Introductions from Writers
I figured that once people join the group they might want to show themselves, so I figured I would make this thread. So, introduce yourself! Tell us all what sort of writing you like, what styles and what genres, plus whatever else you may stumble across.
I'll start off. I'm Sophie, I'm 14 and I write stories. Well, not necessarily stories, but just a few paragraphs of a scene which has been depicted in my head. I develop them, and then a story is created, though they are generally very, very short. I occasionally work on a longer piece of writing of mine called 'Bleed Me Dry' , though I find it very hard to keep on writing. I used to be into poetry as well, but I found most people could not unravel my poems so I stopped. I find it hard to write now, which is a shame. Well yes. That's me! What about you? |
I'm Emma, I'm 14 amd I love to write short stories, poems, and I play with longer writing too.
I have my stuff here- http://elpemmywrote.joshssims.net though it hasn't been updated since september (woops) I've set myself a writing target, for a much longer story I'm currently trying to write- 20000 by the end of Feb. So far, I'm on target lol. |
:howdy:
I'm Adrienne, and I write short stories, novellas, and journalistic pieces. In my fictional work, I attempt to convey some sort of emotional progression- my favorite themes to revisit are recovery from a loved one's death, seeking revenge confident in necessity but questionable in morality, and role reversal. It takes me months to mentally mull over a plot scheme before it reaches enough emotional potency that I'm able to write it, and I write sporadically because I can't force it. I keep a Word document filled with phrases to be used at a later date. Often a simple sentence is enough to strike a story in me. As to my style, I'm told that it's very read-between-the-lines, and I would agree; if it's not necessary to the story, it doesn't fall under the realm of my concern. People often ask me, "what happened to [character]?" but I don't have an answer because I just don't think about it. I prefer not to name my characters because, when nameless, they're somehow more human and tangible to me. I strive for my characters to be so emotionally exposed that the piece becames aching and raw. While my weakness is in suspense and plot synthesizing, I feel that my strength is in imagery- I take great pride in my emotional and visual exposition. All I attempt to convey are life, death, and love- nothing more, nothing less. My current project is a novella about role reversal and mental illness called Flowers Die in Summer, but it's nowhere near done. |
(I loved your short story over at the Creativity subsection :D)
Hi all, I'm also a writer (I suddenly feel like this is an AA meeting, lol), though currently more of an RPer. I usually come up with really good plots, but emotional expression isn't always my best friend, lol. I'm more inclined to write plots involving characters with flaws as strong as their strengths and the moral ambiguity involved in said people's lives, whether justification immediately involves pardon - what you do can be understandable, but not necessarily excusable, and external vs. internal guilt, that you feel justified about what you did for self-defence or revenge, but the idea of social conditioning affecting it etc. Currently, my sims story is on hiatus (because though I have the whole thing written, I don't have time to take screenshots! Though, I am considering posting the whole thing on a blog...), but yeah, that is what I'm looking to explore. |
I am PuX-.
I'm a writer and poet. I'm working on two (mostly one) stories and I have many poems. I usually have huge Writer's Blocks. I run out of 'Creativity Juices' for poems, but I can easily regain it...unlike Writer's Block. |
I am Panda, Lark, Amy and "Hey you, stupid." (I will answer to any of those, for the record, none are my name.)
I write novel length fiction, but I never finish it (current project is my pre-NaNo, and it is at 30,000 words [~40 pages, single spaced, 12 point font] and just getting into the action) I also write short stories, its one of my ambitions to get into the SFWA, but every submission I've sent to the required places has been rejected. I did get a personal rejection recently, so I figure I'm moving up in the world! I don't get writer's block, as in I always know what I want to write, but I can't get motivated to write if I have other obligations, so that means that essentially the whole school year I don't write (except NaNo). This summer I plan on finishing my NaNo and my current project and getting one of them published before I graduate. My ambition knows no bounds. As to my style, I like stock charachters in crazy situations. |
Moi!
Wow, it's wonderful to see young people writing! You go, all of you.
Me, I'm about...er...three times the age of the resident 14-year-olds. Just call me grandma. *sigh* I write professionally off and on, meaning that when I do it, I get paid for it. I've written everything from print/web marketing materials to tech/user manuals to freelance magazine articles to scripts for nature documentaries. I've even done a spot of grant- and proposal-writing here and there. Writing isn't my main career, though. I'm mostly a musician by trade. I just pick up writing gigs here and there, on the side. I am also a self-described snooty, snotty, grammar cop. Start running now. Most of the writing I do is done strictly for fun, as a hobby. Mostly, I write either: A) Fun, fluffy fanfiction for various things of which I am a fangrandma. B) Highly detailed, thoroughly researched (I love research!) historical fiction. I have one gigantic complete novel, as yet unsold, which is set in Ancient Egypt and about a half-dozen others in various states of not-completeness. The one I'm currently fiddling with off and on is about England's King Richard I. I have a true passion for the Middle Ages. Oddly enough, I feel absolutely no need to inflict the Middle Ages on my Sims. Strange, that... |
You can call me Maeve, and I'm 15. I'm a writer (obviously or I wouldn't be here would I) but I hardly ever finish anything. I generally write snippets and I have the First Page Curse -- where you get up to a really great start and then it kind of... sags. Or you lose the inspiration, or something. Yeah. I have that.
I'm a very character-driven writer -- I write about people and how they relate to each other. I "grew up", so to speak, as a writer, in the Harry Potter fandom, writing fanfiction, and I still do that a little. I mostly write fantasy and I tend toward oneshots in which nothing really happens. People talk. About stuff. THE END. But I'm practising this thing where I just write and write and write and don't go back to reread. I'm hoping to at least get past five pages and then I'll feel very proud, even if it's crap. So... yeah. Hi! :D |
Maeve Ohmigosh, I totalaly have first page syndrome too. I found it really helpful to do NaNo last year, which is basically: you have one month. Produce 50,000 words, make it kinda cohesive. Go.
Its very good for beating first page syndrome. Since NaNo isn't again until November and there is no force on heaven or on earth that will make me recommend JanNo to anyone (that may be because its littler and I'm still boggled from NaNo, and its the 12 already), my other fairly effective cure for the first page syndrome is Write or Die, which uses operant conditioning to force you to write something. Is shockingly effective. Write or Die NaNo Both are very good for first page syndrome. Highly recommend. |
Yeah, no, I've heard of NaNo! I'm bummed that I missed it this year (or I should say last year, in 2008). I love the idea of just kind of churning out crap XD I love the idea of letting go of all that, this sounds so corny, this is so forced and contrived, oh god I have to reread -- and it seems like so much fun with a whole community doing it too!
I have to go to bed in five minutes or so but tomorrow I shall write! OR DIEEE. hehe |
Hey everyone My Name is Tasia
I like to write poems, short stories, plays, screenplays, novels basically everything from non fiction to fantasy i like it all. |
Hey everyone!
I go by Ranta, and I'm 15 years old. I love both writing and procrastination... unfortunately, that combination doesn't bode well! Someday I want to write a novel, but I fail at coming up with plots. -_- Right now, I mostly write fanfiction and fictional short stories. :] |
I'm like iCad-- old enough to be your mommy. My youngest child turns 15 next weekend.
Also, like her, I'm published. On paper. I don't write for free, either, so you won't find my stuff on the net. Most of my work is journalism but I do write fiction. My favorite reject letter came from the editor of Guitar magazine. He loved my story but, as I knew before I submitted, it didn't fit the mag's style. I wrote that little ditty just for fun. I was thinking of turning it into a Sims' story but haven't gotten around to making proper characters for it. I have not done any stories here since I don't really like making my Sims stage things just so I can get a pic, rather just play them. I love reading historical fiction (and history books) so I'm interested in your Richard I story, iCad. I love that genre and I'm related to him to boot. I like a good spooky story, too, but it's hard to find a book that actually makes me scared to turn the page anymore. |
'Ello, I'm RussaNodrey.
I usually just post at the Debate parts of the forum, but I had to join! I absolutly love writing. I'm 23...pretty old for this side of the forum...I guess.... I'm writing a series of three novels based a single dream that was so vague only the main details where remembered. I also write fanfiction-just finished a piece for Phantom of the Opera and writing another one-more of a parody but a Raoul bashing piece this time. I only write dark fantasy...thats kind of due to my SPD (Schizoid Personality Disorder) but I am a very pessimestic person so that too contributes. I remain people your faithful writer, Rosemarie(for thats my real name). |
Hallo everybody!
I'm Rebecca. I come from a family of writers... My grandparents own a publishing company, and my father and my grandfather are both professional novelists. I've been writing since I was a child, but I wrote my first novel when I was 15. I tried to send it off to be published, but was very disappointed when I didn't get my expected rejection slip from the publishing house I sent it to ;{. I think the manuscript got lost in the mail, but I was disheartened enough to stop writing for awhile. I started up again around 18 and wrote another novel that nothing ever happened to. Now I prefer to write poetry because I suck at plotting anyways! I don't intend to write professionally, but it is something to do in my spare time. I write a sims story for practice and for fun to make sure that I keep writing. Anyways, it is nice to meet you all! And RussaNodrey: Raoul bashing! What fun! ^_^ |
Hello to everyone. ^_^
I write, and have been writing since I was about 13. I tend to do fantasy-ish stories as that's what I read most, and always draw maps. I like maps, they make the story come to life! :D For me, it's a nice hobby to get engrossed in, but I have thought about being published, especially now that I haven't got college to take up my spare time. I've naturally begun to write longer pieces too. So far my limit stands at 50,000 words, but I'm hoping to push that a little bit further. I do still have a few problems - I plagiarise less now though - especially with male characters. I don't tend to have enough. Does anyone else have this problem, a natural and subconscious inclination to write about a certain gender? My stories are overpopulated by women. XD Anyway, great to meet everyone and keep writing! |
@Deatherella:
Hey, my son is 13, so...Yay for teenagers! *rolls eyes* And my eight-year-old daughter might as well be a teenager. (Apologies to the resident teens...but you'll understand when you have your own. ) Oh, the poor Richards! All three of them have been smeared throughout history, so I guess I like to try to write to set the record straight. (Literally so in Richard I's the case, if you know what I mean. Plus, I love that he was poet and musician.) I doubt I can do III better than, say, Sharon Kay Penman did, but I have plans for I and II, indeed. Staying far away from the Tudors, though; they're so overdone now. Plantagenets FTW! It's cool that you're related to them. I'm Irish, so there is no Plantagenet in me, for all that I adore the whole dynasty. Apparently some of my ancestors were mercenaries for Henry V at Agincourt, though. That's the closest I get to being related to royalty. |

Sorry for butting in, but too true. |

Actually I'll make one amendment to my statement about the Tudors: Henry VII and his wife Elizabeth of York are interesting characters, particularly Elizabeth. No one really knows anything about them, and I've seen exactly one fiction book recently about Liz of York, which I have yet to read but I certainly will be doing so. But Henry VIII, his wives, and his progeny...GAH! If I see one more book about Anne Boleyn, I'm going to screeeeaaaaam! And no more Mary, Queen of Scots, either, kthnxbai. Now James I/VI? There's an interesting guy... *ahem* Thread derailment ahoy! |
Hehe, every book I see about Anne Boleyn claims it's the most amazing interpretation yet. Um... XD And about Henry VII - do people not consider him Tudor? :S In The Tudors series, it starts with Henry VIII's first marriage. :-\
There was one book I read about Emma of Normandy, it was a monster novel but it was such a fresh idea to go back that far. Ahhh, historical fiction. :D |

Is true. And unfortunately, to really understand VIII's desperation for a male heir, one has to understand how truly non-legitimate VII's claim to the throne was. He won it by conquest, of course, and his claim to back up his conquest was even less legitimate than The Conqueror's. If this isn't explained/explored, it just makes VIII look like a raving obsessive psycho. (Which in some ways he was, but this particular obsession of his at least has a logical basis, dynastically speaking.) So, I don't get why everyone leaves out Henry VII when they're talking Tudor. The rest of the dynasty, (overinflated) drama aside, makes little sense without him. Of course, everyone forgets poor Arthur, too, who was the posthumous scapegoat of sorts in Henry VIII's Quest for the Holy Divorce. ...It's probably a good thing I've never seen "The Tudors." As for inflatedly-romantic, revisionist Anne Boleyn stories: Bleh. I hold Philippa Gregory (Or whatever her real name is) entirely responsible. My favorite "obscure person" histfic of late is a book about Beregaria, poor wife of Richard I. It was called "A Queen Without a Country," I think. Reading it started me on my Richard I kick, actually, other than my life-long admiration for his mother, Eleanor of Aquitaine. Oooh, and a book about Juana, Katherine of Aragon's older sister, dubbed "The Mad Queen." |
I'm enjoying the traipse through history so much, I almost hate to interject. My husband is a direct descendant of William the Conqueror. I can make no such lofty claims, as most of the family history of which I am aware involves shady horse thieves pre-emigration from Scotland--I suspect that emigration was a forced one--mad Confederate officers who lost fortunes in the war only to kill themselves or disappear from record entirely, and most recently one severely alcoholic Choctaw grandfather who never really knew his children or grandkids.
I'm on the old-er-ish side, too. However, I have no children, unless you count the four legged, furry kind. I've been writing for 30 years. I've been writing reasonably well for considerably less time than that. I've had minor editing jobs, a few small non-fiction articles and some poetry published, but never any fiction. It would probably help if I'd submit some. I am in the process of building a professional storytelling business and have also hosted a local poetry slam. I love the spoken word as much as the written. My favorite genres to read are non-fiction history and biographies, horror, and fantasy. My writing doesn't easily fit into one genre. It tends to be character driven and quite often explores various aspects of addiction, failed parental relationships, or at least the perception of such by one or more characters, and rivalry. Many of my main characters have adversaries who wind up being more useful to them in their enmity than a friend might be. I'm fascinated with the concept of a good enemy being as valuable as a good friend and the way such relationships can shape a person's character. |
If I remember right, didn't the Tudor's come into power by some weak claim to do with someone's aunt being the sister-in-law of the last legitimate king or something like that? I remember he was an usurper without an actual blood claim to the throne. The fact that the Tudors were Welsh should tell anyone they didn't have a claim on the throne.
Mollypog, my Scottish ancestors didn't start showing up in the United States until after the '45 so I often wonder if they were running for their lives. The Clan history puts them fighting with the English, but we all know our Scots ancestors were smart enough to say one thing and do another in those times. |
Deatherella, they very likely could have been, and yes, Scots have always been a very canny lot!

It's...complicated. Henry was indeed Welsh-born-and-raised, but his "claim" arose through his (English) mother Margaret Beaufort, who was a great-granddaughter of John of Gaunt, third son of Edward III, and his mistress, making his a claim based on descent from an illegitimate child of a third son of a king, which is really no claim at all. Plus, Henry IV had controversially disinherited his Beaufort relatives many years before Henry's birth, in order to protect his own claim to the throne. This officially, though very controversially, removed them from the order of succession. So really, Henry's claim was...nothing, really, in legal terms. (Although it should be noted that the Yorkist kings claimed similar descent through John of Gaunt, so...there we are. ) In reality, it's pretty clear to me that Henry got to be king simply because he was responsible for the death of Richard III, who a very unpopular king. People were willing to swallow everything else. He was aware of his precarious position, of course, shown by the fact that one of his first acts as king was to date his reign retroactively to the day before the battle in which Richard was killed, thus allowing Henry to declare a traitor (and thus attaint, meaning that he could, among other things, claim everything they owned for himself) anyone who fought for Richard at that battle. This of course included pretty much all of the people who had a better claim to the throne than he did. Clever, that Henry. He was also married to Elizabeth of York, daughter of Edward IV, who was Richard III's brother. Her brothers were the infamous "Princes in the Tower," whom Richard III is usually accused of having had killed in order to clear his own path to the throne, but it may very well have been Henry himself who ordered it done. Richard had had them declared illegitimate via a bill passed through Parliament, so once that was done they weren't a political threat to him at all, other than as symbols for the rabble to rally around, so he had little motive to have them killed. But Henry had had Richard's bill reversed in order for Elizabeth to be declared legitimate again in order to make her his queen. And if SHE was then legit, then her brothers were as well, so if they were alive (There are no reports of anyone having seen them after 1483, two years before Henry's accession, but this doesn't mean that they actually were killed in 1483), they were then a huge threat to his own power. Anyway, Henry's marriage strengthened his claim since his wife was Edward IV's heir...but the marriage didn't take place until 1486, a year after Henry's accession. So...yeah, complicated. All that aside, Henry VII was actually one of the better, albeit pretty efficiently ruthless, kings of England. He picked up the pieces of the War of the Roses, uniting the warring sides with his marriage (He was Lancastrian, his wife Yorkist). He was not wastefully conquest-minded as were his Plantagenet predecessors, and instead made strong treaties with rulers who directly threatened the war-weakened England. Notably he did this with the newly-unified and very powerful Spain, by arranging the marriage of Katherine of Aragon to (first) his son and heir Arthur and then, upon Arthur's death at the age of 15, Henry went to great lengths to convince the Pope allow the marriage of Katherine and his second son Henry, who became Henry VIII. Finally, he was legal-minded and very frugal, a rarity in a monarch. His policies restored England's economy, which had been destroyed by the civil war, while at the same time amassing a great deal of wealth for himself...which the "great" Henry VIII, then frittered away, but that's a whole 'nother story. Like I said, he's an interesting character and it's a shame that he's ignored by the Tudor-obsessed hordes. @Mollypog: I also tend to focus on adversarial relationships in my writing. Like you said, friends shape and influence a person, but I agree with you in that enemies can be an even more powerful influence. So, it's an interesting angle to explore, and different from what most other writers explore. |
That's such a fantastic history. I saw where the Princes were meant to have been found when I went to the Tower of London and thought it was interesting enough then.
If someone wrote a novel out of your post, I'd be the first to read it! :D Write it plz? *nudge nudge* |

Yes, the late Middle Ages in England are fascinating, indeed, and the Princes are one of the great mysteries of the time, perhaps the greatest historical mystery of them all. No one knows who really did it, and there is a huge list of big-name possible suspects, all with motive and opportunity. Perhaps I shall put Henry VII on my list to write about. It could even be a great romance thing, since he's rumored to have died of a broken heart. In quick succession, Arthur and Elizabeth (both of whom Henry greatly loved) died, Arthur of...I can't remember; tuberculosis, perhaps...and Elizabeth in childbirth. Henry died just a few years after that. |
It would definately be a fresh look at the Tudors! :D
|
Hi, I'm Henry.
I'll be legal on o9.22, weeeeeee. Anyway. Writing is my passion, for sure. I'm still in the process of writing my first book. 150 pages, or around there in standard word. XD I've heard a lot of good comeback so I hope it's good. If you wanna read, just go to my MySpace, aha. :P I loveeee poetry also. |
Hi, I'm Melody~!
And I like writing fanfictions as well as my own stories. I enjoy writing poetry about love and life. Hmm...I guess that's it. Oh! And I like writing skits! <3<3<3 |
Thanks, iCad. That was a good refresher course since all I remembered was they had a real shakey claim to the throne. With their logic, I should be sitting on it.
I haven't readthis for awhile or I would've thanked you sooner. I'm impatient for your book. The Middle Ages are about my favorite to read about. I like the books that hint that the two princes were never killed but secreted away never to be seen again -- which is just me wishing for the best. Our surname doesn't show up anywhere we can find before then, either, so there's a good chance our ancestors were originally Norman's coming over with William. What we do have lists a bunch of de this or that's marrying in. All we get to know for sure is our family started out in the peerage somewhere. I got about a fourth of a book done and now I'm stumped. You ever start something that just goes on and on and has no ending? You ever feel like cheating and sending your manuscript to the Minnesota Women's Press cuz you know it'll get published? That was bad. It's my brother-in-law's and my joke. He writes excellant spooky military novels. Too bad he forgot to delete them all off this pc when he gave it to me. Now, I don't have to out and buy the rest of them. LOL. I'm bored. I think I'll go write a Sim's story. |
Hi everyone. Cool group. Great thread- interesting reading.
@ Deatherella & iCad- I am along with you two- old enough to have mothered most of the others in this group! LOL! I have 2 teen sons- my oldest is a Jr. in HS, the younger, in 8th grade, took the SAT a couple of weeks ago. @ Deatherella & Mollypog- I am of Scottish descent as well, but have no problems at all tracing the family name/line because they are apparently very well known. Clan Urquhart. The "modern" line of my family (Cromarty / Cromartie) goes WAY back starting with the marriage of Sir Adam (Knight) married Marjorie (Daughter of Griffin-Prince of Wales), b. 1071. It was very cool information to learn. Anyway...whew... I write as well, lest I'd not have joined! I write mostly poetry, but also do other works as well. My most recent completed project was taking a screenplay written by an actor friend of mine (if you have seen "Scary Movie" then you've seen him) and re-writing it into a manuscript for a children's book. That was fun. I am currently myself developing an idea for a comedic screenplay. |
MissTech: I know of the Urquharts. Do you pronounce it Upchuck? I've heard it said that way. We're Clan Munro thru my my great-grandfather's mother. It's our English ancestors that have gaping holes all over. Almost all the people in this country with my surname (and it's two dozen bastardized versions) are pretty much all the descendents of two men who came to America about the same time that can be traced back to the same English town with birthdates only a year or two apart and then it's a dead end for most of the ones that came before them. The infamous ones are so much easier. Oh, well, we keep plugging along and some of the my sixth cousins banded together and hired a UK genealogist to try and sort out the mess.
I was a journalist doing news. Which is either really interesting or really boring depending upon where the paper sends you. Now, I just write what I want and hope it gets printed. While looking for whatever stupid job I can find so I can feed my kid. But I am outlining the piles of videos and news clippings, etc, I saved from when a local kid murdered his whole family that I plan on sending to someone to make a movie out of. That was one creepy episode around here. I still remember the last time I saw those people alive. Enough time might have passed to put it back in the mainstream by now. My old neighbors ask me when I'm going to do that book, but I think I'd rather just underwrite it as a movie. And not have my name on it since I think that kid got out of prison a couple years ago. I only write poetry when I'm truly inspired. Which doesn't seem to be too often. |
I'm Frankie (or Fran) and im 16. I've been writing since i was 8 and it's mainly long stories that I end not finishing. I have to say all my stories are depressing and not readable for people who don't like that kind of stuff. I write mainly about people who are in some way different. At the moment im writing a story with a friend of mine (since about 9 months).

Hello, I am Petchy
15 year old teen with a mind which is impossible to my friends.. er.. and.. *thinks of what else to put* I'm one of those people who are very imaginative, in that I visualize things like Desk ideas, Places, Objects etc. easily. My Mind is more skilled at imagination than in writing or drawing [and I've known that for awhile now..] I've adopted the task of writing my feelings out as I really need to work on them more. My Grammar is notsoamazing and I find it hard once I've "finished" something to add or check. I'm better at "setting a mood" than *explaining*. ....and thats about it! ..yarr! :D |
Hey!
I'm Kathleen, 14 years old. I guess I consider myself a write because it's a favourite past-time, more so than reading, and I am quite passionate about it. I don't really sway a particular way, I write poetry, scripts, songs, short stories, novels etcetera. I could also happily waste away days of just creating characters. I like to draw the characters too, yet unfortunately my drawing style and technique is not very realistic. I primarily like reading novels with subtle romance in them. I find war-based stories and thrillers interesting too. That's just about it! Good meeting everyone! |
Hi everybody, I'm 14. You can call me Toes.
I'm a writer, who doesn't write quite as much as she would like. I like writing about.. stuff. And I always make up stories in my head, but never gith them down. I also enjoy reading. I'll read nearly anything I can get my hands on, and always have a book with me. I get most of my inspiration from the world around me, as well as Sims 2. Uh, yup. That's all folks! |
Hello! I'm 13. You can call me Jewa, I guess.
I am a writer, and I write. I write too much, and everywhere. I love to read, too. Although I am always writing, its usually something new. I hardly every have a chance (or feel like) finishing something, so I hope I won't neglect my story! *click on the link below. You know you want to!* |
Hello. I'm Tawnee. I'm 19 and I've been writing since I was very young (probably around 6 or 7). I write novels and sometimes a poem here or there. For some reason, the short story is the hardest form of writing for me. I also write sims stories every once in a while. I have one on this site at the moment actually.
Writing is pretty much everything to me. It's my dream to someday be a published, bestselling novelist someday, and I strive toward that goal every day. |
I'm Noel, 23, all I can really say. I write? I write books? Heheh. I've been writing since I was a little girl, when I won a poetry contest and got it published. I'm not too good at poetry now a days, my stuff usually involves more complex things rather than clouds and rainbows...obviously, now-a-days...but I still enjoy writing as much as I used to. I'm currently working on a graphic novel with a friend, a few other projects like games and shows with another friend, and a few books.
I'm also actually an aspiring director, since I'm a person that likes visual stimulation, I thought it'd be a good field to get into...and put my ideas and stories in other forms rather than paper. |
Hey ho! I'm Fiona and I'm 13 years old. I've loved writing from a very young age (about...4 or 5 or something) but I've NEVER properly finished anything. I'm most interested in writing about magic and stuff but my interest is dying out. I love comedy mixed with fantasy, though, and I LOVE Terry Pratchett!
I've been experimenting with different writing mediums lately. I've moved away from trying to write proper stories for a while and I've been most interested in making films with my friends. I like making short skits because everything is more fluid in front of the camera. I think I just need to get my head down and WORK if I want to write anything. Hopefully, this group will get me fired up! Oh, and before I forget, I DO NOT LIKE BAD ENGLISH. You have been warned. |
Hi, I'm Ann, or North, I answer to both. I'm currently 1/4 of the way through my first novel, a semi-medieval fantasy for young adults.
|
Hi everyone, I thought I should stop by and introduce myself.
I'm Sarah, or Cev, I don't mind which. I write original stories and fan fiction and have always been writing in some form since I was quite young. At the moment I've got a few projects on the go, but can't seem to get really into any of them. Ah well... So... that's me I guess. |
I'm Chelle, I'm 22, and I write.
I write fan fiction (Star Trek: Voyager and X-Men primarily, I'm a 7/C shipper and a R/G shipper respectively) primarily, but I do write some other stuff, mostly poetry. Basically what happens is I get an idea in my head and I don't think of anything else until it gets put to paper. I also tend to obsessively write until either: I'm spent and can't type any more, or the story has played itself out to my satsifaction. I just finished one today called The Cadet and the Borg. I'm also someone's mommy - I think she'll write someday, too, she's got a fantastic imagination! |
Hello everyone, I'm Elice and I'm a writer, "Hi Elise.", I love writing in third person, and I find it extremely difficult to do it in first person point of view. I hate when people make a story and show their character's thoughts, I like it better when their thought's are told in the writing and not "'I wish school would end now' Jimmy thought while walking." more of " Jimmy was really hoping the bell would ring to get out of school." But of course if it was first person, then it's completely fine.
I also have an obsession to collect words from the dictionary, I'll actually read a dictionary if it ever comes to it. Even though I gain new words to my vocabulary, I hardly use them while talking, only in my writing. I am currently writing fan fiction, but I have two stories, three if you count my epic poem, in mind, but I kind of turned them into comics because of my love for art. I actually got into writing because of my poetry, which started my epic poem. I've been drawing since the age of seven and actually had random ideas of comics that have been written yet never drawn. I have two main comics in mind that I've yet to draw anything for, but I'm serious about. I'm probably forgetting some more stuff, but I'll post it later when and if my poor memory allows me to. |
I'm Cassie I usually write in first person...Then again most of the stuff I read is in first person
I find third person...Weird. It took all my strength on my story I posted in the Sims Stories to be third person...'Cept for one of the chapters I write in microsoft word...And I have a website. www.randomstoriesc.weebly.com I think that's all |
Why hello there. Just call me Torako. Or "Her Royal Highness the Empress of Lala Land" if you don't like typing. :D
Aaaanyway, I'man aspiring writer, not even 18. I write in Microsoft Word 07 which isn't that bad. I recently finished a 220-page work (8 1/2 by 11 paper... I didn't print it out) with about 47,000 words. I'm not kidding. It's pretty good too, if I do say so myself. I write fiction, mostly stuff centering around 4 characters that my friend and I formulated (that kind of sounds like I experimented in a lab...) I also do short stories (as in short short SHORT stories), some of them only 2-3 pages long, but I like to do them detailed then. My other ones, the 200-something page ones, they are not as detailed. I hope to learn from the people here! In both simming, creating, and writing! I also do a bit of poetry and I like to write songs lyrics, but not the actual notes, although I do read music and play piano . If you're interested I can post a short story based on Edward Allen Poe's "Eulalie", which is about a sad guy who falls in love with a beautiful lady and isn't depressed anymore (I'm not the greatest person at putting long poems in a nutshell.) Anyway, see you around. |
I'm Stacy. I'm 28 (so yeah, pretty old). I'm married and have four cats and my job is taking pictures of rental properties and putting out supra locks and signs and things.
I like all sorts of writing, although I'm afraid that Sims stories have spoiled me and I'd have a hard time writing full text without pictures. I think I tend to write best when I write horror or just bizarre silly stuff. I read a lot of Edgar Allan Poe as a kid, and it shows. When I finish Valley (shameless plug - it's linked in my sig) I'm going to take the characters and the basic idea and see if I can turn it into a full text short story or maybe a novel. |
well... I'm Jessie/Jess/Candiiee/Candy/Cand (or 'OI! YOU!') and I've written two poems that have ended up in books. *realises this is a bit mild compared to those who are writing/have written novels* but I am trying to write a story that doesn't suck. Mostly the plot moves too fast... so, I'm picking out random things (like my alarm clock or something like that) and describing them in great and glorious detail until I'm so bored I can't move. Bleh. I'm getting fed up of doing that.

Heyy! You can call me Caitlin, or really anything, as long as it's NOT Cate or Caity. I'm 13 and have been writing for a few years now. I love to write, and I mostly write poetry. My poetry is almost always depressing and dark, though I try not to be cliche. I don't know why it's so dark, as I'm not depressed or angry or anything like that. It's just the kind of thing that works for me, and the kind of thing I like. I'm also writing a novel, called Searching for Something, and my Sim story is sort of based off it. It's kind of a romance, but there's a lot more to it, and hopefully it'll be for young adults/teenagers.

Hello
I'm R.J. and I am a writer of the slipstream genre. Slipstream is science fiction mixed with fantasy, horror, etc. I have been writing for over twenty years in the short story and novella categories. I am currently in the process of pod-casting some of my stories now.
I would love to see some of my characters, ships and locations turned into Sims! Maybe some day. See you around. |
Hi, i'm oscarzoa, and I've written numerous sim stories and published them to the official site. Though, I decided a few weeks ago that I wanted to write a serious novel. So, currently, i'm writing Sun and the Stars, it's a vampire story, but nothing like the Twilight Vampires. It's OK, I guess.

Hello all, I like to write a varied assortment of stuff, anything from poems to rhymes short stories and fan fiction pieces. I have never written anything of great length but currently have taken on the task to try and write a fantasy novel of sorts.
I am far from a great writer, and still have terrible trouble with my grammar, thank god for beta readers is all I can say. But I try my best and what I come up with will always be at least readable, I have always had pleasant and kind comments on my work. |
welcome to the group! you will be great if you want!

Well I love to write. I am planning to sell some poems to a few newspapers(if I can convince my parents to let me). I am the type of writer that enjoys a book that doesn't have a happy ending since real life doesn't end with happiness. I would love to live off my writting but I know that it is very tough to do so. I plan to go to college and major in journalisim so I can still write and get paid. I can't wait to see my name in a best sellers list one day but if I ever write a book that is good enough to become a movie I will make sure it is as close to the book as possible.

I am Miserydoll (Or Misery, or just Mis), I am 21 years old with 2 children, and I am in the process of writing my first novel... for about the eighteenth time. And this time, just like all the rest, I am stuck about halfway through the first chapter. So I thought I'd prance on by and see if I could get any inspiration from the good people here!
As far as what I write: I'm awesomely incredible at what would be termed "fantasy romance". I flat suck at action and fighting but hey, I don't read it that often. My characters are strongly based off of people I have met and I like my stories/novels to be highly realistic, so i pour a ton of my time into research. Reading-wise, I have a few very favorite authors and one or two genres, and I tend to stay away from the rest. I know that's not terribly open-minded of me but hey, it's comfortable and I don't like change that much. ANYWAY, great to meet you all and hope to discuss more soon! ~ Miserydoll |
Hi! I'm in my 30's, working on my first novel and like writing sim stories. I write in the morning and play sims in the evenings instead of watching telly. I don't find writing easy (who does??) and get discouraged sometimes. But its the only talent i have. I have a learning disability which makes it difficult to find and keep jobs. I recently spent 12 years in the carer field and am looking to get back into that. I plan to get my first two novels published and if that happens, hopefully i'll have enough confidence to dream big. I would actually love to have a go at a screenplay one day.
I used to be squirrel but can't access that account anymore. Only I could lose an account. Cheers! |
Hi, I'm Zoe, and I write books / stories / Sims stories.
I've written half a book, that sadly, I abandoned because it sucked. I'm what you would call an amateur writer, it's rather a hobby than a profession. I'm working on a book as of right now, and also a story that will probably be worked into the Sims 2. |
Hi, my name is Helena. I usually write long stories, or at least I try I've never actually finished one. I also write plays, of which one has been performed at my school. My long stories are usually fantasy, and my plays are almost always reality or close to that.
The long story I'm working on now, is about 3 boys from this world end up in another world. In that world, lying is forbidden, and the people there use 'Earth' to scare children, as in: 'If you don't brush your teeth, you'll end up at planet Earth!' Another strange thing about that other world, is that it has people who carry around the last wish of someone who has died with them, untill they can deliver the wish to the one the dead person wanted to have the wish. It's rather complicated to write, because you have to take the morals and standards of both worlds in account. But I'll keep writing anyway! |
Im 13 and am trying to become a writer. Im not very good at it yet I mostly just imagine stuff in my head through out the day and try to link them somehow then my problem is getting it on paper. Im currently writing a story called "Maybe More" which im trying to make into a more realistic love story then most of the books Ive read where it goes"He saw her she saw him they go out fall in love and get married the end" Ive finished one chapter and might try posting it somewhere so others can read it and help me out. I also write poetry and sometimes I write random songs in my head

I'm Brandon. I like to write action and sci-fi stories. I try to get people to help me with them, but I end up going solo in the end. I get mad about this. I guess I'm naturally gifted with writing, and it's my favorite thing to do. I can usually get done with 5 pages within 2 minutes also.

Hi, I’m new around here! I’m 25 and write as a hobby. As a teenager I used to write a lot of fantasy but more recently my work has taken a turn to the soft and fuzzy side of science fiction. I’ve recently written a book which started off really well (despite being as horrible as any first drat) but at the 90K mark I realised the main character had turned into a self righteous little cow so I'm not going to continue with my plans to tidy it up and seek publication. Entirely my fault and I should have foreseen that but hey… I have a seven book series planed which is actually several stories told in the same universe that crossover in places rather than a single story that takes seven books to tell. Before I start that I decided to write some lighter stuff because the new series is promising to be very depressing. So after writing a few dark and dismal short stories I decided to start a story with my sims 3! Does it have a happy ending? Well... define happy ending for me please? Lol.
So… pleased to meet you all! |
My name's Laura and I'm 18. I have started writing my first novel in December and, so far, it's going great. My characters are based on people I know, and the action is kinda my life and my feelings transposed into the novel. I'm best at fantasy and romance. That's it, now I'll go finish my broccoli.

I'm Mary and I'm 15. I began writing my first serious story (I can't call it a book - 3.5 parts are 70 pages collectively) in June of 2010 and am still working on it... or I would be, if I didn't suffer from such shitty writer's block. This story revolves around an online game I and my friends play, though it has moved away from that and into alien planets. I started writing the story for a contest (it didn't place ) and just continued it from there. It incorporates my three friends, although I killed one, and the writing style is.. snarky, I guess?
My parents and friends say I'm a great writer, and I do agree with them, not to sound conceited. But I do have horrible writer's block, and have barely written anything in months. Poo. Keep writing! |
Hello!
I'm Zsófia, but it can be translated to Sophie... well, just call me Moirrey. I'm 16 and I really like writing, although I haven't done any "great" work yet. I write novels, poems, and stories illustrated with Sims 2. One of my "simsy" stories had been published on a hungarian website, but none of my other works (yet). My favourite style is fantasy, sci-fi, action and drama. Well, that's all about me. |
Hello, I'm Amber. I'm
|
I'm Gabriella, 14 years old and I've been writing for 3 years. I have stuff on wattpad, fanfiction .net, and YouTube.
My biggest story, ♥Love At First Sight, is being re-written to understand it. It took me one story about Zac Efron & Vanessa Hudgens to get me started. I've been writing on Windows Movie Maker and Libre office. And usually, my writer's blocks are temporary. I don't know what else to say. Fanfiction Pen Name: ZanessaFanGaily WattPad: ZanessaGaily YouTube: ZanessaGaily Also, I have expierence with voice over series. I am currently writing and editing my first Sims 2 story. It has no name and it is gonna be about 70 episodes long. |
Hello, I am Alicia, and I am a poet. I have been writing poetry since high school, and publishing poetry since college. I can usually find inspiration with writing poetry, but the past few years have drained most of it. But I still write poetry. My favorite poetry styles are free verse and pantoums, although I have written in other styles as well. I also like the hay-na-ku form of poetry; it is pretty easy to write in. What do any of you do when you have writer's block, and how do you overcome it? Looking forward to meeting all of you!
