This is exactly what I was looking for! No, ShoddyMink, the "Sims 1 Rotation Style" option just means that clockwise gets switched for counterclockwise and vice versa.

As for "why anyone would want this", I like to make patches for Furcadia, a MORPG. Furcadia works in the exact same perspective as Sims 1, just smaller. I prefer Sims 2 as a game, and would prefer to adapt the graphics for Sims 2 for Furcadia. On Furcadia, one of the hardest things to make is the 'walkabout' images, basically avatars. These are viewed from four directions in standing, left-foot-forward, right-foot-forward, sitting, and lying down poses. I'm taking pictures from Sims 2 to get all of these poses to make a human walkabout on Furcadia.

(Also, I just kinda like how the Sims 1 camera worked.)

Can't you just go to options and pick Sims 1 rotation??

Ok! Who here has actually played Sims 1? The Sims 1 PERSPECTIVE is completely different. It's a top-down isometric view. There is no option anywhere in the Sims 2 which allows you to enable such a thing without a mod.

Also. Who decided the Sims 2 has a better camera because 2 is a bigger number than 1? By that logic "The Matrix: Revolutions" should be the best one of the three.

I for one am sick of having to slide around sideways / rotate 135° the wrong way... only to find a fridge blocking my view. So, I think this is an awesome idea.

Only downside I can see is not being able to toggle something like this on-or-off. A three axis camera rotation mod which snaps to 15° increments might be more useful... but I have no idea how such things work, and apparently I can't mod/run SimPE on a Mac anyway. So I'm just glad I get to download and try such a thing.

SO: Thank you.

As a photographer in the game, I wouldn't have any use for it, but thank-you for the nostalgia! This is quite an impressive mod!

It's totally clever and it even speeds up the game but it causes major bugs so I had to use the backup to restore it back to normal.

If you want the original Sims 2 camera as well as the Sims 1 camera then only overwrite the first persons camera and then if you're playing in a lot then press the Tabulator key and it will switch to the Sims 1 camera, to get the perspective camera back just change to a different mode and it should work!

How in the world of resoonably high end machines do you use Picture in picture. I click and the game freeses and I manualy half to minimize only to get the game wil now terminate. This is the best mod as rotating can get annoying. i have all the expansion packs not stuff packs. The only stuff packs i have came with Open for Business Collection DVD. Does anyone els have this issue or know of a way to fix this.

This is super-cool! I love how this lets you see every object on the lot without having to turn the camera 16 different ways. The zoom-out distance is great! Just one thing I noticed: unless you're right up zoomed in, if there's music playing or sims talking, any sound really, you can't hear it. I know this post is unsupported and all that jazz, just thought I'd report this just in case

Really cool! I like this camera style way more for some reason lol. Also, I think that's actually what sims 2 camera was supposed to look like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0DtSp_e-04
One more thing, isn't there any solution to the free camera bug?

I've been using this camera off and on for years and always go back to the original because of the glitchiness. This is pure genius, can't believe I never saw this comment - this solution works perfectly. And now I can play both in The Sims 2 & Sims 1 styles. I know this was ages ago but seriously, thank you!

An alternate method to stop the free camera (TAB shortcut) from being glitchy, is to reduce one set of view values for the LiveCamera.
Camera view being 1 number different from the free camera will make it safe to use both, all that occurs is a slight angle change in-game.

For example, reducing the first set of values from 30 to 29 (either set can be reduced):
Code:
pitch (29 29 29 29 29 29) (30 30 30 30 30 30)

This way you can always stay isometric instead of having to change views all the time, which is why I prefer this method.
