For all the Maxis hoods fanatics, StangeTomato and Meetmetotheriver created a twisted version of Pleasantview for download:

Pleasantview… with a twist
Do you love Pleasantview? Are you bored and looking for something different to do in your game? How about playing Pleasantview… with a twist?

Here’s what you get: Pleasantview as it ships with the game, but with one detail changed that you will have to play to discover.

This hood is a collaboration between @meetmetotheriver and @strangetomato. It’s based on MeetMe’s neighbourhood templates, so all her fixes to the original hood are present. The neighbourhood has been renamed to “TWPV”, so if you are currently playing a Pleasantview, it can co-exist nicely next to that.

I can’t really tell you much else. You’ll have to play it and find out for yourself…

FranH 4th Sep 2018 4:01 AM

Ok, I'll bite. I'm playing "Beginning of PV" so this should be a nice side-play from that. (I just hope that it's not the sexes reversed thing, either. I couldn't figure that one out at all...)

@Sunbee, thanks for that link to hexagonal-bipyramid--I also found a mod there that'll randomize the spectral cat! Plus 'Mean Interactions to any age' will give me more options and combine two separate mods of mine into one.

This, too.

Quote:
With this mod, Sims can add or remove other Sims instantly when using the Ask…/Form Casual Group and Ask…/Leave Casual Group interactions, so your Sim won’t have to go to each person and ask them about joining the group. It will now be faster to create a casual group of Sims to eat at a restaurant for example.

It also bypasses the relationship requirement for Sims to enter a casual group, meaning that you can add any eligible Sims without being rejected.

Works with both scored and unscored outings.

Just Want To Spread The Word

Hello to all members, I am really excited today about a mod that was REALLY needed and have been ask for over the years in WCIF.
I am so happy that member Severino have return back to creating here on MTS this time Severino have added Mods to his creations.

I have always wanted a Community Library in my game, but building one and having it in my game was completely useless.
The Sims including townies would show up at the library and not sat to read, but instead would play water ball or kick ball outside, I could only direct the Sims I was playing to sat and read.

I wanted a Bookcase for the community lot that would Not cause an interfere with the home lot book case. I do know that if you had Freetime Ep I think someone made a mod to make a community library possible.
But what if you don't have Freetime, like me I do have it but removed it because it did not work well in my game.

I then ask Modder Serverino if given the time could he create a Community lot Library mod that would work with my Eps or even with the Base game.
And so yes he did here http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=617702 I am asking that we all give support to Creator Severino and even new Modders that are still creating for Sims 2 players, because now days modders are few in numbers. :lovestruc

joandsarah77 7th Sep 2018 3:53 AM

I looked at it, but I assume it will clash with the autonomous reading mod that I already have. :/

At my library I simply make selectable>make them read.

thisfatfunnylife 7th Sep 2018 5:15 AM

Wow this is great~! Just curious, can you buy individual books from it as well if you were to say own a book store or no? I'm guessing no but just curious

joandsarah77 7th Sep 2018 5:55 AM

@thisfatfunnylife You just need to set a regular bookshelf for sale to sell books, no mod needed.

Justpetro 7th Sep 2018 8:43 AM

I actually think I will use this one - thank you Simonut It looks as if it will suit my play style perfectly.

While there are other options - I love the idea of having certain bookcases that you can use on certain lots (like libraries) and "normal" bookcases where you may not want all the sims to read. This just makes more sense to me than a global mod - on vacation, knowledge sims and sims with the film and literature hobby may still read, but I don't think other sims will read as much when they can lie on the beach or throw axes

mixa97sr 7th Sep 2018 10:54 AM

I'm definitely getting this, thank you so much :D

simsample 7th Sep 2018 11:36 AM

What a great idea, I'll be building a library now!

Sunrader 7th Sep 2018 11:47 AM

Hmm, I already have a library. I wonder why it works. Cool, though. I can never have too many book options.

smorbie1 7th Sep 2018 2:47 PM

Probably because you have freetime. Simonut removed that from her game so she needed the mod, if I read correctly.

Fencing that looks like a row of flowers, etc, by Rosie (I might be able to find if anyone cares). And funny! "Now you can smell your fence". On a dandelion fence, "You like 'um or you don't. But they like YOU". On a bamboo fence "You love palm trees? Well, these are bamboo, get used to disappointment".

From the linked page, explaining that .
Quote:
This system, known as AGS (Annoying Games Suite) will require that Sims have in their inventory, or on the current lot, a relevant buyable permission object related to the activity before they can initiate it. For example, if you get a group of sims on a lot, and one of them has a kickybag in his inventory, the sim with the kickybag can start the game, and any of the others can join it. But none of the others can start the game. If the kickybag permission object was bought and placed anywhere on the lot, any sim on the lot can start a game of kickybag.

Not really an awesome thing, but I just learned how to use mklink to create a junction so I can take my EA Games folder out of My Documents on the C: Drive, and it cleared up a huge chunk of space on my C drive. This is where I saw the idea and I used this video in case you're curious.

How did I not know about this years ago? I was almost at the point of getting a new C drive because I was running out of space. Downloads, here I come!

Since I put my stuff either in the cloud or on the desktop, pretty much the sole purpose of my Documents folder is for TS2. So, if anyone's in the same boat, I'd suggest perhaps moving the entire folder instead of creating a directory junction.

Because I have an external hard drive, I was told a long time ago by a gamer friend to just send "My Docs" to my external drive and as long as the external drive is connected to the computer Sims 2 will load. This is how I have played ever since I started and no worries about how many downloads I have in "My Docs" because they are not on my computer using up space.

There are no descriptions, but it's a massive file-I think everything on this page is hard to find, or has disappeared. It includes some of Chris Hatch's stuff, Sims In Paris, and a lot of other CC that you might be looking for. Of course it's "Caveat Emptor" for all of this:

This isn't exactly a "Sims" thing but if you are trying to learn how to use Gimp, most of the tutorials are not very good. I'm a visual learner who also has to do hands on activities to grasp something. Just reading a tutorial doesn't do it for me.

I came across this Youtube one today and it tells you how to set up the new version and goes slowly step by step. Also, he has a bunch more tutorials. If you're interesting in creating or recoloring with Gimp, definitely check it out.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EPIUyFJ4ag

I hope this helps any of you (like me) who are learning this program which is powerful but not as easy at Paintshop or Photoshop.

Is this good for a whole 'Hood? Because I found this: http://kalisasims.tumblr.com/post/1...owntown-for-ts2

It's closer to the original Sims 1 setup than Broomhilda's, and WAY closer than marka93's flattened-out version. The only drawback is that it comes without any Sims, so you have to (re)make your own. But it's absolutely beautiful.

grammapat 9th Oct 2018 9:01 PM

So what about getting the sims from those hoods; are there any "safe" ones? I've only found some IN THEIR HOUSES, and not sure how clean anything is. Think I'll put this in "WCIF"

Strangetown… with a twist
We’re back again with another twist neighbourhood! Many of us fondly remember the first time we played Strangetown and all the mysteries there to uncover. Why not take a trip back and discover it all again… with a twist?

Here’s what you get: Strangetown as it ships with the game, but with some details changed that you will have to play to discover. As with Pleasantview… with a twist!, there are layers to the twist for you to uncover, with many little details and surprises to find.

This hood is a collaboration between @meetmetotheriver and @strangetomato. It’s based on MeetMe’s re-released neighbourhood templates, so all of her fixes to the original hood are present. The neighbourhood has been renamed to “TWST”, so if you are currently playing a Strangetown, it can co-exist nicely next to that in your Neighbourhoods folder. Please note that this hood is not basegame compatible. Most EPs and M&G Stuff are required.

I can’t really tell you much else. You’ll have to play it and find out for yourself.

Quote:
"Flyable TS4 rocket for TS2. It's cloned from Kate's Hot Air Balloon and uses converted mesh by Early Pleasantview. Now your adult and teen Sims can fly into the space. They will change into astronaut clothes before getting in. There are two versions: Meduza_flying_rocket_bring_stuff and Meduza_flying_rocket_no_bring_stuff. Choose only one! If you choose Meduza_flying_rocket_bring_stuff, Sims with 3 or 4 logic points have 25% chance of bringing with them some aliens, Sims with 5 or more logic points have 50% chance. They can bring live or dead aliens converted by misty-fluff, which are included in required_for_bringing_stuff folder. If you choose Meduza_flying_rocket_no_bring_stuff, you don't need misty-fluff's files, because Sims won't bring anything back.
Your Sims can also tinker their rocket. Based on coin flip, they will do it inside or outside the rocket. They will gain mechanical skill and tinkering enthusiasm from doing it."
"Edit: Now Sims will gain science enthusiasm from flying the rocket."

Edit from me:I tried this out-it works! Pixels will get into the rocket, (it's extremely attractive-the one I had set up in the "Landing Pad" was popular) it will lift up about to 50-75 feet (you should have enabled-Large lot distance to see it) and then slowly come back down.

They do change into astronaut costumes and Darrell Walton discovered a dead blue slug to bring back in a jar, just like the bug collection. (I included the 'collect things' in it.)
Awesome!

I visited SimNopke's Tumblr for the first time in a long time to check out unreleased shinies and found default replacement skies!!! Awesome!!! There are 6 files (Autumn, Lot - Day, Neighborhood, Night, Overcast, Snowy). Also a default sun and moon, but I like the ones I already have, so I didn't check those out. You can still use existing skyboxes/skydomes with these skies. I tried some and they seem to work just fine. Nopke describes these as "blurry," but they look gorgeous to me! No more plain boring blank skies!
:lovestruc:

Neighborhood skies appear to use the same textures/images as the lot skies. The main neighborhood/lot-day sky seems to be heavy overcast on one side and blue sky with puffy clouds on the other. I haven't seen the Autumn or Overcast skies yet.

EDIT: I attached a screenshot of the "overcast" sky which is used during rain/thunderstorms. I don't have a screenshot of the Autumn sky. It looks very similar to the default day sky, but hazier. Nopke's zip file also includes a darker default for the moon and an invisible one for the sun. The invisible sun looks much better with these skies. Other suns look a bit odd superimposed on the clouds.

Those who don't have Seasons might be able to use just day, night and "NHD" (neighborhood) skies.

ugh! I wanted those but every time I clicked on them (on the site), it tried to give me inside jokes instead.

For business owners, BoilingOil has a mod to pass their business rewards to family members here:
Quote:
With this mod, in addition to household members, your active sim can also Pass Along their Business Rewards to their Parents, their Siblings, or their Children, even if they live in different households. All other family members are excluded from this change, but that is not a big problem. Your aunt or uncle is the sibling of one of your parents, after all... There's always a way.

For those who use the cellar fridge, there is a bottle-enabled version here.
