Requests & Where are the forums? - A small guide
Am I posting in the right forum?Sometimes, especially if you're new, the site can be considered a maze and trying to find the right forum to post things in can be difficult, but! We've got you!
What happens if I post it in the wrong forum? Sometimes accidentally posting something in the wrong place just happens. Maybe you had a topic where it fits in more than one place and confused you on to where to post it. However, if that happens, out of love of course, we do move these threads to the right place. So if you're posting a Help related question in General just to get more views, unfortunately we'll have to move that one too for you If it is an occurring thing however, and it's definitely clear that you know where your posts go but just keep posting it in a specific thread where it shouldn't go, we can give you a warning for forum abuse. Not only is it that the forums are being kept clean but also because this could annoy fellow members who also post and use the same forum! What about requesting? Requesting itself means whether you're about to post if someone could:
This, however in itself is not allowed unfortunately. And probably will never. Mainly because it has gone wrong plenty of times before and decided that requesting won't be a thing anymore. Therefore, any post that is being posted in any of the forums mentioned above WILL be deleted. If requesting is an occurring thing, the same as with ignoring people's guidance in posting things in the forums, you will get a warning for doing so... Please don't try us :P But... I really want that thing! While posting requests here on MTS is against the rules, there are a few sources that you can go to:
NOTE: Do keep in mind that if you post anything 'request-y' related, your post WILL be deleted. Use Descriptive Thread Titles! Use a thread title that describes in a few words what you are discussing, so people know what the thread is about. However, don't make titles like "My sim just got himself a boat and got eaten by a Kraken, pics in the post!" and then having little to zero description. In this case you'd want to have "Sim eaten by kraken?!" or something in that content with a nice story in your description so it's much easier to discuss whatever happened in your game No hate threads on specific games That being for example: 'the sims 4 sucks! Who's with me?!'. in the sims 4 general forum. Or anything about any of the games. People usually talk about their favourite moments in their preferred games or discuss the gameplay, so making a thread like this is not only unnecessary, but just rude. No file sharing/promoting your CC There shouldn't really be a reason for you to upload files in the general forums (Exception for pictures of course). If you happen to be in a situation where you do share files, make sure it's not a reupload of anything, Store items, Someone else's or your Mods folder, or anything against our Site rules You might have made some awesome CC for everyone to check out, though the best place for this would be to upload this through our Upload Wizard We're a download hosting site after all, no need to use the forums! If you made CC that you uploaded on Tumblr, Patreon, wordpress or any kind of link where you host your downloads, please do NOT use this forum for promoting. These sorts of posts will be deleted as they are considered as spam. If you're just looking for a way to get feedback, and not necessarily putting it up for download that way, please check out the Creator Feedback Forum

Now Accepting "Prompt Style" Challenges!
With the growing popularity of prompt style challenges in places like Tumblr, we've decided to broaden our challenge forum to include these type of challenges. What is a prompt style challenge, you ask? A prompt style challenge is something like the Outfit of the Day challenge, where you are given certain themes, or prompts, to create something. It could be a sim or a build. It could be a single prompt of a few. I would like to limit it to no more that a weeks worth of prompts per thread, if it's a daily prompt type. But as long as the prompts are different, there could be multiple threads of the same type. For example, two different Outfit of the Day challenges, with different prompts in each. If you make a new version of an existing challenge, please make sure it has a different title and prompts than the existing one(s). i.e., if you are making a second Outfit of the Day challenge, you could call it "[Your username]'s OOTD Challenge". Example:
Quote:
A prompt challenge could also be something a little more detailed. For example: A build challenge where you give a certain set of ground rules, like a theme, budget and lot size, perhaps even a description of a sim or family that the lot should be built for. Example:
Quote:
These types of challenges could also be Maxis makeovers of lots or sims. What are the rules for these new challenge types? These type of challenges wouldn't require the same things as traditional challenges, like an end goal. (Though theoretically, the finished build or sim would be the end goal ) Your challenge is still not a contest. There should be no deadline or judging, that would go in the contest forum. This is just meant to share creativity. Any mean or judgemental comments about someone's creations will not be tolerated. As always general forum rules apply and:
So, have fun and let the creativity flow!

Posting Pictures and Paypal
No content posted on MTS can have visible nudity, sexual content, or adult content, and instead must be posted on our adult site, Sexy Sims. This means on MTS, you may not post:
Why is this so? The site is funded by ads and donations; these payments are made to the site Paypal account. Paypal have been known to close down Paypal accounts used to fund websites because of nude pictures on the website, even of pixel people. This is a risk we cannot take - no Paypal = no MTS. Please see the Full Paypal TOU

Challenge Forum Guidelines
At present, this forum contains a lot of stuff which really shouldn't be here (and possibly shouldn't be anywhere), so these rules are intended to help you figure out whether or not your thread should go here.Is your thing a contest? If you want to run a competition where other players build houses, make sims, take pics or do something else simmy, submit entries before a set deadline, and then you and/or a group of judges give them scores and eventually announce a winner - that's a contest. Please post your contest in the Sim Contests forum. Challenges should have Sim challenges are a way of playing which is a bit different from normal play, which present a set of interesting and unusual challenges, and which you can do well or badly at. We don't have "requirements" for challenges, so if you have a challenge which is missing one or more of the following elements but it still works as a challenge, that's totally fine. However, most challenges will have the following:
You don't have to follow that format exactly, but any challenges which are patently not challenges will be archived. A challenge is not a story Challenges give the player a scenario, some rules to follow, and something to work towards. How the player and their sims get from scenario to goals is up to them. If your challenge is so specific that you're telling players what their sims should do, in what order, who they should interact with etc. - that doesn't belong in this forum. If you're enjoying the story in your own game, why not take a few pics to narrate it, and post it in the Sim Stories forum? Other stuff We do have a few other rules which you should bear in mind:
With that said, enjoy! |
