Ahah, that is very challenging architecture. I wish you the best of luck wit that. Teehe.

musiquefille 21st Jan 2009 7:44 AM

I love many types of building styles (as evidenced by my japanese/medieval/victorian/rural/urban uploads). Right now, I'm enjoying Mansions and Gardens and enhancing my Victorian era neighborhood with a few more styles from all around europe and america at the time.

Well Ive put it on the back burner due to a problem that no one seems to be able to answer lol

I mean Ive made the bloody domes, the columns and some other stuff (like signage etc) but I actually have a game problem that has made me stuck?!

When I change it to a dorm lot I can move a student in it but when you get to the lot again it wont let you play them rofl

Oh well Ill carry it on some time when I figure out why its doing that

(major sucks has I have made the main dorm, the church, the rectory)

You change it to a dorm in neighborhood view? Yes?

then you move a student in, yes?

Then when you leave the lot and go back to it you can't do anything with the people on the lot? Yes?

if all the above is true.

1: Install patch for all the EP's you have - test..

2: If that still fails. Save your sims 2 folder and uninstall and reinstall your game. It's a bug in your game.

V These are some things i am working on...

Rosehill9991 22nd Jan 2009 3:40 AM

I think I want to continue with my Tucson theme. Its kinda fun and different for me. Also I want to recreate another TV house. It's just that doing known houses is so painstakingly detailed. You can't just use your imagination. Last year I wanted to do the Brady house and I had so many photos. It would have been easy. But I did a search and it was already done a few times. How many Brady houses can you have.

RubberBoy 22nd Jan 2009 10:27 AM

Nice stuff. Bloody Wings hates closed meshes rofl when you come to map it it freaks out half the time lmao

Hate using classic uv mapper to

Naeniver 22nd Jan 2009 4:25 PM

I just got a lot uploaded, and I ordered Apartment Life on Amazon. Once it arrives, I'm going to take a crack at building a simple apartment complex.

Until then, I am going to take yet another shot at meshing. I have tried to mesh before, and it turned out... well, pretty sad, actually.

QBUILDERZ 24th Jan 2009 6:56 AM

Apartments get boring to furnish if you make them too large, which is why i never want to build another...ever :D

musiquefille 24th Jan 2009 6:52 PM

[QUOTE=QBUILDERZ]Apartments get boring to furnish if you make them too large, which is why i never want to build another...ever :D[/QUOTE

I've decided to only partially furnish (light fixtures, bathrooms, telephone) and to finish furnishing each time I move someone in. That way I don't waste energy furnishing for some townie, but everyone can still be called. I totally know what you mean - I run out of steam after perfectly furnishing 1 apartment, let alone four or more.

Rosehill9991 25th Jan 2009 4:03 AM

I think if you put just the basics, lights, plumbing, beds and tables and chairs, its probably enough. Furnishing is often the least enthusiastic part of building a lot, for me at least. The last apartments I did were huge and filled with furniture. I totally decorated each apartment in different styles to seem realistic. By the time i was finished I wanted to never look at it again. But then it was time to take screenshots. Thats another function I dread. Well, its gotta get done I guess

QBUILDERZ 25th Jan 2009 5:19 AM

Furnishing is terrible, screen shots are WAYYY worse, esecially if you have to edit them together

leefish 25th Jan 2009 2:41 PM

When furnishing apartments I give the sims the basics - bed, table, chair, sofa, counters, fridge, sink, toilet and shower, enough for the NPCs to survive. For walls and floors, pretty much the same. It keeps the cost down and takes some of the drag out of furnishing it. I often make one apartment nicer than the rest and that is my screenshot apartment.

Most downloaders redecorate anyway.

ZimZ 26th Jan 2009 6:06 AM

I have been building since I have had the Sims 2 (since late 2004 or something like that) and I have made big mansions small houses complex desings. My dad is an architect and I have made alot of his modern designs. But at the moment I am making a big House/Mansion which is sort of 3 levels in one part and 2 levels in the other part. I'm no where near finished but I could show some pictures if you like.

Here is a building I have been working on, it is HUGE, so I think I will make it a community lot - bank or library or something

WARNING - contains CC - custom windows

ZimZ 27th Jan 2009 12:21 AM

cool nnice building it looks like a big bank to me but it also looks like ti could be a library... panic!

Naeniver 28th Jan 2009 4:26 AM

Well, Apartment Life has arrived. I've got two different apartments in mind to build. I honestly don't mind spending hordes of time putting in furniture, etc. I like it.

One apartment is a more modern type, with four regular apartments and a pent house (plus kitchen, dining room and main room on the first floor). The other apartment is a more country style house that has about 4 or 5 regular apartments.

QBUILDERZ 28th Jan 2009 5:44 PM

^ can't wait to see it!

As for me, i have started another mesh, and it will NOT work for me (making me very mad) haha

Alessio^89^ 31st Jan 2009 11:08 AM

I'm working with my "american houses set" now i have built 4 houses... i hope i have new ideas...

Naeniver 1st Feb 2009 3:28 AM

I have four of my Livingston Lane homes currently in the Creator Feedback Forum, and another one that I'm working on. I don't like doing just one at a time. Having more than one ensures that I'm never just sitting there twiddling my thumbs while waiting for suggestions and responses to my threads in the CFF.

Well I like furnishing very much, although I'm not that good, and I have to admit that it's very time expensive to furnish every apartment, but if you look at the screenshots it's looks way better with more furniture. I edit my screens with paint (at least I delete the red frames), because I'm too stupid for photoshopping or things like that but at least I got this Fraps programm now, so I don't have to wait hours anymore for minimizing and reloading the game after every screenshot- that was annoying!!!
but back to the topic- my project is to complete the whole Desiderata Valley neighborhood and I hope it will be finished till the end of this year

Naeniver 7th Feb 2009 1:36 AM

I have had one of my four lots approved just today. My other three need a little more work, one especially. I hope to get to them soon, I've been so busy of late.

QBUILDERZ 7th Feb 2009 5:03 PM

Stoffelsim - You can DL Numenors anygame starter, pick the EP's you wanna use ahve it set for a windowed game. It makes it so you can simply click on your desktop BG and you can work from there, when you wanna go back jsut click in the window.

My mesh set is 90% complete, 5 out of 8 meshes are working to full extent (working, recolorable, etc.) But 1 still needs recolors, and 2 will not recolor (for reasons un known)

I hope to be done by some time this week!

tree4me 14th Feb 2009 6:16 AM

Well, the Victorian Bushfires have made me think, so I have made a set of 5 mini houses. I am still waiting for a PM. Gah! I am so impatient! *checks inbox for the 72nd time*

EDIT: Beguh! (Rough translation from gibberish: By the way, make that, the 87th time.)

Alessio^89^ 14th Feb 2009 7:28 PM

Ok, i have built some houses... now i'm projecting a beautiful, very very expansive, restaurant.

Dj Music 14th Feb 2009 11:42 PM

I'm working on a lot of Base Game Mini-Starter homes at the moment. I've got 4 of them uploaded, Starting work on the 5th soon. Also trying some meshing jobs, I'll post pictures later.

tree4me 15th Feb 2009 2:58 AM

I've seen your houses, Dj. They're great! :D

Dj Music 15th Feb 2009 2:34 PM

Jasiek123 18th Feb 2009 12:49 AM

Uhm... Welcome on a country-side ^^ My current project. I'm gonna to correct it, don't worry. I know it needs some adjustments xd.

Naeniver 18th Feb 2009 4:37 AM

oh wow, I like that, Jasiuuu! The only thing that doesn't appeal much is how the house blends so well with itself. it is hard to see the difference between the house itself and the furniture stuff in front of it.

smmi73 18th Feb 2009 11:39 AM

Love your cottage, Jasiuuu!

One of my current projects is kinda big. I suddenly got the inspiration to try to create something similar to the bridge dwelling that William Gibson (guess many of you know him, wonderful author I can't recommend enough) describes in Virtual Light and All Tomorrow's Parties. Basically, the stories take place in some near future. The San Fransico bridge has collapsed and people have build new dwellings on the now unused bridge.

As you can see it's still very much work in progress. I'm not trying to copy things from the books, it's more the idea of creating something new out of the descarded. Right now I'm just toying around. I try to create it so that it's playable and hope to make it into 5-6 flats, maybe even a few shops, eventually. But that's a long way off.

Here is my latest project - a community lot - it is a train station (I know sims don't have trains, but if they did it would look like this I hope). It will have a lot of CC - advertising posters, small old fashioned vending machine, a coffee bar/restaurant, newspaper stand, etc.

I hope to get cc with a generous download policy so I can include a CC pack with meshes. I will do two versions - with and without cc, a lot of the cc I will make myself, or use CC that is a must have anyway - like pixelhate's walls. EPS required are UNI, NL and AL

Little Simton

leefish 18th Feb 2009 12:48 PM

Jasiuuu - beautiful landscaping, very goodlooking so far

Naeniver 18th Feb 2009 6:45 PM

Wow, Leesester! Neat lot! Does it require and SPs?

I really like your lot/neighborhood as well, Smmi73. I've never read those books, but those buildings in the very least look quite authentic. They have those rustic sort of looks found in refineries, etc.

Jasiek123 18th Feb 2009 7:00 PM

leesester, nice. That's really realistic and good-planed.

smmi73, I like unnatural. I'm waiting for full version of your lot

Today, I'll show u furnished version and for several days I'm gonna to upload it.

leefish 18th Feb 2009 7:25 PM

Jasiuu, thank you

Naeniver - no SP's , but the CC count will be high for the best looks

Dj Music 19th Feb 2009 8:53 PM

Lee, You already know I love that Station!
Jasiuu, That lot is stunning! It's so surreal! I'll be looking forward to that!
smmi73, Wow! It's a great start! The second I looked at it I thought of a Futuristic style! :D

smmi73 19th Feb 2009 9:03 PM

Thanks guys. It'll take a while for me to finish. Any of you know the books?

Leester, what a beautiful station! The illusion of a track's really convincing. Will you be combining it with Crickuette's hood pieces?

Jasiek123 19th Feb 2009 11:19 PM

Uhm... I've just furnished my house and then the game quit to the Windows. No message, no anything. I just saw my beautiful desktop :<. And ofc I didn't save it... It's seems to me that the house won't be in a few days. I'm angry with that hopeless game :/

But I upload my house, that was built two months ago. Enjoy ^^.

Dj Music 20th Feb 2009 10:25 PM

Aww Jasiuu, That sucks! That happened to me about 6 months ago, Every since then I save after every room or so It's a bit paranoid but it just protects my work.

smmi73 21st Feb 2009 4:19 PM

Poor you Jasiuu. It's just the worst feeling to have done al that work for nothing ...

melethana 21st Feb 2009 10:37 PM

I hate roofing!

6 Attachment(s)
I am trying to re-create my real life house. The first floor layout is perfect. The second floor is okay, but could be fiddled with a little. I just cannot get the roof right! Is there a way to have a roof bend in the middle? I had to adjust the roofslopeangle to 55 to get the roof to over the second floor, but now it looks tall and ugly. I wish I could make it bend at a shallow angle, like 30 above the porch. Also, in the room above the garage, when I have the whole exterior be blue shingles, one wall inside turns to blue shingles too. Help?!?!?

smmi73 22nd Feb 2009 1:43 PM

Melethana, have you tried to make a separate very low angled roof over the porch?Alternatively, you could try the pagoda style roofs if you've got BV. They end up having a similar effect sometimes.

In the room above the garage you need to replace the wall that's now a part of the roof with a regular wall as explained in this tute:http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=223637 That way you also ensure that the room is weatherproof if you've got seasons.

Have fun

Jasiek123 22nd Feb 2009 8:48 PM

I don't know how to say it in English, so may be mistakes ^^

Try to make roof one section thiner. Then enter individualroofslopeangle 30 code, and make roof on a place, where is hole. Click on a roof holding "alt" and using roof tool.

melethana 23rd Feb 2009 8:48 PM

smmi73 - thanks for that tuturial on how to fix my wallpaper issue. I am going to try that the next time I get a chance!

jasiuuu - I would like to use that cheat, but it's listed as only working with Pets. Sadly, I do not have Pets.
Your English looks just fine to me!

Jasiek123 23rd Feb 2009 11:13 PM

Hmmm... Really? I've thought, individual... works from NL. But, I checked it, and unfortunetlly it's true. So, now I don't have any good ideas. Maybe try with boolprop constrainfloorelevation. It's harder, but you can have the same effect.

melethana 23rd Feb 2009 11:34 PM

oh! That cheat works for you with NL? Then maybe it will work for me. I have NL, OfB, and FT.

Jasiek123 23rd Feb 2009 11:49 PM

No, I thought, that this cheat works with NL, becuase roofslopeangle came with NL, but maybe EA add it in later EPs. If their didn't make it, try to use boolprop constrain....

leefish 24th Feb 2009 12:25 AM

Individual came in in pets...and all EPs beyond

Dj Music 24th Feb 2009 9:42 PM

oh, wow, Christine! That is one sweet house, especially for a starter. Is there furniture inside, or is the house still cheap enough to be able to buy the necessities? I don't know if it was your intention, but it looks like a faerie house. You know, some sort of home from a faerie tale.

This is one house of my houses currently in the moderation queue:

Naeniver 22nd Mar 2009 11:32 PM

From what I see (through the windows) it is not furnished? It looks interesting (though I am typically not into the modern-type buildings).

I had a question which I haven't found any place to ask. I am going to try and build a medieval castle (complete with moat and whatnot; though completely modern). A friend (in RL) requested it, calling it his "dream house". So I've been searching around for all sorts of medieval stuff to fill the house with. This friend has a morbid fascination with storms (lightning, thunder, tornado's, etc), so I wanted some pictures of lightning and tornado's to go on the walls. Unfortunately, I found none (well, one picture, but that's it). So I wanted to make some of my own to furnish the house with. This is where my questions (I have two, actually) come in. If I make a pretty big set of wall hangings (pictures), could I upload them? I saw somewhere that (because there are so many) mts2 wasn't accepting them anymore for upload. secondly: could someone direct me to a tutorial on making my own wall hangings? I've searched but with no success. I'm sure I must just be looking in the wrong place, but if someone could give me a little boost in the right direction, I'd be very grateful.

smmi73 23rd Mar 2009 12:03 AM

good Luck with your project Naeniver - would this tute do?

pinkykitty, cute house!

Naeniver 23rd Mar 2009 1:11 AM

Thanks, Smmi! That should work well, I hope! I've had trouble with SimPE in the past. I hope the process isn't to technical. I don't really know how to use SimPE.

BTW, I definitely agree with your signature. Windowed mode is a blessing indeed! What would we do without it?!

Eloissa, I liked the Victorian Black Pearl one especially, though all four were lovely! And these had no CC, just Nightlife and M&G? Amazing! I am planning on getting M&G for a secret project of mine.

Jasiek123 27th Mar 2009 5:21 PM

Naeniver, smth like this (but it isn't 100% complete). And I've completly done the garden, so I'm going to furnish it now.
