The Sims 2 - Pet Peeves Thread! What makes you go "Grrrr?"
What annoys you in The Sims 2? What makes you go "Grrrr?"
Personally, as I have the Ultimate Collection, my game is in US English. I am Welsh, and I would rather have my game in UK English. Peeve-solving threads Improving graphics I'm bored! Game Help forum |
My main peeve is the poor quality of the lot renders when viewing the neighbourhood either from on lot or in neighbourhood view. Otherwise, I have the game set up just fine which has dealt with many things that would otherwise drive me up the wall.
|
The supernatural racism. Yes, the wanttrees file can be hacked, but you gotta know what you're doing, and I only true/falsed it. There's still the potential for making errors. I really hate how anyone who doesn't have Knowledge as a primary or secondary aspiration ends up being obsessed with curing the supernaturals - particularly if someone they just met and have maybe a few short term relationship points with has turned into a plantsim. That's one thing I like about Sims 3 - only the Supernatural Skeptics would be obsessed about curing the occults.
I also wish that the Pets expansion would have come with finger birds... you know, like budgies, lovebirds, conures and cockatiels. Or even the red-shouldered macaw - the smallest macaw species in the world. They could be considered parakeet macaws. |

I'm kind of hoping that TS4 does regress back to TS2 in many ways, but with the overall better graphics doable nowadays. It will remain to be seen. A TS2 with the graphics of a TS4 would be killer, but software developers never seem to go those routes, instead always opting to try to reinvent the wheel. As for my pet peeves about TS2, there are probably too many to list, so I'll have to think about it. |
I love to hunt and fish, so my pet peeve is there is nothing except fishing from a pond. It would have been great if while on an island vacation they added deep sea fishing (or just fishing from a pier) or on a mountain vacation you could go hunting. They loaded the game with a lot of fictional stuff, why couldn't they add RL stuff.
As for the Pets EP, my pet peeve there is why just add cats and dogs? I mean people own as pets horses, ducks (there's that hunting thing again), turtles and the likes. And why just pets? Farms have pigs, cows, chickens, horses, sheep, goats, and so on. And let's not forget the forest animals, like deer, coons, squirrels, bears, and so on. Yep the hunting thing again. |

Yeah, that would have been great, too. Instead of the skunk strolling around, a bear roams around and attacks. I left out shrimping. It would be great if they could go shrimping, too. |

Definitely a pet peeve with me too. I made a suggestion a couple of years ago in an obviously older thread about EP wishlists that they could have added hunting, safari and that kind of thing. It would also open up several related careers, such as veterinarian, game/zookeeper, safari/hunting guide, wildlife photographer, etc. An inexperienced Sim could go hunting for small game with no problem, but for larger game he would risk being attacked, with the risk lessened if the Sim took marksmanship lessons first, or used a guide. Desert neighborhoods could pose their own dangers, from occasional/rare snake bites or scorpion stings of varying lethalities. I doubt there will ever be anything related to firearms in this franchise though, because of the obvious modding "abuse" possibilities. The real-life possibilities for this series is practically unlimited, but I doubt we'll ever see it, which is why I wrote in another thread that an entirely different developer needs to come forward with the new Sim-type of game. |
Pet peeves with non-CC game: "OK, let's build. I like this color of brown. This matches, this looks great, this looks fine, this ... OK. WHY doesn't this even vaguely match? It's not even close!"
And hence the need for recolors. Lots of 'em. The animals in Pets ... agreed. There are so many other animals EA could have added. I would have liked the turtles! (Pouts.) Mrs. Crumplebottom and friends. Certain NPCs can strike fear into my heart. Good thing I can ban 'em most of the time. The blocky nature of so many Maxis hairstyles. Oh, pet peeves like these make me appreciate CC creators even more! |
When it's okay when a bunch of communal showers are in one bathroom and its fine for a sim walking in when other sims are in plain view of them showering but they refuse to walk into that bathroom if the showering sim is behind a curtain in the base-game, square, 1-tile shower. NOPE, that sim MUST respect the showering privacy of the other (unless they are good friends/loves with the showering ism in question).

I'm going to list pet peeves that have NOT been fixed by mods or hacks (or at least none that I know of).
1. I don't like how dogs only have TWO Play interactions, and how cats only have THREE! You can do so much more with a dog and cat, but now all my Sims do is play razzle, fetch, cat teaser, toss in air, and finger wiggle. Seems like a lot? Nah, not to me. And it does get quite repetitive... 2. You can't fish from beaches. What the heck, I can fish from a pond, but I can't get saltwater fish? No fair... 3. Kids can't go to community lots by themselves without an older Sim present. Combined with BO's Kids and Pets Unattended mod, it's nice to have my Sim kids go out when mommy and daddy are at work, but I apparently can't... 4. You need to organize an outing just to have your family sit together at a restaurant. Sure, you can use the "Outing.../Just For Fun" option, but it would be nicer if I got a menu where I could painlessly choose the Sims I want to have dine at the restaurant. 5. The pathfinding. It's certainly a step-up from the pathfinding in The Sims 1 (where it was virtually impossible to have one-tile wide hallways because Sims would always get stuck in them!), but there's so much starting and stopping and arm-waving and complaining in crowds of Sims. Good thing I have moveobjects handy to pluck my Sims out of the mess. |
The fact that when you move sims out of a house (with the intention of moving the house to a different downtown and moving the family back in it again) all their furniture etc automatically gets removed, unless you put in the "object stay on move out" blue flower mod. Maxis should have sorted that one out really from the offset and it has always irritated me.
Even the mod I use has its disadvantages - eg, when you move the family out of the house the value of the house drops to at least a half or even 1/3 of its original value. Similarly I think it's a bit dumb that you can build and furnish apartments but then when you move a sim in, there is no option to rent the apartment furnished unless you do "boolProp testingcheatsenabled", get close to the door and click on it while pressing the Shift key. |
jodemilo, The furniture disappearing was the designers attempt at cleaning the lot, it removes numerous sims references, gets rid of certain bugs and is actually a good thing. A nuisance, but a good thing.
My biggest peeve or really disappointment was the Pet's EP and how much was not included. I never understood why they didn't include the dog show from pet stories. maybe pet stories came after I'm not sure, but they could have patched it in. Cat's can't sit in a lap or climb trees. Dogs should at least bark at a burglar and wake the household and maybe depending on it's personality scare the burglar off but they do nothing. There should have been more small pets and talking caged birds should actually sat little phrases at passing sims. Apart from the pets I was also disappointed that they did not include skiing, they gave a snow mountain holiday with no skiing, what kind of snow mountain holiday is that? |
Jodemilo, the furniture-deletion most likely prevents corruption from left-behind instances, so I for one am glad they left that. Though it would of course be better if it didn't cause corruption to begin with.
I'm with k6ka on the animal interactions. I don't care that much about having more types of animals, but I'd like to see the existing ones have more "uses". Cats should sit in Sims lap when they watch TV or use the computer, or better yet, climb on the keyboard. They should wake Sims up by getting in their face and asking for food. Dogs should jump up on Sims returning home, and sleep on their feet at night. Or with their butt in the Sims face, like my dog does with me. There should have been many more ways to actively interact with them, specially with kids. I generally think there are too few integrated interactions between Sims, where they duo-use an object or interact with each other. Like a kid and a parent watching TV, the kid should be able to curl up next to the parent, and perhaps even fall asleep. People should be able to cook together. And there should be more interactions between siblings, with fights, teasing and all that. I know there are some, but I want to see moar! |

You put way more thought into this than I did. I was thinking more on the lines of just hunting and putting fresh food on the table. Like with the fish, it gives you a different meal that you can only cook if you have it in stock and it gives you the sparkly meal. And maybe possibly add to the nature ethusiasm. But hey, add yours and mine together and there are more possiblities. An EP that adds all animals or right up their ally to make more money, 3 EPs. One that adds farm animals and more crops that when added to your fridge you are able to cook Ham (pig), corn on the cob (new corn crop), turkey, scramble eggs and bacon (chicken, turkey or duck eggs and pork), steak and eggs ( same as before only beef instead of pork)possiblites are endless. One that is strictly towards hunting in the forest like deer, bear, coons, squirrels, bull frogs, wild boar, rabbits, even snakes, and so on. Foods that they would be able to cook here could be like rabbit stew, frog leggs, and so on. And one that adds big game hunting, things that could be added with this expansion would be all your suggestions like safari, the different careers, and so on. I really like the marksmanship aspect you had. Each expansion could have another neighborhood added or maybe an exotic destination like Africa for the big game. Of course we know this will never happen, which brings me to another pet peeve that kind of has to do with TS2 but don't. I really hate it when Microsoft does an upgrade and the games you love no longer work on the new upgrade. It would be nice that EA released upgrades of their old games. This is why I invested into Full Version on XP, so if and when my computer gives out, I can still have XP installed into another computer. I own most of TS3 Eps and SPs, but by reading forums here, I think they will just sit on my computer desk unopened. As for TS4, unless they offer something in the way we spoke of for hunting to entice me, I will keep my money and buy something else. Just not interested in anything else other than TS2 unless they add hunting to the mix. |

My pet peeve is that aspirations can't be added to the game. I feel that there is an important one missing, which would be some type of altruistic aspiration. It would be good to have a Sim who was focused on making the world a better place. I also get frustrated with Fortune Sims who want only to buy stuff. It seems to me that many of their wants should be focused on doing things that make money, and sometimes that happens, but often all the wants are for stuff that doesn't always fit into their home.
|
my pet peeve is with the FT food enthusiasm ---being able to serve different platters--like the chips and dip or the cheese and crackers...once you serve them--there is no way to "call to meal" your guests so that they can take part in the food.
and also--why can;t my sims cuddle and watch tv at the same time--if the cuddle interaction is started--they turn off the tv....I can see if it is on a skill building station like cooking but movie watching too??? |
I really do hate how sending a Sim to a community lot is like time travel. But then there's a mod for that, even if it technically isn't past the beta stage.
|

Not fair! |
Cats actually have three or even four depending how you look at it. Scratching post and tower, birdie on a stick and a mouse. Dogs have the stick that the sims throw, but it isn't an item from the catalog.

(Aka fart on people and laugh, then run away) Basically he's an adult that acts like a child. He may be recently out of his teen years, but still. The only good thing about him is that he'd actually fight the Crumple-crone. He won't win, but he'd fight her. Of course, there needs to be a way to counteract him....so I imagine there should be an option to call the cops on him. Or beat him up. He's weak. Very weak. You'd get a guaranteed win there. And you can choose to banish him from places, but like real life, it's on a place by place basis. He won't appear that often anyways, you could deal with it. And he'd be 100% optional, so if you don't want him in your game, he won't be there. |
So, we can make new hood templates using SimCity 4. Great. But we can't edit the hoods in our game. Really, really bugs me that they never gave us a "create a hood" or "edit hood" part to the game. At least let me add/remove or adjust roads, but no, not possible. Also bugs me that they required two spaces along the edges of the lots. Why? There is no purpose to that. Makes creating an urban environment impossible without mods. Those two were my biggest peeves for a long time. Thankfully, I'm not one to hold grudges. :D

I don't know their names offhand, but they both have a blue name sticker on them. I think there might even be a matching fridge. They're not grouped the same as the later models though, so it's not obvious. Here, these things: I'm pretty sure the fridge isn't base game, but the other three might be. I'm not really sure. They all have the blue buttons. |
Only the trash compacter is base game, the others there came with an EP or SP.

My pet peeve is how easily you can corrupt your game if you don't know what you're doing. Other peeves include; only one last name when you're creating a household, inability to change surnames without an outside program, and the crappy social workers,
|
That there isn't a simple option to break off a relationship between two sims at any time regardless of the state of the relationship. Would it really have been so hard to include that rather than having to resort to cheating or waiting for ages for the relationship to drop low enough? I tried 2 mods neither of which worked so I had to resort to cheating to have a quick breakup, blegh.
Also constantly turning build cheats on and off as I need them like snapping objects to the grid, I really miss TS3 where you can just press alt. |
First of all, don't get me wrong. The Sims 2 is an excellent game and if Ultimate Collection is ever released on disc I would instantly add it to my gift wish list.
Things nobody's mentioned yet: - Vastly different sims reacting exactly the same way with others/NPCs. Let's say an extremely sassy teen on a date gets lectured by Ms. Crumplebottom, why would they cringe when they could just fire back at her? The date might not end well, but it would serve her right. (At least I think it would.) Or, for that matter, sims that avoid fights/disagreements at all costs. - One kid getting one "F" report card on an unmodded game summons a social worker who takes it out on the parents and takes all their children younger than teenagers. Yes, I realize what the game designers were trying to teach here, however it seems a bit harsh compared to what could have been coded as requiring to pay for extra after-school tutoring. And on the same subject that teens are more worried over Ds than Fs. - If someone has a toddler they don't bother teaching toddler skills, when they grow up and start walking, talking, and using the toilet by osmosis. One would think that would be a lot more important than the grades thing. - That aspirations don't clash more, like a fortune sim being upset when their teen children (or even significant other they thought they knew) don't get jobs right away while a knowledge sim is unhappy to see their other family member buy stuff so much. - Every restaurant serves the same thing at the same price (at least with the expansions I have). "Yeah I'll order the Lobster Thermidor" at a bowling alley. The Downtown in Sims 1 at least got this one right, even if that game only had generic food. - A sim throws a party, makes drinks at the bar and some form of irrestible food (ex.: turkey, salmon, calls for pizza), has plenty of games and things to do at hand, while the guests immediately raid the refrigerator for chips and soda. (I've been known to temporarily put the refrigerator into a host's inventory for the party just to avoid this.) - Everyone of the same age is the same height. I've only played Sims 1 and Sims 2, but when I learned they haven't even figured this out for Sims 4; aargh. This is enough beating up on a wonderful game by me for one day. |

Probably the serious lack of cockatiels and bunnies. I mean real bunnies with long ears, and not the dog-bunnies from downloads on this site. Also, fruits are apparently inedible unless juiced or stocked in the fridge. And of course... the spells. You can make a sim act like a chicken, but you can't turn a sim into a chicken. Nor can you cast a spell that turns everyone in the cathedral into a chicken... except yourself of course!

A couple of peeves re toddler interactions I remembered from playing tonight: 1 - when someone goes to the bookshelf to read a book to a toddler, and by they time they've selected the book and come back to the infant it's off doing something else! So you cancel out what it's going to do, by which time the adult goes back to the bookshelf and we have to start all over again. Grrr.
Secondly, when someone is trying to do a sequence of interactions with a toddler, and the kid stands up (then usually rotates in a different direction) and sits down between each one. Sooo tedious waiting. ( |
I love toddlers, but yes that read a book dance is a big peeve of mine.
|
The read a book is a pain because they do it so often and when they have low motives.

Another peeve I just thought of... when a child brings another child home from school and it's ALWAYS the same child (a non-playable), and rarely ever one of the many playable children I have in the hood. In my case the visitor is usually a child called Melody Kody. This is why i do toddlers, kids and teens clubs for my playables.... I teleport them all in and FORCE them to meet!

You need to actually play the game for a bit and not load it up and turn it off again. |
I love Sims2 but it peeves and frankly, rather irks me in the way the game handles pregnant sims. I know in real life there are some difficult pregnancies and I would not make a small matter of that. But sims not being able to leave their lot after a bump, oh my. Pregnancy does not, as a rule, make you fragile. This is not a rant but sometimes I do wonder what was somebody thinking. I suppose it was to make sure the sim was on the lot at birth. Also the fast motives drops seem extreem to me.

My new biggest pet peeve is with this blonde Pleasantview kid with a red shirt randomly calling new residents I just think "who the hell are you and why the hell are you calling me?" He just calls and hangs up, now forever lurking in the sim's relationship panel.

Okay, I love this game. It's my favorite of all of the Sims games I've played (have not played Sims 4, but will once it goes on sale). But I do sometimes wish some features in Sims 3 were in it. I can live without CASt, I am fine without an open world, but what I really like in Sims 3 is the ability to make diversified body shapes. I cannot play a story hood I've been thinking of for a while, because the Sims in it, do not fit into Sims 2 categories of slimness. I really liked the various body mods that were released, but I do play a maxis-match game, and it's just hard to get the body-shape and the exact correct piece of clothing that matches the Sim and is available on that body mesh. I don't know, I just wish I could have bigger Sims easily in the game, without confusing mods (I've never used the body mesh mods because they are confusing and have so many parts).
Eh, I can live without it, and I just play other hoods. It was interesting seeing my Sims 2 sims get more of a body in Sims 3 when I remade them (I did love that). But the Sims 2 runs so much smoother and is more enjoyable for me, so I still stick with it. |
The first thing that comes to mind is when sims can apparently see through the floor and decide that there is absolutely no way that that other sim will move away from the fridge before they get to it and so they shouldn't even bother going downstairs.
And the second is dropping actions! I set up queues of six or seven actions, thinking I've timed them perfectly so that everyone gets what they want and no one gets in anyone else's way. But then one sim takes a different route than I planned or takes two sim-minutes less or more to complete an action, another sim is left stomping and waving their arms, and then they decide that breakfast isn't as important as it's hyped up to be and run off to take a bath in the tub that a third sim is using. No. You /wait/. They're already out of your way by the time you finish stomping and flailing! |
You should be able to get it off Ebay at a reasonable price.
|
I would imagine ebay counts as shopping online jo
|
I missed that. Well if they are a teenager maybe they should ask a parent to get a copy for a birthday or Christmas.

But you aren't just discussing pet peeves with Sims 2. You're pointing out how much better Sims 3 is. You don't even play Sims 2 anymore, so they're obviously more than just peeves. |
I have to agree with Charity here, although I do think people are very quick on the 'disagree' button, whenever there's any critisism against the Sims 2 (unless it's spun with a bit of humor).
In this particular case, your 'peeves' were all about color customizing and loading screens, which, as Charity pointed out, are really just differences in how Sims 2 and Sims 3 are built up. I don't think either of those things would have bothered you before you began playing the Sims 3, because it didn't exist in a Sims game until then. So personally, I agree with both sides for different reasons. Just my opinion (that no one asked for, but I'm one of those types). |
I know and it was very obvious to me from your post that you meant no disrespect or offense, which is why I was very surprised at the amount if disagrees it recieved.
I'm only saying how I believe that your post was percieved by some. Perhaps if specific Sims 2 peeves had been included aside from the Sims 2 Vs. Sims 3 ones, it would have been percieved differently. I have spent enough time on forums by now to know that wording can make a gigantic difference in how people react to your post. I hope this doesn't discourage you completely from stating your opinions on the forum. I know I myself went kind of dorment after (involuntarily) having caused conflict in another thread, where a joke I made at romance sims turned into an argument about male chauvinism and feminism. Each kind of forum has its own mentality. The more you get to know it, the better you adapt, without having to stay quiet about anything that might not be well-recieved. Being the type to find it impossible to keep my mouth shut and my thoughts to myself, I know this very well. |
Talking about how much happier you are with Sims 3 without these annoying things will be what irked people. Just don't mention Sims 3 and let a peeve stand on its own without comparing it to Sims 3.
|
If you post in the Sims 2 section saying you prefer Sims 3 and then go on to say things that imply you are bashing the Sim 2 you will get some aggro back. Not that you can't post, but don't expect the entire board to be fine with it. Same thing if you do that in the Sims 3 section, with posts that imply Sims 2 is better. Depending how it's worded a person can stir up a hornets nest. A few disagrees is the least you can expect.
|
I think in general speaking of Sims 3 at all is at risk of disagrees (really though, why do everyone take them so seriously? So someone disagreed, big deal). It's a Sims 2 forum, and most people here are tired of being told Sims 3 this or that. They want to discuss the game they prefer to play, without comparisons with any other game.
|
My biggest pet peeve is the fact that some life states are so hard to kill - zombies and servos in particular. They're immortal and can't be killed easily (although I think the cowplant takes care of servos, and maybe zombies too?). It's very annoying if you're no longer interested in them.
|
When playing the game I have pet peeves but when not, I tend to forget about them. There are some I remember:
Adults constantly taking a toddler for a bath when it's not needed at all; Floors, walls, tables and chairs that don't match; If a kid is treated badly by the parent there are no consequences. There should be a really low relationship score for a start, but the kid grows up happy and liking their parents. |

I really don't worry about the pets - rarely play with them anyway, find them boring in general (but I still want to have Pets for the werewolves and things). I would like my Sims being able to fish in the sea - but then they don't see the sea that often for I am partial to the Far East vacation hood. I am quite sure a child can go to a community lot on his own - sure I've sent some - as long as it's during the day? Will have to look into that (it is possibly something that came with an update?) I modded out Crumplebottom and the pickpocket. Tried to mod out the skunk but he stays around for some reason - though he does not really do much.
Howver - this is NOTHING compared with the things in Sims 3 that drove me back to Sims 2 within one month |

I have the opposite problem. My sim kids and teens are 99% guaranteed to bring home a playable. I wouldn't mind the same few non-playables coming over, but sheesh, I just need them to show up first! |

Oh, I just remembered.. it's not just the Kody kid who is always wanting to come back, but also the teen Meadow Thayer. At first I thought I could integrate Meadow into my playables as she wasn't bad looking, and moved her in with a family whose own children had flown the nest, but she's probably the most boring sim in the world, with the personality of a gnat. No guys really found her hot, so I gave up on her. I do have that Twojeff's hack which is supposed to randomise the sims coming back as well as give you the option to visit in the first place. Whenever it's Meadow, I just tell her to get back on the bus and go home. |
I dunno I kinda like Meadow Thayer, and she makes a pretty cute plantsim. I've sent her to college and had her grow up before. She has the same voice as Brandi Broke and Dina Caliente. I might make a Neighbourhood where the teen townies, including the Downtownies, are all sent to college. Dunno if I'll send the exotic locations teens though unless they don't get reset.

What really annoys me is how sims who are not Family sims will never tend to roll 'Have a baby' want. I'm sure there are people who have other life dreams but also would like to have a family, even if it was a small one.
Also, I agree with OP on the Pets EP not including as many pets as it should. There are so man animals that people domesticate and they don't just stop at the womrats and birds. They should've adde more animals with more "special" interactions. They could've added farm animals in the Pet EP cause it would be fitting. That's it for now... Until I remember something else... |
"Hey, _____, are we still friends? I never hear from you anymore, so I figured I'd check in to see what was going on. Would it kill you to make an effort every once in a while?"
YES, YOU ARE STILL FRIENDS, YOU ONLY SPOKE TO THEM YESTERDAY |

GREAT Pescado mod that fixes this up plus other phone-related annoyances. "3. To a sim, yesterday was a year ago. I believe Pecado has a mod to stop those messages, but I don't know what it is called.
*Ninja'd by Charmful who was way more helpful as she had an actual link. |
One good thing about playing a ten year old game is that most annoying things that can be modded, have been modded.

I didn't mean my comment to sound the way it did. I was at work and trying not to get caught again by my boss.
Your comment "I only just downloaded this recently, so I haven't tried it out yet myself, but I'm looking forward to!" Since I recently downloaded it when Maxon posted the link, I was only trying to let you know it works great in game. |

No, I know. I can't see how your reply could possibly look negative, lol. I appreciate it! I was just slightly embaressed for having re-posted a link that I got from this very thread to begin with, without realising it. |

This is puzzling me, because my non-family sims roll "Have a baby" every now and then. Not nearly as often as Family sims, but it does pop up occasionally. Most of my sims have rolled it immediately after getting married, and it often shows up immediately after their youngest child becomes a child, but it also appears at random. In my game Johnny Nigmos-Smith (Popularity) rolled one straight after his wedding, and both Lazlo Curious (Knowledge/Pleasure) and his wife Kirsten (Fortune/Pleasure?) rolled it a few days after they married. And my lesbian couple both rolled "Adopt a child" immediately after their wedding, and neither of them are family sims.

I certainly agree with this. The only reason I bought TS3 Pets after being bored by TS2 Pets was because TS3 has horses. And horses are a lot more fun than just cats and dogs. To be really good, Pets should have included horses and more small pets like TS3, and also other farm animals like sheep and chickens (and not the stupid TS3 Store tied-to-the-henhouse chickens either!). But I suppose that would have taken far too much time. My pet peeve I suppose is about how the sims react to pregnancies and kids - everyone apparently knows exactly who a sim's father is, but no-one reacts! It would be nice if, when a married woman has an affair that results in a baby, her husband either believes the child is his, or finds out it isn't and reacts appropriately. I suppose it's too difficult to code. |

However, again, it doesn't mind me that much. Every so often I'll make a family where a family aspiration teen wants to take care of any new siblings while the parents with other aspirations (especially pleasure) daze off (even if they don't actually roll those wants). I've even had teens that have fully-trained toddlers and have higher relationships with their older sibling(s) than with their parents. |
I'm finally starting to explore the world of CC and am quickly getting peeved at one particular practice which I see a lot of, namely, making a dozen recolors for largely irrelevant parts of objects, such as tiny buttons, knobs, doorhandles and similar things.
Maxis of course is guilty of this as much as anyone, with a half dozen or more recolors for tiny bathroom fixtures such as faucets, bathtub rims/feet and the like. I really don't need 12 goddamn recolors of sink faucets, ranging from gold, shiny metal, dull metal, light copper, medium copper, dark copper, black, white, light gray, dark gray, etc, etc, ad nauseum. W T F? I'm finding out that if I include some CC in an upload, it often includes recolors I didn't actually use in the Lot, which means I have to spend an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out which ones to actually include in the upload. A dozen recolors for a 1964 Mustang is great - not so much for a goddamn fucking toilet handle. Edit: And before someone tells me that I can delete unwanted recolors - thanks, I'm aware of that, but it isn't always as simple as just deleting an unwanted color. It seems that usually there is one "base" color that is used for the mesh, which can't be deleted, as well as various permutations of various parts of a object. It can get tricky. It just seems to me that many CC creators seem to create some of these things just to show off their artistic skills, when what they really should be improving on is their basic English skills so they can adequately explain their uploads without coming across as a scatterbrained dingbats. |
But the answer is simple Rob; don't download it. If its the post is not clear to you then post in the comments. As a creator I find that most people want recolours of things to be split into subsets where possible, and creators rarely appreciate being called a dingbat and it does not stimulate them to change
What did I discover about TS2 today? That I have lost interest in it |

I don't know where you're downloading from, but I have almost 5GB of CC and I've never seen that. And seriously, what a creator makes is up to them. If they want tiny handle recolours then they can have them and we should be glad that they're prepared to share them for free. |
A big pet peeve with me is when creators recolour things and the subsets, in my view, dont match in any pairing.
|
Do you eat angry pills for breakfast Rob? Because it sure seems like it.

The fact that I can't have a parking space in the back of the house. Instead it has to be in the front and only the front.
No cars at all in apartments. Pets in restaurants, In the REAL world that restaurant would be shut down for health code violations. |

You can place parking anywhere, with moveobjects on...you just won't have the cool animation that goes with it, and makes it..great to own a car in the Sims2, but still.
There is also, Rotatable Driveways and Rotatable Garage Doors for your convenience. I had them, but in my game for some reasons, it reacts strangely. And as Charity said, front facing street is not a must, and it is not the reason why it would not work for apartments. It just gets hard to give all unit, a car..because of how big a covered parking spot takes..making your apartment lot huge for nothing. I'll try posting a pic of a 4 unit lot i made, each have their car..2 facing street(normal way) while 2 facing back...NO facing front, but with NO link TO the street..sorry, my bad. Works well, minus the animations, for those 2 units. |
Where did you get the idea that you can't have cars in apartments?
If I want a car at the back I just put down a driveway extension piece where I want the car to be and place the car on that. Now that we have rotatable driveways it's very easy. |

You have to place cars before anyone moves into the apartment complex, so thinking you can't have them isn't entirely wrong. You can, but you need to plan for it in advance.
|
If the garage is part of the apartment they should be able to buy a car while living in the apartment. Well i certainly hope so as I uploaded one like that recently with the thought people could place a car into the garage. Can anyone tell me if that is true?
