That is what I found, Jo - but I am still experimenting.

joandsarah77 15th Jan 2016 10:38 AM

Yeah, I don't like that. I'm thinking of trying Gadwin.

Justpetro 15th Jan 2016 10:41 AM

I have never used Fraps, so I cannot tell you if it is better or not

siletka 15th Jan 2016 5:58 PM

You can change the key it uses for taking shots. And the folder it points to. Its all in the preferences. Just go through the preferences tab by tab. Set the key for a Window screenshot, not full screen.

Gadwin doesn't do full screen on Win 7. I had to start using Fraps to take in-game pictures since I play in full screen and couldn't get Gadwin to take full screen pictures. The free version of Fraps does let you change the button pressed to take a picture (in the Screenshot section), and it goes to the Fraps folder.

Crisps&Kerosene's 1t2 Produce Stand - it is designed to sell Seasons fruit/vegetables (individually or in bulk in 5's, 10's or 25's) when used on an unowned community lot....

Actually, I just took a full screen shot in Sims 2 with Gadwin. (I have Windows 10, but I do not think that will matter). I simply opened it before I opened the game. I then clicked the icon again to bring up the menu, and started Sims 2, and voila! the screenshot came out nice and clear. It still minimizes the game, though, so that you can accept the screenshot - I will see if I can find a way to change that. But I do like the way Gadwin works and I think between Windows 10 screenshots and Gadwin, I will be fine

I have now experimented quite a bit - even tried Frapps too - and I think I will stay with Gadwin.

smorbie1 15th Jan 2016 6:44 PM

Oooh! Thank you Laurate! My sims 1 conversions always seem to be lacking.

That isn't the issue, putting my game down is, especially during a cutscene. If that is what is does I can't use it.

It does matter. I have Windows 7 and never have been able to get a full screen shot with Gadwin. They may have changed something between Windows 7 and Windows 10 to let Gadwin get the full screen shot, but I have to use Fraps to get a full screen shot (and cut scene screen shots.)

It doesn't put the game down if you change your settings to do window screenshot . And disable notifications, and make it automatically point to a folder.

Look at the settings.

joandsarah77 15th Jan 2016 11:27 PM

Okay. how do I do all of that?

smorbie1 16th Jan 2016 2:04 AM

I hope I don't hurt feelings here, but maybe it's time to start another thread dedicated to to this screen-grabby thing. I'm sorry, please don't take offense; I'm just thinking that your discussion about it has sort of taken on a life of its own and deserves its own thread with a title that will draw in others who have questions about it. I, myself, got confused along about the second entry and decided to never try to use any of the programs mentioned because of my innate stupidity about all things computer. But others probably could use the info you guys are disseminating. :lovestruc

This is me, even downloading the thing gave me anxiety because I knew, I knew it would give me grief. <_< And it didn't fail to deliver! Another thread is also a very good idea. My stupidity involves more than computers it involves anything at least bit electric gadgety/ remote controlled activated.

There is one. I asked about this sorta thing a few days ago

joandsarah77 16th Jan 2016 3:03 AM

Must have not noticed. Thanks for the link.

siletka 16th Jan 2016 6:36 AM

Jo, pm me and I'll try to help. I didn't want to keep taking over the thread and I'm not home right now. It'll be better that way.

PlyPlay665 16th Jan 2016 7:11 AM

So I'd been avoiding this thread because I knew that I'd go on an insane download frenzy but I was laying in bed and couldn't sleep so I thought, "eh, I'll just take a tiny peek." Worst. Decision. Ever. How am I going to sleep knowing all of these amazing downloads are waiting for my game!?!?!?

smorbie1 16th Jan 2016 10:28 AM

You can sleep when you're dead. Right now is SHOPPING time!

From reading the description I *think* that it works on owned lots as well, but I'm not sure. I haven't had the chance to try it out in game yet. I rarely play owned shops, so I am most excited about being able to use it on unowned community lots - there are other ways to sell the Seasons crops on owned lots, anyway. But I do hope it works on both! :-)

EddySims just uploaded a default replacement computer screen on his tumblr! It's gorgeous! You can find it here!

What I would be curious to know is if she's a Northern Cali or a Southern one like me :D

simmer22 19th Jan 2016 5:57 PM

About the Gadwin/printscreen issue - I've used Gadwin for a while, and I actually had the black screen problem somewhat randomly with XP, too. Ever since I switched computer(s) I've played windowed, and Gadwin works fine. Playing windowed also takes care of problems like having to put the game down when you want to access other programs or the picture folder, and everything don't get stretched (Sims and widescreen isn't always that good of a combo). Took a little while to get used to, but now I don't want to switch back.

Bubblebeam 20th Jan 2016 4:04 PM

Speaking of custom cameras, anyone know of a CAS camera that lets you zoom in and out fully on every panel/subpanel? For instance, when I try on handbags in the accessory panel, even with my custom camera I can't zoom out enough to see that handbag properly.

They're from quite a while ago, but I only came across these recently and I really like them! They're Cemetery Grave Plaques by Rocket Horse Sims. The post that I've linked explained how they're intended to be used. There are also several templates included so that it's easier to make your own, with pictures of your own sims. I think they're a great idea! :-)

PS: Image is from Rocket Horse Sims' Simblr :-)

FranH 21st Jan 2016 1:31 AM

I saw this at Sims Cave, and followed the link.

Download if you really want to punish yourself: 'The Blind Needs Challenge'
It hides all the needs of your pixels...so you have to guess at what they're really feeling. Good luck with that!

PenelopeT 21st Jan 2016 1:35 AM

Those of you who are bored with your game, like a challenge, need a challenge, hate your sims, love your sims but like making their lives harder, don't have to be in complete control or just want to spice things up a bit should take a look at The Blind Needs Challenge (the download locks everything on the motives/needs panel).

It looks pretty awesome (the posting came across my Tumblr feed today) and I will definitely be giving it a go the next time I fire up the game.

Edit: I was Ninja'd by Fran.

For the first time I'm glad I can't log on to Sims Cave. It's hard for me to imagine something I would hate more. But, if that's your cup of tea, let us know how it goes.

I love adding things that make the game harder, but make no mistake about it...I will be trying this out on a test hood first.

Also for those simmers who are deaf or hard of hearing and use a cochlear implant, I found one that you could use as an accessory for your sims. It is here . I'm not sure if you can view it without registering though.

How could I live without BO's customized compost bin? It's one of those little things that are simply wonderful!
Not only because now the compost bin holds more units (so it's less likely my Sims will need to buy several ones as used to happen) but also because now its contents are easier to check.
I love it!

I also want to check Monique's Auto Tending Compost mod, looks like an awesome idea.

Picture that changes as you look at it!

When thanking MTS creators for some adult female athletic wear I'd downloaded, I thought I'd check the profile of one of those creators, joebart622 (AKA JB), and stumbled across this very unusual picture, which evidently transitions as you look at it (!). JB uploaded it exactly 10 years ago today, and the incredible thing is that (unless the counter has glitched) it says it's only been downloaded 34 times in those 10 years.

I haven't tried it out in my own game yet, and in fact at the time of posting, I haven't even downloaded it yet, but it's so unusual I felt I just had to draw everyone's attention to it. I can hardly believe that so few people have tried it out in all that time. Had it been uploaded on 1st April, I wouldn't have believed it, but no, it was uploaded on 19th April 2006 -- exactly 10 years ago today!

BoilingOil 19th Apr 2016 1:48 PM

@AndrewGloria, if you look at the number of downloads behind each of the separate files, you get a different idea about the number of times it has been accessed. Higher than 34, but still extremely low.

maxon 19th Apr 2016 7:46 PM

The counter for that almost certainly got reset in the Great MTS Database Crash of whenever it was - when Delphy reloaded the backed up database, there was a lot of stuff went missing.

If it's redundant or useless, then the mods can delete.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, guys but it is sort of similar to a Sims 3 website I love. You can look at it for yourself.
I found it very helpful to find "ethnic" hair which can be very elusive in Sims. Hope it's helpful when you are making your Simmies.

Well lookee that - I have thought to myself about whether I could modify Chris Hatch's original for myself but that saves me a whole world of pain. Nice stuff there from Hat. Yessirreee, Little Carping and Polgannon are about to get religion (and a whole pile of religious hypocrites).

oh, tempting. Something to read over. If Hat tweaked it, it must be good.

Edit: Wow that's huge. I do use harder grades and I do have a mod that stops actions dropping from cue after using an elevator, is that a 'path finding' mod?

It is tempting me too, but sounds way too involved for me. I doubt I would be able to remember all the intricacies.

joandsarah77 1st May 2016 12:29 AM

I think since it prompts you on loading a lot that it would not be too hard. I guess if you add it in and don't use it very often you would simply end up with sims of low faith. The one point is it is hard to have differing faiths at the same house. Also what if you want the sim to have no faith? I think it will need more reading over than what I have done and not while my head is fuzzy, I think I picked up on my daughter bug.

Quote:

I've had both CH's original Religion mod, and now I've got Hat's..and I must say Hat's is the superior one, because it isn't as intricate as it looks if you're used to having a mod that will change behaviors. It's also a lot less sexy, which while I can appreciate the idea, it's a bit of a drag on a neighborhood when using the original. I prefer my religion to be simple and straightforward-Hat's fills the bill.

Once I installed both parts (which is required for the mod to really work) it was simply a matter of setting up the households, creating the religions and voila, instant better behavior..or sort of. I do have 2 separate lots which fulfill the two different religions, and their 'tenet's.

I also had rather set it up beforehand, knowing that Hat was working on this mod, hoping that she'd get it done-and it is simply lovely.

I admit my reading was a cursory scan through but Hat seemed to be saying that many 'clashing' mods can be resolved, if you want to keep them, by loading after the religion mod. I have harder grades too and would like to keep it.

natboopsie 1st May 2016 1:29 AM

Me too, as a user of the harder grades mod who won't give it up. In fact, I was recently thrilled to discover that harder grades even works with Cyjon's Harder Homework. Because you know...more harderness is more happiness. (Eh, perhaps not for the sims...)

I do think Hat is awesome. I remember bookmarking her big post on her age mod ("It's the Proportion," I remember it being called) because I just liked her writing and explaining style so much that I wanted to take it all in, even though I didn't think I'd use the mod. And indeed I don't use it, but the post sure was an enjoyable and highly informative read. And as with this new, big mod, I was utterly impressed at her ability to create something so significant (her age mod had all sorts of add-ons, like to help resolve ACR's fertility curve in conjunction with it---I found that not just thorough but even proactive, if you see what I mean, about other players' experiences).

BTW, thank you very much, FranH, for mentioning this new creation that Hat's offering. I love this community for exactly that: I learn things I'd never know about otherwise.

For me, partly because of the potential conflicts but mainly because I don't see a pressing need, I am choosing not to add any version of the religion mod now. My hood's pretty darn complex already...and if the ultimate result of this mod is to possibly remove bad behaviors, that probably won't quite do it for me. If certain behavior really bothers me, I've already modded it out. And if it bothers me enough to have modded it out, I don't want the sims doing it at all, whether I had time to help them maintain their faith that week or not.

But in real life, I do not frequently practice religion. So I am sure that is influencing my assessment here of whether it is a component I need in my game yet.

Diovanlestat 1st May 2016 6:32 AM

I've been pondering the religion thing for years after seeing what Hatch provided...
Hat's creates even more problems for me.. because i'd really like both mods combined.. ah well, no hurry, I just keep pondering.

There are two parts to Hat's version. The basic one which is the master and includes the simple rules (nothing else needed). But then she's gone further, she's taken all the expansions and looked for bad behaviour and now they can be discouraged as part of whatever religious set up. Part 2 includes things like discouraging streaking and cheating at uni. You pick and choose a module based on whatever expansion you would like the mod to cover.

Two finds I'm excited about.

First, in this thread I mentioned using Dizzy's Have a Leftover hack with my UC game to force any sim autonomously about to make food to get a leftover from the fridge instead. (It's great, works smoothly---they go to the fridge with "Have" or "Serve" in their queue and trigger the leftovers dialogue automatically when they get there.)

Now I've found not just that hack by Dizzy but a link at Garden of Shadows to his (?) entire trove of most recently updated hacks, good through AL. No registration required, and those folks even kindly posted a link to the documentation for the many hacks included in the file. Wahoo! (Edit to clarify: See ilikefishfood's post for both the documentation and the "Magic AL7" zip file. Inside the zip, Have a Leftover is the leftover-hack2.package...and I'm finding lots of other intriguing hacks too!)
ETA, over a year later: Annaminna mentioned elsewhere just recently that she had found this additional page by ilikefishfood. I see that it's an even more user-friendly interface for getting both the readmes for all of Dizzy's AL hacks and the hacks themselves (which are in one big ZIP). And still requires no registration! So thank you, Annaminna, for pointing out the new page (she modestly said it wasn't she but Google that had found it, but you know, Google doesn't work without a searcher ). And there's still great stuff in there; Dizzy had some excellent ideas.

Second, just stumbled across a hack by Monique: Cured of Lycanthropy Spam Hack.

I only have a few supernaturals in my game: plantsims and werewolves and "fairies" (anyone born with pointed ears). No one seems to be bothered by the plantsims (probably because it's just Maxis-made Daisy Greenman and her mom), but I'm finding it pretty unbalanced how everyone gets persistent wants to have werewolves be cured. Especially because I want certain Knowledge sims to be werewolves at least long enough to be able to run, and I want others to stay were because it just suits them.

Despite that...I have never before found any other hack that tries to specifically limit lycanthropy-cure wants. And I've looked! So I am so glad that exists and hope knowing about it will help someone else.

I haven't yet tested that Monique one yet but will soon, so I'll report back and edit the post if it doesn't work.

natboopsie 3rd May 2016 4:41 AM

And something else: a link to all of JFade's rescued programs and hacks. (I saw on another thread that someone had been looking without success for the Compressorizer, so it seemed worth posting the link.)

JFade wrote the amazing Compressorizer (a program you run outside the game that shrinks .package files down to minimum size, keeping your Downloads folder size manageable; it's amazing how much stuff is still out there that can be shrunk by sometimes 2/3 the size on a run through the Compressorizer!), the famous Wardrobe Wrangler, and also the Collection Maker (make in-game collections outside the game). And lots of other hacks and objects and even some recolors.

When you go to that link, if you do want all of JFade's work, you want the first link, which is an archive our member marka put together (thank you, marka!). If you just want a specific well-known program or hack, you might try the second link, which lists a few for individual download---and also were all put up out of the private collections of folks on that site. (Aren't simmers great?)

Edited to add: Make sure you're aware of the warnings about the Compressorizer; I've summed up the ones I know about in this post .

Edited further to add: In case it's ever needed, I found yet another place where Compressorizer and Wardrobe Wrangler are being made available for download. Almighty Hat has made Mediafire links for both, from this page on her blog (you have to scroll down a ways to Resources, or you can just search the page for "Resources" and then find it under that heading).

Despite that...I have never before found any other hack that tries to specifically limit lycanthropy-cure wants. And I've looked! So I am so glad that exists and hope knowing about it will help someone else.

There's also Pescado's "Wants & Fears Sanity", which has this list of features:

ANNOYANCES FIXED:
Tons of sanity and personality checks added to wants, including:
1. No longer will want to play/etc. with people who aren't here. (Talk OK)
2. Knowledge sims no longer obsessed with attempted suicide unless low ASP.
3. Supernatural creatures no longer want to cure others of type.
4. Flirting with ugly and inappropriate people discouraged.
5. Cannot fear being caught cheating unless actually cheating.
6. Extremely implausible events with no history not feared.
Ex: Death of non-elder in neighborhood with no history of unnatural death.
Becoming enemies with best friends with no history of best friend loss.
7. No obsession with unaccessible pets.
8. Skating no longer valid want unless rink actually present.
9. Only kids and silly non-neat people want to balloon/snowball fight.
10. Very mean sims no longer actually WANT to give gifts.
11. Snow activities require presence of actual snow!

(Further explanation of #4: "It means that the flirt want will not appear for every single target of the sim's orientation, especially if his reaction to that sim is to barf at the sight of them. Only appropriate sims which are actually attractive to the sim will be wanted.")

There are other "annoyances fixed" by this mod, but you'll have to read the rest of the thread below to find them mentioned.

Support thread with explanations of what it does here:

I checked and the linked file appears to be the same for Seasons and later EPs.

Monique's hack only deals with the specific lycanthropy wants (which some people may prefer if they only want to deal with one of these problems at a time).

For people who want to make a stadium but don't want to use cfe cheats to make bleachers, here are deco bleachers , you can't sit on them but they look nice.

Thanks for mentioning wfsanity in conjunction with the Monique mod! As I was just saying over here when Charity also listed the features for wfsanity, Pescado's mod is indeed terrific, though it does not quite do everything it says. (I put the specifics in the other post and also added some recommendations there for other mods that strengthen or complement what wfsanity does in specific instances.)

And I'll also take the opportunity to report now that Monique's mod works great with wfsanity, cutting down the lycanthropy spam wants far below what wfsanity does. I'm thrilled. Less want spam is always good.

Monique's mod should load after wfsanity, by the way.

For those who want more neighborhood deco objects, look here . The site seems to be in russian, but it's obvious what you are getting.
EDIT: Also here

Just found a site with a lot of good things here. I foresee making camping grounds in my sim-future. I don't think I've seen a sleeping bag sims could use before.

Just be careful if you're using Pescado's Macrotastics. Apparently combining the toxic plants and that hack will combine to make your sims drop like fruit flies. There's a nontoxic version of the herbs and spices available.

joandsarah77 4th Aug 2016 12:18 AM

Good point, since I would not touch macrotastics with a barge pole I tend to forget.

Devon Aster 4th Aug 2016 4:55 AM

I keep going back and forth on whether to go for the herbs & spices and dump macrotastics. I only got macrotastics because it was required by another of Pescado's mods (Business Runs You, I think?), but I ended up never using the second mod. I do occasionally use macro for cleaning/gardening/repairing. That's pretty much it, though.

Justpetro 4th Aug 2016 11:59 AM

I like macrotastics myself - I especially like the macro socialize option when there are a lot of Sims in a family - at least one or two of them can keep visitors busy without doing something stupid behind my back. And I do appreciate Sims chatting away in a swimming pool The macro clean option comes in handy for my soldiers since they have to clean their homes all by themselves.

I don't think the new sets I linked to cause this issue, that was the other set. Also wasn't it only the toxic herbs?

Devon Aster 4th Aug 2016 3:43 PM

Yeah, it's the toxic ones combined with macrotastics that's deadly. At the time I was considering the sets, I was wanting to set up some 'wilderness' lots and I kinda liked the realism of having similar but poisonous plants scattered in. I think someone also mentioned the toxic ones are intended to come into play later with craftable potions or something.

Released just two days ago : Crispsandkerosene remade the TS1 Oxygen Bar for Sims 2!

Download it here: http://simfileshare.net/download/102614/

RoxEllen1965 5th Aug 2016 7:32 PM

The Crispsandkerosene blog mentioned above also has a Sims 2 version of the gold-plated David statue in boxer shorts and the tragic clown painting (lowers mood/motives - painting requires OFB because it's based on the evil snapdragon). I must have that statue for the Mashuga family in Marka93's Old Town!

Download them here: http://simfileshare.net/download/101010/

I opened this thread with my Downloads folder open and I wasn't dissapointed.

joandsarah77 10th Aug 2016 3:31 PM

I love how the last three finds are all Crispsandkerosene. Seems we have a fan club.

FranH 11th Aug 2016 1:26 AM

Oh, but remember to download the fix for the "joke book" that was in the last mention...the coding was a bit wonky. This is the updated book: CandK_FuctionalJokeBook.package.

joandsarah77 11th Aug 2016 1:35 AM

I did, I saw C&K's post on it.

Once upon a time Criquette made a set of horizons to go into the game. They were later removed from their download page, but Withered Lillies brought Criquette's Horizons back with recolors and they're pretty darn nice!

HonokaAizawa 15th Aug 2016 3:54 PM

Just found this at Plumb Bob Keep:

My body is ready... *w*

FranH 16th Aug 2016 5:41 AM

To be frank, that entire set just blew my mind-because there's never been any thing like a growing tree in this game..every plant is static (more or less-Seasons does have seasons, after all) but to actually grow, and bigger than the EA tree?!
Rather amazing set..I just can't wrap my mind around the notion of the game actually acting like real life!

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THESE! Thank you!

joandsarah77 16th Aug 2016 11:42 PM

Oh my goodness a growing tree. You know I nearly missed it thinking it was the 'Giving Tree' that I had seen before!

FranH 17th Aug 2016 6:23 AM

Now, for the real treat about the Horizons download-it shows up in neighborhood view! Although it is a little bit shaky (after all, this was done a long time ago..) if you put the lot view on the maximum setting, you will see the effect of the horizons. Absolutely gorgeous, and it really gives a more realistic look to your neighborhood.

I love it.

joandsarah77 17th Aug 2016 8:08 AM

I use the one by Nimi, that's under hood deco so shows up in both. Might even be recolours of the same globe, original was by Psychosims.

mustluvcatz 17th Aug 2016 10:53 AM

No, criquette's horizons are different. The other globes all sit over the terrain. The horizons sit under the terrain. (As in the mesh is actually under and around the hood.)

joandsarah77 17th Aug 2016 12:03 PM

How are Criquett's meshed?

simsample 17th Aug 2016 12:15 PM

Criquette's:
http://i44.tinypic.com/15ed1z.jpg
Nim's (Psychosims):
http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/nimi...96_original.jpg

Both go under the terrain to some extent.

FranH 17th Aug 2016 1:04 PM

The usual skyglobes are nice, but they don't seem to completely cover the sky over a lot-and the "SkyMog" type of lot limits the actions on a lot-you can't jump from house to house with them on it.
For that reason, I'd love them to be redone ala Criquette's variation..but I'm not holding my breath. It's a pretty big mod.

I'm not sure that's possible just by retexturing, as Criquette's object doesn't extend as high in the sky as the Psychosims skyglobes. So you'd just have a stripe of sky texture above the horizon. However, I used both objects in one of my neighbourhoods.
Hood view:

Lot view:

The skyglobe I used is hood based, not lot based, so you can jump from lot to lot whilst using it.
