for someone else. I never felt the need for such mod.
We really put what we want into our game.

Unfortunately not in mine.

Unfortunately??? I don't see what would be the good thing about it but..ok. lol

I too get a lot of single sims having the hots for partnered ones, but as Rosebine said that's common enough IRL. It doesn't follow that either party is going to act on it. What I also get is newly partnered sims having the hots for a parent-in-law. Going by the agony columns in the red tops, that's pretty common in real life too.
