I still don't understand what a butt chin mean.

Update: July 2009-I am back now to make invisible and tranparent recolors again in sims 2. You can pm me if you want your objects to be invisible and transparent from now.

I cried when I first saw this.. It's incredibly realistic, and now I can't get cleft lips out of my head. ^^;;

It's very sad to see, but I'm sure many simmers will love this new addition. Very realistic.

I was actually thinking of setting up one of the new OFB salons to actually be like an operation smile sort of charity- it is neat that you made this.

Default cleft lip
i never thought i would see this. My daughter, who's over a year old now, was born with a cleft lip almost just like that, and had it repaired almost immediately. I'm making a 'family comic book' of sorts, and using the sims as the artwork. I created a family for each member to look just like our own, but i couldn't do anything about her being born with a cleft lip. I can now include that in the book. It's nothing to be ashamed of. I even have her before and after close up pictures framed on the wall. Thanks.

phoenixrainbow - that's fascinating. Mind if I ask what your storyline's about?

As of 1/06 - the CDC came out with new statistics about birth defects - Cleft Lip/Palate is now tied with Down's syndrome as the most common birth defects.

Another great source of info is www.cleftline.org

Btw, "hare lip" is a bit of a derogotory term, atleast in the US.

I think that it is good to see the variety of things on the sims. My cousin was born with a cleft lip and has troubles ever since. It's not open or anything anymore but he still has trouble with his nostrils and he can't eat icecream cause it comes out his nose.
I think it's great that you didn't overlook reality that you didn't make fun or critisize it in anyway.
Keep up the good work

Thank you for this, its almost... refreshing I think, just to see a few downloads not striving for inhuman perfection. even if it isnt as realistic as life.

Well...being born with a cleft lip and palate myself...I was kinda shocked when I saw this. I'm not downing it..its a creative download for people that like variation in the game. For all you simmers who have little brothers or children with this condition..they're very lucky that their cleft is hardly noticeable...I'm 16 years old and have had 15 surgeries..and I wont be done until I'm 20. But..anyways....good job..a little bloody looking but still

This looks really fantastic, and I've downloaded it. I've been looking for a cleft lip SCAR for about a year now... even tried, and failed, to make one myself. Thank you so much for the creativity and effort you've put into this.

my ex boyfriend was born with a cleft palate. he went through so much poop from other people cos of it. he had to have so many operations throughout his childhood.. resulting in speech impediments. he was gorgeous to me though.. and the sweetest guy ever =) someone who remains in my heart still. [just don't tell my hubby that ]

thanks phoenix =) it's nice to have some different elements in the game... make things less boring and much more realistic. would you ever consider making a lipstick with the scarring, as though someone had had operations to close the.. i dont know how to put this without peeing anyone off.. but gap ?

whoa...that is really freaky *shudders*. I remember my teacher telling us about cleft lips in primary school, still that is really, really scary...espcially with the scarring. I hope that my children will be born without all these defects (I'm 19, what am I talking about). Just reading about Shays248's testimony and well...

Thought, coming back to the Sims, I think that the idea is imaginative and original, but I'm not going to download it ^^;

Heh heh..."butt chin." That term has always cracked me up (which is probably good because I have a tiny bit of a butt chin, myself).

It's always nice to find something that adds a little more realism to the game! Yeah, cleft lips are usually repaired early in life, but that's only in places where people can afford surgery. Third world countries probably have a lot more people who keep them through life, for instance. Besides, it's a lipstick so can't you change it to represent surgery? Honestly, I've never tried to change my lipstick in-game, so I dunno, but I assume you can.

The lips are a little wound-like, as several people have said, but it's still cool to have this.

Not to be rude, but this is a pretty inconsiderate thing to say. You've read the comments from others here about their own children, brothers, friends etc having cleft lips and then you talk about how "freaky" and "scary" it is? Yeah, it's not something anyone would wish upon their children, simply because of how harsh society can be when it comes to looks, but that might not have been the most respectful way of putting it. Anyway, I'm sure you didn't mean to sound rude, but I wanted to comment simply because it seems like some of the comments in this thread are a lot more offensive than the creation itself. Whatever, I'm rambling.

Cool creation.

I am a woman with multiple disabilities but I don't have a cleft lip. Instead of giving my two cents about how realistic this depiction does or doesn't look, I'll defer to those who have more experience with that particular condition. I just wanted to write in and say how much I really appreciate you trying to create a download that reflects the true variety found in the human population. Not everyone is born looking like the classic Gerber Baby.

My 2-year-old has a cleft lip, and I think it's absurd that people find this offensive. It's quite good, though it does look a bit wound-ish
