Ivy and Ivy Copur Made them sisters once.

I just always assumed they were related. I don't do anything about it because I don't mess with Sim PE or whatever it's called. It's scary and it frightens me.
|
I usually use the Simblender to set family ties, but I've noticed it doesn't seem to show up in the family tree unless you set parents too. Not sure if that's a problem for everyone or just me, because I haven't seen anyone else complain about it.

What's the difference between Ramen and Cup O Ramen?

Sim blender. I don't really know how to open SimPE
Ramen and Cup O Ramen - good question |

Ramen comes in a rectangular packet. You put it in a bowl, break up the solidified plastic noodles, sprinkle the salty meat-sort-of-flavored chemical packet over them, mix with water, and heat.
Cup O' Ramen is a tall styrofoam cup with the plastic noodles and chemicals already mixed up. All you have to do is add the water and microwave. I ate Ramen a few times in my extreme poverty days and I'm here to tell you - it's not worth it. |
I guess it is similar to what we call two-minute noodles and cup-of-noodles here.

Quick question: Does anyone else use moveobjects on to stick the batbox under house foundations?
|

Somewhere I saw a hack what transformed batbox into nice vase, so you don't need to hide it anymore.
|
I thought Ramen were the horsey people in the Thomas Covenant chronicles by Stephen Donaldson. What Peni describes sounds more like what we Brits call a Pot Noodle.
|
Here in Austrlia we call that 2 minute noodles.
Yes I always hide the bat box under foundation or if there is none in a bush or if it's a very tiny 1 by 1 with no space, under a bed. Pescado knows how to mod, not how to make things look pretty. |
I wish it was a paintin I could stick on the wall so then I'd never see it cuz most times I play with walls down.
|

Sounds 'bout right ... lol. However, it does hide well, either as some said under the foundation or if you don't use much of that the attic words too :D
|
It's only a buck. I buy it when I need it and delete it when I'm done using it. Except sometimes I may stick it in a foundation when I'm doing development in a shareable neighborhood and don't want to be messing with it constantly. Then it's mostly a matter of keeping it out of the way of pictures I'm taking for the storytelling folder. Same with the Tombstone of L&D - I spawn it once and put it somewhere inobvious, then take it out again when I'm doing the final clean sweep before sharing.
|
You don't put a Pot Noodle in the microwave! Unless I read that post wrong...
Anyway, back on topic we go! |
I started keeping batbox on all my lots after I needed it once to reenable controls and didn't have it on the lot - build/buy mode failed to become accessible again after a fire so I couldn't just buy it when needed.
|

The batbox does not bother me too much - I just put it at the back somewhere. It is like a street light in town - it has to be there.
|
I prefer to stick it under foundations because it kind of breaks immersion (that's not the exact word I wanted, but it's the closest to what I mean) for every family to have the exact same vase/flowerpot/something somewhere in their house.
|
I stick my batbox in the garage - best place for it in my view. Makes my garages less empty lol.
|
My batboxes usually get shoved into someone's inventory and only get pulled out when needed. I hadn't thought whether it would become inaccessible if buy/build mode went on the blink. I should probably start putting it somewhere I can always get to it.
There are a few different brands of ramen where I live. There are the kind you put into boiling water, the kind you pour boiling water into, and some you can microwave. There is probably also fresh/frozen ramen at one or more of the asian markets, but I've never been to them. Some are definitely better than others and can be dressed up a bit for a more full meal. |
I was watching an old Bates Motel (US tv show) the other day, and one of the characters was reading an article on successful dating. The article said the worst type of date food was ramen. I know it meant some kind of dish made with noodles, but all i could think of was American ramen noodles, which are just thin noodles with a flavor packet, commonly eaten when money is really tight. So, I thought, well if you're taking your date out of ramen noodles, I guess that would be a bad thing.

Yeah, me, too. If nothing else, I have other things in every house -- ACR adjuster, Sim Blender -- that looks like a plant. I start to forget which is which. So, the batbox remains the batbox and goes inside the foundation (if the house has one) or under the roof or in non-functional dormer space or, if all else fails, it sits at one of the back corners of the lot, with a bit of it left exposed to be clickable but otherwise hidden with rocks and trees and bushes and stuff, same way I hide pool squares to make on-lot water reflective and wavy and stuff. Now for my question: I'mma gonna yank all my custom eyebrows out of my game because they are annoying me for various reasons, and just keep my default replacements forevermore. My question is: Will I have Sims with no eyebrows that I'll have to individually change appearance on, or will they just get the appropriate default one instead, like what happens when you yank custom hairs? (I'm really hoping it's the latter, otherwise I'll have to gear myself up to do this...) EDIT: Real Japanese ramen made with wheat noodles and miso and stuff is actually very good. My husband makes killer vegan ramen. Those packaged instant noodles they sell with the flavor packet and all are completely different. (But, I admit, I also like them, too. A meal for about $0.20 these days? What's not to love? Not that I can eat them anymore, but I used to. A lot. ) |
In elementary school, some year or another Mr. Noodles were all the rage. I had lunch at home but the entire school would smell like instant noodles when I returned. (Actually, it wasn't that bad - I'm just hyperosmic).
And I absolutely hated the smell of instant noodles. |
Make a back up and test it out. I'll bet you a tray of special brownies that they will have no eyebrows though.
|
How does a sim sell the clothes that they make on a sewing machine?
|
I often make NPCs and townies (not just former townies) related if they have the same name, and, even if I don't actually set a relationship in SimPE, I often assume them to be distant relatives. For instance I think that Toby Bertino, the Veronaville headmaster, is probably some sort maternal uncle of Ravi Bertino the Tricou boy. Though I don't think that he would actually go as far as to let Ravi into his snobby school. Not that Ravi wants to go. Jack Gill has persuaded him that school is a waste of time, and they go to all-day nightclubs instead! I also create CAS townies with family relationships. When creating townie teens and children in CAS, you have to make them related to adults, and I don't remove all of those relationships. Playing the Tricou kids has made me like having related townies. I don't usually make them married; more usually they're siblings or single parents. (I do think the Tellermans in Pleasantview might be man and wife though -- despite Mrs. Tellerman being a rather wild Romance Sim!)
If the building has a foundation, I put the batbox under the floor. Otherwise, if it has a pitched roof, I put it in the roofspace, where you might find a water tank in a Real Life house. Exceptionally, if the building has a flat roof and no foundation, I can build a little brick enclosure with half walls onto the back or side of the building, and put the batbox there, where it might be an oil tank or something. |
The batbox and the lot sync timer are often both put in the roofspace but now they can be put anywhere because in my game one was turned into a little vase and the other one into a plant.
Now for the stupid question: is there a way to batch generating strays? I don't feel like creating them by hand. |

Food is determined to piss me off today. I can't get a custom food to show up for lunch and dinner. It only shows up for lunch. I have done this. http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=222202 Help! XD
Also, where in SimPE do you look to find the menu that shows up when you click make/single or make/many? I have some foods that are showing blank tabs there but show up fine under the regular menu. |

It goes into the inventory.

I sent my breeder to the bark park. I saw a cat. Sadly I couldn't tell if it was a stray or not. I don't recall a cat named Duchesse. I think mayor Natacha Morand will rule that owners must put collar on their pets.
Nostrayrespawn is still disabled on my game. I'll patiently wait for strays to generate. I still at the beginning of my round. ETA: checked from NH view; There's no cat named Duchesse in the households so it's a stray. |
The power networking - I hate the question "Do you mind if I give your number to Joe Bloggins?" I never know how to answer that because I find the wording so awkward with just yes/no for the answer. Is it "yes I mind, so don't give it to him" and "no I don't mind, do give it to him" or is it "yes, please give him my number" and "no, don't share my number"? It doesn't come up often enough for me to make a decent test of the effects of either response, but I haven't seen any change in acquaintances panel after either answer - is Joe Bloggins supposed to call if I've given one of the answers or does something else happen?
|
Yes I mind and no I do not mind. I think (but it's been awhile) that the other person will call your sim.
Why is it that pets will suddenly not be able to use the pet dishes? It gets annoying to have to moveobject delete them to make it work again. |
Thanks for the wording clarification.
For the pet dishes, when sims fill the dish they often turn it a bit so that it's facing toward a wall or some object and the pet can't get to it. Just turning the dish around so that the arrow is to an open space usually makes it work again. I've started putting pet dishes in the middle of large rooms or in the yard so it's open all around the bowl. If that's not the problem, try cleaning the bowl - finicky pets won't eat from dirty bowls. |
Pets can also be finicky. Seriously. If they're too Finicky, you'll have to regularly clean the bowls out. Or even buy the most expensive bowls because some of them don't want to eat out of the cheap bowls.
All else fails there's a mod for it: http://simmanipulator.forumotion.co...finicky-pet-fix |
They are in the middle of the kitchen, no walls near them, plus it happens with all bowls. I can't even direct them to eat from it til I moveobjects and delete the pet. Guess it's just one of those things lol.
|
That is not normal. I'd troubleshoot it - 50/50 and the whole yards. Once you find the mod conflict or the bad piece of CC that has no detecable relation to anything, you'll never be troubled by this again.

In the end, I went ahead and just yanked them because I realized I was in for some appearance-changing whatever the case. Either I'd have to change the affected Sims before yanking, or I'd have to fix eyebrow-less ones after yanking. In the end I figured it'd be easier to spot eyebrow-less ones and fix them that it would be to determine if a Sim had custom ones or not. So, out they went, without me doing any preliminary eyebrow-changing. Figured I'd report my results, for anyone who might see this exchange in the future. Because I dunno about y'all, but it irritates me when people don't do that, especially if they just say "Yay, I fixed it!" without telling how they fixed it. *grumble, grumble* But anyway... It's weird and I'm afraid I don't know who owes who special brownies, Jo. Because some of them that I knew for certain had custom brows because I had just recently given them custom ones had default ones instead. But others were eyebrow-less. And I don't know the rhyme or reason behind it all, but it seems to be what happened. So yeah, now I do have eyebrow-less ones wandering around, but it's not as awful as I thought it might be. I'll just grab 'em and fix 'em as I see 'em. @WildIrishBanshee I agree with Peni that that's not normal game behavior at all. Yes, there are the finicky pets and yes, sometimes the bowl gets turned around, but what you're describing isn't something like that. You're having to reset the pet (that's what happens when you "delete" them with moveobjects) to get them to eat, and that's not right, especially if it happens with ALL pets. If it only happened with one pet, then that might just be an issue with that particular pet, but if it happens with ALL pets, that suggests a larger issue at work. I'd do some testing in a CC-free environment to see if the problem still happens that way. If it doesn't, then it's likely a mod conflict or a bad piece of CC and you'll need to 50/50 to root it out. |
I'll add it to the list to be tested then. It's fairly random as to what pet it nails, but it does seem to affect all pets at some point or another. I figured it was just an annoying glitch, but I'll definitely have to test it out when I get a chance. Thanks guys!

I don't know if it's just my game, but I tend to see strays more on lots that already have pets. You shouldn't need a mod, it's normal game behavior. They'll start popping up all over the place.

Take a pet to a community lot, strays will turn up. Every time.

This is driving me crazy: I granted free entry to some sims on a player-owned community lot (business), and there's just no way to revoke that privilege. They keep coming back and by-passing the electro-ticket machine to just let themselves in. I'm tired of chasing them around to ask them to leave.
It was not a lifetime offer! Does anyone know where that information is stored in SimPE so I could delete it, or how it could be done in game? I've tried replacing the ticket-machine but it doesn't make a difference. I'd rather not have to sell the business and buy it back, it's part of a challenge |
I love that I know which files came from MTS and their creator as the zip file tells me. There are some creators who'll put their name in, so then that just means ya need to so searchin for them, which for old files doesn't always end well. Then there are those who don't put their name in the zip or in the name of the creation, for which sometimes they name it somethin very simple or very weird. Oh yeah, then there are the files that are in a foreign language (which I'm not knockin, just my inability to understand the words and know what the creation is :p)
Sooo, is there a way to find out who made a creation when it doesn't tell you and you have no memory recollection of who or where you got it from be it from a download you did yesterday to one you did 10 years ago? Or am I just up a creek without a paddle, or is it with just 1 paddle .. lol, on this issue? I do have some stuff in folders of the names of where I got the item, which unfortunately time has passed and so has the site, so I can't look them up that way. |
From 10 years ago? probably not. You could take a look in Clean Installer or simpe. If it was yesterday, drag a picture into the Rar.
|
Quote: Originally posted by joandsarah77

Lets say you want to download Cat's new male shirt. http://www.modthesims.info/d/573989 because it's an MTS creation there is no photo in the file. Once you have the file download put your mouse over the picture, hold down the left mouse button and drag the picture until it is over the rar file. Let it go and the picture will be inside the Rar. If you have a picture of the download you always know what it is. Now keeping pictures in your Download folder does slow loading, but I do that with everything. Or you could make a duplicate folder outside of your game just for holding the rar's and pictures.
|
Ahh, yeah gotcha, however I was askin for places where you don't know where you got it from, even if you'd did it yesterday. When you go browsin the web and dl'in stuff you don't always recall where you got somethin from and if the zip or item itself doesn't say ... :/
I do try and remember to get a pic of the item, but I do sometimes forget and so I end up with a zip file with a name such as wooden flooring and the file names themselves are called floor 1, floor 2, floor 3. |
I swear there was a cheat where you could hide the neighborhood plumbobs/apartments/business dollars/etc above lots, so you could take nice photos?
Can't find anything on Google. But I swear it exists! Anyone know what I'm talking about? And if you do, can you please tell me how does one achieve this? Because I neeeeeeed. *grabby hands* |

I'm working on Bigg City, in a BG+Uni+NL configuration, and I want two of the ghosts to die permaplat. The batbox won't toggle it on; I don't know why. Just setting them to the tops of the correct careers in SimPE doesn't register as filling a lifetime want. I can't legitimately fill the lifetime want, even with cheats, without adding too many people to the neighborhood for them to be friends with. So I'm looking in SimPE, and I don't see any obvious place to turn it on.
Would it work to add the memory of filling the LTW? And if it does, would the state be wiped along with the memories if someone resurrects them? |
Peni, could you perhaps temporarily add one of those mods that disables the need for friends for job promotions?
|
Quote: Originally posted by Peni Griffin
I don't think that would fulfill the lifetime want. But I have never tried this out, so I can't really say, "No, it doesn't work." The game doesn't seem to just add the memory; the game seems to do more things during that process. (Adding the specific LTW into the sim' Wants and Fears history record, adding a permaplat token, probably some more things of which I have no idea)

The batbox doesn't work for me either. Weird. TwoJeffs' SimBlender will max the aspiration and Cyjon's Lot Debugger (pizza box) will satisfy a LTW, so there's two easy ways to put a sim in maxed platinum, but apparently neither mod will give the actual memory of satisfying a LTW.
This discussion at Simbology.com only confirms that neither the batbox nor the pizza box adds the LTW memory. I messed with Jennicor Tricou a bit. She has plenty of memories, but Maxis never bothered to give her one of WHY she went platinum. I resurrected her in Testing Town - she did keep all her original memories. My game is heavily modded though, which might have affected that - you might want to test this yourself and see if that's the case in your own game. I am totally clueless about SimPE, so I can't help you there. |
I don't see a lot debugger from Cyjon. The batbox is the only lotdebugger I know about; and it should toggle the state on and off, but it didn't.
I don't want to do a lot of futzing around in memory, but I don't mind providing a few. I'm most concerned about getting the state and satisfying the LTW - and I'd really rather not poke around in the SWAFs, where even Mootilda couldn't tread with confidence. The mod's a good idea; I'll stick that in. |
The Batbox didn't work for me either - dunno why. Cyjon's debugger is very useful. Definitely consider trying it out.
http://www.cyjon.net/node/148 |
Well, I'll download it and see if I need it.
So, does anybody know a fix for urns in apartments disappearing from the apartment where they belong and appearing in the other apartments? If I have to keep respawning Vidcund's, the poor Harts will be constantly reliving her death! |
I need to know the name of a maxis street lamp.
I have an issue with a maxis lamp is being overwritten and I ran a GUID conflict scan, but yikes it's put a hundred items to all kinds of things including mods. I need to know the Maxis name of the lamp post. It's modern looking with a round ball globe on top and I think the lamp part comes in red, black maybe some other colours. I used it on my lot here http://www.modthesims.info/d/542892 Peni, I would not keep graves or urns on an apartment lot at all, I would move it to a cemetery. |
If it's over-writing it, couldn't you install that lot of yours and see which object shows up instead of the lamps? Or is it only over-writing it in the catalog so you can't place it again?
|
Normally I wouldn't either, but I want Vidcund's ghost to manifest at least once.
I suppose he could give it to Pascal to keep till she spawned, and then he could send it to the cemetery. |
@gummilutt I don't know what is overwriting it. A few days back I could not find it in the catalog so I'm not sure how long it's been gone for either. I ran a GUID scan which is very confusing. maxon said she would change the GUID number for me, but that requires me to find it. I thought if I had the name of the maxis lamp that has gone I should be able to find that in this huge list it's given me. Is it a Pet's object? If I knew which EP or SP it came from I could look through the default object data base.
After a bit of a look, it appears to be called 'There are four lights' ? http://slig-lj.livejournal.com/4115.html |

|
I don't know if it'll help, but I have debug mode on, so:
|
Thank you so so much! I used the GUID number and found it, it's now belongs to a Light up nativity. I was thinking lamp post, but that's like a deco item that lights up. Goodness that lamp must have been gone awhile since I downloaded the nativity over Christmas.
Well I assume it is, the file I am looking at uses capital letters not lower case, does that matter? |
Does anyone else mix up all the Newsons' names? Why oh why do they all have to start with G? Did Maxis have a sick sense of humour?
|
^ yes ^
|
Does imparting knowledge give charisma skill points? I had a sim imparting knowledge for body skills and her charisma skill want re-rolled. I never used that option before and thought I'd have a sim try it out, the other sim gained points quickly. Another thing I noticed was at the Science hobby lot where a sim was using the medical dummy. The leader came over and kept talking, I think it was 'giving lessons' or something. She gained skills pretty quick too. I do have the mod for skilling on community lots.
|
I have a question about hair recolors - when you do a recolor, bodyshop pulls every age group into the project folder. If I only recolored the adult age, can I just delete the other ages from the folder so they're not packaged with the file? I'm trying to clean up some files before I post them, but of course, I don't want to break them.
|
Just out of curiosity, why would you not include the other age groups? If the mesh does not have them and that age group is replaced by a maxis hair I understand it, but if the mesh has them and the texture is the same (which it usually is), why not include it?
Theo's hair binner can remove unwanted hair groups. Never tried deleting them from the project folder so I can't say if that would cause problems. |
It's hair with gray roots and streaks, so not something most people would put on younger Sims.
I never could get the hair binner to work, but I'll try deleting the unused ages and importing them into the game tonight, if no one knows if it'll work. |
Ah, I see. Yes, I suppose you'd only want that for adult I could do it for you, if you can't get it to work.

I had Wise Old Man appear in my relationships panel recently, so obviously I was crapping beyond possibilities. He stayed in the panel at the hotel, but went from the panel when my family went home from vacation.
Is this normal? |

In my experience, it doesn't have to, no. But others experience the opposite, so I'm not sure what the answer really is.
|
Does anyone know the etymology of Desiderata Valley? Its name just seems a bit out of place amongst the other Sims 2 'hoods.
|
I know this is going to sound redundant and silly, but there's one burning question I have about the Maxis beach lots (templates):
If you have an island and want to use an empty beach lot template to build a residential house, is it all right to turn them around to fit them onto the map? Are they fixed in position for a certain map? The second part of that question: once they're placed on the lot/map, do they have to stay on the map/location for fear of glitchiness? |
Every year or so, I get tired of my Multi-PT pack. I like the facial features, but I want new skins. Is it possible to open my PT's in Body Shop and change the skin color or do I have to get a whole new pack?
