Probably just sloppy coding when they added OFB. It doesn't appear under serve if you don't have a cornucopia, only the make-menu.

my question about fences/jealousy (post #342); found out the answer either last night or this morning. fences do prevent non-WooHoo romantic interactions from being witnessed.

my question about resurrecting a dead sim that has a urn/tombstone (posts #342 & #364), I was asking about all resurrection methods; not just the career reward from University.

How many roommates are your apartment dwellers allowed? Gloopy Gilsgob... Gilsab... oh whatever his last name is, he is lonely and longs for a roommate. Strangely though he gets a debug menu upon selecting a roommate temporarily for about half a second gets the roommate and then they vanish. Afterwards he can no longer can find one. I will investigate and try to find the root of this error. More of a help question than a random one.

But still how many would he be allowed assuming he could get one. (My guess is the potential roommate is like "Goopy? No thank you. I'd rather flat with the zombie in the neighboring apartment")

gummilutt 3rd Apr 2016 12:44 AM

Vanilla code only allows one roomie per apartment. There's a mod by Squinge that allows you to have multiple roommates, although rent does not go down more with more roommates.

Thank you. I had a feeling it was one due to the missing option after the error.

I have never enjoyed playing apartments, but I enjoy building them. So give me some tips: which mods do you recommend to play apartments? I think I am ready to give them a second chance

nikel23 3rd Apr 2016 2:47 PM

Didn't mean to offend you, BO. Like Simsample said, I was referring to the cornucopia. Simbology is awesome and I just finished modding spree there earlier this morning!

Multiple roommates by Squinge! All the benefits of a large household, without having to actually control all of them. I had Max Flexor move into an apartment with three guy friends, and it was a blast. If you have roommates, smartbeds by twojeffs is almost mandatory. They have trouble autonomously using a bed, even though they are supposed to do so. If you have smartbeds, and you direct them to use the bed that is theirs (boolprop controlpets on cheat lets you control roomies) a couple of times, they will eventually catch on and start using their bed autonomously.

I personally also like apthack by Pescado, because it makes you have to pay for the furniture when you move in. I prefer it when my Sims have to pay for things, it gives more of a challenge to balance earning money with all the other things they want to do.

Aside from that, I recommend having many different types of apartments, to fit different kinds of Sims. I have everything from shabby to luxurious, tiny to very big. There are traditional apartments in multi-story buildings, and there are separate homes which are more like row houses or bungalows. Some lots have no communal area, others have all kinds of stuff. Gyms, laundry rooms, playgrounds for the kids. You say you like building, so perhaps you want to build your own, but otherwise I highly recommend Karen Lorraine's and Liv's apartments here on MTS. Karen has a wonderful modern style, the floor plans are excellent, and they are always very meticulously decorated. Liv's are also very modern, but in a different way. Tiny, and cramped, but in a good way. Somehow she fits all the essentials on very little space, all of it with an IKEA-flair that this Swede can't get enough of. Both of them are excellent builders, and you'd be hard pressed not to enjoy apartments if it's one of theirs :D

I wasn't offended, Nikel23. Don't worry about it.

Justpetro 3rd Apr 2016 4:16 PM

Thank you, Gummilutt

Is the cornucopia that horn-like basket thing? Probably small enough to put somewhere. (I think somebody has made a giant one somewhere )

BoilingOil 3rd Apr 2016 5:14 PM

@Justpetro: Yup!

Lili975 3rd Apr 2016 5:35 PM

Petro, I think the only mod I use for apartment lots is Squinge's Tenants stay later. In most apartments households, I also unlock the door so I don't even need roommates because the neighbours are almost always hanging out in my sim's apartment.
If I have two families of playables on the same lot, it feels like Friends (sadly, without Gunther)

Speaking of them, Max Flexor and Mitch Indie live that way in one of my hoods and they love it (they share a flat). And as much as those two morons are boring to play on their own, they're indeed great sims when they're part of a bigger group (and maxis put them in that silly divided house, when they're natural born dorm material!)

To be enjoyable that way of playing probably requires additional mods though, to prevent neighbours from just using your computer for hours until they leave for work, slap dance or torture the piano until they pass out, and other similar annoying behaviours. I use a lot of anti-autonomy mods.

Are the odds of a male sim becoming pregnant from alien abduction 100%? I've had a male sim abducted twice now and he's not come back pregnant on either occasion.

I did install some hacks yesterday and though none were related to aliens or pregnancy, I'm worried one of these has caused it. I had alien pregnancy a couple of weeks ago, so of there's an issue it's connected to these latest hacks I'm guessing.

WildIrishBanshee 3rd Apr 2016 7:14 PM

I think I heard that they changed it, but I could be wrong - or it may have just been with the summon aliens perk and I'm confusing the two. Maybe someone else will know more. But you can always try removing the hacks and testing.

Justpetro 3rd Apr 2016 7:15 PM

Thanks, Lili975 - I think I will start with a tiny apartment with 2 units or so, and move a Sim in each. (Those two morons - hehe )

Ice_Elf 3rd Apr 2016 8:51 PM

@WildIrishBanshee Ok, so I tested using a different sim with all hacks still installed, this time using the summon aliens perk, and got alien pregnancy twice. The precious abductions had been natural ones. So either it isn't a 100% pregnancy rate, or there was an issue with that sim - although he was ages away from being an adult and the only sim in the household, so still baffled.

The other issue would be if I've got a hack that stops pregnancies from occurring if the abduction is random but although I know nothing about coding, I suspect that wouldn't be possible...

BoilingOil 3rd Apr 2016 8:55 PM

@Ice_Elf: "ages away from being an adult"... are you implying that he was a teen or young adult? Then I'm not surprised that he didn't get knocked up! The vanilly abduction routine ONLY knocks up *adult* males, and it's indeed a 100% rate!

It's definitely possible, although the only mods I know off stop them regardless of if they are random or initiated by debug mode.

Ages from being an elder, I meant.

He was on his second day of adulthood, living alone, so when he got abducted - as I was hoping for - and didn't hear the chimes, I was confused. Then it happened a second time.

But then it worked in the same hood with the same model telescope, the only difference being a different sim and the use of the summon aliens perk.

@gummilutt If it is a hack, it's something unrelated that's affecting it. I have ACR and same sex pregnancy, and a hack allowing community lot telescopes, but I've had natural abduction pregnancy with all of those before. I've double checked my hacks folder and there's nothing else in there that directly affects pregnancy or abductions.

There was some suggestion that Freetime altered the percentage chance of pregnancy through alien abduction. I have no idea if that is the case, but my (adult male) sims don't always return pregnant after being abducted by aliens (could well be something to do with mods, I have no idea). I use the SimBlender to make them pregnant by aliens when they return from the abduction, so I've never bothered to try to work out why pregnancy doesn't always occur.

Ah, as soon as you say Adult, while you mean Elder, of course people are going to misunderstand... In that case, completely ignore my previous message, please. It is no longer valid.

Lili975 3rd Apr 2016 11:51 PM

I don't have ACR, I have no pregnancy related mods, no hacked telescopes, and 100% of my male sims get pregnant from alien abductions. Did with less EPs, still do with all EPs.

Justpetro 3rd Apr 2016 11:55 PM

Some of my Sims have been abducted the first time they go near a telescope - others had to wait longer; some got pregnant, some did not - and, yes, I think it is totally random.

(My one Sim came back pregnant from holiday once - and he was not abducted - and gave birth to alien twins too )

Gcgb53191 4th Apr 2016 12:20 AM

Does messing around with the 'set hour' cheat make the vacation shuttle arrive earlier?

My shuttle arrived at 1AM for some reason and that has never happened before.

The pregnancy is definitely not random unless hacked otherwise.
