It looks wonderful! Although you have a stray pair of curtains on one of the upstairs front windows that you might want to remove before you upload.

Looks good so far, although you might have made it a bit too wide when comparing it with the original, also, the porch roof of the original looks to be practically flat, so maybe you could remove the pitched roof and replace it with that weird stage/foundation which would create a visual appearance similar to that seen on the real life home. The only other thing that I would suggest is using actual columns on the porch rather than walls, which look too chunky in my opinion. But other than that, I'm really looking forward to seeing how you tackle that gorgeous looking dinning room that the real home has.

I've recently become infatuated with a tv show called 'Indian Summers' which is set in India the 1930's and portrays the Downton Abbey style society of the British ruling classes while on summer retreat in Simla in the Himalayan foothills. Despite being set in Simla, India, it was actually filmed on Penang in Malaysia using spectacular sets, some of which were painstakingly restored and saved from dereliction. Seeing and reading about these places inspired me to create a lot inspired by the set of the 'Royal Simla Club', which in real life is known as the 'Old Crag Hotel'.

I'm getting w7 installed today

edit: Sims has been installed, now I need my usual CC and I'm ready to go, and hopefully the houses I have on my mind will come out how Iimagine.

What do you think of this now? I think it looks much better

Johnny_Bravo 14th Jun 2016 1:09 PM

I'd try a softer turqouise (?). It's very bright.

Well yes that is very true!!! So the porch look much better?
BTW its not an exact replica i added a couple extra touches there if you could not tell

Johnny_Bravo 16th Jun 2016 3:35 PM

The porch looks better yes, I haven't noticed the extras because I only took a quick look at the real house.

attuned 17th Jun 2016 1:13 AM

TudorMan23- I love this house- so quirky and eclectic! I can imagine many different stories for the residents of this house.

I think the porch looks much better with the columns. I have one suggestion. In uni, my design professor said that when you have a big or bold or bright design element, it is best to complement that with quieter, softer elements. Your house is big and bold and bright. You might want to have the porch walls and columns have a more simple texture. The porch walls could be a wood texture. The columns could be wood or even a simple marble-like stone. The foundation, which matches the chimneys (love that), could remain the stone pattern you have. Just a thought...

Sim Orleans

One of my Sim Orleans homes

French Quarter :lovestruc

I used a lot of custom content for this world so much I lost track of it all! But primarily I used the New Orleans sets on here, awesims and lunasims stuff, and some store content!

P.S. I apologize for crummy graphic quality my game was running rather slow in this world

Johnny_Bravo 3rd Jul 2016 3:57 PM

Wow, looks really nice Is this your own custom world or did you re-build an EA world?
Also, is the floor sticking out in the last pictures due to the graphics?

Yesterday I came back from Austria, and a lot has changed, architecturally, since the last time I've been there, 4 years ago.

These kind of homes are very common meanwhile, and I think that's pretty badass. (none of the pictures by me)

Extensions like this are nothing new either, this has been done in the town where I was, one street further from where I stayed. (Aunt and uncle )

TudorMan23 6th Jul 2016 3:57 AM

WOW! Johnny your town looks really great! Love the New Orleans inspired stylings!

@TudorMan23
Again, a nice one but way too bright!
You could try these wood patterns, they're pretty soft in color.
I have an example of it below, a new project I started. The color actually is somewhat bright orange-y, but doesn't looks as bright as it actually is.

attuned 13th Jul 2016 1:06 AM

TudorMan23- the roof on that last house you posted is amazing!

Johnny_Bravo- I really like the new house!

TudorMan23 13th Jul 2016 2:23 AM

@attuned thank you! The style of roof is Called a mansard roof on a Second Empire Victorian house!

@Johnny_Bravo yes its a bit too bright huh? I just downloaded those patterns and will try them! and You new house is gorgeous! Love the roof line!

Looks good, did you make a whole new world for it or did you transform one of the pre-made worlds?

Wow, they're amazing! I have to say that the previous house was great too, I really like it when you make houses with the overhanging roofs. My absolute favourite of yours is still this one:

In fact they've inspired me to adapt an unusual Hawaiian-Colonial Revival hybrid house:

I still need to do a lot of work on the landscaping and add some Hawaiian/exotic flourishes to the exterior, but internally it's already very similar to its inspiration. It really took a lot of effort to not do my usual and add a fireplace in every room.

I'm currently jumping from one project to another, and I take a lot of inspiration from Test Drive Unlimited 2.

@Fergus' Mind, as for Hawaiian inspired homes..

Looks nice so far, the proportions seem good. I like seeing how you slowly get better at building over time

It's certainly recognisable. Considering how big the real-life version is, I think you've got the in-game proportions spot-on! I must say that I love the way you've done the chimney tops! I may "borrow" that idea of using cornices for the tops as it's a really clever idea!

TudorMan23 14th Aug 2016 10:58 PM

@Johnny_Bravo I have been getting better haven't I? I'm learning from you and the others!

@Fergus' Mind Thanks! The only thing is because the house is so big I am probably not going to fully furnish the whole house cause I definitely do not want it to bog down my laptop too much! ANd yes you can borrow the chimney top idea from me! I usually use fencing for the top of my chimneys!

It occurred to me that some of you might not know that Delphy and Nysha have started a sims file site where people who create for any Sims series can upload their creations and then provide a link to people who want to download the lots, objects, mods, sims, etc. Many are sharing the links on their blogs or Tumblrs.

If you would like an invitation, which is the fastest and easiest way to join, post in this thread and I will send you an invitation by PM. If you are not a member of Lot Creators (and why not? ) you can still post in that thread by quoting another post.
