Wow! I'm very intrigued by it and look forward to seeing the rest of it.
There's been so many older style homes posted on this thread recently. It's like Sims heaven for me. Although now, I do feel the need to go out and break the trend by coming up with a thoroughly modern design.

Johnny_Bravo 28th Feb 2014 3:31 PM

Not really thread related but..

I'm almost crying, for real

I'm going to try and rescue in in my game.

Ferguson Avenue 1st Mar 2014 12:04 PM

There's so many houses like that which are breaking my heart.

It's finished. With a cost of 437k, It's fucking finished!

This picture is a tad overdone, it's going to be the 'main' picture. I need a name

Ferguson Avenue 7th Mar 2014 12:39 AM

Wow... It's truly stunning. As for the name, it feels like a Hollywood Hills type mansion, so I think the name should be along those lines.

TudorMan23 8th Mar 2014 4:41 PM

WOW! So many new buildings and they all are gorgeous with respect to the style!!! UGH!!! And I don't like that I cant play right now!

AS of right now I am updating the DirectX! Hopefully this works!

Ferguson Avenue 8th Mar 2014 8:40 PM

How about one of these names?:
Villa Mondovi
Villa Novara
Villa Bussoleno
Villa Alba
Villa Lodi
Villa Dronero
Villa Arenzano
Villa Cascina
Villa Biella
Villa Saluzzo
I just borrowed some names of places in western Italy. There's a lot more to choose from if you take a look at a map of Italy.

Johnny_Bravo 10th Mar 2014 5:57 PM

I now sumbitted it as 'Classic Hollywood'. Might change that, then. Thanks Angel

You're welcome.
I've started work on a more modern design inspired by a real building on my university's campus:

Johnny_Bravo 10th Mar 2014 9:55 PM

Looks like something 60's inspired. Is it going to be a dorm or an apartment? I'm not sure about the columns, though. Maybe some square ones?

Tudor I hope you can play again, soon!

I've also decided to abandon the chateauesque mansion, and built something French inspired instead. At least I'll try

Ferguson Avenue 11th Mar 2014 2:02 PM

I think it was built in the 90's/00's as the current campus isn't that old since the uni has moved all over the county before ending up in the city. It's the science building as opposed to any form of residence, but I'll see what I can do with the interior to make it a residence, or maybe another ballroom, idk.
Yeah, Tudor, I hope you will be able to play the game again soon.
Bravo, I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I've been working on a couple of smaller homes inspired by real ones in the town of Watertown, TN, each seen briefly in the music video for 'Tornado' by Little Big Town. The first one is already uploaded. I'm kinda procrastinating working on bigger projects and also doing lab reports for Uni.

The 2nd house looks promising already. I've had no inspiration for any French home at all. I've started this Plantation Villa. I think I'll restart it on a bigger lot (the current one is 30x40), though.

I finally came around downloading dDefiner's lighting tweaks again. Looks freaking amazing!

Ferguson Avenue 16th Mar 2014 12:17 PM

Well it looks very good so far. If you need any reference pictures for the interior, I would recommend taking a quick look at some of these.

Johnny_Bravo 16th Mar 2014 2:15 PM

I was thinking about Django while making a new house. So my thought's about it having a fancy interior wasn't wrong
The current one is much bigger and sits on 64x64 lot, though.

Well I look forward to seeing it. Meanwhile, I've been working on finishing one of my more modern styled homes. I've even starting thinking up the story behind it.

TudorMan23 21st Mar 2014 1:52 AM

WOW! Just WOW!!! All your work is amazing!

Johnny, your villa is stunning! The detail is impeccable! And the plantation is lovely! Love the roofline!
Fergie: your few lots look great!

And Yes I am working on it! Hopefully I will be back playing very soon!

The new Plantation came out a tad different. Okay I lied, it's new design is completely different and it's slightly bigger. I'm not sure about the brick facade and it's overall cream/peach color.

Also, new renaissance-ish building. Might be something from 18kick-my-balls

Ferguson Avenue 25th Mar 2014 8:47 PM

The Plantation seems to evolved considerably, it feels a whole lot more modern. I like what you've done with the bases of the columns though. That was rather clever.

TudorMan23 25th Mar 2014 10:39 PM

YES, Your Plantation has grown, lol! I concur with Fergie Love how you did the BASES of the columns, very clever and as the color hmm...
but your so, new renaissance-ish building looks very authentic to me! Love the formal entry!

Hopefully tonight I'll be back up and running again.

New Craftsman because someone introduced me to B5Studios

And because I'm stupid, I made this one, HEAVILY inspired by the Nottoway Plantation in Louisiana, White Castle.

Fergus, don't tell me that this Plantation looks more modern because the Nottoway Plantation was built in the 1850's

Ferguson Avenue 29th Mar 2014 11:23 AM

The Nottoway Plantation is one of my favourite houses in the whole wide world, I'm glad someone's finally doing something similar to it, it's a shame that the grand staircases leading up to the front porch aren't very easy to recreate. I must say that I loathe the interior of the place though, when I happened across it in one of my books I must say that I was disgusted that such a thing could be done to such a house. It desperately needs some period wallpaper and colour, it screams out for it. I'm currently working on a similar house that would sit quite happily in the Garden District of New Orleans, LA, so it looks quite similar to what you've done here. Your Craftsman is really adorable too. But please don't drown the Nottoway Planation in white paint like in real life.

Johnny_Bravo 30th Mar 2014 3:09 AM

Being honest, I'd say that you shouldn't say that you're disgusted, but rather sad about what they've done, because it's one if the few plantation mansions which survived the civil war. I'm also glad that it didn't have the same faith as Bella grove.
Just my alcohol influenced mind speaking, though

TudorMan23 3rd Apr 2014 5:14 AM

Johnny, your Craftsman is very adorable and well done! The detail is spot on and I love the colors!
Your Plantation is very grandiose! and does have the feel of Nottoway Plantation! And I agree with Fergie please don't drown it in white!

And I am still working on getting my game back up and running, now I am having compatibility issues! UGH! this is so annoying!

Tudor, for how long do you have these issues already, damn. I've just Bios overclocked my Processor and currently my pc completely freezes a lot and I had serveral Bluescreens

I've started to build on the lot next the 'Nottoway'. Result was a sister home. This is what I got before I had a Bluescreen:

Rotundas facing each other.
