From www.answers.com:

Norse, another name for the North Germanic, or Scandinavian, group of the Germanic subfamily of the Indo-European family of languages.

The modern Norse languages—Danish, Faeroese, Icelandic, Norwegian, and Swedish—all stem from an earlier form of Norse known as Old Norse.
Now extinct, Old Norse was the language spoken by the Germanic tribes living in Scandinavia before A.D. 1000. It was first written in runes, some examples of which go back to the 3d cent. A.D., but later the Roman alphabet was used.

The earliest extant Old Norse manuscripts in the Roman alphabet are from the 12th cent. Old Norse is also noteworthy as the language of the Eddas and sagas (see Old Norse literature; Icelandic literature).

The Norse gods were the Vikings' gods.

And thank you for the kind words; I loved making them and am thrilled to see you like them too

I have been following your creating the norse gods and I must say that you have been doing it very well ... *ThumbsUp*

I also like how much background story you add to each

"Odin was sort of 'dangerous' to make, as I figure many has made their own image of how he should look"
Right ... I see odin in a totally different way ... more like this : http://www.petermadsen.info/pages/v...a3-forside.html
pic from this site : http://www.petermadsen.info/pages/vh/valhalla-eng.html

But since there is no real pic of Odin, we have the right to imagine him in anyway that suits us

Just want to add that if you ever want to recreate him, generalzoi made it possible to relolor one eye only ... here is the link http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=101991
I made my own Odin using generalzoi´s eye, and it looked pretty realistic.

Icelandic is the language that comes closest to old norse language (if you want to study it ) ... and they are pretty protective about keeping icelandic as an original old norse language ... tex they don´t allow words from other languages in tó the icelandic language ... when something new is evented (like computers ) they create a brand new icelandic word for it ... weher others just adobt the original word.

Hmmm, getting in-touch with my inner 'Viking' ? - {Downloads} - as a member of an 'Anglo-Briton-Celt-Norman-Saxon' family that could be interesting or just down right confusing!. Thanks for uploading & sharing with us!...

To all, of the very talented MTS-2 creative types - my sincere thanks for taking the time to create/upload/share...

I like him! Having studied Norse mythology since I was old enough to read, and being Danish myself, Odin has always been one of my favourites. Good job!

Actually, on the Faeroe Islands, it's the same. I lived there for a year, picked up Faeroese and also talked to some Icelandic people up there. It's practically the same. It's quite fun to compare.
