True. It wouldn't look like a pond or river or anything, but would putting the house on a huge swimming pool work? Is it possible to do that? Can windows be put on the walls of swimming pools? It would be interesting for the basement (under the water) to have windows underwater.

i dont know, the pond feeling is the best enviroment to make house boats / boats, because it looks so natural, but if you take swimming pools i dont think it will come out okay... you can try, but i think your answer will be negative.. =/

Naeniver 14th Jun 2009 4:59 AM

Yeah, it would be so clearly a swimming pool. How many people have a full-sized boat in their swimming pool? *laughs* Like... no one? Too bad, though. It would be so cool to have underwater parts of the house, with windows under the water.

My latest cabin

I'm putting the last touches to the "Stone mountain lake cabin" (I like it but i'm getting fed up with it, I must be around something like 35 h of building only!
The idea was to buid real plans based houses, but this one is so far from the original plan that it doesn't count! I've changed almost everything, floor plan included.
It's a 3 bedroom, two car underground garage with a tree house for the kids and a swimmable lake.
I should post it in the moderation thread tonight.
Here's somes pictures

Like me. I had to completely redesign my newest house (uploads tomorrow). Reason y is b/c I couldn't get the roof to work. Nice lot btw :D

Kiara24 15th Jun 2009 4:09 PM

Join this group because I love to create lots.
The project I am working now you can see it in the CreatorFeedbackforum.
I like to now what you think.

Jasiek123 15th Jun 2009 11:08 PM

Soon on MTS... ^^

Naeniver 16th Jun 2009 12:11 AM

After having 7 lots approved, a very few rejected, and bunches more never-before-seen by the public, I've switched to walling and flooring. My current project can be found in the Creator Feedback forum, consisting (currently) of 4 wallings and 2 floorings for my "Lovely Yellow" set. I'm thinking of doing a double set ("Lovely Yellow" and another set). I think some sort of pink set will be next (simply because I have a pick, tiled image sitting on my desktop that might do the trick).

!jolien! 18th Jun 2009 4:04 AM

Yea I like it. Looks good on it.

!jolien! 20th Jun 2009 6:44 AM

OKAY
i'm really stunned
here i see a boat that looks like a bit like a boat but not as mutch as mine boats, there were still many faults in it, and it has more downloads than me, does that mean i have to make my boat in a bad way because than more people will download it? still dont knwo what my real life looking boats dont have what that boatshaped thing stuck in to the ground with bricks does have?. aarghh

GuardStud08 20th Jun 2009 7:46 AM

Don't take it personally, how long has this been on the site? Maybe people just DL it to DL it?? Who knows. I've never played in a Boat shaped house before

!jolien! 20th Jun 2009 8:02 AM

it was downloaded 1000 and times
http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=324978
Compared with my boats, this boat is full with faults and doesnt nook 100 percent like a boat, it really looks unfinished... dont get why that is more downloaded than my real life boats... that actually look like a boat.. should i build things like the boxy thing too than

sarah*rose 20th Jun 2009 8:06 AM

Don't take it too personally. It might be because it was uploaded well before The Sims 3 came out (the novelty hasn't worn off yet so a lot of people might be preoccupied playing that and forgetting about The Sims 2) or maybe because the other boat doesn't use any stuff packs? Could be any reason. Your boats are lovely, by the way.

Kiara24 20th Jun 2009 7:19 PM

Your boat is fantastic.
In my case I did lots for Sims3 who people do more downloads that those who did for the Sims2, and is a big difference.
I think most people will only see the downloads of Sims3.
It is the enthusiasm for novelty, I believe that over time many will return to Sims2 I still find a great game.

anouck238 21st Jun 2009 9:50 AM

Yeah, don't take it personnaly, your real life looking looks much more real life!!! By the way, I have a idea for you (I suck at building boat so I doubt i'll use it ever... Why not add a level under water (not usable since it will be flooded), and put around slanted windows (like the ones by numenor) with an opaque recolor? This way you will have a curved thingy (i don't know the english word for the boat part under the water, in french it's called la "quille". It won'even be strange not to have anything in there since on the big boat, in real life, this level is genrally empty to be able to fill with water in case of problem without sinking the whole ship (no Titanic....)
Anyway nice boat don't give up!!!!

lauralaima 22nd Jun 2009 12:26 PM

4 Attachment(s)
!Jolien!, about the number of downloads of your boats, I think it's due to the stuff packs required for them. The other boat, 'The Kingdonetti' or however it's named may have some issues and mistakes, but it does look like a boat and it requires less games installed, so people looking for a plain boat choose what's better and easier for them. When I started uploading my HP lots here, I was stunned that people actually didn't download them as much as I imagined they would. Then I got some PMs asking me to remove my SPs so downloads wouldn't be so restrictive. Anyway, I think you make wonderful ships, and the thing I like the most is the attention to detail you put on them; keep creating, downloaders will thank you

Now about me, I don't usually post here, but now I'm tempted
I've just started a new medieval/fantasy themed neighbourhood inspired by the saga A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin: it's a huuuge project and I still only have one castle, one port and a few peasant homes. The last ones are what pics show. I'll update with castle and port shots
You like them? Suggestions?

Here is a picture of my current project. It is already over $600,000 dollars (maybe $700,000 by now) and I'm nowhere near being done. Actually, this picture is slightly outdated. For instance, my moat is already put in around the castle, and I have this big garden on the terrace. At the time I took this picture, the inside barely had anything. Now it is drawing near to being completely furnished. When that time comes, I'm going to post in Creator Feedback forum to get final tips.

There is a lot of CC in this lot, but each piece is necessary. This castle is based on a friend's idea of a dream house; and so I must keep it all in the style that this friend wanted; that is why there is a lot of CC. Some key features of this lot is its dungeons underground and the torture tower (the rear-left tower), all of which only accessible through the secret bookcase in the library. There is a hidden graveyard just around the corner of the wall on the right (from a sim's point of view, it is hard to see). There is a large theatre room in the basement. The rear-right tower has a jacuzzi, the front-right has a nursery (currently unfurnished), and the front-left has lots of grills and seatings. The little room poking above the roof is an attic (currently unfurnished with no wallpaper or flooring, because I need some CC for that room). This lot has 4 bedrooms (each with its own private bathroom) and one regular bathroom, plus two shower bathrooms downstairs with the pool.

My latest project is the "creatorFeedbackForum" is an apartment for Plant Sims.

I also test it and all things are working fine for me.

Yay! It's already approved! You can find it right here: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=352598

MondayMorning 6th Jul 2009 6:37 AM

Here's what I'm currently working on. I actually didn't base it off of any building plans, but I think it's turning out all right. It kind of reminds me of a beach-type home, and if all goes well, I might make a series out of it, like I did with my farm houses (Country Gables). The first pic is just the front, while the second is just another angle--and so far away! My tab button doesn't work in just edit town unless I mash the buttons and get so frustrated when I can't replicate the sequence! Gah!

Anywho, I have the faux driveway leading to the back and might add some nice landscaping there, or even a play area for the kiddos.

Kiara24 6th Jul 2009 1:04 PM

Your house is beautiful!
The project that I'm working now is an apartment for PlantSims and I want to create a Swimmable lake but is difficult therefore need all the help possible please help me if you can, go to the "Creator Feedback Forum", thanks!

hey, I know this social group is for people who build lots, but is it okay to "preview" a sim in here? This is my first attempt at a sim (in Sims3, too), and I really want to know if I have something here that has potential. I'm not ready to take it to the Creator Feedback Forum (not enough time to devote to it right now) but I did want to know if I should even bother when I do have the time.

*timewarp* oh, btw, here is her bio:

Likes cookies, color blue, classical music, is family-oriented, good, friendly, heavy sleeper, good sense of humor, lifetime want is to be surrounded by family; her info bio says roughly:

"Deanne Bray is deaf and reads lips and starred in the tv show "Sue Thomas F.B.Eye"; if she someday has a daughter, she would name her Kyra."

Actually, in real life, she is married to Troy Kotsur and Kyra Monique is already born. She's a toddler.

60's Starter - 1br, 1ba

This groovy sixties inspired starter isn't as dull as most starters. It has a big kitchen, a living/dining room with lots of windows, one bathroom and a bedroom where all the action takes place. Yeah baby! This house is perfect for the young couple or as the party pad for the single.

But I was rejected ( ) because my screenshots were too small. I wonder how you can keep a high resolution and quality without exceeding the 195 kb per picture limit????

Hello builders

4 Attachment(s)
Hellooo... just joined this group..

I'm kinda of a multi-project builder. Ran out of ideas on how to occupy my 6x6 lot so I started on this one this week. It has a custom roof using tiles cos I wanted to match with the original based on a houseplan.com pic.

I just realized how borked CFE is when the 1/2/3-click high walls will deform my lot floor when I placed stairs. And when I placed flooring, the stairs refuse to be placed. I think this must be why certain stairs refused to be built when I use click mode instead of stairs to lower/raise terrain.

I'm still looking for custom content to use in this house, but have had no luck with windows so I might try meshing one to fit in the wall slot from the bottom...which might take a looong time to finish (never mod/meshed before).

bluetexasbonnie 5th Sep 2009 2:42 PM

Edit -- The below is Sims2 lore. No idea about Sims3, which when I look carefully at your pics is what I think you are building in.

Windows are not terribly difficult, but they are not a good choice for your first project. Make few simple objects -- tables, statues, chairs, columns first. Then make a few of those repository. When all that starts to make sense, you are ready to do windows.

I've been making a lot of windows lately (maybe I'll have some pics to share in a few days).

Some things to know about windows ....
1. Definitely use MaryLou's templates, otherwise your windows are unlikely to let in light.
2. Windows are made in two halves. (North=Outside, South=Inside -- actually it doesn't matter. Just be consistent.)
3. Walls stick out 0.15 units from the center line. Make sure your frame will completely cover its side of the gap.
4. The normal alignment on meshes has them offset 0.15 from z-centerline. I always forget which one is -0.15 & which is 0.15 -- look at the initial package mesh.
5. With the above in mind, I find it easier to make the north & south meshes lined up on z=zero, so they look like they will in game. When the mesh is complete, move off center as the very last step. Too hard to see what you are doing and how it will look if you try to build the mesh offset from the beginning.

ellacharmed 5th Sep 2009 3:09 PM

Thanks for the tips, bluetexasbonnie, I'll keep those in mind.
I'm just starting with simple shapes like boxes (via tuts found on the Netz) and the aviator glasses tut by Wes.

Also evaluating both Milkshape and Blender to find out which I work on better (or rather which I can understand more, hee)

Which do you guys use? Or is that discussed in other threads...? <** going hunting for posts **>

bluetexasbonnie 5th Sep 2009 3:17 PM

Ella -- I use Milkshape. I know that lots of people use Blender ... and lots of people use Milkshape. Don't know which is most 'common'.

There are more object tutorials written with Milkshape as the basis -- or at least there were when I started a few years ago. Don't know if there are more Blender tutes out there now or not. Since I had never done any 3-D modeling before, I chose to go with the program that I could get absolute step-by-step Sims tutorials for statring out with.

lewjen 5th Sep 2009 6:34 PM

Also, if you're wanting to mesh for ts3, you need milkshape and the plugins.

I'm working on a very Sci-Fi kind of set. I'm really a builder at heart. I only make things because I want them for a lot and can't find what I want. This series makes spherical looking rooms/buildings. Still have a lot to do before the set is complete enough to be actually useable (such as it has to have coordinating working doors!). I'm hoping to finish before Christmas.

lewjen 6th Sep 2009 7:52 PM

0.o, that's coming along nicely!

I am currently working on a family size version of myAscuns Bunker . I am trying to figure out a good way to disguise it. I found out that the rocks look goofy over a 3/2 house. No pics yet, but I'll post some when I can get it looking at least decent. I have the layout done though.

EDIT: I posted some preliminary screenshots in the creator feedback forum under Family Sized Bunker if your interested and would like to help me get this lot right.
